| Looking around the potions room Amy noted that nothing had changed since last year. As she passed Snape to get to her usual seat at the back of the room she could feel her heart thumping in her chest and was sure he could too. Potions class had made Amy nervous, although she wasn’t really sure why.
‘You were the one who made friends with the troublemakers of the class Amy, so you cant really complain…’ She thought to herself with a glance at Brian and Dan. Ever since Snape had realized that she was friends with the two boys who disrupted his class on a daily basis he had hated her. But when it came right down to it, Amy wasn’t too upset that he hated her because she hated him right back.
“Take your seats!” Snape snapped, walking to the front of the room. Amy looked up as Dan took the seat to her left. Feeling his leg brush hers as he sat down, Amy felt herself blush and didn’t know why.
“Today we will be making the potion known as Dre’Veis. Do any of you know what this potion is capable of doing?” Snape asked, his oily voice seeming to savor the name of the potion.
As soon as he asked, Molly’s hand shot into the air, hitting Dan on the side of the head. This was greeted by an ‘Ouch!’ from Dan and a few giggles from the rest of the class. Snape turned his gaze upon them, giving what Amy had come to call the ‘evil eye’. It was times like these when her aunts superstitious nature seemed to show up in Amy; all of the sudden she wished she had an amulet against such things.
“Mr. Foster, would you like to tell me what Dre’Veis does?” Snape asked.
“To be honest with you, sir, I just don’t know. Perhaps you could ask Molly?” Dan said, rubbing his ear.
“Twenty points from Ravenclaw!” Snape snapped. “I take it you did not read your 6th year potions text book. Miss Arbor, would you like to tell me the answer?”
Amy had been ready for this. Taking a deep breath Amy recited the answer. “Dre’Veis, also known as the potion of the soul, is a potion that, when given to someone, can take their soul. One might say it mimics the effect of a dementor’s kiss. However, there is one difference. A soul gotten using this potion can be stored in a special type of bottle, known as a soul bearer, and used or returned to the souls original body.”
“Miss Arbor is correct.” Snape said, turning towards the class. “Dre’Veis is a potion that is capable of removing someone’s soul from their body. The removed soul can be stored in a glass bottle called a soul bearer. Here is one such bottle.” Snape paused and pulled a small glass bottle from his robes. It was rather plain except for the top, on which a small yellow star rested. Amy smirked; yellow stars were very un-Snapeish.
“These bottles are very hard to come by because they are so hard to make. Although it may appear to be a very insignificant thing, don’t let the appearance of this bottle fool you. There are hundreds of complex spells upon it to keep souls from escaping.” At this, Molly’s hand shot into the air along with a Hufflepuff’s.
“Yes?” Snape asked the Hufflepuff, a blonde haired girl that Amy didn’t know.
“Do you have a soul in there now?” She asked timidly. Amy felt it was a good question and leaned forward to hear Snape’s answer.
“No, there is not.” Snape answered shortly, making her wonder if there was more to it then that. Turning to Molly, Snape nodded slightly.
“Sir, you said that ‘There are hundreds of complex spells upon it to keep souls from escaping.’. Does that mean that there can be more then one soul stored in the bottle at a time?” Molly asked.
“Yes, it does. No one knows exactly how many souls can be stored at once because the potion is used so rarely. In fact, before I was interrupted, I was about to explain something very important about this potion.” Snape paused for effect, and then continued. “There are many things you can do with a soul. One of the most feared is an effect much like that of the Imperio curse. If you have someone’s soul you can control them completely. Unlike the Imperio curse, you can not fight it. There is no release until you are given your soul back or you die.”
A silence greeted these words as the students tried to understand what they had heard. A moment later Snape continued.
“I tell you this information because next Friday you will be attempting to make this potion. I do not expect any of you to succeed. In fact, I would not be surprised if one of you managed to blow him or her self up…” Snape paused to look at Brain, who blushed. Last year he had succeeded in exploding his first potion. Whether or not it was on purpose or not, Amy still didn’t know.
“Your homework, due Friday, will be an essay on the uses of a soul bearer. You are dismissed.” Snape said.
Amy gathered up her things and headed out of the room and into the hallway with Dan, Brian, and Molly behind her.
“Homework already?!” Brain said loudly, startling some passing second years.
“Well, what did you expect?” Molly asked, clutching her books to her chest.
Brian mumbled something that sounded like tea and biscuits and Amy laughed. However, her laughter was cut short as Snape’s voice floated down the hall.
“Miss Arbor, Mr. Foster, which of you left a jar of spilled caterpillars on the floor?”
“It wasn’t me!” Dan said quickly. Amy glanced at him, wondering if he was telling the truth.
“It wasn’t me either sir.” She said.
“Because neither of you will accept the blame, Ill take thirty points from Ravenclaw to cover you both. See that it doesn’t happen again or it will be sixty.”
“Dan, how could you!” Amy asked when Snape was out of ear shot.
“I didn’t, but I think I know who did.” Dan said, with a glare at a nearby doorway. Malfoy stood there, an empty jar in his hand and a grin on his pale face.
“Ill kill that kid!” Brain said with feeling, stepping towards the doorway.
“No!” Molly said, holding him back. Lowering her voice, Molly looked at Malfoy. “We’ll get him back another way, but not here.”
