I watched remorsefully as Leanne skipped towards her Slytherin “friends” at Hogsmeade. She still hadn’t told me if she had forgiven me.

Oliver gently pulled my hand. ‘Don’t fret over it, Grace. She’ll come around, by this afternoon I’m guessing.” I let him lead me away in the opposite direction.

The hot summer sun baked down on us as we walked. My hand was sweating in Oliver’s from the heat. We ended up walking to the same serene area where we’d first kissed. The boulders were still in their rightful positions. Now the lake was not frozen; the water was clear and blue.

Oliver suddenly whooped and hurled towards the lake. He splashed into the water, spraying me with droplets. Laughing, he scooped up some water. Soon I was drenched. I joined him in the lake and soon he was also soaked.

“We always throw things at each other in this place,” I pointed out. “Last time it was snowballs.”

He snickered and gave me a dousing of water. “Yeah.” His brown hair was all wet and had water droplets dripping off the ends. I’m sure that water was trickling from mine as well.

Loud, bickering noises interrupted our battle. Looking around curiously, I noticed Leanne and Blaise standing in a clearing. They both appeared distressed.

“I’m ending this right now,” Leanne informed him boldly. I’d never seen her so determined before. Maybe that’s why she was put into Gryffindor.

I couldn’t hear what Blaise was saying, and I don’t know if I wanted to. Soon, he stalked off without a backwards glance. Leanne stood there, stunned at what she had done.

“Hey, Leanne!” I shouted from the lake. “Come join us!” Beckoning her with my hand, I waited for her to approach.

A suffering glance told me that it wasn’t the time for careless play. I watched as my best friend shook her head and sprinted towards the school. This broke my heart. Now the only thing that could comfort her was the confinement of four walls. Now not even I could be her fortress to whom she could spill all her troubles.

“Go Gryffindor, go!” I shouted along with the cheering students. A thunderous roar erupted from the crowds. Harry had almost snatched the snitch! His exhilaration for the final match was clearly evident. Malfoy was also determined to claim the cup.

As usual, Hermione and Ron joined me in the stands. Hermione was jumping up and down frantically, rooting for Harry. As she bounded up and down, she was oblivious to the fact that something fell onto the ground with a metallic clink.

Bending down, I picked it up. Before I handed it to her, I took a look. It was a necklace. The craftsmanship was perfect. A single pendant hung from the chain; it looked like a golden hourglass. I could feel the magic tingle through my fingers; it was strange, yet it seemed very powerful. Breaking my focus from the necklace, I gave it to Hermione, who looked at me oddly, thanked me, and quickly slipped it away.

Turning my attention back to the field, I could see that Gryffindor was still leading by sixty points. Another cheer was heard; Harry had spotted the golden snitch! Malfoy was ahead of him, but soon Harry caught up. I could see him trying to reach for the snitch, missing by a few inches.

NO! I just came back to this and now it is ending? I LOVE THIS!

Me neither, but it must end sometime.

Not quite yet! Here is the second last post.

“Come on, Harry!” Ron shouted, his red hair flaming along with his face.

“You can do it!” I yelled above the deafening noise.

It happened as if it was played in slow motion. Harry had managed to flatten himself against his broom. With a whoosh, he nabbed the snitch and zoomed up in the air!

“YES!!!” Hermione, Ron, and I screamed along with the crowd.

We had won the Quidditch Cup after seven long years! I looked around at everyone’s glowing faces, but none of them was half as bright as Harry’s. Following Hermione and Ron down the stairs and onto the field, I ran into Oliver’s arms. He was crying with joy as he spun me around.

“We won! We won!” He cried. The tremendous merriment of the audience was boisterous but the most pleasant sound I had ever heard. Everyone, even Percy Weasley, was jumping up and down.

I gazed joyfully as Harry hoisted up the Quidditch Cup on top of all the teams’ shoulders. His eyes shone and were full of happiness. A few yards away, Professor McGonagall was sobbing into a huge Gryffindor flag; I’d never seen her in such a blissful state before.

The victory celebration was spectacular! There was an overflowing amount of food to go around. Everyone’s beaming faces were more radiant than before. And when I said everyone, I meant everyone.

Harry came up to me during the party, a mug of butterbeer in his hand. “Grace,” he began, running a hand through his hair, taking a deep breath. “I’m so sorry about what I did to you; you didn’t deserve it. I was just being overly jealous…you know how guys can be.” He smirked.

Grinning, I said, “I forgive you. And I’m sorry for butting into the team.”

He laughed. “No, it wasn’t your fault. It was that Oliver…” he said it in a tone in which I knew he was kidding. Eyes twinkling, he continued. “Which reminds me! I should have a chat with the captain…” With a wave, he headed through the crowd.

It would only get better after that.

That afternoon, Leanne walked up to me with a smile on her face.

“Grace, I’ve decided to forgive you,” she stated matter-of-factly, then wrapped her arms around me in a bear hug nearly as tight as Oliver’s.

“I missed you so much!” I exclaimed happily. “I didn’t know if you’d ever be my friend again.”

“Well, Grace, you were right, as usual. The Slytherins weren’t real friends. They didn’t care at all when I told them that I wasn’t going to hang around them. Inside, I knew that they were sad because now they have to do all their homework by themselves.” Leanne laughed merrily, her eyes restored to their green livelihood.

“Didn’t you sense that they were phony from the start?” I questioned. Leanne was one of those people who could sense things about who they met.

“Yes, but I was desperate for attention,” she admitted sheepishly.

My heart received a pang. Leanne had mentioned before about having to do things for Blaise to earn his interest. If I had been there for her, I could have prevented all of the hurtful things she experienced. “I’m sorry about everything,” I whispered, my eyes downcast.

“I’m sorry too. I was a git for the whole year.” Tears sprang into Leanne’s eyes and she embraced me once more. Her trait of forgiveness had not been lost after all.

Aw everyones friends again. Leanne would've been better as a Slytherin though PAMS!!

It took me a little over an hour to read this whol entire thread, including comments left by other readers.

I must say, I AM HOOKED! I was in the middle of working on a FanFic of my own (coincidently involving Oliver Wood, as well, because I was angry at the lack of Oliver fics), and I decdided to take a break and read a few fics. I'm so happy I stumbled onto yours! I nearly forgot to go back and keep working on mine!

And, as I've been sitting here reading, I've been wondering what the heck "PAMS" meant. And then it hit me: Please Add More Soon. =D

I'm busy waiting for my FanFic to go through. I think a mod is still, well, modding it, I suppose. It's called "Through the Eyes of a Wallflower" and it involves Oliver as well, because I, well, love him to oodle bidoodles. =D

June 16, eh? Two days after I graduate from eighth grade! A bittersweep graduation gift, I suppose!
