Today was... well... SOO boring!
Stayed home sick and found out cause of my cold I get this stuff in my lungs so that's why I can barely breathe in the mornings...
So I slept til noon. Weird dreams when one's sick...

And the power went out for 5 HOURS AT LEAST! It JUST came back on...
I soo woulda posted earlier but I couldn't. A few blocks away there was power in certain sections...
But I post Yule Ball now! Finally!

REALLY long for one part... but I can't cut the ending into the 3rd section... it was supposed to end the first section but I had to move it to the Yule ball. Much more interesting that way

P.S: I never noticed until I started part 3 that I didn't describe Hermione's dress! Only Ginny's (and personally I like Hermione's better, but that's mainly cause it's an actual [Vera Wang] dress but either way Hermione's beats out any other dress!). So... Hermione's dress is in part 3 tho... one reason there's a part 3. Main reason really...

Chapter 31 (Part 2)
The Yule Ball

“So... you’re going with... Malfoy... Triwizard Champion... probably most hated champion at the moment?” Ginny asked slowly, unsure how to make of the news.

“And you’re going with whom exactly?” Hermione asked, ignoring the repeated question.

“That’ll be a surprise,” Ginny responded mysteriously as she put her earrings on. It was now officially Christmas Eve; time closing in for the Yule Ball to start.

“Wha... come on, Gin! I told you who I’m going with!” Hermione exclaimed in slight annoyance.

“Actually, I had a feeling who you’d go with so it doesn’t really matter, I just needed it clarified,” Ginny said simply, shrugging as she patted down an invisible wrinkle in her dress. The dress corresponded with her hair, which was almost impossible to please when it came to shopping for clothes. Ginny found an off-the-shoulder black dress that clung to her curves, but when it got to her waist it gently flared away from her body until it stopped at her knees. On the sleeves was black lace, which Hermione thought looked a lot like what a muggle punk girl would wear if forced into a dress. She thought it suited Ginny very much though, both with her hair and attitude that matched the style.

“Are you going with Dean?” Hermione asked as she finished getting her hair as straight as she could.

“Maybe,” Ginny responded with a smile.

“Uh... some other guy that’s actually in your year?”

“Maybe. You’ll see who when we get there.”

Hermione grumbled as she waited for Ginny. At last, her friend was finally ready, and they left the dormitory together.

“Someone out of Gryffindor House?” Hermione pestered.

“No...”

“So its someone in Gryffindor?”

“Maybe.”

“You just said no to my previous question!” Hermione exclaimed.

“Maybe I was lying...” Ginny pointed out mysteriously.

“It’s not that hard to slip a name! Initials even! I dunno...”

“Hermione!” Ginny cut in. They stopped dead in the hallway, and Ginny turned to face her friend. She gripped Hermione’s exposed shoulders and lightly shook her. “You will find out at the ball,” she said clearly as she continually shook Hermione, trying to get it into her head.

“But...”

“Ah!” Ginny started to walk away.

“Gin...”

“Ah!” Ginny cut in again.

“Come...”

“’Ey!”

The ‘conversation’ continued all the way from the Tower to the staircase leading to the Great Hall, which was all decorated and ready for the Yule Ball.

“Is you date down there?” Hermione asked finally. Ginny peered around the corner.

“Nope,” she responded, smiling.

“Maybe you lied...”

“Maybe, you never know, do you?” Ginny cut in once more, grinning slyly. “Now hurry up, the Champions have to enter soon enough, and Malfoy’s waiting for you.”

“Why don’t you go down there first...?”

“Nope.”

“Why not?”

“Why should I? My date actually isn’t down there,” Ginny responded, shrugging.

Hermione just shook her head and turned the corner. Carefully walking down the stairs, the fear of tripping and falling down the flight kept her balanced and poised on her 3 inch heels. (She called them her ‘heels from hell’ though, since that’s what they felt like ) It felt exactly like 4th year; everyone’s eyes were on her. Among the swarms of eyes she recognized a pair of dancing pale grey eyes at the bottom of the staircase. Hermione saw Draco’s sly smile (she classified it as a faint smirk), and couldn’t help but smile back. She wobbled momentarily as she landed on the last step. Draco held out a hand and she took it to balance as she took the last step onto the floor.

“If you can barely walk in those, how’ll you dance?” Draco asked.

Hermione wasn’t sure if he was asking an honest question or just being cheeky; all she knew was that the comment just ruined the moment.

“I can walk fine,” Hermione responded firmly. “It’s just those stairs are murder...”

“Either way you’re still beautiful.”

Hermione smiled. Just as she was about to respond, Professor McGonagall walked up to them. She looked slightly startled.

“Are you and... Ms. Granger ready?” she asked Draco.

“For what?” he asked with a blank expression. Hermione giggled (which she didn’t recall ever doing before).

“To dance, silly,” she said.

Draco resisted the urge to shiver. For that one moment Hermione sounded exactly as Pansy would when talking to him (most of the time that is). He regained his composure after a moment.