“Wow, saint Molly strikes back!” Amy said with a grin, wondering if she was dreaming.
“I’m just sick of him getting away with everything, is all.” Molly said with a little smile.
“Me too.” Dan said with feeling.
“I think we all are.” Brain said.
Amy checked her watch and was startled to see that they only had ten more minutes to get back to the Ravenclaw common room to get their books for Charms. Coming up to the portrait hole for their common room, Amy looked at Molly.
“You know you guys should really learn the passwords.” Molly said with a sigh.
“Why should we when you always know them?” Brain asked.
“Good point. Alveadda.” Molly said. The portrait swung forward and they rushed to get their books. Meeting up in the hallway, they ran down the hall to the charms classroom to find everyone already seated. Choosing a spot in the back, Amy took her seat next to Molly. Looking around she groaned. They had charms with the Slytherins.

| Professor Flitwick stood of a pile of books behind his desk, surveying the class cheerfully.
“I can see that a large group of students have come back to this class!” He said, beaming. “This is very good news indeed. Today we will be reviewing spells we already know. Please do so non-verbally. Most of you should remember this work from last year. Feel free to partner up, and get to work.”
“What did we do to deserve class with the Slytherins?” Amy asked with a sigh. Getting up, Amy walked over to the cupboard to get pillows for herself, Molly, Dan and Brian. Grabbing some overstuffed purple throws Amy turned to go back to her seat and bumped into Malfoy.
“Watch it!” Malfoy said sharply, shoving her to get to the pillows.
“No, you watch it!” Amy said, giving his a hard shove back that made him hit his head on the cupboard door. Walking towards her friends, Amy turned back to see Malfoy glaring at her.
“Serves him right for shoving you.” Dan said, nodding at Malfoy and helping himself to a pillow.
“He is so fully of himself.” Muttered Brian with a look of disgust.
“Really?” Molly asked with an innocent look on her face. “I think he’s quite cute!” Amy laughed as Brian and Dan stared at Molly.
“It’s just a joke guys, relax.” Molly said.
“Thank God, you scared me for a minute.” Dan said.
Amy turned her attention to her pillow. Concentrating hard, and biting her lip so she wouldn’t utter the spell out loud, she made her pillow lift slowly a few feet into the air.
“Is that all you can do Arbor? Jeez, and they said you were good. I suppose Ravenclaw isn’t all its cracked up to be, is it now?” Came Malfoy’s taunting voice. Amy glared at him, wishing she could hex him on the spot. That can be arranged… Amy thought to herself.
“No, it’s not all I can do, actually.” Amy said with a smile. Pointing her wand at Malfoy she concentrated for a moment. With a loud ‘pop’ Malfoy’s hair turned bubblegum pink. It was a most unflattering color on him.
“Well done Miss Arbor! Thirty points to Ravenclaw!” Said Professor Flitwick, beaming at her. Amy smiled smugly at a horror struck Malfoy. “Mr. Malfoy, can you change your hair back?” Flitwick asked.
“Of course, Sir.” Malfoy said. Pointing his wand at himself Malfoy concentrated for a moment and his hair turned bright orange. Amy snickered; Malfoy had gotten himself so worked up that he couldn’t even manage a simple charm.
“I’ll do it Sir.” Amy said, pointing her wand at Malfoy once again and changing his hair back to normal.
“Well done, another twenty points to Ravenclaw!” Professor Flitwick squeaked, toppling off his books. Climbing back up, he waved at the class to go back to work.
“That was brilliant Amy!” Molly said, grinning. “And you’ve won back all of the points we lost in potions.”
“I was just helping you to get Malfoy back, is all. Gosh, I hate that kid. He’s so arrogant, acts like he has something stuck up his--” Amy was cut short when Brian poked her. Lifting his wand, he levitated his pillow a few feet above the ground. Moving it towards Malfoy, he allowed it to drop, landing on his head and causing him to let out a loud grunt.
“Mr. Malfoy, is something wrong?” Professor Flitwick asked, looking up from his paper.
Malfoy pointed at Brian. “He just dropped a pillow on my head Sir!”
“Mr. Malfoy, it was a pillow. I doubt it will do any lasting damage. If you do, however, feel it will then you may take a visit to Madam Pomfrey.” Professor Flitwick turned to Brian. “Mr. Schwartz, did you drop a pillow on Mr. Malfoy?”
“Yes, I did Sir, but I didn’t mean to.” Brian said. “I was levitating it and I got distracted and lost control. It just happened to hit Malfoy.”
“Do be more careful next time Mr. Schwartz.” Said Professor Flitwick. When he had looked away, Brian grinned.
“Come on; admit it, that was good.” Brian said. Before anyone could answer the bell rang.
“Come on, let’s go!” Amy said, grabbing her books. Walking down the hallway, the group headed up the stairs towards Transfiguration.
“I’m so glad we all passed our O.W.L.S and we can be in classes together.” Amy said happily. She had been worried that their group might be split, but it hadn’t.
“Yea, it was lucky.” Dan said with a smile.
“I wonder who we have transfiguration with.” Said Molly.
“Well, it’s not the Slytherins, they headed downstairs.” Said Brian.
“I bet they have potions now.” Amy said thoughtfully. “It was ridiculous what Snape did today, taking all those points for something spilled that we didn’t even use. I’m so sick of him.”
