Hogwarts RPG Name: Callisto Maven | Chapter 16 And more...a loonngg chapter for my luffly readers. ~*~*~
Professor McGonagall returned to Hogwarts the next evening, to my astonishment and glee. Ron and I hurried to her office when she requested our audience.
Panting, we arrived in the circular office. Two chairs were positioned in front of her desk, and she motioned us to sit. When we were situated, she told us, “I’ve come in contact with Harry.”
“Really?” My hands gripped the sides of my chair, and I saw Ron leaning forward as well. “Is he alright?”
The Headmistress smiled. “Yes, as fine as would be expected. He has destroyed a horcrux, and wanted to pass some information to you and Ron. He told me that he suspects another horcrux: Rowena Ravenclaw’s wand.”
“Why, that’s in Hogwarts!” I exclaimed, heart palpitating. “I’m sure of it.”
Sitting up straighter, Professor McGonagall said, “Then I trust you will bring it to me immediately, Miss Granger. It’s crucial that we locate it as soon as possible.”
“Yes, Professor,” I complied. “Is that all you wanted to talk to Ron and me about?”
She nodded. “You may go now.”
After dinner it wasn’t hard to find Luna, who was on her way to the Ravenclaw tower. “Luna!” I called after her. She turned around blearily, spotted me, and smiled.
“What’s the rush, Hermione?” she asked.
“Do you still have Ravenclaw’s wand?” I asked her quietly but urgently.
“Of course. It’s in my dormitory,” she informed me. “Why do you ask?”
“I know this is an odd request, but may I have it? Harry needs it.” I lowered my voice: “It’s a crucial part of making sure Voldemort is destroyed for good.”
Her round eyes widened more than I ever thought they could. “Will I get it back?” she asked in a hushed voice.
“I—I don’t know,” I stammered. “But it will be worth it, won’t it? I’m sorry about this, really. But I hope you have more than one reason to trust me with it.”
She nodded. “Yes, I will let you have it. I trust you, Hermione Granger.”
“Thank you so much, Luna. It means a lot to—well, it will mean life and death to the wizarding community.”
We arrived at Ravenclaw tower’s entrance (guarded by a portrait of a wise-looking wizard) and Luna said clearly, “Alabaster,” and the portrait hole opened.
“Give me a second to get it,” she said, drifting to the left to a flight of stairs, which must have lead to the girls’ dormitories.
I took this opportunity to look around at the Ravenclaw decorations. A fire was blazing in the far wall. Navy sofas and armchairs surrounded it. There were more study tables in this common room than in the Gryffindor one, I noted with envy. There were also a couple of packed bookshelves. I was about to study the titles of them when Luna descended serenely, holding the wand in both hands.
“Here it is; take care of it,” she said, giving it a kiss before handing it to me. “After all, it was what my mum was experimenting with; that’s how she died.”
Luna would never fail to surprise me. “I’m sorry,” I told her. She waved it off.
“Thank you again, Luna,” I said gratefully, pocketing the wand. I noticed the sky darkening outside the windows. “I should be leaving now.”
She nodded and floated away towards the bookshelves. I walked through the portrait hole and made my way towards the Headmistress’ office.
On my way to Professor McGonagall’s office, I was delayed. Extremely delayed. I should have foreseen it.
I had barely registered what was happening when Draco tapped on my shoulder and beckoned me towards him. Already the torches along the walls were lit, except for where he had hidden in a deserted nook.
His frigid breath rustled my hair as he cornered me into the wall, his body brushing mine. “I knew you’d come, Hermione,” he purred.
“What made you think I came to find you?” I asked, though his being here made my stomach flip over.
He just smiled, pushing me harder against the stone wall. I knew I was losing it. He was going to kiss me, then where would I be? In a total emotional wreck.
“Hopefully you don’t have any pressing matters to attend to,” Draco murmured, sneering. “Not that I would care either way.” His head leaned down towards me, his mouth slightly open. His arms wrapped around me tightly, almost suffocating me.
“Why are you doing this?” I asked abruptly before his lips touched mine.
His tongue felt my bottom lip where he had bitten me yesterday. “Isn’t it obvious?” His voice sounded husky all of a sudden. Hands were roaming my robes.
“You’re using me,” I stated, turning my face away from him. That had to be the truth. Why else would he be hounding me, a Mudblood?
Draco didn’t reply. He just turned my face towards his and kissed me again. “Who cares, as long as we’re both having fun?”
I tried to push him off me. “This is what you call fun?”
