New post time! Banner by Me CHAPTER EIGHT: MEET YOU UNDER THE MOON “We need to talk about Draco, George,” Emily said quietly. George’s arms tensed around her. “I’m going to kill him!” George shouted. He tried to take his arms from around her and pull out his wand but Emily grabbed his hands. “No, wait! Please listen, babe,” Emily begged. He stared at her, gripping her hands back. “He helped me in the forest, George. Instead of killing me like he was supposed to, he helped me fight them. We were able to get back here… He’s agreed to be a spy,” Emily whispered. “What do you mean?” George asked in spite of himself. “I’m going to modify his memory so he won’t remember everything that’s happened… He’s going to go back and say that I cursed him to do all that. I’ll use the Fidelius Charm on the one memory of the conversation we had about doing it. He’ll be the Secret Keeper so he’ll remember what he has to do. He’ll go back, help out Harry as much as he can from behind enemy lines.” Emily trailed off as she stared past George and at a rose bush. “I’m sure he’ll be okay,” George said softly as he wrapped his arms around her waist. “I know, I’m just nervous,” Emily whispered. “Why don’t we get this show on the road so we can go home; Remus is pretty worried…” George said quietly. Emily nodded and they headed back in the house. George shook Draco’s hand and said thanks for helping his wife, but he also told him that if he ever kissed her again, he’d kill him. Emily performed her charms and Draco left. Emily said her good-byes to the Cullen family with the promise that she’d be careful and stay safe. As she went up the stairs to Alice’s room to grab her things, she pulled out her mirror. “Severus Snape,” she said quietly. “What is it now?” he snapped. “I’m going home; I need to make sure Dumbledore’s okay with that,” she whispered. Snape eyed her suspiciously. “Why are you going home?” “I found out that I’m pregnant… And I can’t put them at risk like this.” Snape looked away from the mirror and towards the portrait of a man. The man nodded and Snape looked back at Emily. “He say it’s fine and to take care of yourself,” Snape said quietly, his face softening only a smidge. “Severus,” Emily began. It was the first time she had ever said his name, much less without disdain. “I assume you know what happened with Lucius and Bellatrix… That you heard about Draco…” Snape nodded slowly. “We’re sending him back. He’ll be behind enemy lines; I was able to put a few charms on him. I was wondering if you’d…watch after him for me?” “Yes,” he said simply. “Are you going to be okay?” she asked hesitantly. He cleared his throat and nodded. “You just…remind me of someone I knew,” he said quietly. Emily smiled timidly, knowing that he was referring to another redheaded witch. “Take care of yourself, Severus,” she whispered. He nodded before hanging up. Emily put her mirror away and slowly made her way downstairs with her things. “Let’s go home, Georgie,” Emily whispered as he grabbed her purse and took her hands. “Mmmm, couldn’t have said it better myself… Let’s go,” he said as he held her hands tightly and Apparated them to their house. George and Emily landed on their front step and he opened the door. She walked in and took her coat off. “George, is that you?” she heard someone whisper from the living room. Emily turned to look at George with her eyebrows raised. “Yeah, it’s me,” he said loudly. He put his finger up to his lips, telling her to be quiet. He winked and she quickly understood. He walked around the corner, a frown on his face. “I, er, couldn’t convince her,” he said quietly. “I’m so sorry, George,” Tonks whispered. “She is pretty stubborn,” Remus said with the shake of his head. “I’m not that stubborn, Rems,” Emily said as she came around the corner, her hands on her hips. “Emily!” Remus shouted, jumping up from his chair. Emily looked around the room at her family. Ginny, Tonks, Remus, and Fred were there. Ginny squealed as she jumped from her seat and ran at Emily, engulfing her in a hug. “I’ve missed you too, Gin,” Emily laughed. “I’ve been so worried about you, especially since you stopped calling me,” she said as she pulled back to look at her. Emily side glanced at George. “Wait! You’ve contacted Ginny more than once, but wouldn’t call me?” George asked incredulously. “I couldn’t bear talking to you,” Emily whispered as she walked over to him. “It hurt too much, I’m sorry,” she said as she grabbed his hands. “I wish you would have called me—I’ve been worried about you ever since our last call,” he whispered. “I know, but I just couldn’t stand it.” Emily wrapped her arms around his middle and kissed his cheek. “But I’m here now,” she said with a slight smile. “And you promise you won’t disappear on me again?” he asked with a serious expression. Emily cupped one of her hands around his chin. She stepped on her tiptoes and kissed his lips firmly. “I’m never going to leave you again, George. Even if I wanted to, I wouldn’t be able to. And I don’t want to,” she whispered. He nodded before smiling slightly. “Good,” he whispered before he kissed her lips. “Now that you two have had your little moment, can I please give my extremely missed sister a hug?” Fred asked. Emily and George broke apart, chuckling quietly. Fred picked Emily up and spun her around, hugging her. “I’ve missed you too, Freddie,” she said as he placed her back on the ground. Tonks stood up slowly and walked towards her. It was then that Emily realized how big she had gotten. “Tonks, are you—?” Tonks smiled at her. “Yes, I’m pregnant,” she said with a grin as she hugged Emily. Emily hugged her in shock and looked over at Remus when she released her. Remus stood up from his seat and shuffled his feet awkwardly. “So, you’re going to be a dad…” Emily said quietly, her eyes on the floor. She fidgeted for a second before Remus surprisingly pulled her into a hug. “I’m already a dad, Ems,” he whispered in her ear. “But yes, we are having a baby,” he said with