Draco paced about the common room. He'd no idea what to do. News of his decision had, well must have reached his Fathers ears by now. Fear coursed throughout his veins as panic flushed over his pale cheeks. He ran his hands through his hair, hoping his choice was right. It was...
The floor was beginning to feel spungy beneath his feet. He'd trodden on the same patches of carpet again and again and again and again. Nothing seemed to be right any more. The days after the time everybody had come clean in the office seemed like a blissful blur, everything was so perfect, so right, and now this.
His head seemed to throb with the rush of blood that had suddenly amounted and he sat down, the world suddenly spinning. He took in a deep shuddering breath, air rushing into his lungs like knives.
"Hello Draco." A voice he knew so well spilled from the silence about him and met his ears with the silken loathing he hated so much.
"Father," He replied, his voice stoic.
"Why?" Lucius asked his son. Why. How could he answer that? How could he tell the cold blooded monster that he was decended from that he had figured out what love was? That he was intoxicated in the presence of one he should despise, that he was completely taken over by everything about her? That for once, he needed someone else.
"Love." He answered blandly. Yes. This conversation was going so well. So speedily.
"Love?" His father repeated, well, it was a relief to know he had one non-murderous brain cell.
"Yes, Love."
"Draco, do not fool me."
"I'm not."
"You have fallen for a mudblood?" He asked furiously, his elder grey eyes sparking dangerously and his fingers clenching around his wand.
"No," He replied calmly, "I have fallen for a Hermione."
"You have failed me." Lucius spat. Draco nodded, love, was litterally, the death of him.
The room illuminated a stunning, emerald green, the life sucked out of the common room like the wind. To the floor he slumped, nothing left of the world he lived for, nothing left of the fire that had burnt inside of him.
Draco stood up. He stepped over his fathers remains and smiled slightly. He had fought for the one he loved.
