Finally updating  More of Cody ;) But, of course, much more to come of him. I personally like him more in this story than the sequel, but that's cause he's more mysterious and not much is known :D Kinda like Edward... better when he was less known and mysterious, once you really know him he's not as cool as you thought (that's what I think about him that is). So yeah, ENJOY! Believe me, title does say it all... Harry? That evening, I was daring enough to go out. I don’t know why, but I actually felt like talking to someone that... seemed to understand slightly. Of course, that feeling will wash away as soon as I look into the onyx eyes of the predator. The sky was still barely alight, the clouds and sky a shade of pink. With this light, I dared to venture into a small woods that I learned led to another ‘lake’ – it was more of a pond than anything. “Decided to come back?” the male voice slid through the trees and into my ears. I looked around, but I couldn’t see Cody. I didn’t like the thought of him stalking me; it was too eerie, especially with the darkness closing in. Turning back again, I kept my pace as I neared the excuse of a lake. I stopped inches from the shoreline, and I inhaled, the smell of salt water tickling my nose. Along with this scent was the familiar aroma of sweet flowers. I wasn’t sure if that was coming from me or Cody, honestly. “Who’s with you?” I inhaled again and realized what he was talking about. I recognized the spicy scent of Harry. That’s weird, what’s he doing here? “Harry?” I called. Suddenly, a black-haired head poked around from behind a tree on the side of the ‘lake’ adjacent to me. “Who are you?” he called. I knew he was asking Cody. A gust of wind blew by me; Cody was running. He stopped in front of a stunned Harry. “Your worst nightmare,” I heard him growl. “Don’t kill him!” I snapped. Cody looked over his shoulder at me; his eyes were pure black. He hadn’t ‘eaten’ in awhile, and that alone worried me. He turned back and seemed to be looking at Harry. “Who are you?” he snarled. “H-H-Harry P-Potter,” he stuttered in response. “And what’s your name?” “What’s it to you?” Cody responded as he backed up a matter of feet, distancing himself so he would be able to keep Harry alive. He knew full well it was vital that Harry was kept alive. “I’d like to know who’s threatening me...” “Harry, shut up. Angering the beast won’t do any good.” That comment was always an eye-roller for Cody. Thankfully he never got insulted by it, though... at least there’s some fun left in him. “Beast? What are you, a werewolf? Full moon is tomorrow night,” Harry commented casually. I sighed and hit my hand to my head; what an idiot! “Werewolf?” Cody growled. His voice got louder, still snarling. “You think I’m one of those dogs?” Naturally, he’d be insulted. Werewolves are a vampire’s mortal enemy. “What are you then?” “He’s a vampire, you idiot!” I called. “Why’re you here?” “Wondering what you were doing... why’re you associating with vampires?” Harry called back. “Not like I have a choice...” I muttered. Cody chuckled, hearing what I said clearly. “What’s so funny?” Harry asked, his voice having gone to a growl. He stepped out from behind the tree finally. “Nothing.” “Harry, if you care for your life, you should get out of here,” I called out to him. He looked at me curiously. “What makes you say that? I’m not dead yet.” Classic Harry, he reacts more than he thinks of the consequences. He should learn to be proactive one of these days; maybe then he’d avoid these kinds of situations. Hell, what am I thinking? This is Harry! “Do you realize how hungry Cody is?” “So you’re name’s Cody, eh?” I could imagine Cody’s eyes narrowing, the black of his irises blazing angrily. “Harry, please...” I begged, hoping he’d hear me. Thankfully, he did. “Fine. When you get back... I have to tell you something.” With that said, Harry trudged away. I watched him walk down the shoreline of the Black Lake and head towards the castle. As soon as entered the castle, Cody whipped around. “You know Harry Potter?” he asked curiously, slowly making his way back to me. “Yeah, so?” “This could solve our problem! We could use you to lure him to the Dark Lord...” I was shaking my head before he even made it halfway through his sentence. Cody stopped in front of me, placing his hand softly on my cheek. It had been so long since he’d touched me so