“Yeah...” he responded.

“Well join the other two champions by the door, we are to start in a few minutes,” Professor McGonagall responded. She left them and entered the Great Hall.

Hermione looked around and noticed that no one other than the champions were in the Hall. Ginny passed by fairly quickly; she didn’t even see her friend pass through or hear her come down the stairs.

After a moment’s scan of her surroundings, Hermione followed Draco to the back of the champion line (she had to admit she would never picture Draco at the back of a line). The double doors opened suddenly, and the first couple started walking to the Great Hall. After leaving a short space, Hermione and Draco followed. The crowd along either side of the walkway cheered as the three couples made their way to the dance floor.

The music started, and the Yule Ball had officially begun. After the first few minutes, everyone started to crowd on the dance floor, doing the traditional first dance of the Ball.

Hermione found time passed by too quickly. It seemed the Ball was over within a few moments. She didn’t even have as much fun at the Yule Ball of this year than her 4th year with Krum. As the numbers dwindled down to half of (all the schools’) students, both Draco and Hermione decided to leave once the slow dances started, leaving together. As soon as they got to the main entrance, Hermione leaned on Draco’s shoulder and pulled off once of her heels. Standing on her throbbing foot (which felt odd, she felt much shorter, and wasn’t as used to the balance), she took off the other and placed them on the ground.

“You should straighten your hair more,” Draco commented as he toyed and ran his fingers through Hermione’s hair with his spare hand.

“Too much work,” Hermione responded, sighing. “Two hours and it’s still not even completely straight; so keep dreaming.” Draco chuckled.

“I don’t need to,” he responded lightly. Hermione looked into his eyes. Draco pulled her closer and met her lips with his.

“Hermione?!” a voice exclaimed in shock. She pulled away from Draco and turned around. She looked into emerald green eyes that were full of shock. Behind the shock and anger was flickering hurt.

“Harry?” she whispered; her voice escaped her.

His eyes flickered from her to Draco. His expression immediately changed to loathe.

“Taking a break from home, Potter?” Draco said with a sarcastic, mocking edge.

“So this is what made you come back this year, Malfoy?” Harry retorted coldly. Hermione glared.

“What makes you come to that conclusion, Potty?”

“After everything you caused last year, there’s no other legitimate reason. That is, unless you’ve become Voldemort’s new spy.”

Draco’s expression flared, but before he could respond, Ginny came running out of the Great Hall (which was rather difficult considering she had the same ‘heels from hell’ as Hermione does). Nearly tripping, she went up to Harry. She opened her mouth to say something, but turned to her.

“How long have you known?” he demanded. Ginny’s mouth dropped.

A crowd started to form near to the four.

“Excuse me?”

“I don’t see you commenting on this, so how long have you known?” he repeated. Ginny opened her mouth to respond, but nothing came out; she forgot how long.

“So long you’ve forgotten?” Harry said coldly.

“Don’t blame Ginny, Harry!” Hermione cut in. “It’s not her fault, she was always just in the wrong place at the wrong time.”

Ginny nodded in agreement quickly. Harry looked at Hermione out of the corner of his eye. “Why should I trust you anymore, Mione?” he asked.
That broke Hermione’s heart.

Harry turned back at Ginny and then said, “I can’t believe you...” and stormed off, leaving the two girls near tears. Ginny took her shoes off and ran up the stairs and as far away from the Great Hall she could, hiding the fact her tears had escaped her eyes. Hermione sniffled and grabbed her shoes from the floor.

“Oh, be off all of you!” Draco yelled at the clutter in front of the doors.

They scattered off, leaving the main entrance empty and the Great Hall nearly empty.

“I’ll see you tomorrow I s’pose,” Hermione mumbled, trying to keep herself calm.

“Are you going to be ok?” he asked with a worried voice.

Hermione nodded and started to walk away and up the stairs. She heard Draco mutter, “Pot-Head needs a little help sorting out his priorities...” She spun around on the stair and saw him about to walk in the direction Harry stormed off to.

“Don’t, Draco!” she said automatically, tears now streaming down her face. “It’s... its fine... don’t bother yourself with it... please.”

She saw his jaw clench in indecisiveness for a few moments. Then very quietly, but clearly, she heard him mutter, “Fine,” and walk away, back to the dungeons to his common room.

hm, I was gonna post part 3 (which is only 3 paragraphs... really short really...), but I guess not since no one postie other than me

Hermione ran as fast as her dress and feet would let her. She stumbled occasionally; tripping on her dress. She had gone out to get her dress in Diagon Alley; she felt her previous one had done its due at the previous Yule Ball (even if she didn’t know there would be another in the year), and she had grown since then.
Her new dress was a periwinkle colour, more blue than purple she found. It had a bias-cut dress with gathered tank straps. The dress had a low V Neckline and a tonal chiffon that wraps around the Empire waist and tied into a bow at her back.
She quickly gave the Fat Lady the password and stumbled into the common room. She found it empty. She hitched up the bottom of her dress (finally realizing it’d be easier) and ran up the stairs leading to the girls’ dormitories. Hermione ran into Ginny’s dorm, where she still had her things, and entered. She saw a long lump under one of the thick blankets of the bed.
Dropping her shoes on the floor next to the spare bed, Hermione quickly changed into her P.Js. She brushed out her hair, loosening the spell she used on her hair slightly, and removed the make-up Ginny helped her put on. Hermione then climbed into bed silently, buried her face into her pillow and lightly wept herself to sleep.

