January 10 (10:30pm),

So here is the nightmare update. I have had them ever night since my last entry. Some are more clear then others. Some are stronger then others. I haven’t been sleeping because of them. Not only do they involve me and my father, but they have been involving my mum, my cousin Suzanne, and Lima. They are the 3 most important people in my life right now.

Every nightmare is different. Sometimes, each person including myself, are killed by the killing curse. Other times its other dark curses that kill us. A couple times....there was a werewolf. The ones with the werewolf weren’t very clear so I couldn’t tell exactly what was happening. Hopefully I will never have to see those dreams clearly.

Also, I received a strange letter today. I don’t know how I got it, because of that fact that I can only write letters to my mother and it defiantly wasn’t from my mother. I can’t say much about it, because if this journal ever got into the wrong hands I would be in big trouble because of that letter, well the contents of it, and what I'm going to participate in.

Anyways, I'm off to bed. Hopefully I can sleep tonight. I'm so extremely tired.

January 28 (9:42pm),

Up until today, I've been very depressed, and tired. My nightmares have steadily gotten worse since my last entry, but today was a great day.

Today was the first Hogsmead visit since winter break. I finally got to see Lima. She could tell something was wrong. So I told her what had been happening and about the anniversary of my fathers death and all. She was so caring, and worried about me. It felt great to have her there making me feel better.

Anyways, we went to the ice cream shop, and I bought her some ice cream. We talked a lot, and joked around. It was great. I’m not sure how it all started, but we had our first snog session. It was AWESOME! It was the best snog session I have ever had, and that’s saying a lot because I have had many. The funniest part about it was....it was her first snog session. It was cute.

So after about 10 minutes of snogging, we decided to stop because people were staring. After that we had a great conversation about everything. I love how well she gets me.

Anyways, off to bed. No nightmares tonight. I'm quiet relaxed, and happy.

BREAKING NEWS! ANIMAL ROBOTS LOOSE IN COOPERS SCHOOL FOR YOUNG WIZARDS!

Man was that funny. Some goofy little Ravenclaw first year just went running around releasing robots everywhere. It was hilarious. Though my friend Ryan, the Ravenclaw Qudditch captain, he didn’t think it was very funny, especially when the kid lost their house some points.

I saw some crazy animals too. Some weird looking birds and cats, it was freaking sweet! I wish I could pull a prank like that, but with the ministry officials running around I’m not that stupid.

Anyway....going to bed...maybe I can sleep tonight....hopefully the crazy robot animals won’t attack me. *laugh’s really hard*

So it is Valentines Day. Lima got her present for me, to me first, with a letter, sent via my mum. My mum rocks. She’s the best....anyways; here is the letter from Lima:

She got me this really awesome leather watch that I have been wanting for months now. I don’t remember telling her I wanted it. I'm thinking she talked to my mum about it. Here is a picture of the watch:

Lima's present that I got for her is a picture of me for her locket, a box made out of chocolate and full of chocolates, and a single red rose. I hope she likes it. I think she spent so much on me for v-day because she missed my birthday. Mostly because I didn’t tell her about it. Anyways, Happy Valentines Day! Oh and mum got me a box of chocolates and I sent her a dozen long stem red roses this morning. I ordered them last night. Here are pictures of the gifts I sent to Lima:

February 28 (3:45 am),

This is the first nightmare I have had since the Hogsmead visit in January. It was....I have no words to describe it. All I can do is give full detail about it. I will never forget this one.

I was by myself walking in a park, at night, in some deserted town outside of London. I could tell something was wrong with this place, I just didn’t know what. I heard a distant howl. I looked up and saw that there was a full moon tonight. I knew I had to be careful. I tried to apperate out of there, but for some reason I couldn’t use my powers. Suddenly I realized how close to the forest I was. I knew I had to get out of there as soon as possible.

Then I heard a twig snap about five feet away from me. Suddenly I heard the distinct sound of some animal growling. I slowly step away from that spot. Next thing I know a werewolf walks out of the darkness of the forest, growling and gnashing its teeth at me. I knew who it was right away... normally werewolves don’t have distinct features. But this one did. It had my father’s eyes, mouth, and nose. It was my father in werewolf form.

That was what made this nightmare even harder to go through. It was so vivid; I thought it was really happening. Once he came out, I was trying to tell him who I was, and trying to get him to realize I was his son, but as we all know werewolves kill no matter if you are friend or foe.

