Muahaha! Another post!

The day was beautiful, plain beautiful. Not a cloud lingered in the clear blue sky as Ced and I strolled down the High Street. His arm was wrapped around my shoulders. We veered into a stuffy little teashop. It was cute, really.

“Ever been here?” Ced asked, holding the door open for me. I shook my head. My eyes wandered around the shop. I recognized quite a few couples there and almost waved, but noticed they were either snogging or in deep conversation.

Ced took my hand and led us to a quaint, round table. The chair scraped against the floor as he pulled it out for me to sit. Thanking him, I sat down on it with a smile. He was such a gentleman. Hufflepuff boys were the best.

Madam Puddifoot scurried over to us, beaming and readying her quill to write down our orders. “Hello m’dears, what would you like?”

Ced caught my eye. “Two coffees?” I nodded. Butterbeer was totally over-rated these days.

A few minutes later, two steaming mugs were set lightly upon the tabletop. I gratefully took mine, smelling its soothing aroma. As I took a small sip, I detected Ced staring at me. Meeting his eyes, I just smiled.

“This is a cute little shop,” I commenting, admiring the décor. I avoided looking at the other snogging couples and wondered if Ced would kiss me in public.

“I thought you would like it,” he replied with a grin. “But it’s really quite hot in here.” He wiped his face with his hand and tugged on his brown shirt.

Nodding in agreement, I pulled the elastic out of my hair, letting it fall around my face. Cedric was still watching me. I fashioned it into a quick ponytail so that it wouldn’t heat up my face, which I could feel was already flushed from the heat of the room.

“So…do you know what the third task will be?” I inquired, stirring my coffee unhurriedly.

“Huh? Sorry, didn’t hear that.” Ced leaned his body over the table.

“I said, do you know what you’re going to have to do for the third task?”

“Sorry…again?” Ced scooted even closer. I rolled my eyes playfully after realizing he was joking and only wanted to get closer to me (kissing technique, of course).

“Do I really have to repeat myself?” I said softly, examining his beautiful blue eyes.

He shook his head, his face now only an inch from mine. He kissed me slowly and desirably, which made my heart thump loudly. Breaking away, he sat back in his chair. “That’s a bit awkward, having to lean across the whole table,” he observed, then slid his chair beside mine and sat down. “That’s better.”

His arm enclosed my shoulders and the other tilted my chin as he kissed me again, this time longer. He tasted like coffee. Mmm.

I'm glad things are going well between Ced and Cho...is the story going to span over the whole fourth year?

Another post! No, you are not dreaming.

It's true!

“After this last task is over, me and you are going to celebrate by ourselves for a bit, alright?” Ced said with a grin. We were seated on a fluffy couch in the Room of Requirement (just because). “I have a surprise for you.”

“Sounds good to me.” I smiled back at him and tousled his brown hair to make it a bit more unruly. My mind wandered with the possibilities. Lying down on the couch with my head in his lap, I closed my eyes.

“Remember that one Quidditch match? I was too busy staring at you to notice the snitch, and you got it before me. No joke.” Cedric chuckled at his own foolishness. “If I was still in Hogwarts next year, I’d just snog you in the middle of the field so you’d be too giddy to get the snitch.”

I just snorted, but smiled.

“Cho, why do you like me?” Ced asked unabashedly and suddenly, jerking me out of my stupor of thoughts.

This question startled me a bit and I re-opened my eyes. “Well, you’re such a gentleman and have a huge heart for everyone, including people you don’t like. And you are such a hard worker and a good sport.” I thought for a moment. “Plus, you are very good-looking.” I giggled, closing my eyes again. “Why do you like me?”

Ced ran a hand through my hair. “Let’s put it this way: you’re so amazing I’d die before I could let anyone take you away from me.” I could feel his lips on mine in a brief kiss.

Eyes still closed, I commented, “Then you won’t have to worry about that.”

If only I knew.

Pandemonium of cheers surrounded Ced and I as I wished him luck. “Be careful,” I told him, casting a wary look at the bushy maze that awaited him. “Don’t get yourself killed!”

He chuckled. “I promise I won’t; it’s just a maze,” he assured me, and then bent down to kiss me. I felt my soul soar in my chest. We were interrupted by Professor Dumbledore’s voice calling the champions to the pitch.

“Good luck.” I squeezed his hand, not wanting to let him go.

“Thanks.” Giving me a peck on the cheek, he jogged to the pitch with his father. I hastily climbed to my spot in the stands beside my friends, relieved that Ced hadn’t disappeared yet.

