Harry lay in bed, thinking. He still had to find out who gave him the note he found just before Christmas. He pulled it out, and read it, for what seemed like the thousandth time:

His mind listed all the people that could be responsible, and one immidiatly jumped out at him. But how could it be...she would have said.
Sighing, he rolled over and fell into a restless sleep.

Hermione couldn’t get back to sleep. Every time she closed her eyes, images of Draco swam in font of them, as if they had been burned onto her lid. Every breath of air from the open window was his whisper; every night time noise was him.

She got out of bed and pulled a purple jumper over her pyjamas. Pulling her hair back into a loose plait, she walked downstairs to the common room.
It was deserted. Glancing at her watch, she saw why. It was two o’clock. She sat by the fire, but felt fidgety. She couldn’t settle. After trying to sit in several different places, she gave up and headed to the portrait hole. Perhaps she would go to the library; reading always settled her...

But when she looked up into the corridor, she froze. Draco Malfoy was stood beside the portrait hole, leaning against the wall, looking rather tense.
