The next chapter is as follows...hope you like it!

Several minutes later, I arrived on the field, panting. Everyone was already gathered in the center around Oliver, who was immersing into a long speech. All heads turned when I jogged over. Some shot me glares of annoyance.

“Everyone, this is Grace,” Oliver introduced me. “She’s going to be coming to warm-ups and practices to train as the back-up seeker.”

Mumbling swept through the group. Harry’s scowl was now very visible. Only Oliver, Fred, and George didn’t speak.

“Quiet, people!” Oliver hushed. “Attention over here. Right now we’re going to go through the usual dodging drill. Set it up!”

Taking me aside, Oliver presented me with a broom. It had certainly seen better days, but was still functional. “Sorry that it’s so…battered up,” Oliver said. “I borrowed it from Madame Hooche’s collection of brooms for the first years. I hope it’s decent.” He smiled encouragingly and headed back to the middle of the field.

In no time, I had adapted quite well to being in the air. Although I took a lot longer to catch the snitch than Harry, I was still proud of myself. There was nothing better than the feel of the wind blowing on my face as I sliced through the air.

Oliver soon called everyone down. “Good job, everyone. I think we really have it together now. See you next Thursday.”

The sun was getting low in the sky by the time everyone departed. Unsure of what to do, I gave Oliver the broom back.

“Thanks,” he said, and then paused to fix his eyes on me. “You did really great today.”

“Uh, thanks,” I mumbled, trying to remain humble. I felt like I was glowing.

He opened his mouth again, as if to say something, but then closed it again. We both paused for a moment, averting our eyes from each other.

“Um, I’ve got to go now, so see you soon,” I said with a little smile.

“Yeah, bye,” he replied. He gave me a goofy lop-sided grin and waved.

Puzzled at why Oliver had started to say something and then didn’t, my brow wrinkled. Sometimes I really thought that I thought about too much. This was probably one of the things to overlook.

I sank down under a tree to think for a while. Closing my eyes, I rested my head against the tree. My mind drifted from one thing to another. Twenty minutes passed.

Then suddenly my eyes flew open. I had told Leanne I would come back right away! Here I was, basking in the sun, when I needed to be there for her. Glancing up at the large clock above me, I realized that it was almost dinnertime; I was supposed to meet Leanne half an hour ago.

A sinking feeling formed in my stomach as I rapidly jogged towards the school. I’d never in my whole life let Leanne down before. I was known to act rashly sometimes (well, maybe a lot of times), but I prided myself on always keeping my word.

Racing up the stairs to the girls’ dormitories, I took a deep breath, trying to convince myself to stop worrying. I slowly opened the door to our room, bracing myself for the worst.

The conclusion to the cliffhanger is as follows

However, I walked in on a vacant room. Where was Leanne? My eyes scanned every inch of the area. Not a noise was heard. Puzzled, I ambled down the stairs. Everything was quiet.

Finally, I realized that the lack of commotion was due to the fact that it was time for dinner. All the students were probably down there already, halfway through their meal!

“Oh, great,” I groaned inwardly and rushed out of the common room. I tried to quicken my stride as the door of the Great Hall approached.

I was right. People were bent over their plates eating. Others had already finished and were socializing. Quickly sitting down in an unoccupied seat at the end of the Gryffindor table, I shoveled all the food I could into my mouth without making a fool out of myself; I was starving!

After a couple of minutes, I glanced around me. Many people had left and I was sitting alone amongst empty chairs. Taking a last sip of water, I meandered towards Leanne, who I could see was hanging out with Parvati and Lavender.

I tapped Leanne on the shoulder, not caring if I was interrupting or not. Their laughter instantly stopped. When my best friend finally turned around, I could tell right away that she was slightly mad at me. Her face appeared more downcast than usual. “What?” she mumbled, clearly trying to sound normal.

“Can I talk to you for a minute?” I asked quietly, silently hoping that she wouldn’t tell me off in front of everyone in the Great Hall.

“Why don’t we chat later?” Leanne replied. “I’m busy at the moment,” she added with a faintly superior glance at me.

I winced. A pang of pain hit my heart. Those were the words I had uttered right before I’d whisked off to Quidditch. Clenching my teeth, I nodded and hurried out of the Great Hall.

I sprinted tirelessly all the way to the Gryffindor common room. Restraining the tears, my feet carried me through the students staring at me and up the stairs until I was safely in my room.

It's really good stuff. Congrats! But what year is this, may I ask? Is this the year after Cedric had died or what? Coz if it is then Oliver wouldn't be in Hogwarts anymore... coz he'll be playing in Puddlemere United.

Thank you! To make it clearer, this is year 3. (So, Prisoner of Azkaban time). I hinted that it was in my first chapter (see below):

Finally, more of my story!!!

Once I’d closed the door behind me, I flung myself onto my bed and let the tears run out. They didn’t stop; they just kept soaking into my scarlet colored pillows. My chest heaved up and down.

Inside, I wondered why I was making such a big deal out of this. Mixed feelings filled my heart. I was partly angry with Leanne for being unnecessarily cruel, yet I was so distressed that I’d done the same thing to her. Also, I was so disappointed in myself for letting my best friend down. The need to apologize tugged at me, but my pride restrained the action. Instantly, my mind flashed back to the same feeling I’d experienced during the summer.