Just before he entered the gaping maze, he turned and met my eye. I smiled and waved wildly. He gave me a quick wave before sprinting into the foliage.

“C’mon, Cedric,” I whispered, anxious to see him. At least forty minutes must have passed. I wondered what was happening.

Then Harry, Cedric, and the cup appeared in the center of the open area. I cheered, along with all the Hogwarts students. Who’d won the cup, Harry or Cedric? I strongly hoped Ced had. He deserved it more than anyone.

Something was wrong. I bent over, squinting down at Ced’s form. He hadn’t moved. Harry was…crying. Then the word spread like fire: Cedric Diggory was dead.

No. No. He can’t be dead. He’s just unconscious. My thoughts raced. I couldn’t rip my eyes from his unmoving body. Then I saw Dumbledore bend over him and shake his head sadly. Mr. Diggory threw himself at his son and wept.

My hands clutched the railing until my knuckles turned white. My heart felt like it had shattered. He was really dead. But he’d told me! He told me that he wouldn’t get himself killed! Tears of anger and misery coursed down my cheeks. Covering my face with my hands, I sobbed. And sobbed.

Last post!

I wouldn’t have come here if Dumbledore hadn’t suggested it. But just to seem obedient, I yielded to his instruction. Gazing around Cedric’s dormitory, I couldn’t help but be in a daze. Just the day before, he’d slept in this bed. My fingers trailed along the covers and pillow.

We were supposed to have a celebration last night. It was supposed to be happy, not depressing. He had had a surprise for me.

The surprise. I remembered. What if it were an object, not an event? Choking back my tears, I looked around. I didn’t want to look through his things. Then I noticed a piece of paper sticking out from beneath his pillow. With curiosity, I pulled it out from under the poofy mass.

Carefully unfolding it, I studied the handwriting. It was Cedric’s, that was certain. It read,

Dear Cho,

This is just a letter for you to read whenever you’re feeling down or missing me during the summertime. You know, we could always plan to meet somewhere and hang out before school opens again.

Anyways, I just want to tell you that when we’re separated, which we will, I’ll be thinking about you. I hope you won’t forget us or the memories we’ve made over this year. You’re so special, Cho. Don’t ever forget that.

Oh yeah. Maybe we can even practice some Quidditch together. I promise I won’t kiss you while we’re on our brooms to make you giddy.

That sums it up. Remember, Cho Chang, you’re on my mind even now.

The tears came down and I didn’t try to stop them. But of course Ced wasn’t thinking about me right now. He was dead. I made myself repeat it. He’s dead. He’s dead.

Look at your face, it doesn’t shine the way it used to…

Across the room, a small mirror reflected me, my face contorted with tears. I choked them back for a moment to study my sorrowful visage.

Look at your eyes, they don’t sparkle anymore…

They were dull, lifeless. The rich, dark brown colour filled them had become black. I felt tears trickling down my cheeks once more.

Look what you’ve done, you’ve ruined it for everyone…

“Why did you have to die, Ced?” I cried to no one in particular and hoped that no one would come in while I was having my fit. “You promised me. You promised me that you wouldn’t kill yourself. Why couldn’t you have been more careful?”

[I]Who told you that you had to lose your innocence? I]

Throwing myself onto his four-poster bed, I wept into his pillow, my hand clasped around the note. It wasn’t Cedric’s fault. He was still the blameless, manly youth that I had known. But Voldemort had killed him. My anger turned.

“You git, Voldemort! Why did you kill Ced? He was such a nice guy and we had plans. You’ve ruined them, and I hope you’re satisfied. You’ve killed the best guy in the whole world.”

I, I’m starting over…

My voice became raspy and choked with tears. Crying more, I curled under Ced’s covers. My gaze reached the open window of his dormitory. A yellow-and-black butterfly was poised on the windowsill, nearly motionless. It seemed as though it was listening to me, so I directed my voice to it. “Ced, we were supposed to play Quidditch. And you were supposed to make me giddy on my broom. You should be right here, with me.” Sniffling, I told myself to calm down.

I, I’m starting over…

I took in some deep breaths and allowed myself to take in Cedric’s scent from the pillow and the covers that enveloped me. Clutching the note, I re-read it three times. Feeling quite drowsy, I felt my eyelids droop. The butterfly fluttered through the open window and landed softly on my hand that held Cedric’s note. Then I understood that Cedric wasn’t physically beside me here, but he still was with me. With that thought, I drifted into a peaceful sleep, the butterfly’s wings beating in unison with my heart.
