Guilty

Harry was shocked. "What? What is it Hermione!"

He walked over to her and gently put one arm around her shoulders. She snuggled into him, tears still falling freely from her eyes.

"Ron hates me." She said and started to cry harder than ever.

"What?" Said Harry, "No he doesn't. Why would he?"

Hermione looked up and stifled a hicough. She looked at him for a minute in the silence and then whispered in a small voice, "You're goinng to hate me too."

"Hermione, dont be ridiculous, what is it?"

"I, Harry, i think im in love!"

Harry laughed. "Well thats a good thing! You know Ron would take you on anyday!"

He was still chuckling to himself, and then stopped at the sight of Hermione's face. She was not smiling, or laughing. In fact, she looked worse than before.

"I told Ron. I knew he'd have predudices, but i though i could go to him! Ive always thought i could go to him!"

She hicoughed again and continued.

"I told him, and he....and he...he slammed out of the room. He called me a traitor. He said he couldnt look at me. He said i was doing it on purpose!"

With the last line she collapsed into Harry in a great wave of tears. When she had calmed down she noticed something. Usually, when she was upset, Harry would sooth her, or hug her. But he was sitting shock still, and his arm had fallen from around her shoulders. She chanced a look up at him.

Harry was staring at her, a look of disgust creeping onto his face. Only one person could annoy Ron that much.

"Who is it, Hermione?" He asked, his voice deadly calm.

"Oh Harry, please dont hate me I-"

"Who is it, Hermione?" He repeated, more deadly this time.

Her answer was so quiet it was bearly audiable.

"Draco Malfoy."

Harry said nothing. He sat for a second or two, then got up, walked out of the door and left her, sobbing harder than ever, alone.
