Chapter Sixty – Nine
Harry waited; his breath was still caught in his throat. The gavel slammed angrily on the wooden block and the shout came out from the ministers mouth “Cleared of all charges”.
He’d never smiled so much in his life. His hands were released and he jumped over the stand up to the gallery and straight to Ginny’s waiting arms.
“Lets go home” he whispered and she held on tighter only moving away slightly to kiss him and be spun around in his arms.
“Mr Malfoy” called Lady Flagstaff to the group, “I suggest you return to school tonight and do not worry about Miss O’Malley, I have a feeling she will be joining you in freedom by the end of the week”
Draco nodded and smiled “Thank you”
They stepped out of the court room greeted with the loudest most happy people they could have imagined waiting for them. They were mobbed by reporters all saying they were from the prophet and all vying for the exclusive until Harry spoke up.
“If there’s anything you want to know” he looked down to Ginny as she finished the sentence “It will be in the Quibbler and not the Prophet so don’t bother asking” she grinned.
They made there way through the people and to the reception.
“I’d like my wand back please” Said Harry and the guard looked at him smiled and then riffled under the desk for a box taking it out and then putting it on the side.
“Here you go Mr Potter, Holly, 11 inches Phoenix feather”
“Thanks” he grinned and headed to the fireplaces still holding on to Ginny before she changed her mind and spoke to him.
“Lets Apparate, I want to walk around the grounds a bit before we go back in if that’s alright with you professor?” She turned to McGonagall standing behind them,
“I believe that would be permitted under the circumstances and the fresh air might be beneficial for Miss Weasley, after seeing those pictures” she said looking disgusted at what the minister had done.
“I want to know who did that and why It wasn’t brought up before the trial or released in the prophet for them to try and prove what a mad man I am” Said Harry with Willow continuing
“That was information to do with the trial that Harry should have been informed of before hand”
“But this is Rufus Scrimgeour we’re talking about sweetheart” replied Caleb “He doesn’t do laws, rules and regulations he does anyone for anything they can pin on them” he sighed “Anyway on happier terms and before we head back to Nehelenia, didn’t you have something you want to ask Harry?” He said looking down at her angry face as it turned to a smile with the thoughts of her daughter
“Oh yes, erm, Harry we wanted to know if you’ll be her god father… we asked Ginny and she said yes but you weren’t there to ask…” her sentence trailed off and then picked itself up again “But yes we wanted to know if you would, it would mean so much if-”
“- Course I will” he grinned letting go of Ginny and hugging Willow before shaking Caleb’s hand.
“I’d better meet her properly like Ginny at some point” He said with a smile,
“I meant to tell you off for missing that, how did you – oh the link – I keep forgetting you to share a lot more then every other couple” she grinned “We’ll organise a trip to Hogsmeade, she has to visit her great granddad too” She smiled.
“We’ll owl you that and the wedding date” Caleb said with a grin.
“Thanks for all your support” Harry said taking Ginny’s hand and his wand again “See you later” he turned to Hermione and Ron “We’ll catch up with you before dinner – we have to have words yet” he looked down to Ginny’s smiling face nudging her shoulder gently with his own,
“He’ll come back with only a couple of bruises if he’s lucky” said Ginny and waved with her free hand as they apparated into the grounds.