He looked perplexed. “What else would you call fun? You have to admit that this is fun, Hermione.”
My gaze couldn’t meet his; yes, it satisfied my thirst for—what was it, exactly? I had abandoned the attempt to discover what it was. But I couldn’t help but noticed how progressively besmirched I had become with each passing day.
“I’ve got to go,” I told him, sliding out from the sandwich of Draco and the wall.
“Of course,” he drawled, leaning against the wall with his shoulder.
Turning around, I demanded, “What’s that supposed to mean?”
He inspected his nail. “You’re always going here, going there. Always running from something.”
My eyes narrowed. “Are you calling me a coward?”
He only smiled. “I’ll be waiting for you here if you need me, Hermione.”
Thoroughly disconcerted, I made my way to McGonagall’s office. At the gargoyles, I reached into my pocket for Ravenclaw’s wand.
It wasn’t there. And there was only one person who could have taken it.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Callisto Maven | Chapter 17 Hee hee, I'm posting more, to catch up for lost time. Ha ha, I think we all love him still.
Here is more of the chapter. Keep in mind that this was all written before the release of DH: ~*~*~
Retracing my steps back to the nook where Draco and I had recently met, I couldn’t believe my stupidity. He had taken it. Of course that was his intent all along. He knew it was here from the start.
“Malfoy! Malfoy?” He had to be here.
A door that I hadn’t noticed hung ajar. He must have gone inside. Drawing my wand (thankfully he hadn’t taken that as well), I proceeded through the hole. I would catch him, no doubt. Anger replaced hurt that I felt about how he had deceived me so easily.
All was dark. I could hear water dripping, the sound echoing off the dank walls. My breathing was shallow. An icy hand gripped my forearm, making me scream and recoil. I didn’t really scream, though; no sound came out.
There was a flash of light and I found my arms bound with thick rope. “Hush up, Granger,” Malfoy’s voice hissed in my ear. His grip was harder than I ever remembered; it drew blood.
I screamed and kicked him, but he held on tightly. “Don’t do this, Hermione,” he whispered urgently. He took my wand from my grasp and put it into my robe pocket.
“Don’t you ‘Hermione’ me,” I growled, preparing to scream again, but his hand covered my mouth. He led me deeper into the tunnel; now there were torches lining the walls.
“The Dark Lord is not going to be happy. If you have any sense in you, listen to me,” Malfoy pleaded.
I snorted. Listen to him? That’s the last thing I would do.
“Drink this.” He revealed a small phial with sparkling red liquid in it. “Please.”
“I’m not stupid,” I told him, shying away from the drink. But I stopped and looked at his face. There was something in it—it was genuine. He wasn’t fooling me. My eyes flitted to the phial. Nothing I had read matched up with its description. “You’re telling the truth, aren’t you?” My eyes searched his, and he nodded ever so slightly.
Footsteps. Footsteps were coming toward us. Malfoy’s fingers were cold against me. “Drink,” he whispered in the corner of his mouth.
I seized the phial from him and tipped it into my mouth. It felt very warm as it slid down my throat. Draco nodded and thrust the phial back into his robe pockets.
And he came. Lord Voldemort. He was holding Ravenclaw’s wand in one hand and his own in the other. His eyes narrowed when he caught sight of me. An icy feeling filled my chest.
“You brought her, finally. It took you long enough, Malfoy,” he hissed in his high, cold voice.
“I’m sorry, Master,” Malfoy apologized, bowing. His voice was trembling.
“One would have thought that after I killed the Lovegood fool, knowing that he would give Ravenclaw’s wand to his daughter, you would have been able to retrieve everything faster than it has taken you,” Voldemort spat. He turned to me. “I only have one question for you, Miss Granger: where is Harry Potter?”
I was paralyzed with fear. “I—I don’t know,” I stammered. Instinctively, I drew out my wand, renewed with a bit of courage.
Voldemort laughed at my actions, and I nearly flew backwards with the force of his next step—prying my mind. When he released me, I fell in a crumpled heap to the floor. Draco reached down to help me up.
“Don’t.” Voldemort was fiddling with his wand now. “Don’t help her, Malfoy. I want her at my feet before I kill her.”
“Master—“
“ Avada Kedavra!”
I just remember a flash of green light, then darkness.
~
“Is she all right?” whispered one voice.
“Will she pull through?” demanded another.
“I don’t understand how—“ a puzzled voice said.
“You say you found her by your office, Headmistress?” a gentle voice prodded.
I awoke to Ginny, Ron, Professor McGonagall, and Madam Pomfrey hovering over my bed.