I haven't even written the beginning of chapter 32 so it'll take awhile for another post. I've been kinda busy with school being all... stupid and bleh! School back pretty much. Gone one day (legitimately sick, yet I've been sick for lie, 3 weeks. That was just a bad day... but I went to school on the firsst day back sick )
And Ron doesn't come in... yet... like I said. But I have my plans with him... oh I do

need any terms explained? I wrote them up b4 the part so all the stuff about 'bias cut' and 'empire waist' and ''tonal chiffon'... I don't wanna post about stuff I don't know! And I'll save your time if you're really curious, cause i have it saved and everything (it's a REAL dress, I used their description but tweaked it slightly). I looked up terms so I'd know... took forever BTW, so if you wanna know, just ask, I have the answers!

Ok, I'm so sorry for the hold-up for such a short update, but I'm going to have a second half for this chapter (you see why). I just got the idea randomly awhile back (trust me, base ideas.... -shiver- hard to work with cause you know what you want but you can't get it into a more detailed idea and get it into words)
There's one part I just gotta say I love! Not saying what but I'm just saying there's one specific part I love

Chapter 32
New Years (Part 1)

Days passed by since the Yule Ball, and boredom etched into Hermione’s days as they dragged on. She finished reading all of her textbooks for the second time in two days, and the only person she could really talk to as a friend in Gryffindor was Ginny; and yet it took her a few days to get over her anger at Hermione for what happened after the Ball (yet she still has the feeling of resentment of her friend). She still doesn’t know if she and Harry are broken up or just in a fight; either way she didn’t get anything from him for Christmas on the 25th, not even a letter.

On the early evening of the 30th of December, notices were put up in the common rooms about a New Years party for 6th and 7th years being held in the Great Hall the next night.

“One day’s notice and only a week after the Yule Ball...” Hermione mumbled.

“At least you have someone to go with,” Ginny snapped.

“For goodness sake Gin, send a letter to Harry, you never know...”

Ginny’s hard stare stopped Hermione.

“Don’t you think I’ve tried that?” she pointed out.

“He might be busy...”

“Busy ignoring me!” Ginny cut in. “Just face it, because of Malfoy...”
“It’s not my fault you didn’t say anything to Harry before,” Hermione pointed out calmly. The same response was beginning to tire her; it’s been 5 days and she’s said the same thing over and over..."

“You always say that! Get a new answer, you old one is rather wearisome!” Ginny then stormed off.

Hermione decided to let her go and steam off. She then figured, to beat the boredom, to wander the castle before dinner. As soon as she stepped out of the common room, she didn’t feel like wandering, so she headed to the library. She pulled a couple of books off the shelf and sat down at a table, starting to read. She got halfway through before the dinner bell rang through the desolate room. She left the book on the table and left the library to head to the Great Hall.

She quickly ate her dinner, the ever-disdainful eyes of her Gryffindor peers boring into her the entire time, and went back to the library. Reading the book she had started a short while ago, she heard the noise of feet landing upon the carpeted room, but she just tuned it out. A few minutes later, she heard someone sit in a chair, but what bothered her was the person put their feet onto the table and let off the loudest possible yawn ever. She dropped her book and looked up to tell them off, but the only word that came from her mouth was, “Draco?”

Silver eyes burned back at her with a hidden smile behind them. His features were highlighted by the tradition Malfoy smirk he wore frequently. His arms were crossed across his chest as he leaned back in the wooden library chair. With his feet on the table, he crossed them over, appearing to be fairly relaxed with a haughty air surrounding him.

“Are you going to the New Years Eve party tomorrow night?” he asked.
Hermione shrugged in response. “I might... it depends on if I’m up for yet another party of sorts...” The expression of hopefulness and a slightly cocky edge made her stop.

“”You’re turning down the Hogwarts Triwizard champion?”

“The most hated one among most of Hogwarts apparently,” Hermione pointed out.

“Most, not all,” Draco responded with the same edge.

Hermione sighed. “You’re not going to get me to go because you’re pointing out the obvious. If it wasn’t for me you wouldn’t be a champion anymore.”

“And one of the ways I can thank you for that is if you come to the party with me,” he cut her off.

Hermione debated to herself for a few moments. “Fine, I’ll go, but don’t expect me to be all dressed up.”

“It’s not a fancy party, is it?” he pointed out with a smirk.
