Hello Emily. Great post. Ahhh! I'm so glad Emily told George, and the way she told him was wonderful. She didn't try to sound all brave, and "I have to do my part" type way of telling him. He might've thought she was trying to compete with his role he played in getting Harry to the Burrow, and tried to talk her out of it, or worse yet; forbid her to go. We can all imagine the problems that would have caused. So, I'm very pleased with how you had her tell George. And I am very pleased with Georges' initial reaction. Perfect. And the resolve was wonderful. Now, she can leave on her mission in complete confidence that he stands behind her. A very comforting thing, and the memory can help her through trying times when she's in the field, so to speak.
Great post Emily.:glomp: I'll be waiting for more. Oops:P I mean't, I'll be watching for your next notice. Please have a wonderful day. I hope things look up for you, whatever the problems were yesterday.

Lol, jokes. I think I'm glad you don't go into Remus's reaction. We'd all like Emily to be alive be the end of it...

Oh Emily! You are evil. I think it might be a Scottish thing  We are very emotional  And I agree with Ruby85 Please don't kill off you main Character!!!!!!!!!! We all love her too much. On second thoughts i think you should assure us that she isn't going to die because too many characters die in the last book and you can't let George lose Fred AND Emily. Just something for you to think about :D

Sorry I think I'm on full rant mode today

So, you know that happy post that I said was next? I was mistaken. But this one isn't really sad and the next one is the one I was thinking about. ^_^

On July 31st, Emily and George made their way to the Burrow to help celebrate Harry’s birthday. They were all sitting in the garden where several tables were pushed together. There were purple and gold streamers and lanterns decorated around their get-together.

“Out of the way, out of the way!” Mrs. Weasley sang as she came through the yard with a cake floating in front of her. It was in the shape of a large Snitch.

“That looks amazing, Mrs. Weasley,” Harry said.

“Oh, it’s nothing, dear.”

Everyone came—Hagrid, Remus, Tonks. They all talked for a while until they saw a bright silver weasel resolve in the yard—it was Mr. Weasley’s Patronus.

“Minister of Magic coming with me,” Mr. Weasley’s voice sounded from the animal. The Patronus dissolved as everyone remained quiet.

“We shouldn’t be here,” Remus said quickly. “Harry—I’m sorry—I’ll explain another time—” Remus took hold of Tonks’ wrist and pulled her away, Apparating beyond the fence.

“The Minister—but why—? I don’t understand—” Mrs. Weasley stuttered.

Seconds later, Mr. Weasley and Rufus Scrimgeour appeared out of thin air at the gate and made their way towards the group.

“Sorry to intrude,” Scrimgeour said. “Especially as I can see that I am gate-crashing a party.” He looked over at the cake. “Many happy returns,” he said.

“Thanks,” Harry replied.

“I require a private word with you,” Scrimgeour said as he looked at Harry. “Also with Mr. Ronald Weasley, Miss Hermione Granger, and Mrs. Emily Weasley.” Emily stared at him, shocked.

“Us?” Ron asked, also surprised. “Why us?”

“I shall tell you when we are somewhere more private. Is there such a place?” he demanded of Mr. Weasley.

“Yes, of course,” Mr. Weasley said nervously. “The, er, sitting room, why don’t you use that?”

“You can lead the way,”
the Minister said to Ron. “There will be no need for you to accompany us, Arthur.”

Emily had an idea she knew what this was about. The Minister must have found out that they were all going on missions and planning to drop out of Hogwarts. Harry flicked his wand to create some light in the sitting room. Scrimgeour sat in the sagging armchair while Harry, Hermione, and Ron squeezed into the sofa, leaving Emily to sit on the arm of the sofa.

“I have some questions for you four, and I think it will be best if we do it individually. If you three”—he pointed to Harry, Hermione, and Emily—"can wait upstairs, I will start with Ronald.”

“We’re not going anywhere,”
Harry said while Hermione and Emily nodded their agreement. “You can speak to us together, or not at all.”

“Very well then, together,”
he said, shrugging after he gave Harry a cold look. “I am here, as I’m sure you know, because of Albus Dumbledore’s will.”

The four of them looked round at each other, clearly shocked.

“A surprise, apparently! You were not aware then that Dumbledore had left you anything?” he asked.

“A-all of us? Me, Emily, and Hermione too?” Ron asked.

“Yes, all of—”

“Dumbledore died over a month ago. Why has it taken this long to give us what he left us?” Harry interrupted.

“Isn’t it obvious?” Hermione asked. “They wanted to examine whatever he’s left us. You had no right to do that!”

“I had every right,”
Scrimgeour said. Emily crossed her arms over her chest and narrowed her eyes at the man. “The Decree for Justifiable Confiscation gives the Ministry the power to confiscate the contents of a will—”

Emily listened as Hermione argued with him about the possessions. She gulped as she tried to think about what Dumbledore had wanted to leave her. It had to have something to do with her mission, but why wouldn’t he have given it to her when he gave her his Deluminator and the various books? It made no sense to her. As she tried to figure out the reasons for why he did it, Emily heard the Minister start reading the will.

‘The Last Will and Testament of Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore’… Yes, here we are… ‘To Emily James Remus Amelia Sirius Black-Weasley, I leave you my reading glasses, in the hope that you will find them handy when you are with your husband.’

