It's a short one that took me far too long to write. Sorry about that, but I've known how I want to end it for months now and I have to find a way from point A to B. Thank you for your patience! Real life is nuts and my wedding is only ten months away so please bare with me!

“It really is amazing how good he is with the baby, Mione.” Ginny whispered looking over her shoulder at Draco who was playing peek-a-boo with Minnie.
“I know, Ronald still thinks it’s a mistake to let him touch our daughter, but trusts Harry’s judgment. Every night he checks her over though to make sure there are no bruises or hexes or whatever. It’s amazing the grudge the man holds after so many years.”
“Well I can hardly blame Ron, after all, Draco did make his life hell for seven years.” Ginny said with a chuckle. She sat heavily on a kitchen chair rubbing her enormous belly.
“Yes, and he saved Ron’s life as well…” Hermione mumbled as she watched Draco tickle her daughter.

“excuse me… Mister Potter?” A young voice came from Harry and Ron’s shared office door.
Looking up Harry spotted the pale face of his new assistant.
“David, come in! stop calling me Mr. Potter! I’m Harry.” he shook his head at the young man fresh out of Hogwarts.
“Oh, um yes. Sorry, Mr. Harry sir.” David said shyly, he couldn’t believe he was working under the famous Harry Potter, the only wizard to defeat the dark lord. Handing Harry a memo he studied his own shoes, too afraid to make eye contact.
“ It’s an alert from the Minister of Magic. It seems that there have been whisperings of an uprising among the Death Eaters. Their number one Target is young Mister Malfoy. The Minister wanted to put you on alert, since you are the head Auror.”
Harry took the paperwork from David quickly and shot a glance at Ron. Only their direct families knew that Draco had been staying in the Potter’s home for the last two months. “Yes, thank you David. I’ll look into this.” Harry said with some tenseness slipping into his voice. Reaching into his robe pocket Harry pulled out a sack of Galleons. “David, It’s my Wife’s birthday. Run to the store for me and pick up the gift I have on hold for her please. Buy yourself a nice lunch with whatever is left over” Harry added for effect hoping the young man would leave he and Ron to discuss the new developments.
Looking into the satchel David stared up at Harry. “Unless you are buying your wife all of Diagon Alley there is far too much money in here for me to keep for my lunch.”
Harry glanced at the man with agitation, “then consider it a bonus for a wonderful first week.” Seeing the stress in Harry’s eyes , David just nodded and left for the store.

“I knew it was a bad idea to let him in your home, into our lives again!” Ron said as he slammed the door behind David.
“Ron, shut it. I’m thinking…”

Hermione had just left to start dinner for Ron and Ginny found herself in a difficult pickle. Should she get up and start cooking for Harry, or just sit there feeling fat and pregnant. “Just get up you whiner.” Ginny mumbled to herself as she tried to heave herself out of the kitchen chair.
“Ginny! Be careful!” Draco said as he entered the room to find Ginny struggling to lift her girth from the seat. “Think of those babies! You shouldn’t be putting so much stress on your body.” He helped the woman stand with a disapproving look on his face. He had become rather attached to the unborn children. After months of having no one to talk to but Ginny during the day, he felt like part of the family…well except when Ron was around. “Now what on earth do you need to be standing for?” He asked chastising.

“To start Dinner Draco. Oh for the Love of god! I’m pregnant, not ill! Stop treating me like broken glass.”
Ginny was frustrated with her condition. Growing three babies on her tiny frame was no laughing matter.

“Sit down. I will make dinner. “ He dropped to his knee in front of her and spoke to her belly. “that’s right, uncle Draco is going to make a fantastic supper for your mum and dad and of course you! Did you know it’s your mum’s birthday? That’s right she’s another year older!” Ginny rolled her eyes and shoved Draco playfully.
“Fine, if you want to play housewife be my guest, but stop telling my children I’m getting old!” she giggled.

Draco smiled as he helped her to her chair once more. “I can’t believe I’m being so nice to you Weasley.” He muttered in mocking of his old attitude toward her, and her family.

“Me either Malfoy.” Ginny giggled as the babies kicked her from all directions as if they were defending their “uncle Draco”. Pulling out some of the papers Hermione had asked her to help grade Ginny bent over the table. “come now Draco, you know I can’t work without a story. Tell me how you fell in love with your Monique.”

Draco smiled up from the boiling pot, his back turned to Ginny. “Again?”
“Yes again” Ginny said, a smile in her voice.
“I was working on a small muggle ranch in the states.” He began. “ And one morning sitting beneath a tree eating my breakfast I saw the most gorgeous woman to ever grace the earth … ”

“Well I must say, you make a damn good little cook there Malfoy” Ron said leaning back in his chair his eyes glinting mischievously.
“Ronald! You be nice and don’t ruin your sister’s birthday” Hermione whispered

Draco just laughed, “Yeah thanks Ron, I figured I may as well become a woman since I seem to be surrounded by them, well and Harry of course.” He gave a wink as he cleared the dishes and the girls erupted into laughter.