carefully, the way he used to before I left. Despite how much I hated to admit it... I missed it. Damn it! He was making me vulnerable. “Why?” he breathed the word. “I would never forgive myself. Besides, he doesn’t deserve to die.” Cody looked at me questioningly. I could tell he thought I was crazy. “I’m not like my parents exactly... it’s not like he chose to be who he is after all,” I pointed out. “But he chose to fight the Dark Lord instead of following him; instead of fulfilling his destiny.” “And what would that be? Death?” I retorted, my eyes narrowing. Cody smiled at my anger and laced his fingers into my hair, toying with it. “You have your options with being his friend,” he said simply after a few moments. His eyes burned into mine and after a moment I looked away. “Think about them.” He kissed my cheek and then left into the dark shadows of the forest. As I went in the opposite direction, I fought the urge to scream in frustration. Either he didn’t get it, or he really is a sadist! |

Well I’m not going to title it ‘My Story’ :D Sounds better this way. Enjoy. P.S: When Harry said ‘I want to tell you something’, it was more of a... well he wasn’t entirely true. He didn’t want to say ‘we need to talk’ in front of Cody basically. Just so you guys know. They still talk of course, but it’s not Harry wanting to tell her something, more... wanting to know something ;) P.P.S: Ha, been awhile since I've done this (the P.P.S business), but another thing relating to the chapter. When Deanne's all '"...until one night." I shivered at the memory', it's never truly explained what happened until the sequel. I actually had to change that paragraph before posting so it'd fit what I did in the sequel just hours ago. So don't ask what happened, cause it's not even in future chapters of this story :shifty: Deanne’s Story I managed to make it back to the common room just as the hour hand hit 10pm. I walked as swiftly as possible, trying not to make too much noise. “Dee?” “Don’t call me that,” I snarled automatically. I spun to face the source of the noise and saw Harry leaning against the wall next to the fireplace. He was looking back at me, chuckling. Within moments, he became quiet and his expression became curious. “How do you know him?” It took me a mere moment to realize Harry was asking me about Cody. “Not like I had much choice,” I muttered and looked down from Harry’s curious gaze and at the couch that stood close. Harry still heard my comment, though. “What do you mean?” I looked back up and said, “It’s a long story.” “Unless you’re tired...” I’m never tired. “Well, no but...” “Then we have time,” Harry cut in, smiling innocently. I was surprised at how captivating it was... almost like Cody’s. The close similarity slightly scared me. “Sit down then,” I said, smiling back. I could see emotion deep within his eyes, but I couldn’t place it. He did as I said, taking a seat on the soft chair next to the couch, and I sat half on the couch in the seat closest to him, half in the middle seat. “What do you want to know?” I asked flatly. “How do you know him?” Harry repeated. Sighing, I figured where I should start my story, and what I should leave out. “Ok, look, I’ve been to 3 different schools. I knew Cody since before then, but I didn’t know... who he was for awhile. I met him when I was nearly 14, first as friends. After a few weeks, things changed into a deeper relationship, but I didn’t know he was a vampire until one night...” I shivered at the memory, unable to continue. “But don’t vampires...” Harry started to cut in. “Stay the same age once they become a vampire? Not necessarily, they do age; otherwise there wouldn’t be old, grey-haired vampires around. They age at a very slow rate, but age none the less.” “So how old was the vamp when that happened?” “The same age he looks now.” “17? Seriously?” “Yeah.” “How old is he really?” “Uh... now or back then?” “Now,” Harry responded as if it was obvious. I rolled my eyes. “He’s like, probably 90 by now. Not that old for a vampire; in his old coven his ‘father’ was 450 years old.” Harry gapped. “Anyways, do you know how vampires pick the ones they love?” Harry shook his head. “There will always be one person in the world at one point that has blood that smells much sweeter, a scent that’s more entrancing than the others. Half the time, vampires either accidentally kill the ones they love