Scrimgeour grabbed a small case from a bag. He handed it over to Emily, who opened it cautiously. She looked at the small pair of glasses. When you are with your husband? What did that mean? She looked up to find them all staring at her.

“Those are of Dumbledore’s own design,” Scrimgeour said, studying her. “Why would he have left you those glasses, Mrs. Weasley?”

“To read, I suppose. What else could they do?”
she asked angrily.

“I was hoping you could tell me,” he spat.

“Obviously if you couldn’t find anything, I doubt there’s more to them,” she said in an irritated voice as she snapped the case shut.

“And what was it about your husband, Mrs. Weasley?” he asked, a hard look in his eyes.

“Your guess is as good as mine,” she said coldly.

“Is there a certain phrase you have with your husband? Something that could trigger the glasses?” he asked suspiciously. Emily hadn’t thought about that before, but now that she did, she knew that must be how they were worked.

“Nothing in particular,” she said indifferently. “We tell each other we love each other, but that’s hardly a phrase,” she continued.

“Why don’t you try it?” he asked persistently.

Emily narrowed her eyes angrily. “Fine, if it will shut you up,” she finally said, huffing. She opened the case again and put the glasses on, which were a perfect fit. As she touched the frame of the glasses, she whispered, “I love you.”

They all held their breath as nothing happened. Scrimgeour stared her down. “Satisfied?” she sneered at him.

“Hardly,” he grimaced. Emily took her glasses back off and gently put them back in their case. Scrimgeour went on reading the rest of the wills, but Emily paid no attention. She tried to figure out what her glasses could do. They were obviously for seeing something, but she didn’t know what. Her thumb rubbed circles into the hard case as her brain whirled around the mystery. She wanted to be alone so she could try it out and say the magic words.

Emily was woken out of her reverie as Harry and the Minister started a shouting match.

“You go too far!” Scrimgeour shouted as he stood up. Harry jumped to his feet as well. Scrimgeour stepped forwards and jabbed his wand at Harry, creating a hole in Harry’s shirt.

“Oy!” Ron exclaimed as he jumped up. He raised his own wand, but Harry stopped him.

“No! D’you want to give him an excuse to arrest us?”

“Remembered you’re not at school, have you?”
Scrimgeour asked. “Remember that I’m not Dumbledore, who forgave your insolence and insubordination? You may wear that scar like a crown, Potter, but it is not up to a seventeen-year-old boy to tell me how to do my job! It’s time you learned some respect!”

“It’s time you earned it,” Harry said coldly.

Footsteps thundered through the house as Mr. and Mrs. Weasley burst through the room.

“We—we thought we heard—” Mr. Weasley began as he looked at Scrimgeour’s wand and how close him and Harry seemed to be.

“—raised voices,” Mrs. Weasley finished, panting slightly.

The Minister took a few steps back from Harry. “It—it was nothing,” Scrimgeour growled. “I…regret your attitude,” he said as he looked at Harry. “You seem to think that the Ministry does not desire what you—what Dumbledore—desired. We ought to be working together.”

“I don’t like your methods, Minister. Remember?” Harry said as he raised his right fist and showed him the scars from spelling I must not tell lies. The man’s face hardened as he turned away and limped from the room without another word.

Mrs. Weasley went after him, stopping at the back door. She watched him for a minute, and then called, “He’s gone!”

“What did he want?” Mr. Weasley asked as Mrs. Weasley hurried back over to them.

“To give us what Dumbledore left us. They’ve only just released the contents of his will,” Harry said.

Over the dinner tables in the garden, the four objects Scrimgeour had given them were passed around. They all exclaimed over the Deluminator and Hermione’s book. They wondered why Dumbledore would have given Emily and Harry a pair of his glasses and an old Snitch though.

“Harry, dear, everyone’s awfully hungry, we didn’t want to start without you…Shall I serve dinner now?” Mrs. Weasley asked as her husband looked at the Deluminator for the fourth or fifth time.

They all ate quickly, sang “Happy Birthday”, and then ate cake. Afterwards, the party broke up.

“Are you coming home with us tonight?” Emily asked Fred as George wrapped his arms around her waist.

“I think I’m going to stay here,” he said quietly as he glanced at George. Emily turned to look at George, but he looked away quickly. Emily just nodded at Fred before leading George off towards the opposite side of the garden. She twisted in his arms so she could see his face. He looked at a place above her head as she searched his face.

“What did you tell him?” she whispered.

“Just that my time with you was limited and I wanted as much alone time with you as possible,” he whispered back as his arms tightened around her waist.

Emily cupped his face in her hands. “Your time with me lasts Forever and Always, I’m just going on a little trip,” she said as her thumb created soothing circles over his jaw line. George still wouldn’t look at her so she stood on her tippy toes so that her eyes were level with his. “You want to spend time with me, yet you won’t even look at me,” she whispered.

Sighing, he closed his eyes and leaned his forehead against hers. “Promise me that whatever you’re doing, you’ll be careful and come home to me,” he whispered. Emily’s hands moved to his hair as his hands grabbed handfuls of the cloth on her back.

“I promise,” she whispered. He opened his eyes, staring at her intently before he kissed her full on the lips. Without releasing her or her lips, George Apparated them back to their home, where the door appeared, and carried her inside and up the stairs.
