At four o’clock the next morning, Emily slipped out of the bed quietly. She made sure to not make enough noise that would wake him. She grabbed her purse and change of clothes, using the bathroom downstairs. She took her shower and brushed her teeth. She slipped her clothes on and put her purse over her shoulder. She pulled out her wand and made it to where she was a chameleon. Her body was the color of the paint on the walls behind her. Emily walked into the kitchen slowly. She pulled out the note she had written the other night. She gently placed it on the counter with a white lily. She grabbed their magical mirror and cut it in half with her wand. She put one half by her note while the other went straight into her bag, that way they could communicate. She read through the letter once more before departing, making sure it said everything she needed it to. Georgie, As you probably guessed when you woke up this morning, I left to begin my mission. I should have started it before now, but I just couldn’t leave you. It breaks my heart to leave you now, but I had no other choice. This is something I have to do. I broke the mirror in half so that we could have a ways of communication. Don’t call me on it though—I’ll call you when it’s safe for me. I promise I’ll be okay, and you better promise the same thing to me. Stay safe and don’t come looking for me. I love you, Georgie. Don’t worry, love, my mission isn’t dangerous. It’s better this way. If I stayed to say goodbye, I’d never be able to leave. Forever and Always, Ems Emily released a tear as she put the note back on the table and took a step back. She took her Deluminator out of her pocket, clicked it once, and the lights went out, making another one appear in the doorway of the living room. It was a light bluish, and Emily walked up to it. The light floated towards her and went through her chest. It was hot, so she knew that it was working. It’s the exact way Dumbledore said it would happen. So, she Disapparated, appearing in front of number 12 Grimmauld Place. Thankfully, she had appeared behind a few bushes and a tree, so the cloaked figures standing in front of the house didn’t see her, but she was sure they heard her pop. She quietly placed a few enchantments around her so that she couldn’t be seen or heard. She took out her glasses and whispered, “Forever and Always.” Nothing happened at first. She stared at the cloaked figures; they all seemed to be staring towards the place between the houses of eleven and thirteen. She stayed there the whole day, watching them through her reading glasses. It started drizzling lightly, but Emily stood her ground. The tree covered most of the rain, so she didn’t get too wet. Emily noticed a man with a twisted face point towards the house. She twisted under her tree and watched Harry, under his Invisibility Cloak, go through the front door of the house. Wait. Was he under his Invisibility Cloak? Emily stared at the spot in shock. So, that’s what these glasses do! They allow you to see hidden things! Emily thought in excitement. She concentrated on the house and the walls became fuzzy until it was as if there was a hole blasted through it. She could see inside the house. She took the glasses off and stared at them in amazement. “You’re a genius, Dumbledore,” Emily whispered as she looked up at the dark clouds. Emily turned to look back at the Death Eaters; they took up their previous position with looks of frustration and disappointment. She waited a couple more hours as nothing happened. She made a bit of noise to see if the Death Eaters could hear or see through her charms. Deciding it was safe, she pulled out her broken mirror. “George Weasley,” she said as she looked at her reflection. “Emily! Oh, thank God! I’ve been worried sick about you!” George exclaimed. Emily watched as Fred came into view behind his brother. He smiled and waved. “I’m sorry; I had to make sure everything was safe before I could call. How are you?” she asked after she waved back at Fred. “He’s pretty miserable, Ems,” Fred replied. “He hasn’t left the kitchen table since he sat down at it. He won’t eat or move.” Emily’s face dropped as she looked at the gloomy George. “I’ll just leave you two to it, then,” Fred said before he left Emily’s view. She heard a door shut and figured he left either the room or the house. “George,” Emily said quietly. His face lifted at the sound of his name. “I kinda knew,” he whispered. “The way you acted all day yesterday and then last night… I expected you to leave, but I hoped you wouldn’t. And I didn’t expect you to leave without saying goodbye.” “I couldn’t stay to say goodbye, Georgie,” Emily whispered as tears leaked out of her eyes. “If I stayed, I would never have left, and I had to leave.” “Come back,” he begged. “You know I can’t,” she whispered. Emily and George stayed up the whole night talking until they both fell asleep. Emily fell into a peaceful sleep until the sound of screaming woke her up. She jumped up and peered around, her glasses still on, though lopsided. Her wand was out in a flash as she looked around at the doorstep of Grimmauld Place. Harry, Hermione, and Ron were on the step, huddled together. Hermione’s hand was slipping from Harry’s as Yaxley was pulling her away. Emily gasped loudly as she swished her wand around, using a nonverbal spell. A blue light hit Yaxley at the same moment that Hermione hit him with a red one. It created a purple light, which hit his chest and he let go of Hermione, who Apparated her, Harry, and Ron out of there. Emily stared at Yaxley as he looked round for the owner of the curse thrown at him. His other Death Eater friends