“She’s come through!” Ginny exclaimed, hugging me feverishly.
“Now, now, please!” the nurse shrieked, prying Ginny off me. “We need to give her rest.”
I grabbed my head, moaning. Why was I still alive? Then I remembered the potion Draco had given me. That must have been it. I would have to look it up in the library.
“Thank God you’re all right,” Professor McGonagall sighed, peering down at me with her spectacled eyes. “When I found you lying outside my office, I was almost sure—“
“Hermione, you’ve got a lot of explaining to do,” Ron told me, though he smiled.
I smiled back and began to say something, but Madam Pomfrey interrupted me. “You need rest. That’s the best remedy right now. Please, everyone, leave. She will be here tomorrow for you to visit.” Shaking her head, she drew the curtains around me and I fell back asleep.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Callisto Maven | Chapter 18 And more. This is the second last chapter: ~*~*~
Ron and Ginny visited me the next day; I was feeling much better, though my body felt frail, almost as if I were to stand up, I would break into a million pieces. Or maybe that was just my heart.
“Now you can tell us what happened,” Ron said, leaning forward eagerly. “We’ll tell McGonagall what you said, so she knows about it too.”
I recounted what happened, minus everything that had gone on between Draco and myself. I merely told them that Draco had dragged me into a hidden passageway, where Lord Voldemort had questioned me and hit me with a spell.
“What spell was it?” Ginny asked.
“What’s Malfoy doing here?” Ron inquired.
I ignored Ginny’s question; I did not want to bring up Draco giving me a potion that had saved my life. Instead I answered Ron’s question. “I have thought it over, and I think it was to get the horcrux for Voldemort.” I lowered my voice when I said this.
“Blimey,” Ron whispered, ogling at me. “And now Voldemort has it?”
I nodded mournfully.
“But how did you end up outside Professor McGonagall’s office if you were clearly knocked out in the tunnel?” Ginny asked, her eyebrows contracting.
I paused, thinking of a plausible explanation. I suspected that Draco had dropped me off there, but of course I couldn’t tell Ginny that.
“Time for sleep, Miss Granger,” Madam Pomfrey advised, saving me without knowing it.
I readily burrowed under my covers. “I’ll see you two tomorrow, all right?” I said to the two Weasleys. They nodded and stood up to leave.
“Ron!” I called, remembering something. He paused; his hand was hovering above the doorknob.
“Yeah?”
“When you visit tomorrow, can you get me Moste Potente Potions?” I asked.
He cocked his eyebrow at me. “You would’ve thought that if you were sick you wouldn’t want to be reading up on potions—but then again, you’re Hermione Granger, so I guess logically that makes sense.”
“Thanks, Ron,” I said, smiling.
He grinned back and shut the door quietly behind him.
~
I slept the whole next day through. I dreamed again, though this time, I was not quite sure if it was a dream.
It was nighttime, and Draco had emerged once more. His pale hair was reflecting the moon’s rays that were streaming down from the high windows of the Hospital Wing.
“You’re better, right?” he asked huskily and quite forcefully; it seemed that he didn’t have experience saying things tenderly. When I nodded, he smiled—well, it was half a smile, half a smirk, as usual. “I knew you’d come around.”
Bending down, he gently kissed me, making my heart want to burst from my chest. I didn’t know what to think. He had used me to take the horcrux, but he had saved my life. He stared at me with his clear grey eyes. “I gave the horcrux to McGongall. Don’t ask me how I did it without Voldemort or McGonagall knowing, but I did. Nevertheless, they’re coming for me. It won’t be long.” Pressing the emerald piece of ribbon into my hand, he explained, “I fetched it from your dormitory. Keep it, will you?”
I didn’t say anything.
Then the double doors of the Hospital Wing burst open, making me start in bed. Professor McGonagall and many members of the Order along with Ministry aurors burst in. “There he is!” the Headmistress announced, advancing upon him.
“Finally caught me, have you?” Draco drawled. He stayed calm, but I could feel the panic emanating from him.
“It’s straight to Azkaban for you,” Moody growled, taking a hold of Draco and binding ropes around him with a quick spell.
Draco’s face contorted. “You can’t do that! I demand a fair trial. You can’t prove anything, Mad-Eye.”
Moody peered at Draco fiercely with his electric blue eye.
“I have information,” Draco continued hastily. “Please, I trial. I need a trial.”