“Aren’t we all?” Molly said, glancing at Brian and Dan who nodded.
“We could shame him…” Brian suggested.
“Publicly…” Added Dan.
“In class…”
“At dinner…”
Amy grinned at the thought of Snape sitting in front of everyone at dinner and suddenly having his robes turned canary yellow.
“I suppose we could… But we would need to plan it well.” Molly said with mischievous grin.
“How about this weekend?” Dan suggested. “Then we can sit outside by the lake in peace and plan.”
“Sounds good to me.” Brian and Molly said together. Amy watched as they glanced at each other and blushed. Is there something going on? Amy wondered.
“Oh, darn, the bells about to ring!” Molly said with a note of urgency. Glancing at her watch Amy smiled, they still had four minutes to get to class.
“The Transfiguration room is right there Molly, no need to have a pixie.” Dan said.
“I don’t like being late.” Molly said, looking sheepish.
“Yea, yea…” Dan said as they walked into the room.
Fallowing Dan, they took seats by the back. Amy sat between Dan and Brian and surveyed the room. Professor McGonagall wasn’t there yet, but some other Ravenclaw students were. Also in the room was the infamous trio, Harry, Ron, and Hermione.
“So, we have Transfiguration with the Gryffindors…” Molly said softly, staring at Hermione. This is going to get interesting. Thought Amy with a glance at Hermione and Molly. -I hope you like it, for some reason I cant get into the swing of writing this fan fiction... Bleh.- |

| “Seeing as this is sixth year, this is a very serious class. Any fooling around and you will be out of this class before you can say ‘he did it.” Professor McGonagall said, staring at the class with stern eyes. Amy shifted uncomfortably in her seat and glanced at Dan and Brian. She couldn’t help but wonder what she would do if they got her, or themselves, thrown out of this class. “Today we will be beginning to review how to transform parts of ourselves. Your first lesson in this will be to transform a partner’s eyebrows to the color blue. I have found that people are sometimes more prone to make mistakes this way, so I will be watching you all very carefully. Please get into groups of two.”
Amy turned right away to Molly, knowing she would be eyebrowless in seconds if she paired herself with Dan or Brian. Molly apparently had had the same idea and was looking at her expectantly. Amy raised an eyebrow and she nodded.
“Now that you have found partners, please face each other and decide who will try first.” Professor McGonagall said.
“I’ll go,” Molly said, with a glance at Hermione. “If that’s ok with you?”
“That’s perfectly fine with me.” Amy said, with a small smile. Grasping her bracelet under her cloak, Amy felt comforted.
“Now, move your wand in the way you would to levitate something.” Professor McGonagall said. “The spell is Amveada. You should remember this from the end of last year. I will be walking around the room while you practice.”
“Oh great, I just know I’m going to mess up now…” Muttered Molly as Professor McGonagall walked their way.
“Don’t worry about it!” Amy said through her teeth, her grip on her bracelet tightening.
Molly pointed her wand at Amy’s face, saying “Amveada” with about as much feeling as a dead person. Amy could tell by the look on Molly’s face that nothing whatsoever had happened.
“Now Mrs. Setler, try that again with more feeling.” Professor McGonagall said before glancing around the room and seeing Harry Potter with bright blue eyebrows and a beaming Hermione.
“Good job Mrs. Granger, thirty points to Gryffindor!” Professor McGonagall said, turning back to Amy who was staring at Hermione. “Are you ready to try again?” She prompted.
“Yes, I think I am…” Molly said. She assessed Amy for a moment before crying “Amveada!” Amy felt a faint presence on her face and then it was gone.
“Wonderful job Mrs. Setler, keep up the good work.” Professor McGonagall said before turning to Ron Weasley and Dean Thomas who seemed to be having so difficulties; Ron’s eyebrows were now thick and curly.
“My turn I guess…” Amy said, forcing herself to let go of her bracelet. “Ready?” She asked Molly, who nodded. Lifting her wand, Amy cried “Amveada!” She was pleased to see Molly’s eyebrows turn a nice shade of purple.
“I thought they were supposed to be blue.” Brian said, gesturing to Molly’s eyebrows.
“I know, but purple is prettier.” Amy said, laughing and turning Brian’s eyebrows yellow. Amy stood back and looked Brian over. “Yellow makes you look weird.” She decided, turning them back.
A few minutes later the class ended and Amy, Molly, Brian, and Dan walked to the great hall for dinner. After they had all eaten, they went up to the common room.
“You know… I think I’m going to go to bed.” Brian said, yawning falsely. Amy looked at him, wondering what was up. “I was thinking; let’s meet back here at midnight and do a little exploring. What do you guys think?”
“Sure, I’m up for something exciting.” Amy said smiling. Dan and Molly nodded.
“Ok, I’ll see you guys in a few hours then.” Brian said with a wink, crossing the common room and going up the staircase to his dorm.
“I think I’m going to join him if were getting up so early, night.” Dan said, fallowing Brian.
“What do you think Molly, early to bed?” Amy asked because Molly was staring at the dark stairwell Dan and Brian had just disappeared up.
“Yea…” Molly said faintly. Amy got up and headed to their dorm, wondering what would happen tonight. |

| Aw, thanks for the comments *Luffs comments*! Hope you like the update (Whoops, I didnt realize for some reason I had three lessons in a row, sorry about that.) .