“So mister Potter, I do believe you owe me a birthday gift.” Ginny said with a smile as she rubbed her enormous belly.

Harry smiled and nodded. “That I do love, it should be here any minute.” and with that a knock at the door sounded. “Ah that must be David with your gift.” Harry said with a chuckle as he answered the door.

“Hello Mr. Potter, I mean Mr. Harry sir…” David said flustered “I brought you your wife’s gift.” He said in one breath.

“Oh Harry do invite the boy in!” Ginny called from the dining room
“I don’t think that is the best idea Ginny…” Hermione hissed as David entered the room.
“Oh stop Mione, it’s my birthday and I want the boy to have some cake!” Ginny said with a giggle.

“Did someone say cake?” Draco asked as he entered carrying a largely lopsided chocolate cake and placed it on the table. Noticing David sitting there Draco quickly turned on his heel and went to the kitchen. “Will that be all Mrs. Potter?” He asked in a terrible American accent in hopes of throwing off the newcomer. No one was to know he was there.

Harry placed Ginny’s gift on the table and looked to David pulling out his wand. “Do I need to do a memory wiping charm on you?” He asked menacingly.

“Umm no sir Mr. Potter sir. I uh… I didn’t see anything.” David stuttered standing quickly knocking over his chair. “I should leave…” He said twisting the sleeves of his robes between his fingers.

“If you mention ONE word of this David, it will be your life that is at stake David.” Ron said as he closed the door behind the retreating boy. Turning to his sister Ron gave her a disparaging look. “ YOU HAD to invite him to cake! Now the whole operation is at stake. Good move Gin.”

“Shove off Ron, he passed security clearance it’ll be fine. We’ll just put up some more protection charms on the house. I’m sorry Draco, are you terribly mad at me?” She yelled toward the kitchen.
Appearing in the doorway Draco gave her a grin. “How could I be mad at you? He couldn’t hurt a gnat, besides, I’m in the hands of the triumphant trio.” He chuckled as he sat. “So, you ever going to open that enormous gift your husband brought in?”

Ginny’s eyes glittered like those of a small child on Christmas morning. “Ooooh! Gimmie!”

Harry was pacing the office yet again when Ron entered the room.
“What are you doing mate?”
“Thinking, worrying…” Harry replied without looking at his best friend.
“If David were going to say anything it would have happened by now.”
“Oh no not that. I’ve already decided nothing bad will happen. I’m just freaking out. I’m going to be a father in a month. I don’t know if I’m ready…” Harry mumbled as he suddenly stopped and looked at Ron. “I’m going mad aren’t I?”
Ron laughed and smiled. “Hell mate, if I can do it anyone can.”
“But I get THREE at once!” Harry said with a wide eyed expression.

“Ooof!” Ginny grunted as she hunched over the kitchen counter. “ DRACO!!!” she shouted as she doubled over in pain.
He came running holding his shirt. He had just been getting dressed but knew something was wrong if Ginny was yelling for him. “Gin! What’s wrong?” he asked out of breath.
“Get Hermione! Get my Mum! The babies… Something is wrong.”
“But how? I can’t leave!”
“Step three feet out of the garden you’ll be able to disapparate.” She groaned as she lowered herself to the floor. She was covered in sweat. “don’t look at me like that, I need help we can’t disaparate from the property anymore and I can’t make it to the yard. Go! Harry will understand!” She panted .

Draco nodded “I’ll be right back.” With that he ran out into the yard, took steps three feet past the garden and faced the business end of a wand.
“Hello son, Mummy has been waiting for you.” Narcissa Malfoy hissed.

Ginny sat panting on the kitchen floor, tears streaming down her face. Something was wrong. It was more than early labor, she just knew something was wrong with the babies. “My little loves, please… please don’t leave me.” She whispered through tears as she slowly turned herself to her knees. Deciding it would be best to be closer to the door Ginny forced herself to crawl to the living room and heaved herself onto the sofa. Dizzy and nearly ready to pass out she reached for her wand. If she needed to she would lower the protection spell herself and apparate to St. Mungos.

Draco’s eyes widened at the voice of his mother. “Hello mum, can’t say I’ve missed you too terribly. Mind lowering your wand?” He gave her his usual self assured smirk, while in his chest his heart pounded with fear.
“No my sweet baby, I’m afraid mummy will have to kill you today. You see you stole the only man I’ve ever loved. How dare you MURDER your own father!” Narcissa raged her hand shaking.