Suddenly, he lunges at me. He was too strong for me to handle, and I can handle a lot. Every scratch, every rip of my flesh, every single bite...I felt it, all of it. I was bleeding like crazy. Every second I was getting weaker. I eventually passed out. Then I died. I felt myself take my last breath of air. I watched as the moon set, and my father came back to his natural state. He was so mad at himself for what he was and what he had done to me, that he used the killing curse on himself. After that I woke up shaking, sweating, weak, and cried till I could pick up this journal to write it down.

I know I won’t be able to sleep after that. It was to disturbing, and real. I’m going to go take a shower, and catch up on some homework in the common room. I just can’t sleep after that.

Apparently this gives us another example refuting the idea that if you die in a dream you die in real life.

Even though this isn't really real life.

Those nightmares are definitely brutal! Poor Maddox.

The rest of the it was really cute. The Hogsmeade visit, the robots, Valentine's Day, etc.

Another great job with the writing.

March 4 (4:12pm),

Today is Lima's birthday. She doesn’t know that I’m sending her a gift. She also doesn’t know that I know it’s her birthday. Suz let me know in a letter, so I’m secretly sending her a present and a letter via my mum. I got her this really really expensive, (O_o), really expensive, I can’t explain to you how expensive, Coach Perfume. It smells amazing, and reminded me of her, when Suz sent me the sample. It’s a good thing Suzy knows Lima really well.

Anyways, I’m sending it off now. I hope she likes it. Suzy better be right or I’m going to send her a letter that’s attached to a dungbomb, that when she opens it, the dungbomb goes off. Heh heh heh.

How are you doing? I’m so worried about you. I’ve been worried ever since I last saw you and you told me about your father and the nightmares you are having. I hope they are not as bad now. But if they are still bad I’m always there for you to help you deal with them, you know that.

And while we are speaking of troubles, I got a Raven in my tea leaf reading yesterday. I know that I shouldn’t put much stock into that Divination stuff, but something about getting a death omen on my birthday unsettles me. I have a bad feeling, Mads, and I can’t get rid of it no matter how hard I try to. I just wish that I could know what was going on. Or get rid of that unsettled feeling that I have…

I'm glad she liked her present, but after her telling me about that death omen in her tea leaf reading; I'm a little worried. My mom got that same omen a month before my father was killed. I hope it was just a mistake on who ever was reading them with her's part, but stuff like that usually is true. I just sent her a letter back and hopefully it was just a mistake. We won’t know till it happens.

Anyways, I'm off to dinner.

March 17 (1:15 am),

So I got this secret letter from Tia, I don’t know how she got it to us all but we got it. Anyways, she had a massive party tonight at her house that isn’t to far from the school grounds. I snuck out and went. It was so much fun. I didn’t know Lima was coming until she got there.

It was so funny she was dressed in my clothes that she still had from the secret co-ed flying lesson. But she did have this amazing outfit underneath and man was she hot. I can’t even describe it...ahh…Anyways. She and I had a dance off. I of course beat her with my amazing hip hop, break dancing, and other styles of dancing skills. Cuz I rock like that. HA! But she was very good. She asked me if I would teach her, and of course I said yes, cuz like I said, I got mad skillz yo! Ha-ha!

Anyways, after the dance off we had some food, and we talked for a really long time. Then she pulled me off into a deserted hallway and threw me up against a wall and we had our second official snog session. She’s a feisty little bugger she is.
Anyways, after about 10 minutes of snogging she thought we needed to get back to the party so we did. We went and sat on the couch. She snuggled up to me and fell asleep, and I fell asleep not to long afterwards. It was around 12 ish when I woke her up and walked her back to the pathways that split the 2 schools. It was a great night. I just got in from walking the pathway here. Hopefully there will be more nights like that to come.

Well, I’m off to bed. Got classes in the morning.

Well....I feel like a rather big dork, but, I'm missing my family a lot right now.

Ever since I can remember, it’s only been me and my mum. I never knew my father, except for the stories that she told me about him. I didn’t know about his past until I was about 13, when my mum decided I needed to know.

Everyone says I look just like him. This, I’m guessing, is the reason I always wondered why people that knew him, and his past, stared at me so much. Sometimes I even get double takes on the street from people I know aren’t very good wizards just by the look of them. I've even had a wizard or two come up to me and say "Ryder Darcy? Is that you? I thought you were dead?" I would simply reply, "Ryder Darcy was my father, I am Maddox Ryder Darcy." Then they would pay their respects to me and walk away.

