It's figuratively speaking. Like, he found out she's a vampire and now he's 'running' as in... he was trying to get close to her before, you know?
Now he doesn't want to because he's afraid because Seanne is different. She has something that he doesn't understand, and that worries him.
It's kinda hard to explain, but that's the best I can do

That's like, most of the sequel actually, all about Cody, Deanne, and Draco with others coming in and out of the story

Ha, I came up with a good idea for another F.F yesterday. Based on a song (that I've known for ages but took forever to think of a good plot for it).
And the main character is an OC, but a guy this time because so far I only have one other f.f with a guy as the main character (his POV) that's an OC and that's the possible prequel for this story.
And I've started so many and haven't had much success... but I'm trying a bit harder with this one

And I didn't realize how important the name(s) in the story are (the main character's first name has a meaning I didn't realize until an hour ago. His fake last name was picked because of meaning though).

Another story based around secrets and lies, but that's because of the song. And the 'secret' is hinted in the first chapter and is known quickly, not like this f.f where it was known but not said til near the end. Only readers and one other character knows while everyone else is oblivious.
Man, I do like this idea a lot more than the other ones I had/have... it better work out!
Within the next few weeks I'm hoping to have it up too. It'll be called Angels (song by Within Temptation).

Chapter 19
Choices

The next two weeks passed awkwardly. I was happy word hadn’t gotten around about my secret, but Harry still seemed to have a problem with it. Ron, on the other hand, was just more on edge than he was going full-out on avoiding me the way his best friend was. Ginny was the same, and it seemed Hermione was the only one that actually seemed to get over it by acceptance. We were closer as a result, but that had its pros and cons.

If only she could understand the difference between us is beyond human.


“What are your plans after grad?” Hermione asked me as we wandered outside.

“I dunno, I was thinking of asking if I could join the Order actually...”
I saw a surprised expression on her face out of the corner of my eye. It then changed to thoughtful.

“That would actually be rather helpful... and since you’re able to at least stand Lupin that helps even more.”

I grumbled at the mention of the man’s name. We then stopped by the shoreline of the Black Lake, which was entirely deserted by students. Naturally, I bet that Cody was lingering somewhere in the forest, but it’s not like I’d count him. We had grown a bit closer, to my own surprise as well, since that day he was nearly stretched to death (a thought I found rather amusing afterwards). I think because of that, I learned that deep down, I do still love him, even if I don’t like the thought of it after everything he had put me through.

“And what about your other vampire friend? Unless he and the rest of the people he associates with decide to avoid the incident,” she emphasized the two words. “He probably won’t be going back.”

“Once you join the Dark Lord, there’s no going back,” I muttered, absentmindedly kicking a rock. It soared many feet in the air and it dropped into the water with a splash.

“Yeah,” Hermione murmured, just as grimly. She then seemed to remember something, but didn’t say it.

“What?” I finally asked.

“What are you doing to do about Malfoy?”

I automatically fell silent.

“Come on, you know it’s going to be coming soon... maybe tomorrow after grad, you never know,” Hermione pointed out.

“I don’t know. There’s just so much to consider. I mean, history with Cody, possibility of accidentally killing Draco...”

“Wouldn’t be much of a loss,” Hermione said, shrugging. I turned to look at her with a glare. “Oh yeah...” she chuckled, clearly embarrassed. She gained back her composure and asked me, “So you have no idea what to say to them?”

“I’ll just tell them I need to think about it more. I dunno, what would you say?”

Hermione appeared in thought for many long moments.

“It just seems... what do you think Draco will do when he leaves Hogwarts? Follow in his father’s footsteps? Or dare defy him and You-Know-Who?”

I thought about that. I shrugged and responded, “We’ll find out. I can’t say if he does join the Death Eaters it will make it any easier.”

Hermione sighed.

“I know,” I said, sighing as well. “It just seems easy, but at the same time it’s hard. If I choose Draco, he’s still human. If I go for Cody... well, it’s Cody.”

For what felt like the first time that week, Hermione chuckled. Above us, thunder echoed across the grounds. As we looked up, rain emptied from the clouds, pounding down ruthlessly.

“You go on in, I want to check something,” I told Hermione.

She nodded understandingly and ran into the castle. I went in the opposite direction and practically fell backwards; Cody was standing by the edge of the forest, hidden behind a tree.

