Here's the next chapter...sorry for the delay! Leanne had been pressed up against the wall. Blaise (from Slytherin) had his mouth over hers and was fondling her body. My stomach felt sick. I stumbled towards the school, trying to rid my mind of the scene that I’d just witnessed. I can’t believe her! I thought. How could she let someone take advantage of her like that? Not wanting to think, I continued slowly on my way. I was sopping wet. My hair hung around me in soaked locks. I was chilled to the bone. A moment later, I heard quick footsteps behind me. “Grace! Wait up!” Oliver ran towards me. His hair was wet from a shower and he held a scarlet umbrella, which shielded him from the torrent of rain. Smiling slightly, I stopped and waited for him to catch up. “Hey.” “Aren’t you cold?” He exclaimed. His big, brown eyes stared into mine with concern. “Yeah, but my umbrella got blown away,” I explained. A shiver ran through my whole body. “Here, have my sweater,” Oliver offered. He quickly took it off, revealing only a thin shirt under. “No, I couldn’t,” I protested. “Yes,” he insisted. “You’re going to freeze!” “Well, you’re going to freeze if you give it to me,” I argued playfully, a grin pulling the sides of my mouth out. “It’s better me freezing than you freezing,” he pointed out, a look of determination in his eyes. “I don’t want you to get a cold.” My eyes rested on the warm, fuzzy sweater that lay in his outstretched hand. It did look very comfortable. “Oh, all right,” I grumbled with a smile. I quickly pulled it over my wet head. It looked very baggy on me, but at least it’d keep me relatively warm. “Come under the umbrella,” Oliver told me, holding out the umbrella. I ducked under, where we were somewhat sheltered. As we resumed our brisk walk towards Hogwarts, I noticed Oliver quivering slightly. “You’re cold,” I said matter-of-factly. Reaching over, I rubbed his arm with the sleeve of my sweater, keeping my body close to his. “Thanks,” he mumbled in my ear, that unmistakable grin on his face. “Do you want to come with me to the next Hogsmeade trip?” He asked unexpectedly as we neared the door of the school. “I’d love to.” My stomach was filled with fluttering butterflies again. As we turned into the school, I looked back into the rain. It was still pouring as hard as ever, but as it always did, the sun would soon break through and a beautiful rainbow would form. I wondered if that would happen in my life, and if so, I hoped that it would happen soon. |

So it is tomorrow!! |
Yes, it is tomorrow. Or,today. lol. Here's a longer post: The last week of the term arrived quickly, much to my pleasure. The rainy days had turned into snowy days, signaling Christmas. A blanket of white had covered all of Hogwarts. Trees tipped with frost stood tall and still against the dark sky. Snowflakes of all shapes and sizes floated down from their heavenly home, landing softly on our noses and hair. Oliver and I meandered out of Hogwarts and past Filch towards Hogsmeade. We started off heavily bundled up in coats, mittens, and scarves. Strangely, the day was not too cold; the sun was breaking through the clouds, bathing us in warmth. Soon the mittens and scarves were discarded. “It’s such a nice day,” Oliver remarked, breathing in the crisp air deeply. He stuck his hands in his pockets. “Definitely,” I agreed, in good spirits. The crunching of snow beneath our feet made an enjoyable noise. No snow was falling from the sky. “Where should we go?” Shrugging, Oliver took a quick look around us. “What about Honeyduke’s?” He licked his lips eagerly. “Sure, why not.” I felt the coins in my pocket, which faintly clinked whenever I stepped. My sweet tooth was kicking in; this year I hadn’t been to the candy shop yet. As we stepped into the shop, heat surrounded us. The smell of all sorts of candy floated around. The shelves were absolutely laden with lollipops, Bertie Bott’s Every Flavor Beans, and chocolate frogs. My eyes swept through every ledge. Picking the candy wasn’t easy; there was so much to choose from. When I’d finally purchased a bag of sweets, Oliver was already waiting by the door with his own bulging bag in hand. “I bought some candy for my siblings too,” he explained to me as he held open the door to let me go first. The bell above the door jingled merrily as we exited. Oliver eyed my hand, then hesitated, as if debating whether to grab it or not. At last he decided to, which gave my hand wonderful warmth. His fingers caressed mine while we strolled down the lane. A slight wind started to pick up, so we ducked into the same café that we visited last time. As usual, we ordered two butterbeers. Oliver opened up his candy bag slowly, then handed me a large heart lollipop. “For you.” He blushed and gave me his goofy grin. My eyes lit up. “Aw, thanks, Oliver!” Happily taking the lollipop, I took off the wrapper and licked it. It tasted so delicious! “Here, have a lick.” I offered the tip to Oliver, who gave it a big, slow lick. “Mmm…” was all he could say. He closed his eyes to savor the taste remaining on his tongue. I seized the chance to stare at those beautiful, long lashes. Oliver soon opened his eyes, as if sensing that I was staring. Reddening a little, all I could do was smile and give the lollipop another lick. “Here’s your order,” a waitress said, gently setting the butterbeers on the wood table. Taking the coins from Oliver, she ambled away to another table. The butterbeer felt smooth on my throat the whole way down. “How are you and Leanne doing?” Oliver inquired, taking another swig of butterbeer. I frowned. “Not very good,” I admitted. “She’s been ignoring me for the longest time. I don’t know if we’ll ever get our friendship back, especially with those Slytherins brainwashing her.” Tears sprang into my eyes, and I looked away. Oliver was silent for a minute. He just stared into his mug. “That’s not fun to lose a friendship. Every so often it just takes time, though. You want her friendship, right?” “Of course I do,” I replied in an instant. “I don’t know how, though. But if she’s happy with the Slytherins, I guess I’ll be happy for her.” I knew that I wouldn’t, though. My heart ached for our old friendship. Oliver reached over and ran his fingers over the back of my hand, which was lying on the tabletop. “People change, Grace. Sometimes you have to let it go.” His voice grew quieter. A few tears rolled down my cheeks. “But I don’t want to let go,” I whispered, choking down more tears. My breath became shaky. “Do you want to go for a walk?” Oliver asked, his hand laying on mine. His brown eyes were sympathetic, which comforted me. |