”I’m home!” Mom called from downstairs. “Grace, I have something specially for you!”

I bounded down the stairs eagerly, wondering what the surprise was. Mom rarely bought me anything unless the “price was right”. And even those gifts were Muggle items, since I was half Muggle.

When I reached the kitchen, Mom was packing away the groceries into the fridge. She stopped as she saw me coming and rushed to pull out a pair of pants out of a bag. These pants were dark blue with hot pink seams. They also sported a baggy look to them. I realized that they were the pants that I’d been begging for a long time ago. Now, however, they were totally out of the fashion trends.

“Aren’t they great?” Mom proclaimed enthusiastically. She held them up to me. “I know that they were the ones that you’ve been asking for. They’ll look great on you.”

I gave her the give-me-a-break look of disgust. “Uh, Mom, just to let you know, those pants aren’t cool anymore. There’s no way you’re going to make me wear those,” I retorted. As soon as the words flew out of my mouth, I immediately regretted them.

‘Oh,” Mom sighed sadly. “Well, then I guess I’ll return them tomorrow on the way back from work.”

As I marched back up the stairs, sulking, all I could do was glare at everyone and everything that crossed my path. I had the same emotions that day. My mind couldn’t forget the sad expression of my mom’s face, but I was steaming mad that she’d even thought to get me that…trash.

The sobs wracked my body as I recalled the incident. At last, I dried my tears and performed a charm to restore my red face and puffy eyes to normal.

That is great writing as usual Uni!!! I still wanna know what Leanne had to say before she went down to the Qudditch pitch. I making up theories in my head right now as is to what happens next so please post soon. Oh I've forgotton to say this but its so good to see a FF that has Oliver as the golden boy.

A short post:

Taking a deep, shaky breath, I told myself to calm down. Laying down, facing the ceiling, I planned out my apology.

The creaking of a door opening interrupted my thoughts. Leanne silently strolled in, clearly acting as if I weren’t there. Turning on my side, I viewed her as she slowly sank onto her bed with her back facing me. She didn’t make a sound.

Apologize, a small voice in my head commanded. I shook my head. Apologize to her! Squeezing my eyes shut, I muttered, “I’m sorry,” through grinding teeth. I was right. I had too much pride within myself.

“That’s okay, I guess,” Leanne told me rather sullenly. Clearing her throat, she added, “I shouldn’t have told you off like that.”

Re-opening my eyes, I whispered, “I deserved it. I’m such an idiot.” Tears threatened to spill over my eyes, but I controlled myself.

My friend turned around to face me. “Forget about it, okay? We’ll just move on.” She forced a smile, which I returned in relief.

That night, I slept relatively well. I’d gained my friend back—for the time being, anyway.

The next update will be this weekend!

Next chapter:

The end of October crept around the corner. Our first Hogsmeade trip was scheduled for Halloween. As all the recent years, Hogsmeade had been a good place to take some time off.

Leanne and I nearly skipped to Hogsmeade. I wore simple jeans and a light blue shirt. The breeze was blowing softly with the slight hint of winter soon to come.

Shops galore lined the streets. There was Zonko’s Joke Shop, The Three Broomsticks, Honeyduke’s and so many more. The sweet scent of delicious candy floated from the open door of Honeyduke’s. I could almost taste the tang of toffee on the tip of my tongue.

Leanne pulled my arm gently, “Come, I need to show you a really cool shop down the road.” I followed her quick gait. Students of all houses mingled everywhere—Gryffindors, Hufflepuffs, Ravenclaws, and Slytherins.

We were too unaware of the people around us that I bumped into someone. Instantly, I realized that the face looking down on me was Oliver.

“Fancy meeting you here,” Oliver remarked jokingly. In his hand he held a bag of sweets. A few other Gryffindor boys stood behind him, talking to each other.

“Yeah.” I smiled and glanced over at Leanne. She had let go of my arm and was staring in the other direction, oddly towards the Slytherin group that had gathered in a group a ways from us.

Turing to his friends, Oliver asked, “You wouldn’t mind if I hang out with Grace for today, will you?” Gazing at me, her added, “If you wanted to, that is.” I nodded eagerly before I could stop myself.

His friends nodded their consent and walked away after saying quick farewells.

“So? Where do you want to go?” He asked me. His nut-brown hair was waving in the breeze and framed his superbly carved face.

“Uh…” That was all I could say. I side-glanced at Leanne, who was watching with a dull expression on her face.

“No, you two go ahead.” Leanne’s voice dropped a few octaves. She bade us a cheerless goodbye and headed towards the Slytherin group.

I paused to watch her for a moment in curiosity. She simply sauntered over and they opened up their circle. Part of that circle was Pansy Parkinson, Blaise Zabini, Crabbe, Goyle, and Draco Malfoy…DRACO MALFOY? My brain seemed to pause for a moment. Malfoy didn’t associate with Gryffindors, even if they were purebloods like Leanne.

Oliver cleared his throat and tapped my shoulder gently. “Intrigued with the Slytherins?” He raised his eyebrow inquisitively.

I shook my head. “No,” I whispered. “It’s just that Leanne has never mixed with the Slytherin crowd. She doesn’t do things like that.” Does she?