Harry put down his cloak on the damp grass underneath the tree, the little amount of winter sunlight filtering through the branches as he sat down and she joined him. He wrapped his arm round her pulling her own cloak in tighter around her to keep her warm and conjured the small blue fire to a jar he’d found near the pumpkin patch.
“Are you warm enough?” he asked “If not we can go inside”
“I’m good” she smiled “Stop worrying about me, I’m trying to be angry with you”
“I thought the slap got that out of your system”
“Sorry about that” she shifted her gaze to the floor, and he lifted her chin up to his face with a finger
“Don’t be, I deserved it, I walked off instead of talking like we agreed, I was an idiot” he leant in and kissed her forehead, “A stupid idiot” he gave her nose a peck “Because I should have known not to leave you in the dark about what I was doing” he gave her lips the briefest of kisses.
“See now I just can’t be angry when you go and do something like that” she said and grinned so he replied with a smile,
“Then don’t be, just let me tell you what I did”
“I know you spoke to Draco, I heard that bit, and when you thought about me I could feel it. It was so weird seeing you up there with him and you weren’t fighting each other. I know what he said about Amy and being kept from someone you love, I’m just so glad that I’ve got you back I don’t care about the other things”
“That’s good to know” he held her a little closer “What day is it today?”
“New years eve”
“Already”
“Yes, Hermione mentioned something about a big party in the great hall, they didn’t organise it but helped the prefects do it. I didn’t think you’d want to go after everything”
“Oh I don’t know, I feel like celebrating being free”
“Well I thought we could celebrate with out the staring”
“Sounds like a dream come true, but it would be nice to see people again Gin”
“Yeh, I guess… people. Ok we can compromise, we can go but soon as that you get fed up your mine” she said poking his arm with her finger “So promise”
“I promise” he said laughing “I promise, I promise, I promise” he said before she pushed him down on his back and lay on top of him “Good” she smiled “Now where were we, ahh yes I was telling you off” she bent her head down to kiss him as his arms snaked round her waist.

Chapter Seventy
“Mr Malfoy, Miss Granger and Mr Weasley would you stay here please” said McGonagall as they arrived in her office through the fireplace “Mr Malfoy, you have missed a significant part of your schooling meaning that I would like you to stay on possibly until next year”
He nodded but Hermione spoke up
“If Harry, Ron and I tutored him, got him up to date with everything, could he sit his newts and graduate with us all?”
Draco turned to her in amazement “You would do that for me?”
“We’re giving you one last chance” she said unsmilingly “But if ‘mudblood’ passes your lips you can forget it”
“Never again – I’m a changed man – I just want to forget this all happened”
“You want me to trust him?” said Ron pulling away from Hermione,
“Yes, I think he’s proven himself today and he needs our help to regain his life” She replied,
“After everything he’s done, the names, the breaking in to kidnap Ginny, the making our school lives generally miserable when ever he could” He said not sure what she was doing.
“Our school lives haven’t exactly been fun filed with or without Draco, and Ginny’s forgiven him, so has Harry so will I. To rebuild our lives we have to forgive and forget” she replied,
“Quite rightly said Miss Granger” replied McGonagall to the surprise of Ron and Draco,
“Thanks Granger” Grinned Draco,
“You’re welcome Malfoy – but just call me Hermione from now on”
“Have you gone nuts Hermione?” said Ron,
“Maybe I am for trusting him, but think about it Ron, he helped Harry up there today”
Ron sighed “You get one chance, you blow it and I’ll make sure not even you’re girlfriend will want you”
“Ron!” said Hermione looking at him outraged,
“I’m joking!” he said with a grin “But really one chance and if you do stuff up, well you’ll be here another year”
McGonagall smiled “Think yourself luck Mr Malfoy, because it probably won’t be offered again”
“I’ll do it, of course I will, but can Amy too, she was homeschooled but she’s nearly as good as Gra - Hermione” he said correcting himself.
“I think we can sort something out – for now Mr Malfoy you will belong to no house, and you will sleep in the guest quarters, Mr Potter and Miss Weasley’s belongings have been returned to there dorms so I will ask my head students to escort you to your quarters and if they could provide you with some sort of clothing for this evenings celebrations well we sort out bringing your own belongings from home”
Hermione nodded “I think we can do that Professor” she said looking him up and down, they’d put him in a clean set of robes for the trial, let him run a comb through his hair and have a wash like they did everyday but he still looked like a prisoner.