a raspy chuckle. “Congrats, Daddy,” Emily whispered. Remus let go of her and kissed her cheek. She walked back over to George and kissed his cheek. They stared each other in the eye and made a silent agreement. They both smiled before turning to the others. “Since we’re on the subject of babies…” Emily started. “We have something to tell you,” George said as he wrapped his arms around Emily’s waist from behind. His hands rested on her stomach and she intertwined their fingers. “I’m pregnant…We’re pregnant,” Emily said. Everyone was silent as they stared at Emily and George in shock. George kissed her cheek and her shoulder. Emily’s nails dug into his skin as Remus’ face started turning red. Ginny squealed and ran over to them, hugging both Emily and George in one. They laughed gently as Ginny pulled back. Fred hugged them next, saying his congratulations. “Congrats!” Tonks said as she hugged Emily and George kissed her cheek. “Thanks, Tonks,” Emily whispered. Emily gently unwound George’s arms from her waist and walked over to Remus. “Please be happy for me,” she whispered. Remus met her eyes. “What were you thinking? You’re way too young, Emily!” Remus said, his voice raising. “It’s not like we planned it,” she whispered. “But now that it’s happened, I wouldn’t ever change it. I love George and I love our babies.” Emily grabbed Remus’ hand and held it in both of hers. “Please be happy for us.” “Babies? Twins?” he asked quietly. Emily nodded slowly. His eyes glanced down at her stomach. Emily placed his hand around her belly. “Say hello to your grandchildren,” she whispered as a tear fell down her cheek. Remus looked up at her and wiped her tear with his other hand before pulling her into a hug. “I am happy for you; I just wasn’t expecting it.” “Neither were we,” Emily chuckled against his chest. The six of them sat around the living room talking and laughing, celebrating. They brought out Emily’s radio and listened to music. Fred and Ginny went back to The Burrow to tell their parents that Emily was back. George made sure to tell them to not, under any circumstances, tell their parents that Emily was pregnant, and they agreed. George and Emily were dancing to a rendition of the song What the World Needs Now by Aimee Mann on the 2004 channel of the radio. When the song ended, Lonestar’s new song came on the radio and Remus gently let Tonks, who was nodding off, lean against the armrest as he stood up. “May I have this dance?” he asked Emily quietly. She nodded with a smile on her face as George kissed her cheek and sat beside Tonks. Tonks shuffled on the couch and leaned against George’s shoulder, falling asleep. Remus took one of Emily’s hands, his other winding around her waist as the music filled the air. He called her on the road From a lonely cold hotel room Just to hear her say I love you one more time But when he heard the sound Of the kids laughing in the background He had to wipe away a tear from his eye A little voice came on the phone Said, “Daddy when you coming home” He said the first thing that came to his mind I’m already there Take a look around I’m the sunshine in your hair I’m the shadow on the ground I’m the whisper in the wind I’m your imaginary friend And I know I’m in your prayers Oh I’m already there Emily pulled back to look at Remus as the next verse continued on. “What are you trying to tell me, Rems?” she asked with a frown. “This is going to be our song, Ems,” he whispered. “What does that mean?” “I just need you to dance with me,” he whispered back. I’m already there Don’t make a sound I’m the beat in your heart I’m the moonlight shining down I’m the whisper in the wind And I’ll be there until the end Can you feel the love that we share Oh I’m already there We may be a thousand miles apart But I’ll be with you wherever you are “You promised, Rems,” Emily whispered, tears streaming down her face. “And I’ll never break that promise, Ems, but maybe you need to look deeper into the meaning of this song,” he whispered as he brushed the tear from her cheek. She faintly remembered a conversation she had with Tonks a while ago. It seemed like another lifetime. I’m the whisper in the wind And I’ll be there till the end Can you feel the love that we share Oh I’m already there Oh I’m already There Emily looked deep into Remus’ green eyes as he dropped her hand and started walking away from her. He gently picked Tonks up from the couch and smiled at George. As he walked back past Emily, he kissed her cheek and then he left. Emily stared after him as George made his way to her side. He gently took her hand and kissed her palm. She turned to look at him. “I can’t lose him,” she whispered. “I know,” he said softly. “You won’t.” Emily nodded as George kissed her palm again. She giggled lightly as he tenderly bit her finger. “So,” he said as she wrapped her arms around his neck. “So,” she repeated with a grin. She kissed his cheek and then pulled back to look at him. “So, we haven’t really gotten a chance to celebrate by ourselves yet,” George whispered seductively. “Mmmm, I guess you’re right,” she whispered huskily. George’s lips brushed along her jaw, from her ear to her chin as she wound her legs around his waist. He quickly made his way to their bedroom as she kissed his cheek and his jaw and then his velvety lips. *Disclaimer: The song I'm Already There is performed by Lonestar and written by Richie McDonald. What do you think? |
I've always loved that song Emily :) OMG! This is such a sad and happy post...why do people have to die?!? I love Remus, especially in your story, and this post just makes me love him that much more even though he's breaking hearts...Emily's, mine, and probably the rest of your loyal readers as well. He's not breaking my heart but he may be cracking it a bit...and yes I wear my emotions on my sleeve, with 5 sisters and your mum and only 1 brother your whole life it's just how it goes for me at least. Love the post Emily can't wait for more :) !Jesse! and *Lauren* |