were looking round too because they had seen the light fly by. But they didn’t see Yaxley yet; he was still hidden on the doorstep, staring around. Emily’s hand abruptly went to her stomach as she felt a pang of pain erupt inside her. She bent over, throwing up into the bush. As soon as she got her head back on, she stood back up, glaring at Yaxley. “Flipendo!” she said out loud, pointing her wand at Yaxley. He was knocked sideways off of the steps and out of the protections of the Fidelius Charm. “Obliviate!” she continued. Yaxley looked extremely confused and in a daze when his fellow Death Eaters went to his side. They asked him what happened, but he couldn’t tell them; he had no idea who they even were. Emily smiled to herself as she tucked her mirror back into her purse and pulled out her Deluminator. She didn’t feel like sticking around for them to find her. Five minutes later, she Apparated into a forest. She looked around and saw Harry and Hermione crawling over to Ron. A little ways off into the distance, she watched them silently, not giving them any indications to the fact that she was there. She nonverbally said the spells that would conceal her and watched the trio. She listened to their strained voices as Hermione worked away on Ron’s limp body. His whole left side was drenched in blood. Hermione was finally able to stop the blood, but Ron had already passed out. Harry pulled out an eye that kept turning round in its socket. It was Mad-Eye’s eye. Ron groaned loudly from the ground and Emily sighed in relief that he was okay. It was only her second day on the job and they’ve already been hurt. Emily watched as Hermione started putting incantations around the three of them to conceal themselves. She chuckled to herself as she recognized them all as the ones she had just put around herself. Their tent sprang up and Harry and Hermione dragged Ron inside it. Emily decided she’d do the same because sleeping on the ground last night only made her extremely sore and stiff. She pulled her tent out, waved her wand, and it sprung to life too. She walked inside and threw her purse onto the chair. She went to the kitchen and made a ham and cheese sandwich on wheat bread, light mayo. She grabbed a Butterbeer from the fridge she had stocked up and went to sit on the couch, which was so conveniently stationed so she could watch the trio in their tent. Her hand flew to her stomach as she thought of the sickness that engulfed her not too long ago. It must be a stomach flu, she thought to herself. She decided she’d leave in the morning, since she only wanted to make sure that the golden trio was okay. Besides, she knew she’d be getting a call from Snape soon… Emily pulled out her mirror, about to call George, but thought better of it. She didn’t want to tell him what happened because then he’d worry. She sighed, propping her feet up, and decided upon Ginny instead. “Ginny Weasley,” she said to the mirror. It took about three rings before she answered, appearing where her reflection had been so shortly before. “Emily?” Ginny asked. “Yep, it’s me… What’s going on at your end?” Emily asked. “Not much, you heard about the new Headmaster, right?” Emily choked a little. She had to keep up pretenses, so playing dumb was the best way. “No, who is it?” Emily asked. “Snape,” she muttered mutinously. “You have got to be kidding! That foul little prat is Headmaster, after he killed Dumbledore?” Emily spat, faking outrage. “Yeah, have you not seen the papers lately?” Emily shook her head so Ginny continued. “They have a warrant for Harry’s arrest to question about the death of Dumbledore. They know that he was at the scene of the crime, so now they’re playing it off as he did it.” “And the Ministry is allow—oh yeah, they took over the Ministry, I forgot,” Emily mumbled miserably. “So they’ve got the paper too, then?” Ginny nodded. “This is just…” “I know,” Ginny agreed. They sat there in silence for a few minutes. “How come you haven’t been getting the papers? Aren’t you and George at home?” Ginny asked in confusion, breaking the silence. “I left, Gin,” Emily said quietly. “Dumbledore gave me a mission too, and I’ve set off on it.” “How’s George taking it?” “Not so well,” Emily whispered. “I miss him,” she said after a moment’s silence. “Is the mission important?” “Yes, I don’t think Dumbledore would have asked if it wasn’t important,” Emily said quietly. Ginny just nodded. “I wish you were here; It’s basically just Neville, Luna, and me,” she said. “I’m sorry, but even if it weren’t for my mission, I wouldn’t be able to go back. Bellatrix wants me dead; they would have killed me if I went back, especially now that Snape’s there and they’ve taken over the Ministry. I wouldn’t have lasted five minutes.” “I know, I just miss everybody,” she whispered. “Me too,” Emily whispered. “Going on a mission alone is, well, lonely.” Emily and Ginny talked until Ginny had to go to class. Emily sat back on the couch and watched the trio. She couldn’t hear anything, but she could see them perfectly. Emily fell asleep that night on the couch. She stayed up for as long as she could manage, watching Harry as he sat against the side of the tent to keep watch. |
I still think we should have Remus's reaction, and when he can't find her. |

Hello Emily. I don't know how you can write Emily so brave, and it seem real! I could not leave my hubby for such a mission. It's hard for me to leave him to go to the grocery store! Have you shopped for groceries? A person could die of shock at the prices. Anyway, that's neither here nor there. I love how brave she is.:P But still, I would have said good-bye to my husband.