Monday night’s explorations went interestingly enough, with Dan upsetting a suit of armor and cause Filtch to come looking for them. The rest of the week passed rather slowly, with none of the excitement of the first day. It was on Friday, a bit before potions, during their brake that things began to get interesting again. If interesting was the right word.
‘…tap…tap…’ Amy looked up from her Transfiguration essay to see a large black owl taping at the window.
“Brian!” Amy said, poking him with the tip of her quill.
“Hermes!” Brian said, rushing to the window. Hermes flew in and perched on the table, holding up his leg. Amy removed the thick envelope and handed it to Brian, who ripped it open. He started reading, went pale, and sat back down. Amy waited for a moment before speaking.
“Brian, what’s wrong?” She asked as Dan and Molly came up behind them lugging some books they had gotten from the library.
“Its mum and dad, they- They’ve decided to get divorced.” He said faintly, looking sick.
“That’s awful!” Molly said, sitting down and looking at Brian sadly.
“I know.” Brian said softly. “I guess I expected this, with all the fighting, but I had hoped they would, well, you know. Figure it out and all.” He laughed bitterly. “They expect me to tell Jenna, but how can I do that? It’s her first year here; I don’t want to ruin it for her.”
Jenna was Brian’s younger sister, who was a first year. She, like her brother, was in Ravenclaw but there was a similar situation between her and Brian and Amy and her sister; they rarely saw each other because their schedules were so different.
“She was doing so well too.” Brian said, getting up. “I’m going to take this to my dorm, put it somewhere safe.” He said, heading towards his dorm. When he had left they all sighed. After a long silence, Dan finally spoke.
“Well, at least he was forewarned, you know? It’s not like they all the sudden decided to split up.”
“Yea, I guess that’s good. But it’s going to be so hard on Jenna! We should do something for her.” Molly said, always the motherly figure.
“Like what?” Amy asked bitterly. “Make her cookies and say; ‘Here, sorry Christmas will never be the same? That your parents will never be together again?’”
“Good point.” Dan said, looking up as Brain came down the stairs. He was still pale, and looked almost as if he had the flue. Amt wasn’t sure what to do or say to make things better; she had never known anyone whose parents split up.
“Brian, if you need to talk, we’re all here for you.” Molly said, getting up and giving him a hug. He returned it halfheartedly but gratefully, obviously deep in thought but welcoming the comfort.
“Thanks.” Came his faint reply. He sat down slowly and looked at his Charms book. “Well, we’d better get to work.”
Everyone nodded and tried to concentrate on his or her work, but no one really got anything done. Brian stared at the same page for ten minutes, his eyes glazed over and his quill resting in his hand. Amy, Dan, and Molly kept exchanging glances every few minutes, looking up from the books they couldn’t bring themselves to read. When it became apparent, twenty minutes later, that none of them were going to get any work done Dan suggested they go for a walk. They all looked at Brian, who nodded.
“Yea, that sounds good.” He said, clearly happy to be able to do something distracting. The group headed slowly down to the main entrance, where they headed out into the open air. The warm weather, blue skies, and gay sunlight seemed to mock their unhappiness.
“Funny, isn’t it?” Brain asked, as they walked around the lake. “How bad news always seems to spoil perfect weather…” He trailed off and they were left in an uncomfortable silence. Brain took the opportunity to chuck a rock into the lake, watching it displace the water in a series of ripples and sink to the bottom.
After half an hour of sitting by the lake and watching the birds flying over the forbidden forest, Amy got up and dusted herself off.
“I think we’d had better go.” She said softly, not wanting to break the moment of peace. Everyone got up and grabbed their bags, which had been thrown carelessly on the lush grass, and began to head back. Amy gripped her bracelet, more for comfort then anything else.
“Hey,” Brain said, trying to smile. “We’ve got potions class next; maybe I can take some of my anger off on Snape?”
Everyone laughed softly, but Amy felt a twinge of fear; Brian had never talked like that before. |

| After making a quick stop at the Ravenclaw common room to collect their things, the group headed down to the dungeons. It was with a subdued air that they reached the potions room to find a shock; it was closed and there was a note pinned to the door. Dab read it with a bemused smile on his lips.
“‘Class will not be held today as Professor Snape is ill. Please use your free time to catch up on any work.’
“Well, this is a first.” He stated in a tone of disbelief. “And this clearly wasn’t written by Snape either- ‘Please use your free time to catch up on any work.’ As if he’d say that.”
“Well, it is really unexpected. Is Madam Pomfrey helping him…?” Molly asked, clearly not expecting an answer. A sniff came from the corner of the hall, where a skinny Hufflepuff girl lurked.
“Professor Snape is going to be sent a potion in a few minutes.” She said with an air of disdain. Turning on her heal, she stalked up the hallway.
“Well,” Brian said, watching her walk away. “That wasn’t very nice.”
“That’s Kayla for you.” Dan said, staring after her with a grimace. “She asked me out once and I ah… Said no. I think she bore a lasting grudge.”
Amy laughed and pulled on his sleeve. “Well, unless you guys want to make old Snape a get well card, we’d better be going.”
Molly sighed as if she had been looking forward to potions class. “I suppose your right.” She said slowly. She, Amy, and Dan turned to go when Brian let out a strange noise, somewhere between a snort and a shout.
