It had been a week since Harry left. They haven’t heard from him at all; no letters, no contact, no anything. The whole house has been gray and gloomy. Even the twins weren’t cracking jokes. They just walked around the house, not doing much. Charlie was the only one who wasn’t wearing a depressed look upon his face. He kept on telling his mother not to worry about Harry, and Harry had wanted her to know that. He had been through so much to not return. With all the things he had done over the past seven years, Charlie was positive he would come back safely. He was the only one who had faith in Harry’s return.
Ron has been quiet the entire week, not talking to anybody. The only person who could get at least a few words out of him, was Hermione. She for the past week has tried to hold up a strong front but everybody knew she took Harry’s departure hard. The only time a smile was every visible on her face, was when she was in the presences of Ron. Ginny, like her brother, hadn’t been real talkative to anybody. She only spoke when she had to, unlike Ron who didn’t even respond.
The day the three stood outside, getting ready to go back to Hogwarts, the atmosphere was almost suffocating. Mrs. Weasley held onto the three of them until her husband had to pull her away gently.
“You three be good. Be careful and…and tell me if you hear from…” Mrs. Weasley’s eyes swam with tears and George put his arm around his mother’s neck.
“Like mum said, you three be good. Or me and Fred are just going to have to come down there ourselves.” George teased.
A small smile escaped off of Ginny’s face as they climbed onto the purple triple-decker bus. She sat down in an empty seat up front and Ron and Hermione were taking to the second deck, where it was empty.
As the bus lurched to a start Hermione caught unawares, shot forward. Ron caught her around the waist and gently pulled her back into her seat.
“Thanks.” She said.
“Sure.” Ron replied, looking out the window.
“You ok?” she asked slowly.
Ron turned his head to look back at her. “We should be with him right now. Not on this dumb bus.”
“I know. But what can we do?”
Ron sighed and looked back out the window. “What if he doesn’t come back?”
“He will. He always does.” Hermione said taking his hand. He looked down at her hand, and then his eyes rested on hers. She gave him a reassuring smile and a gently squeezed his hand.
“As long as we believe, he will come back, he will.” She said. Ron let a defeated smile break away from his face, and he squeezed her hand.
As day turned into night, Hermione’s head was seen on Ron’s shoulder, sound asleep. Her hand still entangled in Ron’s.

As the knight bus called to a stop, Ginny picked up her bag and climbed off. First person she saw was Draco. A big smile slipped onto Ginny’s face as she walked over to him.
“There’s my girl.” He said, wrapping her in a tight hug. Ginny closed her eyes and snuggled into his chest. When she opened her eyes, she saw her brother shooting daggers at them. She ignored him and smiled up at Draco.
“How was your break?” she asked.
“It was awful because I couldn’t be with you.” He said taking her bag. Her stomach flipped as he kissed her cheek. “How was yours?”
“Not bad.” She replied.
“But not good?” he asked.
“My mom was all depressed towards the end because Harry left.”
“He left?”
“Yeah.”
“Why did he leave?”
“I don’t know. He went somewhere with Ron and Hermione the night of Bill’s wedding and I guess something freaked him out. He left the next morning before anybody was awake.”
“Where did he go?”
Ginny looked over at him, and raised an eyebrow at him. “Why so interested in Harry?”
“I was just wondering. You seem worried about him. That’s all.” He said quickly.
“I’m not. He’s a big boy.” Ginny said laying her head on his shoulder.
Was it that noticeable that she was worried about him? She hoped Draco didn’t notice. She didn’t want him to think she still had feelings for Harry. Which she didn’t. Right?

That night, as Ginny slept in her warm bed, she had a dream…
Ginny stood on top of a hill looking down at two people down below. One was on their knees; the other had his wand pointed to the one on his knees.
“Its all your fault she’s dead. Its all your fault they are all dead. Its all your fault you’re all alone!”
“NO!”
”YES!”
The image disappeared and another took its place…
Ginny was standing by herself, waiting for something to happen. Suddenly a shadow popped out of the trees. She jumped and pulled her out her wand.
The shadow stopped and looked at her, waiting for her to do something.
“Who are you?” she asked the shadow.
The shadow said nothing but ran away from her at full speed.
“Wait! Who are you?” she called. She began to chase after him, but the shadow was to fast for her and he soon lost her. Ginny stopped to take a breath and saw something on the ground. She walked over and picked it up. A green colored, snakeskin, scarf lay forgotten on the path. Ginny looked down at it, then looked after the shadow.
This dream also turned into another…
”Ginny.” A voice called.
She looked around to see who had called her, but only saw trees all around her.
“Ginny.” The voice called again.
She turned sharply and saw somebody walking toward her. But unlike the shadow from her other dream, that made her alert and cautious, this shadow made all the nerves in her body disappear. The person’s face was in complete shadow, but she didn’t feel scared of the mysterious person.
The shadow stopped a few feet away from her. A soft maroon color glowed off the shadow’s body. But the glow wasn’t light enough for her to see his face.
As the shadow stood staring at her, he said her name again.
“Ginny…”
“Who are you?” she asked with curiosity.
“Don’t leave him all alone.” Was all the shadow said.

