Haha you guys rule! =] Nice new PAMS thing there Sama =] Well I'm writing right now. I really made my history teacher mad because I hand wrote a post today in her class. (It was great!) So now all I have to do is type it up & finish it & I'll post!

POSTINGGG.

When I awoke the next morning, pain shot all though my body; my spell work from the previous night had used all of my energy. To an extent, I wanted to lie in bed for the rest of my life. I couldn’t help but to admit that I was slightly depressed. Picturing Freckles as squished mush made my stomach turn.

Finally, I gathered enough strength to kick off my covers and stumble into the kitchen. James and Remus were sitting at the table; James was drinking his coffee and reading the paper, looking very adult, and Remus was chewing on a plate of kipper and eggs.

“Oh, God,” James said when he saw me. He steered me to a chair and forced me to sit; I was weak already so it didn’t take much to have my legs buckle and collapse beneath me.

“Did you even sleep last night?” Remus asked, pushing his food towards me, trying to indicate that I should eat the remains.

“Yes,” I answered. It was the truth; I’d slept like a log through the whole night. I ignored Remus’ food. “No thanks. I’m not hungry.”

James spun my chair around and forced me to face him. “Lily, do you care about me?” he asked, very seriously.

I looked away, focusing intently on the ground.

“Answer me! Do you care about me or not?”

My eyes met his and I began to cry. “There’s no need for reminding that you’re all that matters to me, James.”

“Then you’ll realize that I don’t plan on leaving anytime soon. I love you, Lily,” he whispered, and kissed me.

When he pulled away I wiped my eyes on my pajama sleeves and noticed that Remus was gone. I couldn’t help but to laugh a little. “Think we grossed him out?”

“Nah, definitely not,” James smiled. “Remus knows when I need my privacy, and he respects that. He’s a good friend. Listen, though. You’ll not worry, all right?”

It was more of a statement more than a question, but I nodded nonetheless. “Okay. I’ll work on it.”

“Good,” James kissed my forehead. “Speaking of work, aren’t you supposed to be there right now?”

I looked at the clock and jumped. “Oh, no! I’ll see you in a couple of hours!” I put on my jacket and raced to Mr. Orson’s house. I knocked fiercely on the door and it swung open almost immediately.

“Ah, Miss Evans, running a bit late today?” Mr. Orson asked. “Nice attire, though.”

I looked down and blushed; I was still in my pajamas and I hadn’t thought to put on any shoes. “Sorry, Mr. Orson, I had a late start.”

“And I suppose a light night too?” he questioned. “And how many times must I tell you? Call me Nivy.”

“Yet you call me ‘Miss Evans,’” I pointed out.

“Ah, true, true.” By now he’d had me in front of the cauldron again, and the stopwatch was in his hand. “Ready? Begin.”

And so I did; the salamander arms were added after the wicker extracts, just like always, and then I stirred twice. He’d had me memorize the potion, and it had actually come in handy; it was much easier to just go and not have to constantly refer back to the book.

When time was called I looked at him nervously. I hated this anxious feeling.

“Almost,” he said for the millionth time. “Now I’m going to do something I’ve never done in front of another person and show you what it’s like when I make the potion, and how it looks when it’s done.”

I stood off to the side and asked, “Would you like me to take the time?”

“You can if you want,” he answered simply.

I decided to.

Suddenly, he began working, and he did so smoothly; I couldn’t help but to admire him. Everything seemed to come so naturally and instinctively. I bet he could’ve done everything with his eyes open and still not mess up.

When he was done (and he finished just on time) I approached the basin and looked down. Instantly I new how it was intended to look: it was blue, but a pearly white substance was swirling around inside of it. I had the shade correct but nothing else.

I looked up at him and could only smile.

“How’d it go?” James repeated a couple of weeks later, just as he always did.

“‘Almost’” I sighed, mimicking Mr. Orson’s voice. “But it’s getting better; I’ve had the shade of blue right for a while and today I got a bit of a white tinge to it… I think I just need to work on getting it done quicker.”

“But not too fast,” James pointed out. “It’d be dangerous and too strong.”

“Heard anything from Dumbledore?”

“Nope,” he answered. “Can you believe that we’re going to be out of here in two weeks?”

I shook my head. “No. This place seems like home… it’s going to be odd, adjusting to Hogwarts again. I mean, this hasn’t exactly been vacation; we’ve still had homework and our own problems to deal with. I don’t know though… getting up early and dealing with teachers just doesn’t seem all that appealing anymore… not to mention all of the drama and questions we’re going to face. I can’t believe it, but I’m glad that this is our last year.”

He agreed and Remus entered the room, groaning. He’d transformed a couple of days ago and he’d seemed rather sulky.

“Maybe he’s thinking the same thing,” I guessed.

“No,” James said. “Something tells me it’s something more. Remus can pick up a lot more than we can, you know?”

“Yeah. Well, in a little while I’m going to go… Mr. Orson wants me back because he thinks that we’re almost at a breakthrough.”

Remus started growling softly.

“Jeez, Remus, keep your voice down,” I heard James say as I left again.

When I entered the house Mr. Orson was sitting by the fire. He was coughing slightly.

“Hey,” I said. “Ready to begin, Mr. Orson?”

“Nivy,” he corrected. “And, yes. This time I want you to get it under fifteen minutes… you’re not leaving until you do. If you can get this all done correctly in that time… then you’ve succeeded.”

So it went; the first time I failed miserably. I was so nervous that I did worse than the very first time that I made the potion. The second time was much better, but it was still eighteen minutes. The third time I got sixteen minutes, and I could see the silvery substance more clearly.

I was beginning to become exhausted. It was ten thirty and my arms were sore from the constant stirring.

“One more time,” Mr. Orson said, and began to cough so fiercely that he had to sit down. “No, no, don’t worry about me. I think it is just allergies. Continue, please.”

I nodded and began working quickly; I imagined that I was Mr. Orson, moving smoothly and just having everything come to me. I played around some and put a small beat to my potion making, to where I was almost dancing. It made things a bit more interesting.

I added the bugcap’s extract, stirred eight times to the left and once to the right, then turned to look at Mr. Orson. “Done. Time?”

“Fifteen minutes to the second,” he grinned. I squealed and hugged him tightly. “All right, we have to let it sit for six more seconds and then we’ll see if it’s been done properly.”

I stared nervously over the cauldron… Three… Two… One.

And then, suddenly, a pearly white color swirled though the potion.

I screamed, and Mr. Orson jumped, and we hugged like crazy.

He grinned down at me. “See, I knew you could do it.”

“Yes, well, I couldn’t have done it without you, Mr. Orson.”

“Nivy,” he said automatically, and I laughed.

“It’s disrespectful for me to call you by your first name.”

“No, it’s not,” he answered. “You’re like a daughter to me, Lily. It’s not disrespectful at all.”

I squeezed him tightly and he began to cough again. He pulled out his handkerchief and I looked at him worriedly. “Are you sure that you’re okay?”

“Positive,” he said as he led me to the door. “I want you here tomorrow morning, along with Remus and James, so we can see if you can do it again.”

I smiled, but my face fell as I took a closer look at his handkerchief.

Mr. Orson hadn’t just been coughing… he’d been coughing up blood.