“Oy!” He said loudly, staring at the door.
Amy turned and looked at him. “Oy what?” Amy asked, curious in spite of herself.
“Snape’s sick and Madam Pomfrey is going to give him something—Why hadn’t I thought of this before?” Brian asked distractedly. Everyone stood still, watching him, and he finally continued. “Madam Pomfrey usually only brings things to you if you need it specially made, usually teas.” Brain said excitedly, turning to Molly. “Remember that time McGonagall was sick and she sent you down with the tea after she cured your headache?”
“Yea, I do. They use teas because usually, the illnesses that affect adults that badly can not be cured with something pre-made. It must be fresh so it’s stronger.” Molly said, almost as if she were reciting from a textbook.
“Exactly!” Brian said triumphantly. “So, if Snape must be delivered a tea, who is going to bring it to him?”
“A student I suppose…” Dan said, his eyes widening. Amy felt her own go big as she began to suspect what he was planning.
“Yes!” brain said happily, seeming to have forgotten about his parents and sister for the time being. “So, what is we have say…” He looked them each over for a moment and settled on Amy. “Amy pretends to have a cut- No, really have a cut- and then she can offer to bring the tea down when she’s healed? Then we can put a curse on it!” Brain said joyfully. The others looked doubtful, but Amy realized this might just be the chance to keep Brian’s mind off of his parents. Seizing the opportunity, Amy nodded.
“I think it’s a great Idea Brian!” She exclaimed with a smile plastered on her face and a stern sidelong look at Dan and Molly. Apparently they caught on fairly quickly because they too nodded.
“All right.” Brain said, taking charge. “Amy, would you give me your arm?” Amt offered him her left arm, wondering what spell he would use to give her a cut. Pulling out his wand, Brian tapped her arm and deep red blood began to well around a long, thin cut. Amy stared at it.
“How come it doesn’t- How come it doesn’t hurt?” Amy asked with a slight gasp.
“Because, you’re not actually cut.” Molly said, answering for Brian. “It’s a simulation that will heal itself when it comes in contact with a real healing agent.” Turning to Brian, Molly smiled. “You did a really wonderful job on it!” She said respectfully. Brian beamed.
“Well, chop chop Amy- up to the hospital wing. We don’t want you to bleed to death on us, do we?” Dan said, ushering her along the corridor. Amy allowed herself to be pushed along, wondering how she would bring up Snape and his tea. It seemed that all too soon they were outside of the hospital wing and Molly had bushed her through the door before disappearing around the corner as not to be seen.
“My dear!” Madam Pomfrey shrieked when she saw Amy standing there, her robes covered in ‘blood’. Amy noted that she was stirring a cup which was emitting a faintly floral smell. The nurse hurried over to her and grabbed her arm. “Do sit down dear; I’ll go get the healing balm…” She muttered, placing the tea on the bedside table next to where Amy sat. “Now, how did you get that nasty cut?” She asked distractedly.
“Oh! I was um…” Amy thought for a moment. “I tripped in my common room and my arm hit a chair.” She said, crossing her fingers and hoping Madam Pomfrey was busy enough not to have noticed her delay in answering.
“Oh dear, you must be careful.” She said, appearing with a jar of thick balm. Rubbing it on the cut, it disappeared slowly, sinking into the skin. “Encansio!” Madam Pomfrey said, pointing her wand at Amy’s arm and robes. Immediately the blood vanished, leaving Amy clean once again.
“Oh thank you!” Amy said, grinning broadly. “If you don’t mind me asking, what type of tea is that? It smells so good!” Amy hoped she wasn’t being too obvious.
“It does, doesn’t it?” She said offhandedly. “But it’s not meant for normal drinking- It’s a powerful medicine. In fact I’m just about to take it down to Professor Snape.”
“I- I could take it if you wanted.” Amy said innocently.
“Oh dear, that’s so nice of you but-” At that moment Madam Pomfrey was cut off by the appearance of a frantic boy who was slowly growing a large pair of antlers. “On second thought, could you?” She asked, hurrying towards the frantic first year who was actually trying, to Amy’s amusement, to pull his antlers off. “I think I’ll be busy for a while.” She said.
“Sure…” Amy said softly, grabbing the cup and hurrying out of the room. There waited Molly, Dan, and Brian, whose tense faces broke into grins at the sight of the tea. “Come on, we have to keep this hot.” Amy said, just as screams began to come from the hospital wing. “You didn’t do that, did you?” She asked as they hurried down to the dungeon.
“Lets just say that we might have helped it along a bit.” Dan said with a laugh.
“Let’s just hope the poor boy doesn’t know it was you, and isn’t scarred for life.” Amy replied tartly. Reaching the potions room door she stopped. “Where are Snape’s rooms?” She asked curiously.
“Right back there.” Molly replied, point to a door a few yards back.
“Ah.” Amy replied. Handing the cup to Brian she glanced expectantly at him. “You do to honors- what’s going to happen to Snape when he drinks this?”
Brian clearly hadn’t thought this part out. To give himself time he handed it to Molly. “How about we each place something different on it?” He suggested. Everyone nodded.
“All right…” Molly said, pulling out her wand and tapping the cup. “When Snape drinks this he will appear, to everyone but himself, to have pink hair for a day.” She said with a giggle. Handing it to Dan she grinned. “Your turn.”
