Chapter Sixteen - Friend or Foe?
Snape smirked as Dumbledore pleaded with him. He pushed Draco Malfoy to the floor and three others flew backwards.

He said nothing; he just gazed at Dumbledore with revulsion and hatred etched in the harsh lines of his face.
Dumbledore began to plead again, “Severus…Please.”

This was unlike Dumbledore, who would normally never beg. Not for his life anyway. After all, to the well organised mind, death is but the next great adventure. Unless he was begging for something else…

Snape then raised his wand, pointed it at Dumbledore.
“Avada Kedavra!”
A jet of green light shot from the end of Snape’s wand and hit Dumbledore squarely in the chest. Harry tried to scream, but knew it would compromise his position and result in death for himself.
Dumbledore hovered in the air for a second underneath the dark mark and the slowly fell backwards, like a great rag doll.

It had been almost a year since the event which ended the life of the greatest wizard of all time had occurred. The murderer had fled, along with the boy who was meant to commit the crime.

For a few weeks, Harry wanted to hunt down the murderer, and kill them as they had done to Dumbledore. When he told the Order the news that Dumbledore had been killed.

Snape had begun as a Death Eater, when he informed the dark lord about the prophecy which led to the deaths of James and Lily Potter, Harry’s parents. After realising what he had done, he swore that he had left the dark side and joined the Order. He acted as a spy, convincing everyone with his superb abilities at occlumency. He finally showed his true colours when he killed Dumbledore and disappeared. Or that’s what Harry thought.

But in front of Harry, Severus Snape stood along with Draco Malfoy. They both looked pale and had untidy hair.

Harry raised his wand, about to kill Snape when Remus shouted, “Wait!”
“Harry, Dumbledore’s death was planned, you can’t blame Severus. Let them help us. They have been undercover risking their lives for us, I think it is time that they were allowed to be normal.”
“But…they killed Dumbledore.” Harry said.
“It was planned, Potter.” Snape said. “Why do you think I didn’t kill you, I saw you. I looked into Albus’ mind and heard what he wanted to happen. He wanted you to live, but he also wanted Draco to live.”
“Do you understand, Harry?” Remus said.
Harry did not even look at them; he just looked down at the ground. How could they plan the death of Dumbledore? He was the closest thing to a father figure he had.
“Potter, Dumbledore saved my life.” Draco Malfoy said before pulling his wand out.

With that, both of the men ran into the distance sending jinxes at the Death Eaters.

Being brought back to earth, Harry ran to Hagrid’s cabin, along with Ron and began to extinguish the fire.
”Aguamenti,” they both shouted.

The fire was nearly out when they heard a noise from the inside of the cabin.
“Fang!”

Harry and Ron ran into the cabin, or that’s what they thought they were doing.

I was right! I knew it was him...just didn't ...err..couldn't say it... I knew it!...but why did Albus want to die? Poor Harry! Where did they go to???*dies* PAMSOID!!

Where did they go. That is the question. No where bad, I hope. But that's probably wrong, they've probably gone to the worst place...ever.
Albus wanted to die to save Draco and keep Snape's cover intact.

I don't have a post ready so I just need to go over a few things and then I should be able to post it by tommorow.

Well i must say its taken me four hours , but ive read it all!
And i tell you what this is impressive work!
I loved every minute of it and now i cannot wait for the next post!
I must say this is one of the best ive read, and i havnt read anything in about 4 months.
My first fic since ive been back and well its made my day.

I have a post, it's not long, but it has a cliffie and I want to use it to my advantage.

Previously on 24
Bellatrix was killed in the hands on Sirius and Neville. Two people who had disappeared had returned, ^{bearing gifts} and saved the day. A fire was seen at Hagrid's cabin so Harry and Ron went to investigate.

*schoooooooooooo*

The following takes place after the last post.


Neville stood looking down on the body of Bellatrix, when Sirius pointed out two people.
“Them,” He snarled, “What are they doing?”

“Sirius, we are clean. We want to help!” Snape said.

“There loads of them, we can’t take them on our own. We need some more man-power. Get in contact with Wormtail, he should be able to send more.”

Two Death Eaters were sat behind a bush, watching their fellow ‘Eaters fall to the ground. They were about to disappear until they saw someone appear.