Lightning lit up the suddenly blackened sky.

“You know it’s dangerous to be under a tree when there’s lightning,” I told him. “But it’s even more dangerous now that I know you were listening to me.”

Cody smiled.

“About your doubts of my allegiance, do you honestly think that I’d go back to a group that tried to kill me?” he pointed out, pulling me closer protectively when a strip of fork lightning descended onto the earth with a long, loud crack. I let my cheek rest on his chest, my ear over where the soft beat of a heart would be on a human.

“You’ve changed; how should I know?”

I looked up at him once I felt his eyes on my head.

“What do you mean exactly?”

“You know what I mean.”

He just kept looking at me. I knew full well he wanted me to elaborate.

“You left your coven, for goodness sake! You just... went bad. Living off of human blood, becoming cold in personality, threatening me. For all I know... if you hadn’t have changed so much, I would still be human and be some 50 year old woman.”

“Would that be a life worth living?”

“That’s what you kept telling me would be, but you contradicted yourself that day.”

He knew what I was referring to.

“Why?” I whispered. He drew me close once more at another crack of lightning that follow the echoing thunder.

“Before I met you, my life was like a dark room. Walls on all four sides, pitch black. You were my light that led me to the door, but I didn’t realize that until you left. When that happened, life was meaningless. Everyone I knew refused to kill me, so I left, attempting to distract myself. Along the way, I attempted tracking, and I passed through a muggle town as a result. I smelled something, it was horrible, like sour milk. I followed the scent and round a group of muggle boys running away, leaving something. I found someone dead. This unfortunate person was stabbed to death, their blood everywhere. That’s when the foul smell left and an overpowering, sweet scent just overtook.

“I’ve never been good with large amounts of blood, like Carlisle. Before I could think, any trace of blood was gone. Ever since then, things just kept getting more out of control. When I found you...” he couldn’t even finish.

Before I could respond, I recognized the sweet smell of Draco; it was getting stronger by the second. Pulling away slightly, both Cody and I looked around, trying to find Draco.

“You should go,” he said. I heard the unwillingness in his voice.

“I might see you tomorrow,” I responded, shrugging. Cody pulled me into a kiss. It felt like only short moments until the sensation of heaven was yanked from me and he said to me, “Go.”

He let me go, and I ran towards the castle. Just as I was in the courtyard 200 feet from the doors, I nearly ran into Draco.

“What’re you still doing out here?” he asked me. Thunder cracked one more, emphasizing his question.

“I like rain,” I responded, shrugging.

“Well you do like many weird things, so I won’t question that.”

I glared at him as he smirked playfully.

“Come on,” he said softly. He took my hand - surprisingly he didn't even flinch at the cold my hands emanated - and we ran inside the castle.

Harry and Ron just need to be the men I feel they should be. As for Hermione I'm happy she's not like them or Ginny for that matter.

The next chapter is the last one of this story That'll be up in a few days, and if you guys want a sequel, I have that started - just some parts missing. If not (kinda explained a bit longer further below), well yeah, whatever works really =)

I love how there were like, 20 readers in the beginning of the story but it dwindled down to three That's good cause that shows you guys are faithful readers! And it's always awesome to have such kewl readers like you guys

Yep, they need to man up and accept the fact people are different, despite how it can be some drastic differences. That's clearly something they haven't seemed to realize that.

Technically speaking he is. The history on that is in the sequel
It's kinda complicated so it's a long shot to call him a true Cullen. But he was transformed by Carlisle, which shows up in the possible sequel (the Cullens, all of them, are in it. Two chapters in the beginning/middle and afterwards a bit)

Yeah, I dunno if I should bother with the sequel or not... I jumped around in about 2 or 3 different spots and can't seem to get past any (the 3rd is one of the two possible endings so I guess that doesn't count) At this rate I'm thinking of scratching my prequel idea (I was thinking that I would do the sequel, and then the prequel where it's about... well it's about the chapter Dee's Secret with how she explained her past with Cody. It's that entire summary and a bit more in a story form but I suppose it won't work)

Yep, Cody is like Edward - cool at first but by the end you're like 'Eh...'
He's not as Edward-like in the sequel. He can be but not all the time. And they're especially kind of similar when the two fight...