My father had a dark past. Before he met my mother, he was part of the left over Deatheaters, even though after this long, I don’t know why they would still be banded together, but they were. I believe they still are. Anyways, he was getting tired of the ridiculousness of the whole situation. He was tired of hurting people for no reason. He was tired of being the bad guy. He wanted to change. He wanted to be a better person.

How do I know this you say? I read his journals after I got out of my coma. He said, and I quote, "I hope my son never gets into a crowd like that. I don’t want him to make the same mistakes I have made. It isn’t worth it; It never was." My mom thought it would be best for me to read his journals. She didn’t want the same fate for her son as her husband had had, and I don’t blame her for that.

I was heading down that path. I put my mother through so much in the past couple years and I feel horrible about it. It’s the biggest regret I have. I really don’t know why I got into that crowd. Before I started hanging out with Rudolphus, I pretty much stayed to myself. I had friends, and obviously girls that were friends…ha....but I didn’t trust them like I should have. I should have never trusted Rudolphus.

Anyways, enough reminiscing...well thinking really. I’m getting hungry and lunch is waiting!

Well, my nightmares have been coming and going. I haven’t had that awful one again. I hope I never do. Lima wanted to know about them in the last letter she sent from her birthday but I neglected to say anything.

I don’t want her thinking I’m a crazy person. It hard enough to be away from her, and we still haven’t gotten to know each other as much as we wanted yet. I just don’t want her to break up with me over them.

I can’t control them. I can’t control what happens in them. If I could, I wouldn’t be having them at all. The last one I had was last night. It was me watching my dad being murdered. That’s the one I have the most.

Anyways, I need to go, got loads of homework to get done before bed.

I just read all of this and you are a really good writer.

Your character is really interesting and sort of reminds me of my brother.

It would be funny to see what happens if someone who shouldn't see this characters softer side found his journal.

So today was the last Hogsmead visit; And of course, what is a Hogsmead visit without a huge fight between me and my girlfriend. Seems like every time we see each other at Hogsmead we have a fight.

We were fighting about why I had been changing the subject everytime she asked me about my nightmares. I mostly wasn’t ready to tell her about them, and I was scared she would think I was a crazy malicious person or something.

I ended up telling her a nightmare about her. I could tell it scared her. But she told me she understood that I can’t control them.

I asked her if she wanted to hear the really bad one, and of course I told her. It was hard to relive. So hard in fact that I had to walk away from where we were sitting, in an area just off from the Hogwarts gates, so I could have a moment to myself. My emotions have been running high lately with the stress of my nightmares, and school and the anniversary of my father’s death still lingering over me. I don’t know why it affected me so badly this year.

Her reaction to my emotions was...well...perfect really. She came up behind me and gave me a hug, and told me everything would be ok. I just hope she’s right, and they start fading with time.

Anyways, off to get some homework done.

May 20 (11:43 pm),

So quidditch finals were today. We huffies were hanging out in the locker room before the game started, and the girls decided to pin me down and give me a manicure. My nails now hove the letters L-I-M-A on them and a heart on my pinkies....its a good thing the badger colors are black and yellow other wise I would have hurt someone.

SO then the game was starting and I couldn’t very well get rid of the paint when we had to get on the field. I do have to say, we played a great game. We were up in points, but at the end it was Ravenclaw that was the fastest. They grabbed the snitch and won. Of course I had to make a joke of myself. It was the last quaffle right as the snitch was caught; I went to get a goal and didn’t realize how close I was to the goal post. Well needless to say I woke up alone in the locker room. Which isn’t very good due to the fact that I was in a coma last summer. But I didn’t tell anyone that, and I should have.

Anyways, after I woke up, I heard the party going on out side the broomshead so I headed over there. Apparently Lima was very worried about me, so much so she freaked out and yelled at Punz for just leaving me in the locker room. Which was ok with me, but that’s another story. Apparently she made punz feel really bad, which isn’t a good thing, Lima could have handled it better, but whatever.

Then Lima gave me a potion to make my headache go away which I was very thankful for. Even though now I feel a little light headed and kind of tipsy. I'm almost wondering if the punch was spiked. But then again I did suffer head trauma and that could be part of it. Anyway for the rest of the night Lima mothered me, which was kind of funny because I kept calling her mum. She slapped me with a spoon. HA!

So once the party ended I walked her to where the paths separated. Now...I’m going to bed.

