Hello, my name is Peony, and I specialize in doing things others wouldn't normally do. Therfore my poetry is a characteristic mix of depression and...happiness?...more like gleeful abnormality.

I kneel before him,
my hair covers my face,
and I'm glad,
for if he could see my expression,
I would undoubtably be dead,
He aims his wand at me.
A test I must pass.
Do I really want to?
No choice.
And He-Who-Must-not-be-named aims his wand at me.
Crucio!

I lie in my bed,
tears streaming down my face,
I raise my hand,
wiping away those wet signs of weakness.
The Dark Mark burns on my arm.
And He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named aims his wand at me.
Crucio!

I'm on a bloodstained ground,
cries of fear and pain,
they ring in my ears.
The war to end all wars they say,
well, it's ending here for me.
And He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named aims his wand at me.
Avada Kedavra!

In case you couldn't guess, this poem is about Severus Snape. And, yes, it is depressing. Not all of my stuff is though, as I've told you before. So come back, I'll soon have more in store.

There was a black doggy named Snuffles,
And a little girl dressed him in ruffles,
He upset the tea over the dolly on his knee,
And out went the doggy named Snuffles.

I don't want to die,

I want black desolation,

Embarassment courses through my soul,
hurrying, whipping, the blood to my cheeks,
no-one could ever know,
no-one but me
and that is bad enough.
Silly thoughts, crazy hopes,
blossoming in a foolish, fertile mind,
only to be cruelly, carelessly crushed.
Leaving the planter hot with shame,
all the more so because no-one ever knew the plants were there.

Golden Chains
Your kindness is golden chains round my neck.
My failure is dark water,
Your kindness drags me down,
And my failure swallows me up.

I can't seem to write long poems these days.

Short and sweet! Well not 'sweet' but these are REALLY good!

Rapunzel

Golden clouds do wrap themselves round the windows of my tower,
piercing beams of sunlight struggle through,
Some say there is magic in this shining creamy hour,
perhaps if I didn't see this everyday I'd say so too.
At night the stars glitter at me,
like cold eyes, uncaring,
Looking down at my book I see,
Damsels and princes daring.
But none of them prove intrueging.
When darkness cloaks the land,
The warm shimmers of candlelight,
Are more comforting than,
The silvery star gleaming in the night.
And my hair grows ever heavier,
Till I'm sure my neck will break,
And I long to throw myself over,
See how long hitting the ground will take.
But as I sit here,
The tower grows ever taller,
Down my cheek comes a tear,
I want to scream and HOLLER.
I want to yell and shout.
But...
I'm a cowardly yellow canary,
And I can't ever get out.

Unhappy Bride

She's clad in white silk,
She's draped in pearls,
Icy and cold like a tall glass of milk,
A veil covers her curls.
Her rosy face is pale today,
Her hands are all atremble,
She reaches to wipe a tear away,
As outside the crowds asssemble.
The golden band around her finger,
brings to mind shackles of old,
once she read and dreamed of,
Wizards and princes so bold.
But hopes are crushed,
and dreams are crumbled,
She stares into the mirror,
Closes her eyes and remembers,
when her dresses were torn,
And her hair tumbled.
Now in all her clothes so fine,
Cold realization washes over her mind,
Washes over her heart.
The ring burns,
Her stomach turns
And she takes a step out the door.

You're very good with moods, aren't you?

It's interesting to see the two poems with very similar themes. Was that intentional? Anyway, I like how you've vocalised the feelings of desolation, hopelessness and the sense of being trapped. Good job, and keep writing!

I identify especially with 'your kindness drags me down'. Call it the story of my life, if you will. I'm rather tongue-tied at the moment, so I'll just say I agree wholeheartedly with Arkee Maldemer.