Harry stood at the bottom of the stairs calling up “Hurry up Gin!”
But there was no reply apart from Draco lounging on the couch opposite from Ron “There girls if it takes this long to get ready its normal”
But Harry’s thinking was the sooner they got to this party the faster they could get out. He’d been thinking and although seeing his friends would be fun, it would be there first appearance in school for about a week and he wanted to be left without the hassle.
“Draco’s right for once” said Ron “Just sit down”
Harry glanced at his watch, the procession in to the hall had started, by the time they got there they’d be going in with the rest of there year hopefully, otherwise it would be with Filch and Madam Pince at the end of the line. “I want to get in there before we end up as the last ones and then there’s more unwanted attention”
Ron and Draco stood up “Hurry up” they shouted up the stairs laughing and handing Harry a butterbeer.

Ginny stood in front of the mirror examining her reflection,
“You sure this looks ok?”
“Yes now let’s go, that’s the fifth time he’s called up there for you”
“He can wait, he’ll forget about it soon as he sees me anyway” she said turning round with a grin “if that is what you think of this dress is true?”
“For the hundredth time Gin, you look flipping gorgeous now can we go!” She laughed standing up; making the final adjustments to her hair and opening the door
“You look fabulous to don’t forget”
“Out now” She grinned as Ginny put her hands on her hips and pouted.
“Please” she added and Ginny laughed
“I’m coming” she grabbed her wand putting it into the small black clutch fitted with an enlargement charm, and linked her arm in Hermione’s “Lets make them think its worth the wait – make an entrance” she giggled as Hermione smiled and they walked down the staircase.
She looked at Harry’s face with a cheeky smile, it was completely different to when she wore the dress at the Christmas party and she knew he wasn’t going to want to waste time at the party.
Hermione looked to Ron. He blinked, gaped and then jumped up of the couch to meet them at the bottom of the stairs standing next to Harry.
“You look…” said Harry speechless as he held out his arm to her “You look amazing” he grinned to her “You both do” he laughed turning to Ron who’s ears had gone red but he still couldn’t speak. Hermione just linked Ron’s arm with hers and laughed, as Draco looked at the four of them with a grin, saying “Let’s go”

They entered the hallway to see the masses of students done up in there party clothes and the music playing in the great hall filtering out. The teachers had all gone in but McGonagall was waiting for her head boy and girl.
“Miss Granger, Mr Weasley – right on time” she smiled “In we go” Hermione pulled him along, he still hadn’t said a word and they were followed by the prefects in there house pairings. Then everyone entered by there year group and last but not least Harry and Ginny snuck in beside Neville with an excited looking Angela and Luna with Dean as Draco was latched onto by Ginny’s friends , Emily, Spence, Kate, and Tisha. Ginny spotted Tori in the crowd, along with Maria dancing rather crazily by herself until Luna, Angela and Neville joined her. A speech was made, the music starting again and all danced until the time was announced. It was a minute to midnight. Harry smiled looking down at Ginny as they danced,
“You know I love you Gin” he grinned
“I know that” she laughed reaching up to kiss him briefly,
“Isn’t that supposed to wait till we hit New Year” he grinned,
“I’m a little over eager” her hands at his neck brushed over his skin and into the bottom of his hair, playing with a few strands with her finger tips.
“I love you even more when you’re over eager” He said and smiled leaning down to kiss her
“Oi cut it out you two” said Ron with a smile
“What... This?” said Ginny smiling as she pulled down Harry’s head towards her and kissed him again lingering deliberately to annoy Ron.
“Yeh that! It’s gross!”
“Come off it Ron” laughed Harry “Just kiss Hermione in front of all these people-”
“- and we might consider being more inconspicuous” finished Ginny,
“No” said Ron before turning to Hermione to explain what he meant but she just laughed “Come here you idiot” And she kissed him before he could say a single word. A cheer went up from the students and teachers alike as balloons fell from the ceiling and couples kissed to bring in the New Year
