Ok, new post! Sorry, it's been a while. im kinda working on my own project so thats taken time, and its my birthday on Sunday! so ive been imersed in birthday preperations lol.

so heres the next post. However, i have two great plots that i cant wait to write, so comment lotsies, and then i can post them!!

The Note

Christmas was fast approaching, and a thin layer of snow had began to fall from the heavy pearly clouds that had enveloped the castle.

The end of term feast was just starting. The whole school was gathered in the Great Hall, talking excitedly in anticipation of the holidays. Harry’s excitement had increased by the fact that he would be spending Christmas with the Weasley’s and Hermione at The Burrow.

“Should be a good one this year,” said Ron, “Bill and Charlie are coming over too. Get a move on, I’m starving.” He added, rubbing his stomach.

But Harry wasn’t really listening. He had spotted something quite peculiar up at the Top Table.

“Where’s Snape?” He asked Ron and Hermione, interrupting Ron’s commentary of the food he was about to eat when it arrived.

Ron and Hermione looked up at the Top Table, their eyes roving over the many seats, looking for any sign of the greasy haired teacher.

“He’s probably just late,” said Hermione, dismissing Harry’s concern. A rather evil grin, however, had come over Ron’s face. “Maybe he’s fallen in a cauldron full of Shrinking Solution! Or better still, a Draught of Living Death.”

“Ron!” gasped Hermione. She started to protest, but at that point Dumbledore stood up. The hall fell silent.

“Welcome!” Said Dumbledore, beaming at them all. “Welcome to the end of term feast. I assure you, I think you will find that the elves have surpassed themselves this time.” (“Humph!” Said Hermione.) “But before we begin, I have some rather sad news to tell you all. It pains me to inform you that Professor Snape has resigned – “

He was cut short by a series of objections and boos from the Slytherin table, and cheers and whoops from the Gryffindor table. Harry, Ron and Hermione looked at each other in shock. Dumbledore put up a hand, and the Hall was silent once more.

“Potions lessons,” he resumed, “will be put on hold until we can find a suitable substitute. Now, everyone enjoy the feast, have a wonderful Christmas, and I hope you get all the presents you could possibly desire. I myself have asked for a pair of medi-socks - they work wonders on the bunions –“

McGonagall cleared her throat loudly behind him, her eyebrows raised whilst snorts of laughter scattered across the hall.

Dumbledore smiled and composed himself. “Enjoy!” He said again, and he sat down. When Harry looked back at his plate, the food had appeared.

“Excellent!” said Ron, tucking in.

“Ron!” protested Hermione “didn’t you just here Dumbledore?”

“Yeah,” said Ron, “He said “enjoy.” That’s what I’m doing.”

“What about Snape!”

Ron grinned through a mouthful of sprouts, “Yeah, slimy old git. Good riddance, I say”

Hermione sighed and turned to Harry.

“Why would Snape leave?” she said.

“I dunno,” replied Harry, “but we can think about that later. Let’s just enjoy the time we have without him.” And he helped himself to a large plate of sausages.

An hour later, stomachs full to bursting and sleepiness starting to roll over them, Harry Ron and Hermione got up and joined the throng of students crowding to leave the Great Hall. Harry was just getting free when someone bumped into him hard, nearly knocking him sideways. He couldn’t see who it was but he straitened himself up and followed the Gryffindor’s up the marble staircase.

Once in the common room, Ron and Harry said Goodnight to Hermione and went up to the boys’ dormitory to finish packing for The Burrow in the morning. Harry had just taken off his robes and thrown them on the bed, when he noticed a piece of torn parchment poking out of one of the pockets. He grabbed it; his brow furrowed in confusion, and read it.

Harry spluttered as he read it. He threw the note in his trunk, making sure it was hidden from sight from Ron. He didn’t need Ron making jokes about this for the entire holiday.

Tears

It was midnight. An onyx black sky hung over a small muggle village. Although it was late, lights shone from nearly every house and carols could be herd issuing from the village church. One house, however, lay dead and forgotten. No lights lit the windows and a sad kind of haze hung around it. The dead house of Spinners End.

Snape lay motionless in the dark. A single Christmas card clutched, creased and messy, in his pale hand. Sighing, he opened the card and read it for what must have been the hundredth time:

He stared at it for a while. But why should he? He was tired of this. He was tired of constantly sinking into deep depressions, lost in the sorrow of memory. She was gone, and there was nothing that would change that. Even if he could it would be pointless. She chose Potter.

He blinked hard. Then, without really thinking about it, he threw the crumbled card into the air and pointed his wand at it. It caught fire, and dropped to the floor.

Regret washed over him as soon as he did this. That was the one thing he had of Lily Evans. And it was gone. Just as she was.

Harry potter, too, was lying in the dark. The Burrow, however, was far from quiet. Ron was snoring loudly, and Fred and George, who were sharing the room because of Bill and Charlie’s appearance, were murmuring in their sleep. Harry couldn’t understand anything they said, but he was pretty sure he heard the words, “And great big boils,” issuing from George’s sleepy mouth.

Harry, however, was also staring at a crumpled piece of paper. He had kept the note with him at nearly all times. It surprised him that he felt curious about it at all, but he had absolutely no idea who it was from. Why couldn’t they talk to him? It was a mystery.

As he couldn’t sleep and because his brain was hurting from thinking, he got up, tip toed around Fred and Georges sleeping bodies (“”Water bombs!” murmured Fred) and stepped out onto the moonlit landing.

He could hear wailing, and instantly rolled his eyes towards the attic. But as he made his way downstairs to the kitchen for water, he stopped again. The wailing was softer, higher than usual. It couldn’t be the ghoul. It was coming from the door on his left. Harry lingered, not wanting to disturb whoever was in there. But then he heard a voice through the sobs mutter, “Oh God!”

Harry pushed open the bathroom door. Hermione was sat on the side of the bath. Her face and eyes were red, and her hair stuck to her face with tears.

“Hermione?” Said Harry quietly. She looked up, startled.

“Harry,” She sniffed. She put her face to her hands, and sobbed harder than ever. “I’ve...I’ve got to tell you something.”