“Severus!”
“Yes,” Snape said.
“We need help,” the other man said walking out of the bush.
“My pleasure,” Snape said in a cold voice. He turned to face the man and sent a stunner into his mouth. Looking at the other eater, he knew he had to finish the job.
“Petrificus Totalus,” sending the man to the floor.
The man fell to the floor and needed a stunner to send him off. This was supplied by Draco Malfoy.

“Where are we?” Ron said brushing off the dust from himself.
“No idea,” Harry said igniting his wand. “Lumos”.
“We should look for a way out.”
“Look, a door!” Harry said pointed at a door to their right.

They tried to open it, but it was locked. They even tried a few spells to open it, nothing happened.

Harry got a strange feeling and looked down to the floor. As he pointed his wand down, something shone back up. His heart stopped beating for a second as he knew where he was. He looked behind him and saw a cylindrical door shaft.

They were back again.

Anyone know where they are?

I swear if he turns out to be a good guy in canon I'm having a cow ...

I'm obsessively reading Ootp, okay really slowly so I'm wrong but ... can't be Godric's Hollow they've never been there in canon ... and cylindrical implies it goes in circles ... the Ministry? I swear I'll finish Ootp before start of *faints* can't even say it anymore.

Wow, I'm on a roll. I've just written three pages, I'm posting two and I've still got more ideas. Yay! I wonder if I'll be able to finish the fic tonight. *gets adventurous*.
Anyways, I've kept you guys (and gals) waiting long enough, apologies about the delay but I have a post.

He ran to the cylindrical doors and opened it. As he opened it, his heart fell. He was in a shaft illuminated by blue flames. Luckily, Ron stopped the door from closing making the boys able to escape. Just as they got out of the shaft, they heard noises.

They ran left and arrived at a room with a lot of empty tanks. These tanks once held brains, but now were filled with emptiness. A sudden chill went down Harry’s spine as he saw a door leading into a room resembling an amphitheatre. Benches were situated around the room, high and low. They all seemed to be in a position to watch something. In the middle of a room, there was a raised platform, where a single veil fluttered as it was being blown by a wind.

Harry gulped, and could hear Ron take a deep breath.

“Well done children, now meet your death.”

Harry jumped up, pulling his wand out. As he faced the person who said this; a sudden rush of hate began to pump in his veins.
“You!” Harry spat.

“Why don’t you look pleased to see me, Harry,” A worm-like figure trembled.
“I am your only chance to get out of here.”

“Scabbers,” Ron said without thinking. “We should’ve killed you when we had a chance.”

“But you didn’t, did you. Emotions felt within the human body can be misunderstood. Sometimes, you make yourself feel like something because it is the easy way out. Even though you believe that it is wrong. When you had the chance to kill me, why didn’t you? A clever pair of clever boys like you should have known that I would escape and find my master.”

“We kept you alive so you wouldn’t be let off easily; we were going to take you to the dementors.” Ron said.

“Of course you were, unless you really did not have it in you to kill someone. And if that is the case, you have wasted your life coming here.
After all, neither can live whilst the other survives.” He said looking at Harry.

Harry raised his wand, and was about to give Wormtail the death that he deserved when someone appeared in the room.

They wore black robes and a hood, covering most of their face. But between the gap in the hood, Harry could see red snakelike eyes. He knew who this was before the figure took his hood of, and was about to kill the darkest wizard ever when his body froze. He was unable to move and his eye just moved side to side in fear. He tried to look at Ron and noticed that Ron had been hit by the exact same spell. The man lowered his hood and showed his filthy face. It was almost flat, with slits for his eyes and nose. His lips were thin and were pale, matching the rest of his face. He was bald, without any eyebrows either. He truly looked like a beast. And then, he opened his mouth and raised his wand.

“Wormtail, you have been a good servant. You restored me and I thank you, but it appears that your time has come. Goodbye.”

He raised his wand to the chest of Peter Pettigrew, and released a green beam of light.

Wormtail dodged, sickened by what his master was trying to do. He rolled to the side, pulling his own wand out.

“I brought you back to life, you cannot do this. If it wasn’t for me then you would be dead.” Wormtail said, diving behind one of the benches and another beam of green light flew towards it. It set itself alight, and Wormtail’s foot was trapped under it. He kicked, pushing the bench away. He also noticed that the lower section of his robes had caught the flames. Using this to his advantage, he threw the robes at Voldemort. Voldemort fell to the floor and began coughing. He seemed to be beaten.

Nothing is quite how it seems, remember that.

Ahhh! *kicks Pettigrew* What did you do to Harry and Ron! *kicks Voldy*