It all depends on if I'll have time to complete the two ro three loose ends in the story because it just stops at one chapter, jumps FARTHER ahead into another chapter and then it cuts off again in the chapter after that and then there're two alternate endings depending on poll popularity.

This chapter is the last chapter anyways And since I'll be gone til like, the 26th (from next Sunday til the 26th I'm going to be in France for Spring break with my school and apparently my cousin's school), better update now.

May be a sequel, still debating that honestly... skipped so many parts and I haven't looked at it in ages
I was thinking about a prequel actually, based on Deanne's Secret (as in her few paragraphs on her past within Switzerland and how she met Cody), but I doubt that'll happen honestly, so more likely a sequel but that's still debatable...
Personally I like this story more but that’s because Cody is much more interesting in this one thanks to mysteriousness. One reason why I think he’s similar to Edward – cool and friggin awesome in the beginning, but once you really know him he’s kinda boring and a bit of a jerk and idiot about some things and is a total liar That’s what I think at least, I know others here disagree )
Last stretch here is something I put in before. Last comment and the chapter is up, I swear!

Ha, this is the fastest I’ve ever written a fan fiction – just a bit over two weeks, not even (in October '07 too)! I liked it tho... I finished Eclipse and wanted to write something vampire-related, so not only did I make a known vampire in this story, but a supposedly secret one.
Kinda short, but it’s not as short as my Everything I’m Not last chapter, eh?
Oh well, this is honestly one of my favourite chapters that I've ever written.

Chapter 20
Graduation

“Lyon, Deanne.”

I stood up and walked down the centre aisle. Gracefully making my way up the steps, I shook Professor McGonagall’s hand and took the diploma.

“Good job,” she told me, smiling warmly.

“Thanks,” I responded, grinning. I passed through the short line of professors, shaking each hand, all of them flinching at the sudden cold on my hand, and stood next to a Ravenclaw student.

“Malfoy, Draco.”

The Slytherins cheered and whooped as he sauntered down the centre aisle and got up to receive his diploma. We all waited until the last name of the graduating class was called.

“Congratulations Hogwarts graduates of 1998!” McGonagall announced.

We all pulled our grad hats off and tossed them into the air, letting them flail about and come back down. Draco then took a hat from the ground and threw it into the crowd. We all laughed as one of the mothers got the hat whipped into her face.

I saw a figure in the distance. Looking beyond the crowds of people, I saw Cody in the distance, nothing more than a mere dot to human eyes, but I saw him perfectly. He was watching, smiling.

I already knew what was to come next, but until then I may as well enjoy graduation without worries. Thinking about worries, I remembered how I always so determined to keep my secret clandestine. As I looked around out of the corner of my eye, I knew that it was probably best that the people I both held close and thought would understand knew.

After all, it probably wasn’t best kept secret.

The last chapter? Nooo! I wanna know who she chooses, Cody or Draco? I vote yes to the sequels AND prequels!

this was a beautiful finale. *tear tear* she finally graduated anddidn't get kicked out!<3 I'm happy for her, and way to go Cody on not ruining everything, eh?

Sequel will be up... soon-ish. Not too far away but not like, in a few days. Spring break here and I'm going to France with a group from my school and while I'm there I have to write a stupid freaking persuasive essay about Romeo and Juliet (free will or fate, or love and hate. Oh joy x.x). So that's why it's not too soon basically.
Within the next month or so. Before June at the latest cause I do plan on like, getting it done either before I leave for France for my exchange or just after I get there kind of thing. The sequel won't be too long as a result, and it'll update a bit faster (I always waited to see if there were any other comments from others before updating again and I also had other stuff - that's why it took longer here)

I'm going to try with the sequel but despite how I liked the prequel thing I'm not bothering with that - if I continue with that I'll be wasting my year in France writing fan fictions and that's not the whole idea of my year-long Rotary trip there. I'm gonna probably stop f.f writing altogether soon anyways.

But there WILL be a sequel and the basis of that is Draco, Deanne, and Cody.
All that tension... Draco being persistant and that goes so far he actually says 'please'... the Cullens (all)... and Remus! *dont ask why ish randomly added the werewolf*
And it's nearly done (just gotta make... 3 parts meet together cause I jumped around a bit) so it makes it easier. With the prequel... ok idea but not really worth doing.

So yeah, glad you all liked this story and followed through til the end! *shmuggles*