June 3rd (11:02pm),

Today has been a very interesting day. It all started in our DADA class. We were learning how to duel by using defensive spells. I figured it would be best if Nico and I were paired up, because of the fact that we went to Drumstrang and knew different spells, curses, and hexes then everyone else did; and of course, I wanted to beat the bloody crap out of Nico.

After class was over, we asked the professor if we could stay and have a duel of our own. The professor said we could stay as long as we liked. Finally...permission to have a real duel, not those wimpy duels they teach here. Of course he had to point out that my reflexes were off while we were practicing, which made me want to beat the crap out of him even more. But if we were going to do this, we were going to do it right. No fists involved.

The only rule Nico gave was, No unforgivables. This of course was fine with me. Personally, I only would use them if my life was in danger, hence using the cruciatus curse on Rudolphus just before I passed out and went into a coma. Anyways, so I went to the opposite corner and had my back to him as I removed my cloak and my watch. He said that I could go first and said, "...but that’s about as easy on you as I’m about to go." It made me a little angry that he thought I couldn’t handle fighting him. Boy was he going to get a shock.

My first move; I wiped around and threw a non-verbal striking hex at him. It wasn’t nearly as hard as it could have been, but it was a warning hit. Which of course he proceeded to tell me I hit like his mother which caught me off guard and got me thinking that he has actually been hit by his mother.

I, not realizing how quick Nico was, then got hit by the blindfolding hex, the joint in my right elbow was reversed, and my left arm went numb. I proceeded to do the counter curses or hex’s for each. While doing so Nico decided to send a stinging hex, which of course didn’t hurt since my arm was numb...retard...anyways, I then proceeded to send the hex that makes your shoes covered in stone, sent the same joint reversing hex at his knees, and sent the water conjuring spell to make him not so thirsty. Ha!

The joint reversing hex was deflected because he put up a protection spell right after I made his shoes stone, but he still was sputtering from the water that was coming from my wand. Though I noticed his clothes weren’t wet...strange really.

Then he proceeded to use the same striking hex to get rid of the stone around his shoes which sent bits of it flying in every direction, so I put up a shield charm to protect me from it. Then I received a couple hits from the striking hex he sent at me, and put my protection shield up, and felt the other blows, but not as hard as they are when you are actually being hit by them. Then the next thing I new...I was on the ground. I’m figuring Nico sent the slipping hex at me cuz there was no water on the ground and you can’t be stationary and the next moment on the floor. So I sent a flock of birds at him, the conjunctivitis curse blocking his vision, and the boil hex. He was only able to block the boil hex, and he deep fried my flock of birds.

The next thing I know, because I was laughing about the deep fried birds, I was flying through the air. Then, because I am a retard, I didn’t put my protection spell back up, and I was hanging in the air with lizards snapping at my face. I yelled impedimenta to get the buggers to slow down. Then I proceeded to roast the lizards to ashes, and got myself out of the air. At this point was Incredible Hulk like. I was very, very angry. I don’t handle my anger well, especially after the coma. I sent a non verbal; I guess you could call it a counter curse that Rudolphus taught me. It gets rid of any protection shields, and doesnt allow your opponent to have a shield for thirty seconds. In those thirty seconds I yelled at the top of my lungs, sectumsempra.

When Nico realized he couldn’t conjure a protection spell he took some potion. Once he got cut up on his arm, 2 very very deep gashes, I took a step back. I didn’t like how angry I had gotten. Apparently the potion that Nico took slowed down the blood from his gashes. Noting that I still had a protection shield around me he sent the slipping hex again, this time my left shoulder popped out of place, and a couple of my ribs broke. He made a statement about me slowing Rudolphus down. I was highly confused. Then he sent a gouging hex at me and an L shaped cut appeared on my right shoulder. Still wondering what he was talking about, and a little worried he might bleed out, I stood up, and sent a numbing hex to his arm that was bleeding, and just for fun...sent a really hard striking hex.

Then he said more about Rudolphus that confused me, "I mean, I expected him to put up more of a fight- not that I stuck around for long to test that theory out." What did he mean by that? I was very confused. But when Nico got the striking hex sent at him, he jumped up, did a protection shield, which was strong enough to send me flying backwards, and threw ropes at me.

Now that I was tied up, and happy to be lying down, as was Nico, he proceeded to make a deal. He would take the ropes off of me, and tell me about the situation with Rudolphus, as long as I promised not to proceed with the duel. Seeing as I was bleeding, had cracked ribs, and a dislocated shoulder, I happily agreed.