Kingsley Shacklebolt was staring hard at Draco. “Mr. Malfoy, you do know that is partly up to the Ministry whether you have a trial or not. You may organize some defence if you feel it is crucial.” Moody glared at him, but Shacklebolt continued. “Should we deem you worthy of a trial, we will give it.”
I opened my eyes a crack and saw Draco as they dragged him away. His eyes were pleading me, almost saying, “Don’t leave me there. Help me.”
Biting my lip, I merely watched them carting him away. My mind was too muddled to do anything about it.
When I awoke the next morning, the book Moste Potente Potions was on my bedside table and a green ribbon was clasped in my hand.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Callisto Maven | Chapter 19 Maybe, because I know it's on devART.
Heh heh...it ish here, the last chapter! ~*~*~
The Ministry was a mass of bustling wizards and witches, all sorting out their issues in their departments. Whirring and buzzing was heard everywhere I went. I had to get to that hearing. There I would be able to say my thanks to Draco for saving my life. But I was still torn. Was I a traitor?
“Excuse me, where is the interrogation room for Draco Malfoy?” I asked a witch who was heading in my direction.
“Down the hall, to the left,” she answered, eyeing me suspiciously.
“Thank you.” I rushed down the hall and at the first left I turned. The stone-walled room met my eyes and inside, the top of a blonde head could only belong to one person. Two wizards were guarding the room.
Peering over to through the barred window, I saw a wizard interrogating Draco, though I couldn’t hear a word of it; there was indeed a spell put around the surroundings so no one would hear the conversation of the people inside the interrogation room--that was just as I predicted. It must have been part of the process, to somehow dissuade him before the actual hearing.
I knocked. “Excuse me, Miss, you cannot do that,” one of the guards informed me, reaching for his wand.
“I’m here on special business with Draco Malfoy. I will only be a short while,” I told them, jaw set. I flashed them a card of authorization that I had procured from Mr. Weasley.
As if on cue, the wizard who was interrogating Draco came out. I proceeded into the room and clicked the door behind me.
Draco nearly jumped when he saw me. “What are you doing here?” he asked, taking a step towards me. There were thin, silver ropes wrapped tightly around his wrists, ensuring that he stayed in close vicinity to the wall behind him.
“I came to…to thank you,” I stammered, lifting my eyes to meet his. “Thank you for giving me the Potion de Vida. I would have never expected you to.”
“I do still have the ability to surprise, Granger,” Draco whispered, smirking. How he managed to look calm and collected with ropes tied around him was beyond me.
“But why did you do it?” I whispered, my lips dry. “Surely—“
“I knew Voldemort wasn’t going to win,” Draco replied. “And your life wasn’t worth it,” he added almost painfully. A flush was rising to his pale cheeks.
I was flattered, because I knew he spoke genuinely, but that did not allow me to overlook what he had also mentioned. “So, you did it just to be on the winning side?” I interrogated, giving him an accusatory glare. Perhaps he’d never harbored feelings for me after all.
Gritting his teeth, he gnashed, “I’m a coward, okay? There, I said it. Happy, Granger?” His fingers twisted through his fair-coloured hair, which was as far as they could reach.
“Not entirely,” I answered, sighing.
“And don’t bother coming to my hearing,” Dra—Malfoy muttered. “I’m going to Azkaban anyways.”
I placed a hand on his cold arm, but he recoiled. “There’s a chance—“
“No, there isn’t,” he growled. He knew it as well as I. Drawing closer to me so I could count his pale eyelashes, he whispered hoarsely, “Don’t give me false hope, Granger. You seem to do that a lot to me, but right now is not the time.”
A moment passed where I couldn’t speak and neither could he. For a moment I thought he was going to kiss me, but he didn’t. And for a moment I felt myself wanting to…but I didn’t.
I hesitated, but placed my fingertips on his jaw. So cold. His grey eyes stared pointedly at me; the look on his face was of one who had given up the fight, who had known that this was the result all along, but had refused to believe it until it hit him.
Pursing my lips, I stepped away from him. “Well, bye, Malfoy.” I walked to the door to leave.
“See you around, Granger,” he said.
Eyebrows raised, I turned back to him. And what did he mean by that?
He said nothing more, but if not for the hint of a smirk still lingering upon his handsome face, I would have believed him. fin

you should write another ff after the persuit of sappyness. I'm glad you did read to the end, though. I appreciate it. Yeahh, he could've, but that's what makes the ending even sadder.
If I get another FF idea, I will definitely put it on SS! Ha ha ha...and I have a feeling 'The Pursuit of Sappyness' will be better written than this one. Quote:
