Heyyo! Once again, it's everybody's crazy writer, Katie!! WOOO!! OK, so I was finishing up my other fics, and I realized: OMG I only have ONE fic to work on! And that's with Bells! So I panicked. Then I said

"Wait...why don't I just write another fic?"

Yea. That's what I said. Really. So I asked for any special requests from my beloved readers, and they requested D/Hr. So...here it is!

The Setting:
Because of Dumbledore's death, many students are being transferred to different schools. Hermione is just one of many being transferred. In her new school, she meets nice people, mean people, and one face seems to gleam out more than the others....


Hermione opened up her letter one more time, just t make sure she read it right.

Dear Former Hogwarts Student,

As you must be aware of by this time, you will soon be joining our school of HideHollow School of Magical Learning. Your list of supplies has already been sent to you, as have your schedule and directions. We hope to see you soon.

Hermione sighed. She had lost the directions. Usually, they're right in a place where she could reach them. Unfortunately, she also left them in a place where Crookshanks could reach them as well. The cat had ripped them to shreds, and hid the pieces as well.

So Hermione decided to Apparate. She had read about it's surrounding area, and was sure she could do it. She would have her things sent later. Then she realized: There was no way she could do that.

"Damn!" Hermione said, then looked at her watch. She had about an hour before she had to be there at her new school. She thought hard. No way was she going to bug her parents about this. No way. Then a thought popped into her head. She could take the Knight Bus! She pulled out her wand.

BAM!!!

The Knight bus drove into view. Hermione stopped Stan before he could start his speech, and hopped on, her bags and Crookshanks trailing behind her.

"Thanks Miss Granger, not even letting me finish." Stan grumbled, putting her bags away.

"Sorry Stan, I'm just in a hurry. I need to get to HideHollow School for Magical Learning."

"What? You ain't going to 'Ogwarts anymore?" Stan looked amazed. "What happened?"

"Nothing. But my mother wanted me to change schools, so I did. I'd rather not discuss it." Hermione flopped down on her bed and slept.

Hermione jerked out of her sleep. Crookshanks yowled and leapt underneath the swinging bed. She glanced out the window.

The countryside was zooming by at an alarming pace. No wonder Crookshanks was frightened. She tried to soothe Crookshanks as best she could, and was finally able to coax him from out underneath the bed. He crept out, eyes huge, and whisked himself into Hermione's lap, shivering. Stan was reading the paper.

"Almost there, 'Ermione." Stan said, unmindful of the jerky shifting. "Wut wuz that place yous wuz gonna go to again?"

"Um..." Hermione dug into her pocket. She pulled out the crumpled letter. "Hidehollow School of Magical Learning."

"Oh." Stan said, and didn't say another word. He buried himself back in his paper. Hermione shrugged her shoulders.

Soon, a small shack loomed in the distance. Hermione looked at it queerly. She questioned Stan about it.

"Oh, that's your school, that is." Stan looked at the shack. Hermione remembered about Illusion Charms, and her mind was at ease.

Hermione's things were sent up to her room at once. By conversing with students walking towards the shack, she learned that she was to be sharing a room. With whom, she didn't know. She walked into the shack with a trembling resolve.

"Wow..." That was all she could say at first. Hidehollow wasn't just a school. It was an underground fortress. The shack was simply one of the ways to get to the underground school.

"Watch where you're going!" Hermione was rudely shoved aside. A girl with her head bowed tried to manuver past Hermione.

"Oh, I'm sorry." The girl who pushed her looked up.

"That's ok. I'm just in a hurry, that's all. I'm always late for everything. My name's Ashley. What's yours?"

"Hermione. Hermione Granger."

"Ashley Dursley. Nice to meet you."

"Dursley?" Hermione took a double take at the slim girl before her. She had bright green eyes and long, black hair.

"That's right." Ashley gave Hermione a queer look. "What are you staring at?"

"N-nothing. Only that...well, my best friend Harry Potter-"

"Oh, YOU know Harry?" Ashley asked. She grinned. "Well, that explains everything. Yea, we're cousins on my uncle Vernon's side."

"Harry's never mentioned you before." Hermione said eagerly. Now, this was someone she could make friends with.

"Yea, well, I don't see him much. And when I do, I'm not allowed to talk about or to him. Cause he's magic."

"But, you-"

"Yea, I'm magic too. But the Dursley's are very anti-magic. So we're not allowed to make contact with each other."

"Understandable. They don't like any of Harry's friends." Hermione walked with Ashley down the stairs into the fortress. "So...what year are you in Ashley?"

"I'm in my seventh year. What about you?"

"Me too. I was supposed to be finishing up and Hogwarts, but...because of some events..." Hermione couldn't continue. Ashley put an arm around her.

"Ok, we won't talk about it. Hey, look! Another exchange student. Wow, he's a hottie, isn't he Hermione?"

Hermione looked to where Ashley was pointing. Ashley...was pointing at...Draco Malfoy?

"Draco Malfoy?" Hermione cried out. "You have got to be kidding me!"

"Oh, Draco? Is that his name? Do you know him?" Ashley asked, growing excited.