because they can’t control themselves in a certain situation, or they just bite them and their love becomes a vampire. All the rules...” I left my sentence hanging. “Huh,” Harry said, sounding interested. “Anyways, your story?” “Oh yeah. Anyways, so I was going to school and he wasn’t, so he’d often sneak into the grounds or live in the woods with creatures, something he obviously didn’t mind. Back then, he chose to live off of animals, not humans. He had more self-control that was constantly being perfected. He wanted to be like his father, a vampire that’s become a doctor and can handle a fair bit of blood without loosing control.” “Did that change?” Harry asked suddenly. I gave him a warning look, and he was quiet. “Something happened between us, and I ran. I couldn’t take being around him, so I... fled the country. It was always something he told me to do; ‘I’m too dangerous’, ‘too unpredictable’, etcetera. My parents and I got a home out there, but when I was at school, he just found me one day a few months later. He changed... he left his coven, and a coven is a group of vampires,” I explained before Harry could ask and interrupt me again. “And his... taste changed. He was no longer a ‘vegetarian’, an inside joke he shared with his family because of their meal choice. He became... evil. He then messed up so bad, I had to leave school for a short while and push him away. When I felt ready, I went back, but he kept finding me and when we’d have a big fight, he’d tell people what happened.” “What happened?” “I can’t tell you,” I responded softly. Harry sighed, but didn’t push it thankfully. “What happened next?” “I kept switching schools; he pushed me across the continent as a result. I started in Switzerland with schooling, met him there... then I ran to France. After my family moved there and I started school, he found me; we had a fight, told my secret, family moved with me again to Spain. Same thing happened, and I went to Scotland. I survived two years there before anything happened, and now I’m here. “Through it all, he’s managed to find me. It’s not like my family and I left any hints of where we were going; we’d just leave through Apparition, yet he’d find me. He never seemed to get that I want to be away from him. I mean, I’d leave for a few days at a time before ever leaving in the first place, and he always said the only thing that kept him pre-occupied was hunting, and when that got... boring, he’d attempt to track, something he never mastered. He said... he told me that his life is like the night’s sky; I’m a meteor that has flown in and lit up the sky, but then that meteor seemed to pass through the sky and leave it in total darkness, you know? And he’s left in the dark, and I felt the same way honestly, we always needed each other like... like a drug. It just seems I’ve gotten over my addiction, but he hasn’t. “So now I’m here because of him, and he won’t leave me alone no matter what I say, do, or where I go. I always try my hardest not to fight with him enough to get him angry, but something always seems to happen and his threats become reality.” “Why are you so big on keeping this secret?” Harry asked once he knew I was finished. “People think differently of me,” I responded with a shrug. “As a result, I’m shunned. No one cares that I’m there...” “Not everyone is like that,” Harry cut in with a warm smile. “I’ll bet you that when you learn what it is, which I know will happen at one point despite how much I wish it wouldn’t, you’ll act like the others. I bet you’ll run and try to keep away.” “I would never do that to you,” Harry said assertively. I dropped it; sooner or later, he’d find out, and when that time comes, he will be like the others. He’ll be like the Slytherins and the way they treated him after they learned he wasn’t on their side... but worse. |

OMG ... FIRST TIME READER. this is totally fantastic i so cant wait to read the following chapter PAMS Please |