So he untied me and told me the story about Rudolphus. He visited his family during Easter for some party, and Rudolphus was there. Nico has a pre-arranged marriage, which he’s trying to get out of, and Rudolphus was messing with the girl, not surprised one bit about that, so Nico decided to come to her aid. Long story short, Nico ripped out Rudolphus' canines.

While listening to his story he gave me a potion for the pain, and also told me that I needed to keep a rein on my emotions and that I care too much and it’s very easy to make me angry. Of course I know all this. It’s hard for me not to be this way with all that I have had to endure in my life, but I wasn’t going to tell him that.

He also had a flask of firewhiskey, I was so happy when he shared it with me. Then he showed me the teeth. He made 2 necklaces out of some of the leather on my cloak. We put them on and decided that Rudolphus would freak if he knew that not only did Nico have one, but so did I.

Eventually we got up. Nico cleaned up all the blood and mess we made. He took me back to his dorm and fixed my ribs, dislocated shoulder, and my bleeding.

I’m not sure what Nico and I are now. We definantly aren’t enemies any longer; especially since we both know it wouldn’t be good to cross the other. You never know, we might become friends eventually. I know one thing....when Lima finds out....she will be furious.

Night

June 10 (12:05 am),

So I’ve been in this secret society right. It is 2 people from each house, a girl and a guy. We were brought together by other secret orders to find a treasure. Tonight was our first real meeting with the girls. We put all our answers to our riddle together and the treasure, we believe, is Hogwarts. Well, it is Hogwarts, because we had a specific letter we had to find in each of our letters. Mine was R. All the other letters ended up, along with mine, spelling Hogwarts.

Eventually we got the headmistress to come and help us with our plan. And to my surprise Cela, the only Ravenclaw first year girl I know, and whom is apart of the secret society, went to go get a sneaky Slytherin. Funny thing that sneaky Slytherin wasn’t just any sneaky Slytherin, it was the sneakiest...Nico. Who was also....Cela's brother. I was surprised; I didn’t think a sweet innocent girl like that could be Nico's sister. I just chuckled.

Eventually we came up with a plan to get Minister Cooper to get us back at Hogwarts next year. I'm hoping it will work. I haven’t been to Hogwarts, but from what I have heard, it’s a great place.

Anyways, I need to get some sleep, OWL's are this week and I need all the rest I can get.

June 15 (7:15 pm),

Oh finally I’m home and in my own bed! Lets see where should I start....Ah yes! The feast yesterday was amazing. They held it at Hogsmead, and it was co-ed. So I got to hang out with Lima and a few other friends.

There were 2 announcements in the speech that the headmistress gave. One being that since there was points given unfairly to Slytherin, which made them 2000 points ahead of everyone, that no one would be getting the house cup. Also, we would be back at Hogwarts next term. Our hard work for the secret society didn’t go to waste after all...thank goodness.

I also met this girl who knew Nico, and almost gave away the duel to Lima, but thank goodness she put it in terms that would only get Lima suspicious, she didn’t ask any questions. I wanted to tell her on the ride home.

Speaking of the ride home, Lima was more then furious with me, when I told her about it, but I was very sweet and calm. Mostly because I knew I was in trouble. She especially liked that I said the L shaped scare was for her. After I got her calmed down, we just talked about our families. We wanted to get to know each other better, since we didn’t have the chance before we became a couple.

I also got to meet one of her friends, Bella was her name. She was really cool. I was surprised in how much of a good mood I was in. Anyways, so now I’m home. I was greeted by my mother, who was, as always, overly excited to see me. She’s amazing I tell you. Anyways, dinners ready, and I’m starving.

Part of what I most like about reading this, (besides the Nico mentions

) is your ability to make the diary entries read realistically.

Contrary to popular belief, us males aren't always emotionally stunted cavemen and Suzypants, you have shown that in a really realistic way. Maddox is very much a guy- but you allow his softer side to come through in a way that is only likely to happen in a journal. ~~...or maybe as pillowtalk~~

I like that you aren't afraid to show Maddox' faults, even though I think there is a lack of evidence of his insecurites- which I know he has

- but then I guess he'd be the type that wouldn't really want to acknowledge them eh?

As for your writing style; You know I think you are amazing in that regard (rawr Yugioh epic!) and it is actually noticeable as you read through these that you are getting better with how it all flows together (at least in my opinion as a reader)

Everyone should congratulate you for managing to condense the duel down that much......