“Mother I haven’t time for this nonsense. Lower your wand. I’ve ridden the world of stronger wizards than you and seeing as I’ve already killed one of my parents, I wouldn’t be so sure I was safe if I were you.” Draco hissed in anger. He was bluffing, his wand was locked away inside the Potter household.

“You wouldn’t dare.” Narcissa declared in outrage. “Goodbye Draco… Avada Ked…” Before Narcissa could finish the curse Draco lunged for her Knees and took her to the ground. They thrashed on the dirt path for a bit before Draco had her pinned on her back, his knee to her throat and her wand in his hand. Pointing it at her head he growled. “Who told you I was here ? The truth mother or so help me you will die much slower and more painfully than father did.”

Narcissa cackled. “Your little hero Potter won’t be saving you. David has seen to that.” Draco had suspected as much. Looking at her savagely he knew she had alerted other death eaters to his location, his mind wandering to Ginny inside he knew what he had to do. “Sleep well mummy” With that he pressed his knee on her windpipe, pulled his right arm back and slugged her in the face so hard a deep purple bruise appeared almost instantly. Pointing the wand at her he shouted “Stupefy!” and ran back to the house. It was no longer safe to leave Ginny alone.

“Really mate! Stop pacing you’re making me ill.” Ron said from his desk where he sat reviewing some paperwork trying to avoid real work. A meek knock sounded at the door. “That’s David’s knock, go pace over there and answer the door.” Ron chuckled.
“I think someone is forgetting who’s in charge.” Harry said with a smile as he opened the door to find David with his wand drawn and pointed at Harry.

“That’s right, I’m in charge.” David said in a mere whisper. Ron jumped up wand in hand.

“what game are you playing David? It isn’t funny!” Ron shouted.
“Oh but I think it is.” David said, his brown eyes cloudy as if in a daze.
“He’s under the imperius curse Ron.” Harry whispered
Ron nodded at Harry and slowly counted to ten in his head. When he reached ten Harry ducked as Ron shouted out a long string of charms knocking David unconscious.
Harry ran to the hallway and found another auror. “Go to the minister, tell them the ferret is on fire.” he nearly shouted. “Ron, now!”
“I’m ahead of you.” Ron replied as the both apparated to the potter house.

“It’s in the broom closet. Take it.” Ginny moaned from her place on the sofa.
“I’m not concerned with my wand right now.” Draco replied through gritted teeth as he looked beneath Ginny’s dress at the quickly progressing labor.
“No, it’s not safe. There will be more coming soon. Let me die, just let me die.” Ginny cried out in pain, tears streaming down her face.
“No!” Draco snapped at her while he was trying to assist the first baby into the world.

Two loud pops were heard outside quickly followed by Ron and Harry running in shouting.
“Ginny! Draco! Wands NOW! We need to get out of here security has been breached!” both stopped short as they saw Draco kneeling with Ginny in labor.

“What the hell?!” Harry said looking a bit dazed. “We need to get her to St. Mungos NOW”
Draco shook his head. “No time, the babies are coming now and my mother is unconscious outside. This is the safest place for her.
Ron looked at the scene before him. “Then you need to leave we’ll assist Ginny, but it’s not safe for you here. “ Pulling Draco’s wand from the closet he tried to hand it to him.
“NO! I’m not leaving her. The first baby has the umbilical chord around their neck. How many babies have you brought to the world? Either of you? I’ve helped dozens of horses foal, now back up get me some blankets and water!” Draco shouted at the two men. His main concern was to make sure no more babies died because of him, or his parents.

After twenty minutes the first baby was out and breathing slowly. The tiny baby boy was struggling to breathe, but Draco was already moving to catch the second of the triplets emerging into the world. After forty five minutes of Ginny begging to die Draco realized the third child was breach.
“Gin, I’m going to need to turn the baby or it will never be born and we haven’t got much time.” He whispered. Harry and Ron were walking the perimeter of the house , Harry checking in every minute or so to see if the third baby was on it’s way yet. He hated not holding Ginny as she gave birth to their children, but it he wasn’t careful the entire family could be ambushed and killed.
Ginny nodded at Draco. “Do it quickly” Then groaned at the agony she felt as the last baby was righted. Pushing with all of her might the last child was born. Squalling loudly all three of the infants seemed to be doing well. Wrapping the third child in a blanket Draco handed Ginny all three tiny infants.
“One boy, two girls.” He smiled down at Ginny with tears in his eyes forgetting for a moment that the battle he was facing was only half over.

A loud bang sounded as the windows shattered throughout the house. The protection spell had been broken and they were no longer safe. Throwing himself on top Of Ginny and the babies Draco heard Harry and Ron shouting spells and counter curses at his father’s acquaintances. Then his mother’s familiar cackle. He held firmly to his wand determined to protect Ginny and the triplets no matter what. He felt a searing pain in his back, and then nothing. Just, blackness…