Ok, I was only putting off because I wanted to see if anyone else would post... (EDIT: I do have the entire story done, so don't think I didn't wait because I was stuck on this chapter :)) I kinda made a bet with myself as a result. I won  Anyways, update... Here it is. It's short but I enjoyed writing this one; as you'll tell it was the result of boredom, but yes, it is kind of needed for later on (lead-up and all). Enjoy. I had a whole story written about one line I used in the end, but I think I might've told it... and either way no one would read it because it's so long :D P.S: Oh yeah, for all you that read Everything I'm Not... sorry about taking forever to post the sequel Let Me Go; I want to get a few chapters ahead and I'm kind of stuck on the end of chapter 2/beginning of chapter 3 (and I want to get ahead). Same story with the Hogwarts School Musical, but I'm stuck in chapter 1, so I have a more legitimate reason for that one. They'll be up soon, I promise! Library Prison Escape A few days later, on the weekend, I was in the library with Hermione, a wall of books stacked between us. I had spent the last hour doing homework and last-second projects, but Hermione refused to let me go beyond the library doors. She had shockingly good eye-sight, too. I heard movement and I turned to my left. Coming up to the table was Harry and Ron, both attempting to be quiet. When they saw I was looking, they put a finger to their lips and motioned for me to turn my head as if I hadn’t noticed. As soon as I did, Hermione looked up and over the book wall. I looked in the direction she was, and saw nothing. I tried hard not to chuckle; I could see them hiding behind the book shelf, pretending to pull books off. I turned my head back and put it back down, getting back to work. Hermione did the same. I looked out of the corner of my eye and saw Harry and Ron on the floor, crawling in the way you would when you’re trying to stay low beneath barbed wire barely a foot above your head. I stifled a chuckle and kept working. Suddenly, I felt a tug on my ankle. I pretended to drop my pencil and bent down to pick it up. Under the large table was Harry. “What are you doing?” I mouthed. “Rescuing you,” he mouthed back. “Ron and I saw your escape attempts.” “And this is better?” Harry just shrugged. “Be ready to run once you get around the corner.” Harry nodded. I folded my papers and stuck them in a pocket. I then got up and started to go around the corner. “Where’re you going?” I looked over my shoulder and saw a suspicious Hermione. “Going to find another book on...” “Last time you said that you tried to run.” I rolled my eyes. I grabbed a pile of books and said, “I’m getting another book, but I’m putting these away.” “If I see that you’ve...” “Ok.” I then walked around the corner, the books in my arms piled higher than my head. Suddenly, half the pile was taken, and I saw Ron’s face. “Thanks,” I sighed as I put the books on the floor. “No problem. But speaking of problems, what’s with Hermione?” Ron whispered. “She’s insane!” I whispered back. “I tried to make a break for it, but...” “She stopped you with the Summoning Charm. That was rather funny actually; Harry and I got in trouble for rolling around on the floor though. Ginny’s no fun when she’s on prefect duty.” I smiled. I heard someone coming up behind me, and then I saw that Harry stood next to me. “Ready to go?” he whispered. We nodded and walked away casually. As we left the protection of the bookshelves, I heard another pair of feet behind me. “Get ready to run,” I whispered. Looking over my shoulder, I saw Hermione jump behind a bookshelf. Harry, Ron and I got past the library shelf and heard Hermione call (quietly), “Where’re you going?” “Oh, you know, there’s always something else that’s fun to do outside of the library,” Ron responded. I looked over my shoulder and saw Hermione pull out her wand. “GO! GO! GO!” I yelled. Harry and Ron jumped into a run, and I caught up after dodging a spell. “NO RUNNING IN THE LIBRARY! AND BE QUIET!” the librarian yelled. We laughed at her hypocrisy and managed to make it out of the library without being hit by a spell. “GET BACK HERE, DEE!” “DON’T CALL ME THAT!” I yelled back as I ran. “I FINISHED MY WORK ANYWAYS!” “IT’S ALWAYS GOOD TO STUDY!” Hermione called back frantically. I looked over my shoulder and saw Hermione stopped once she was 10 feet from the library doors. She sent out one more spell, and I ducked just in time. Turning back, I saw I was headed into a head-on collision with the wall. “Oh crap...” I muttered, unable to stop. My body hit the wall full-force, and I flew backwards. My head hit the stone floor, and my surroundings began to dissolve into a disarray of black. |
but I thought vamps couldn't get hurt... cant wait to see how this is explained! PAMS!! PAMSOID!! XOXO, Tara |