It’s been almost two and half months since anybody has seen Harry and Ginny had those dreams. The dreams were always on her mind now. Who was the first shadow? Why did she feel bad vibes from that one? She though a lot about the last dream also. It had left her feeling warm and safe. But who was he? What did his words mean? ”Don’t leave him alone…” Leave who alone? Why did they keep calling her name? What were they talking about?
Ginny no longer wore a cheerful smile on her rosy face, as she walked up the school halls everyday. Her usual vibrant eyes were now dull and sorrowful. Draco was also beginning to notice.
“Ginny?” he said to her one day.
“Hmm?” she mumbled, turning to him. They were both sitting in the library looking up potion ingredients.
“Your book is upside down.” He said. She looked down and saw that he was right. She flipped it the correct way and let out a fake laugh.
“Yeah I guess it was.”
“Are you ok, babe? Every since you’ve come back from winter break you have been really distant.”
“I have?”
“Very.”
”I’m sorry Draco. A lot has been on my mind lately.” She said, not looking straight at him.
“Have you heard from Potter?”
She looked up at him and saw that he was watching her closely.
“No I haven’t.” she replied truthfully. Nobody has. Even Ron and Hermione hadn’t gotten a single letter from him. She knew they hadn’t because whenever somebody ever mentioned his name, Ron would get angry and usually tell the kid off and Hermione would get deathly quiet. A few times Ginny had seen her eyes get watery at the sound of his name.
“You miss him.”
“No I don’t.” Ginny retorted, taken by surprise.
“Don’t lie to me, Gin.”
Ginny said nothing as a wave of emotions hit her. Harry use to always call her Gin. She looked back down at her book, avoiding Draco’s eye. Where was he? Why did he think he had to do this alone? Why was he so ignorant? She wished he would at least write to show he was ok. She really didn’t read in the Daily Prophet that Harry Potter was dead.
Her professors were beginning to notice Ginny’s distant mind also. She usually sat in Transfiguration, thinking, and wondering where Harry was now. But unluckily, McGonagall caught her one day.
“Miss Weasley. What is the proper way to hold your wand for transfiguring milk into a pastry?” she asked, eyeing Ginny with a stern look.
“Um…tightly?” Ginny guessed.
“No the correct answer was loosely. Nice try. You have been daydreaming in my class all week. Maybe detention tonight with me will bring you out of your daze.” McGonagall said.
“Yes professor.” Ginny sighed.
“Tonight at eight sharp.” She said.
“Yes professor.”

Another post for you all! Chapter 40
“You got detention?” Draco asked as Ginny made her way toward McGonagall’s classroom.
“Yes Draco. And you didn’t have to come.” Ginny said a little agitatedly.
“I wanted to come.” He smiled over at her. Ginny was so out of it she didn’t even smile back.
“Do you want me to come back and pick you up after its over?” he asked.
“It’s fine. It is probably going to be a late by the time it’s over anyways.” Ginny replied.
“I don’t mind.”
“Really. It’s ok.” Ginny said and kissed him on the cheek before entering the classroom.
McGonagall was sitting at her desk, a quill in her hand and a look of exhaustion on her face. Ginny made her way toward the desk slowly. When she reached it, McGonagall looked up from the paper she was grading and motioned for Ginny to take a seat.
“Well Miss Weasley, I’m glad you stopped daydreaming long enough to make it to your detention on time.” McGonagall said harshly.
Ginny didn’t know what to say, so she just stood quietly.
“For your detention you are going to be doing lines. “ I will pay attention in Transfiguration class and not daydream my way through life.” Do you understand?”
“Yes professor. Um, how many do I have to write?” Ginny asked tentatively.
“Until I say.” McGonagall replied and began grading papers once again.
Ginny took a quill and a piece of parchment from her bag and began her lines.
As minutes went by and turned into hours, she felt a sharp pain in her right wrist. She stopped on the word “class” and rubbed it with her left hand. She then looked towards the window as she heard a soft clicking noise.
Barely visible, sat a snowy white owl. Could it be? No. She was getting her hopes up.
She wanted to sprint toward the window and let the owl in, but the bird had already taken flight. Her heart began beating faster as she looked back at McGonagall. She had seen the owl too. The aging woman turned her head back to Ginny and raised an eyebrow.
“Come up here Miss Weasley.” She said. Ginny did as she was told and stood.
McGonagall let out a sigh and took off her glasses. After a second of rubbing her over worked eyes, she set them back onto her face. “I’m going to ask you a question and I would like to hear the truth.” She said slowly.
Ginny didn’t say anything but waited for her to continue.
“Have you heard from Harry at all?” McGonagall finally asked.
Ginny was thrown off guard. “No professor.” She said quietly. McGonagall studied her for a minute, and then let out another sigh.
“Very well. You may go. Oh and at least “ pretend” you are paying attention in my class for now on.” She said, giving her the tiniest of smiles.
Ginny let out a chuckle and said, “Thank you professor.” She then picked up her bag and walked out the classroom.
It was past ten o’clock as she walked down the deserted corridor. Her shoes made a light thumping sound, walking back toward the common room.
Turning the corner, she suddenly stopped. Ginny could have sworn she heard footsteps walking toward her. A look of confusion crossed her face, as she looked both ways for any sign of anybody. But the corridor was empty. Figuring it was just her imagination, she kept walking.
When she got to the middle of the hall, she stopped again. She knew somebody was watching her. She wasn’t just being paranoid. She could feel it. The footsteps were heard again when she had begun walking again. The footsteps were walking away from her. But they had stopped when she had stopped.
A few steps away from where she stood, something was seen on the ground. Backtracking, she went over and picked it up.
It was a map of the school. Her name was written in curly, red ink, over a black dot. And a few feet from her dot, was another black dot. This one read “Harry Potter.”