Dan tapped the cup and smiled. “After he drinks this, he will burp bubbles for a week.” He handed it to Amy, who frowned before tapping the cup.
“I made your bubbles blue.” She confessed, staring at Dan. “I thought that would be more interesting.” She added with a shrug. Handing it to Brian she waited.
Tapping the cup, Brian grinned evilly. “He will only be able to sing, not talk. And he will be singing ‘It’s a small world after all’, over and over again for two days.” He stated.
“Oh, and by the way, after he takes the tea, his body will shut down for a few hours to allow it to heal. Just so you all know…” Dan said, drawing upon his knowledge of medicines.
“Nice!” Molly said, grinning. “Now, shall we knock and leave it outside his door or…?”
“No.” Dan said almost instantly. “Too suspicious. We have to knock, I’ll be you he will tell us to leave it outside.” He said confidently. “Molly, you do it.”
“Me?” Molly asked in horror. Dan pushed her down the hall until she stood before the door. She tapped timidly at the door.
“Leave the tea; I’ll be out to get it in a moment.” Came Professor Snape’s voice. It was unusual however; he sounded weak and pitiful. Amy looked around and quickly moved into a dark corner at the end of the hall, sliding next to Dan and Brain. After a moment, Molly joined them. A moment later the door opened and a hand reached out and clutched the mug, pulling it inside.
“Now what do we do?” Molly asked.
“We go back to our common room and we wait.” Dan answered, moving out of the shadows. Thanks for the comments Mia! I do love the comments… *SQUEESPAZ* Well, this fan fiction is coming to a close, although it’s not quite over yet. I know it was a rather short (and possibly disappointing) ride. I do hope you’ll read my next one, when I figure out what it will be, and finish up this one. Thanks for reading ! |

also, be careful of the mentions of cutting. It's close to the brink of making the fanfic a higher rate *shrug* at least it was simulated though, so you'll probably get away with it *nods*

| Amy and her friends headed up to the Ravenclaw Common Room, being careful to stay hidden. It would not due for a teacher to find them wandering the halls- It would only raise suspicion. Amy was having seconded thoughts anyway. She couldn’t help but feel that they had done something awfully wrong and that it would come back to haunt them. Shaking her head, she climbed through the portrait hole and joined Dan, Brian, and Molly by their traditional fireside seats. Brian seemed to have forgotten about his family for the time being, and Amy was grateful for that. At least our little escapade served some purpose Amy thought ruefully.
Brian looked at them each in tern, his eyes bright. “That was fun! We should have thought to do something like that earlier.”
Molly sniffed. “It’s not like Professor Snape gets sick all that often, is it?” She asked with a hint of annoyance and anger. Brian looked at her in confusion.
“It was just a bit of fun Molly…” He said faintly, as if trying to convince himself. Amy understood his confusion- Molly liked him and usually took his side in an argument. Now she was glaring at him.
“Well, I think from now on we should lay off him.” She said, referring to Snape. Amy felt herself nod.
“I agree.” She said, taking a deep breath and making brief eye contact with Molly. “I think we’ve been silly, really. It’s our last year here! Shouldn’t we be doing… I dunno, other stuff?” Silence fallowed her words and for nearly a minute the only sound was that of the crackling fire as it spit and hissed. Finally, Dan broke the silence.
“I suppose you’re right Amy. And you too Molly,” He added hurriedly. “It’s our last year, and I don’t know about you, but I want to get good grades. Let’s lay off Snape from now on.” His eyes shifted to look at Brian only. “Deal?” He asked quietly.
They all chorused their agreement- Brian was last and the most reluctant. A familiar look of remorse and defeat was in his eyes, and Amy knew he was remembering the letter.
“Well,” She said, smiling cheerfully. “Why don’t we get some homework do--”
At that very moment she was cut off as the Headmaster entered their common room. It went dead silent- The first years tossing a Fanged Frisbee back and fourth instantly hid it and everyone else stared. Dumbledore stood, looking old and careworn. Slowly, he turned to look around the room. As his eyes traveled over the silent students he managed a small smile. “Don’t mind me.” He said lightly, turning to where Amy and her friends sat. Most unexpectedly, he crouched by the fire and looked at them all.
“Er… Hello Sir.” Molly managed to gasp out. Amy felt a sinking feeling in her stomach- What was he here for?
“Hello Molly.” He said. His eyes met each of theirs in tern and Amy felt herself shiver. “I was wondering if you could come to my office… And we could have a word?”
Silently, they all nodded. Following Dumbledore out of the portrait hole, she heard her fellow Ravenclaw students whispering. They followed Dumbledore down hallways, finally coming to a statue. “Acid pop!” He said, and it sprang aside to reveal a spiraling staircase. They fallowed him silently into his office, and he shut the door.
Amy was neither surprised nor uncomfortable to be in his office. They had been called up on several occasions and she was used to the bright colors and strange trinkets by now. Looking around closely, she noticed that very little had changed. She watched as Dumbledore sat down and drew up four chairs in front of his desk. He surveyed them behind his half moon spectacles for a moment before gesturing for them to sit down.
“I am not sure if you are aware why you have been summoned here.” He said softly. “It is for a grave matter, I assure you. I doubt you intended it to go so far, but it must be discussed.”
Dan interrupted. “I’m sorry, Sir, but… By any chance, is this about the dung bombs?”
Dumbledore smiled faintly. “I wish it were. To answer your question, no it is not about the dung bombs.” He frowned and become serious, his blue eyes piercing. “It is about Professor Snape. Are you aware, that only minutes ago, he was found dead in his room?”
Eek! I forgot about this… ><. How’s that for dedication? I’m almost done, so I figure I might as well finish it off. Hang in there- Only a few more posts left (my guess is two). Hope you enjoyed it !
Special thanks to Jan for not killing me for wanting it brought back from the dead *hugs*. |

| The effect of Professor Dumbledore’s words was immediate. Moll let out a small gasp, slumping back into her chair. Dan and Brian’s eyes got large, and they each stared at the other in horror. As for Amy, she closed her eyes for a moment, thinking that this was what it was like to go into shock. Her body had gone cold, her mind numb. When she opened her eyes, the sun was setting behind Dumbledore in a brilliant red and gold haze. Amy swallowed her mouth dry. The sky was the color of blood.
Brian was the first to find his voice. “Professor Dumbledore, we didn’t kill Professor Snape.” He stated weakly.
Dumbledore’s eyes narrowed. “Brian, I do not doubt that you didn’t mean any harm, but when you bewitched his drink, you did something wrong.” The headmaster sighed heavily, and the lines on his face seemed engraved so deeply that they sunk into him. Dumbledore seemed to register the further surprise on their faces. “Yes, I know you bewitched his drink.”
“Sir, we didn’t mean it.” Molly said softly. Her eyes were filled with tears, and one fell slowly down her cheek. It sparked in the red light, reflecting the dreams that were slipping away with every passing second. “We- we just wanted to have some fun.” She added.
“I understand. I was hoping you could tell me the events of this afternoon, fill in the gaps? I need to know everything.”
It was Dan, the ‘leader’ of their group, who looked at Amy for support. She took a deep breath. “We had found out Professor Snape was ill. We decided, as a group, to sabotage the tea he would most likely be sent and bewitch it, to make silly things happen to him. Dan, he cut my arm with magic. It didn’t hurt, but it was something Madam Pomfrey could heal. I went to her, and she… She let me take the tea. We all put a charm on it, Dan made it so he would burp bubbles for a day. I made the bubble blue. Molly…” Amy couldn’t remember what Molly had done.
“I made it so he would appear, to all but himself, to have pink hair.” Molly confessed, a miserable expression on her face.
Brian sighed heavily. “I made it so he would sing ‘it’s a small world after all’ for two days. Professor Dumbledore, this was my idea. If you’re going to punish anyone, punish me. They don’t deserve it.”
“No!” Amy said loudly, staring at Brian. “You aren’t going to take the fall for us. We all agreed to do this, you didn’t make us. Sir,” Amy said, turning to Dumbledore. “If you’re going to punish him, you’ll have to punish me too.”
“And us!” Added both Molly and Dan at the same time.
The Headmaster held up his hand. “Thank you for explaining what happened. From what I can tell, none of you will be punished. You didn’t intend what happened, and you seem genuinely upset at his death. But I must impress upon all of you what you have done. You have killed a man. That won’t go away, no matter how long you live. I am going to make this incident known only to the heads of houses. All other staff and students will be under the impression that Professor Snape died a natural death- a heart attack. You must never tell anyone.”
“We won’t.” Dan said faintly.
Dumbledore turned around and looked out the window. The red sun had sunk below the tree line and the light was receding into darkness. His shoulders were slumped, his back bent. He looked older then time itself.
“Sir?” Brian asked cautiously.
“Yes Brian?” Dumbledore replied.
“How did Professor Snape die? I mean, what went wrong?” He said in a rush.
Dumbledore turned, his eyes glittering with the tears that Amy had feared seeing. “The spells, combined, are deadly. He died… Quickly. His heart stopped.”
With that they were dismissed from the room. Amy felt exhausted, tired beyond belief. She walked slowly down the stairs, using the unforgiving stone walls for support. It was only when they had exited the stairway that people began to speak.
“No one knows, right?” Dan asked calmly. His eyes betrayed him, showing the fear and desperation underneath. “I mean… No one saw us.”
Brian suddenly looked ill. “Well…”
“What do you mean, ‘well’?” Molly asked. “They either did or they didn’t.” She snapped.
“Remember, Kayla, the girl Dan didn’t go out with?” Everyone nodded and Brian kept going. “Well, she saw us before we did anything.”
“That’s different.” Amy said sensibly, her voice shaky. “We had every reason to be there, we thought we had class like everyone else.”
“Amy’s right. No one but we and Dumbledore know. Soon the heads of houses will, but we can trust them.” Molly said, settling the matter.
“I’m going to bed.” Amy said when they reached the common room. Everyone else nodded, and she and Molly went upstairs to go to bed. Amy was comforted by the thought that things would be different the next day. If she knew how different things would be, she wouldn’t have slept so peacefully.
I hope you enjoyed the update, thanks for reading! |

| The funeral was held on a Friday on the Hogwarts grounds, in front of the forest. The whole of Hogwarts turned out, even thought it had been raining only hours before and the grounds were bleak and soggy. Heavy grey clouds rolled overhead and a light wind rustled the trees of the Forbidden Forest.
To four students; Amy, Dan, Molly, and Brian, it felt unreal and cruel. Dan and Brian had considered staying behind, but Molly had convinced them that they had to pay their respects. Amy secretly wondered if Molly was trying to punish herself for what she helped to do- she knew that seeing Snape lying dead in a coffin was the last thing she wanted. Amy herself was unsure how she would react, and pondered this as she walked down the sloping lawns towards a mass of chairs which stood before a small mahogany coffin. She was surrounded by silent students, who were under the belief that Snape had died an accidental death. She wondered ruefully what they would do if they knew the truth.
Turning her head to look at Molly, Amy caught sight of Daraco Malfoy. She had always known he adored Snape, and she felt a pang of pity for him, mean as he was. His face was pale as parchment, his eyes downcast as tears threatened to leak out. Turning away, she was confronted by the sight of Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, and Ron Weasley. They were always together, and now they walked slowly. Hermione was crying, and the boys looked lost.
Amy turned to Dan, walking next to her. “I don’t know if I can do this.” She whispered softly to him. Dan glanced at her, forcing a small, sad smile. Reaching her hand, he gave it a squeeze and didn’t let go.
When they reached their seats, Amy sank into hers weakly. Save for the rustle of trees and sniffling of students, the air was silent. Reaching over, Amy grasped Molly’s hand in her own, still holding Dan’s in her other. In turn, Molly held Brian’s, and they formed a chain. A chain of guilt, pain, and sorrow. Of lost innocence and missed purity.
It seemed like hours before everyone was seated, an eternity of waiting. Amy felt her eyes drawn to the elaborately carved wooden box where her former teacher rested, never to rise again. Feeling the tears welling up, she closed her eyes and waited. When she finally opened them, Dumbledore had stood up and was approaching the coffin. His walk was slow and labored, and his face was drawn and cracked with the lines of age. He stood before the school and the teachers, surveying them for a moment before speaking.
“Professor Severus Snape was a great man.” He said softly, his voice, so full of emotion, somehow managing to carry to everyone. “We come today to remember him, and to mourn the loss of a great man.”
Dumbledore paused, his eyes flicking to members of the crowd. “Some of you will remember him as your head if house, others as a potions professor. No mater what he was to you, he has affected you and his death will as well. Snape died of a tragic accident- an illness if you will. Magic can not bring back the dead, and we must live with that fact for the rest of our lives.”
Amy tuned out, trying her best not to cry. If she did, she knew it would be all too real. Snape’s death, her guilt, and the irreversibility of it all. After a time, she returned to herself and glanced at the headmaster.
Dumbledore was glancing around somberly, gesturing at the coffin behind him. “I want you to say your final goodbyes in whatever way you feel necessary. But first, let us have a moment of silence.”
All of the students bowed their heads. Amy heard repressed around her and she had to blink back tears. When Dumbledore finally raised his head, students began to get up. Some headed for the coffin, others for the school. Dan tugged her in the direction of Hogwarts and Amy follow meekly, Brian and Molly trailing behind them.
“So, he’s really gone, isn’t he?” Dan said softly, his voice full of remorse.
Amy glanced at him sorrowfully, knowing he wanted her to tell him it was all a dream. “Yes, Dan, he is gone.” She said quietly, staring ahead with determination.
“If only we could go back, do things over…” He muttered. Amy felt herself shudder.
“You can’t meddle with time, what’s past is past. We….” Her voice broke, and a tear slid down her cheek. She had broken. “We have to be strong, keep going.”
They had reached the doors to Hogwarts, left open during the ceremony. Students passed quietly thought them, shedding their sorrow and attempting to go on. Amy, Dan, Molly, and Brian headed for the Ravenclaw common room. When they reached it, they al sank into chairs by the roaring fire.
After a time, Dan spoke. “That was…”
“Awful.” Brian muttered.
“Terrible.” Molly said at the same time. They lapsed into silence for a moment, before Molly spoke again.
“I’m going to go to my room for a moment and change into dry robes. I’ll be right back.” She said, getting up and heading up the spiral staircase. Dan and Brain sat around lethargically, staring into the flames. It was several minutes later that they heard a scream coming from the girls dorms. Amy didn’t have time to rise before Molly came running down the stairs, her face white and her hands shaking. She was clutching a piece of paper.
“What is it?” Dan asked in alarm. Molly stood there for a moment, at a loss for words. Finally she spoke, her voice shaking and hands trembling.
“I- I went upstairs…” She stammered. “And…. And I found t-this.” She raised her hand, with the piece of nondescript parchment clutched between her fingers.
“And…?” Brain asked a little impatiently.
“It says; ‘I know what you did. You’re next.’”
Dan looked ill, and Amy gasped, feeling the blood drain from her face. As for Brian, he looked confused.
“What’s that got to do with anything?” Brain asked.
“It means,” Amy said slowly. “That someone knows what we did. Someone knows we killed Snape, and they want to kill us.” This was the final ‘installment’ of Killing Snape. I hope you enjoyed reading it, with its ‘I know what you did last summer’ parallel at the end. Thank you to everyone who commented! I’ll be asking the Mods to move this in a few days, so it wont be in the ‘Other’ section for too much longer. Thanks again for reading! |