"Legally speaking, yes, I have come into contact with him. Is he really in this school?" Hermione just couldn't believe it.

"I guess so, if he's here. Can you introduce him to me?"

"No! He's a nasty git! I wouldn't trust him with a quill! C'mon, let's go." Hermione had to practically drag Ashley away. "Where do we meet, anyway?"

"Oh, we just go into the Meeting Hall." Ashley led the way, Malfoy forgotten. "Did you have one of those at Hogwarts?"

"Kind of. Only, we called it the Great Hall. Are you guys sorted?"

"Oh yes. We're more like Hogwarts than you think!."

"Really?"

"Sure! We've got Gryffindor's, Ravenclaws, Hufflepuffs, and Slytherin's! Only, the standards here are much higher than at Hogwarts. We've got the highest grades in all of Europe." Ashely said proudly. "I'm number seven in the whole school."

"Are you serious? That's awesome! I was number one in my class back at Hogwarts."

"Good! We don't allow just anybody to come to Hidehollow." Ashley smiled.

"Well then, I suppose Granger here is going to fit right in, isn't she?"

Hermione jumped at Malfoy's voice. She turned to Ashley. "You have such high standards, and yet you allow this scum here tocome to this school?" She scowled at him. "No one asked you, Malfoy. What do you want?"

"Oh, just to introduce myself to this gorgeous creature." Malfoy slipped an arm around Ashley. Her face turned red.

"Well, it's awfully nice to meet you, but my friend list is all full up." Ashley gently pried his arm off her. "Try another girl, ok Malfoy?"

"I suppose," Malfoy glared, "That my reputation has proceeded me here. And I'm telling you, Granger, that I'm here to make a fresh start, and you're not going to get in my way, ok?"

"Well, just stay out of my way, and I'll stay out of your way, how about that?" Hermione layed down the law firmly.

"Fine with me. See you later honey." Malfoy looked at Ashley. "Maybe we could meet later, how about that?"

"Sorry, my boyfriend wouldn't be too pleased about that now, would he? How about that?"

Malfoy grumbled and walked away. Hermione smiled at Ashley's look of longing and resolve. "You know, he's kinda cute when he's-"

"Oh stop it!" Hermione laughed, and Ashley took Hermione into the Meeting Hall.

Malfoy narrowed his eys at Granger and that other girl. So what if he was here? He really was trying to make a new start. Granger had no right to bring the past to this new place. He grudgingly followed the other students into the Meeting Hall.

It was just as big as the Great Hall, if not bigger. The ceiling never changed, but the room was airy and roomy. For the first time ever, he was unsure of himself. Cautiously, he sat down at one of the tables, near the end, by himself. He never felt so alone. He even envied Granger for making a friend so quickly. Well, if this was his new start, he'd better make the most of it!

"Excuse me, but where to the new students get Sorted?" He asked one of the kids. He shrugged his shoulders.

"I don't know, I'm new to this school too. I've only been here for one year, and I still don't know everything. What's your name?"

"Draco Malfoy, but, please call me Draco." Draco couldn't believe himself. He was being...well, polite!

"Suits me. I'm Sam Montel. Nice to meet you. What school did you come from before? You look too old to be a first year."

"That's because I'm in my seventh. I came from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Where did you come from?"

"Sorcerer's Acadamy for Magic. It's a pretty diverse school. You've got witches and wizards from all over the world. It's pretty neat."

So Draco sat and listened to Sam's adventures at his old school. It seemed as if Sam was trying to make a new start too. Draco felt as if they could be friends. real friends, not like Crabbe and Goyle were supposedly his 'friends'.

Soon, the Headmistress stood up. Draco fell silent, a thing he rarely did.

"Hello students from all over. And students that are returning. Welcome to Hidehollow! As our first order of business, I would like to sort our new students. Wil they all come up here please?"

Draco stood up, along with Granger and a few others. They all walked slowly towards the front of the room. Draco caught Sam's eye, and got a thumbs up. Draco smiled nervously. Imagine...Draco Malfoy nervous!

"Now, I shall go into your minds using Legilimacy, and find where your place truely is among us."

Draco got really scared. What if she saw all the bad things he had done? He probably would be kicked out! He started to sweat.

"Hermione Granger! You're next dear." Professor Herdsman called out. Draco panicked. He was next! He desperately fought for control. "Ravenclaw!"

Hermione grinned, slightly suprised, ran over to her friend, who looked to be in the same class. Lucky.

"Draco Malfoy." Draco was almost crying now. He walked over to her, shaking. She held out a hand to steady him. "Never mind that now, Draco. Let go of everything. Think of something, and hold on to it."

Suprisingly, all Draco could think of was Hermione. Or Granger. Or whatever her name was. He found he liked Hermione better than Granger.

"RAVENCLAW!" Professor Herdsman cried out. Draco looked at her, astonished. "Yes Draco, you have done some awful things. But you are very smart, and there lies your potential. Join Mr. Montel over there."

Draco rushed to Sam's side and partook in a high five. Finally, things were going right!
