Okay, so the last post. I couldn’t post it yesterday because KasTan wouldn’t open due to SS’s database error, so I’m posting it right now. I just hope it’s still the 28th in some part of the world, so I can say it ended on the 28t.

And I’m kind of sad about it ending. Usually, I don’t like my own writings, but KasTan is one of my favourite FFs. =[

Kashan had no concern for the multitude of students flitting past her. Five minutes after her conversation with Lily, she was standing by the school gate, waiting for Tanzeel, hoping against hope that he was alone.

If you exist, God, let Tanzeel be alone, she thought quietly.

He was.

For once, Tanzeel really was unaccompanied. His bag slung negligently over one shoulder, his hair messy, he could not have looked more unconcerned as he walked across the school grounds, towards the gates. Kashan made a split-second decision – she stepped in front of him.

“Tanzeel,” she began quietly without giving him to react at all. “For everything that happened in the past few weeks … I’m sorry. I want David to know that, too; only, somehow, I – well, my pride won’t let me go tell him that,” she said truthfully.

But Tanzeel wasn’t even looking her way; for a moment, Kashan wondered if he had even heard her. Then he shrugged. “Sure, it’s okay,” he said unconcernedly.

“I’m really sorry,” was all Kashan said in reply; though she could not have possibly said a shorter statement to express what she felt, the feeling she put in her words made even Tanzeel look at her. He nodded at her; then he left.

Lily just had to give her best friend a quick hug the moment he was out of sight. “I still can’t believe you stamped on your pride like that,” she said, still sounding half in disbelief. “You actually apologised. Wow, Kash.”

“I guess I did,” Kashan said, smiling slightly. But it was a very different smile from her usual one – For once, that bright smile, the one Kashan Aleen was so famous for, actually vanished completely from her face, not even leaving the slightest trace behind. Hard though it was for her to believe it, Kashan had a very, very strong feeling it would not return anytime soon, if ever.

Rolling up her sleeve, she slipped out the deep gold, eagle feather quill she always kept in her pocket, and scratched out “KasTan” written on her arm. Then, turning on her heel, she walked off, causing Lily to bite her lip before hurrying to catch up with her.

This was not the way things should have gone, and Kashan knew it. Perhaps she had rushed into things. Perhaps she had initially been too overconfident about the guaranteed success of her plan. Perhaps she had made the mistake of getting together with David Raymond.

Or, perhaps, she had just finally met her match in Tanzeel Amir.

Hmmph. Perhaps... but I was still hoping for a happier ending, at least a more uplifting one for Kashan. Which doesn't mean I don't love the way you did end it <333

You know Max I really like the "Resolve" in the end of the fic. I mean her feeling and knowing it was over and all the 'questions' you had during the whole story like "are they going to work out" finally got answered. And I also think its good that you weren't "swayed" by the haggles of fans to make your story contain a love-story between the two of them. I also think its really "real" seeming and really love that about the story.

That was a brilliant ending. Although I suppose I wanted a happy ever after for Kash =/

That was perfect. I love how it's a romance, but everything doesn't end up perfectly. Its not a fairly tale ending, they don't ride off into the sunset on their white horses : D great job!!

Well, I guess so. The thing is, I really want to write a sequel [and I will], but I don’t promise to write it anytime soon. I mean, who knows, I might start in the coming week but, then again, I might not. I’ve been writing like crazy for a year or two now, but there’s a lot more to my writing life then just SS. I write on and for a dozen other places, and I have to give them time and attention, too.

I want to write the sequel to KasTan when I’m sure I can give it my full attention and skill . . . *hopes like crazy that the lecture makes sense*

It’s sad that Kash didn’t end up with Tanzeel, like you’d normally expect in any love story, but this isn’t a love story, this is better, it’s more like real life because you don’t always end up with the person you want… I just loved it ancient luff! It was brilliant, from beginning to end!
