“So last night I had an idea,” Draco was saying as Ginny walked into the Room of Requirement.
“Yeah, I know, you came into my room. Great idea,” she said sarcastically. Draco laughed and shook his head.
“No, no, I had another idea. Well, it was a question.” Ginny grinned.
“I’m sorry, Draco,” she said dramatically, “I’m just too young to be married!” Draco burst out laughing. He didn’t know why he found it so funny, but for some reason he did. Ginny jumped back in surprise at his reaction. A few minutes later when he was ok, Draco smiled and said,
“No, not that. I was going to ask you though… if you’d go to the ball at the end of the year with me?” He posed the question and Ginny looked shocked. She wasn’t expecting the question it was only… holy Merlin! When did it get to be March? And the ball was to be in May. She supposed two months was a great time to start getting dates… though most boys would ask only a week in advance.
“A little early to be asking, no?” she asked, not actually answering him. Draco shrugged.
“I like to plan. So will you?” he pressed her. She didn’t know how to answer. They were dating, of course, so it would seem appropriate for them to go together… especially since she had a dress and all. Plus, she wanted to go. So finding no reason to say no she said,
“Yes!” She grinned and laughed. Draco hugged her and kissed the top of her head. Ginny hugged him back. She looked up at him and he looked down at her longingly, but seemed trying to restrain himself. Ginny didn’t want him to, though, so she stood up on her tip toes and reached her lips to his. Draco took this as the ok and kissed her back. When they finally came apart they found themselves on the couch.
“I can’t wait,” she whispered. He pulled her close and kissed the top of her head again. She snuggled her head to his chest and closed her eyes, smiling softly.

Classes went on and weeks went by until it was the first Saturday in April. There was a Hogsmeade trip this weekend and Ginny was going to go with Draco. She was going crazy trying to find an outfit. Finally she settled on a jean skirt and a white polo shirt. She looked… cute. Probably young, but she didn’t care. It was cute. She brushed her hair and rushed to meet Draco. This was the first Hogsmeade trip that the pair was going on this year. It was a little odd to Ginny, seeing all the places her and Harry used to go to together. It made her a little sad, but she was happy to be there with Draco.
Once Ginny got past that day, she got over Harry. She stopped worrying about him, knowing he’d be fine, and she let herself live and be happy with Draco. It was amazingly wonderful, well, for two and a half weeks until the surprise came. The surprise came in the form of the letter. It simply told her to turn around, but all she saw when she turned around was her bed.
“That’s weird,” she said to herself, turning back around. Then she screamed.
“Shhhh!” said a figure, it was calming, it was comfortable, it was something she had heard and seen many times, but now it seemed very, very out of place.
“What are you doing here?” she asked the figure in front of her, knowing full well who it was, “And how did you get in here?”
“I called in a special favor,” it was a young man, and he winked at her as he sat on the bed.
“Gin, I came back for you,” he told her.
“I-I don’t want to fight anymore. I just want to stay here.” She replied to him. The man laughed at her.
“Gin, I- er, not to be… rude or anything, but we beat him. It’s all over! We won.” He got up and embaraced her. The man even tried to kiss her, but Ginny turned her head. Ginny was excited, but this changed her world so much.
“Ginny, I came back for you.”
She sighed, she’d tell him later. “It’s good to see you, Harry.”

Thank you *takes bow* haha, I'm so modest. Ha. And it's easier to be calm then you'd think... not that I've been in this situation, but something mildly similar. ('course that was after I wrote this...)

Harry grinned. He was so happy to be back.
“Ginny, I missed you.” Ginny felt odd though to say the same. She wanted to tell him about Draco, but she couldn’t, but she would have to in a moment.
“Ginny! I heard about the ball they’re having!” Harry swung her around, “And I’m not going to let the girl I want get away from me this time, I came just in time to take you,” he smiled, like this was a huge present to her. Ginny smiled back weakly.
“Harry, someone… someone’s already asked me.” She said shyly.
“What? No, no one could It’s still April! There’s almost a month until the ball. No one could have asked you yet.”
“But, Harry… someone did. And I, er, said yes,” she said, still embarrassed. Harry looked crushed.
“Well, surely you’ll tell them that you can’t?” he was still hoping for an excuse, but Ginny couldn’t give it to him.
“Harry,” she said kindly. The look he gave her was so pathetic, she wanted to reach out and just touch his shoulder and assure him that everything would be ok, but she couldn’t do that. She bit her lip and he could tell something was wrong.
“Ginny?” he asked, fearful for he wasn’t sure what.
“Harry… I’m dating someone.” She told him softly.
“YOU SAID YOU WOULD WAIT FOR ME!” he yelled, and Ginny nearly cried.
“Harry, I never said that!” she cried, tears did start falling down her cheeks.
“I told you I couldn’t wait forever… and someone else… well, I love him.”
“You said you loved me.” Harry was shaking, tears coming out of his own eyes.
“Harry… I do, just… not in the same way anymore,” she tried to explain.
“You don’t love me.” He told her indignantly.
“But Harry, I do,” she pressed him.
“Not in the same way,” he mocked.
“Harry!”
“No, no. It’s FINE. I pine for you, and you go out an have fun! You know, no need for me-” He was making her feel horribly guilty.
“Harry!”
“-to hold you back!” he was near hysterics.
“Harry,” she said softly, “I’ll go with you.”

Oh god. Why had she said that? What would Draco say? What would Draco do? Would he go after Harry? Would he yell at Ginny? Would… oh, please no, would he stop loving her?
She had to do something special for him. She’d make him something special, do something special for him and she’d tell him the news and he’d blow it off, laughing it off maybe. Or maybe saying she could go with him.
Yeah, right. Like that was going to happen. Not likely. Draco would be mad. He had wanted, funny enough, to be honest with Harry from the beginning. Hearing that Ginny had agreed to go with Harry to the ball… well, he would take it as admitting she still had feelings for him, not pity. He’d make her march back to Harry and tell him they had broken up and that she as free to date whomever she wanted. And what would Harry do when he knew she was dating Draco?
“Draco?” she was meeting him for dinner as usual.
“Gin,” he greeted her with a kiss. It made her smile, but only pained more on what she had to tell him.
“I have a problem,” she stated, he didn’t seem surprised. She often had problems.
“What’s the problem?” he asked, pulling her towards the couch in the room.
“I-I… I can’t go to the ball with you,” she said softly. He didn’t blow up like she’d thought he would.
“Why not?” he asked, as if not involved at all, just truly curious.
“Well… Harry asked me.” She said. Oh god, that sounded… not as it was meant to.
“And you found out that you still love him? More then me?” His voice was calm, but Ginny knew Draco better then that. He was mad.
“No! No… that’s not it at all. It was that… he was so angry, and so hurt… and I felt so bad for him. He wanted me so much. I told him I was dating someone… but he, oh Draco, can one little dance really hurt?” she asked.
“Yes.” he said simply. And Ginny knew she had hurt Draco, and that wasn’t good. She sighed.
“I-I’ll tell Harry I can’t go with him.” Draco smiled and pulled Ginny close to him, kissing her head.
“Thank you,” he said softly, and led her to the couch where they finished dinner. After dinner Ginny headed back to the common room.
“Hey, Gin, where were you during dinner?” Ginny groaned. Harry.

“Of your reaction. And Harry, it doesn’t really matter! What matters is that YOU broke up with ME and that… well, I got a new boyfriend.” Ginny couldn’t find another way to get him to leave her alone.
“You said you loved me.” He was trying to make her feel guilty again.
“And Harry, I did. I still do, just… not in a romantic way. I can love you like… like a brother, and my boyfriend… romantically. I’m sorry. While you were gone… well, I was thinking. And I know it was selfish… but he was here for me and you weren’t.”
“I had to save the world, Ginny!” like a brother?!
“I know. And it’s not your fault. But… I needed someone who was here. And we had broken up! You broke up with me!”
“With the implication that you would wait.”
“I told you I couldn’t do that. You shouldn’t have broken up with me then.” She said brusquely, and Harry was hurt.
“Fine,” he said, “have fun with your boyfriend,” and sulked off towards the boys dormitory. Ginny felt horrible. She stayed in bed, sick, the next day. She felt terrible about what she had done to Harry. He had tried his hardest to kill Voldemort and get out alive as fast as he could so he could return to Ginny and she had betrayed him. She felt like she had betrayed him, even though she knew she hadn’t.
Ginny moaned into her pillow. “Why me?” she asked.
