Katie Thanks! Well, here's a chapter you may like, then... ~*~*~
He was in his brooding mood—again. Ron and I couldn’t even attempt to reach him when he was in his stupors, walking around like an inferi, as Ron claimed.
“Let’s get something to eat, how about that, Harry?” Ron suggested. His stomach let out a rumble.
“I’m not hungry,” Harry muttered irritably.
“You said that yesterday,” I claimed, observing his mood like a bomb ready to go off any second. His wiry frame was even thinner than usual. “Please, Harry,” I pleaded, placing a hand on his arm. My stomach was churning as well.
Ron exhaled loudly, blowing up his red fringe. “How about you go, ‘Mione, and bring us something from the Great Hall? Maybe Harry will get his appetite back by the time you’re back.”
I didn’t see any other solution, so I agreed. “I’ll be back as soon as I can,” I promised, trying not to look worried as I met Harry’s eyes. He only sank into a sofa behind him.
My footsteps sounded lonely in the deserted corridor. Everyone else was in the Great Hall enjoying breakfast, I presumed. Then I heard something whisper my name.
Stopping, I drew out my wand. Nothing.
“Just a figment of my imagination,” I told myself, descending the stairs.
But I heard it again when I reached the base of the stairs. It was louder this time. But no one was there. Willing my pulse to return to its normal rate, I grasped my wand more tightly and strode forwards briskly.
“Granger—are you deaf or something?” a cold voice taunted from a dark corner. I recognized that tone only too well. My blood ran cold as I turned around to face the speaker.
Draco Malfoy leaned lazily against a pillar, almost engulfed in darkness where he stood. “Long time no see, Granger,” he drawled quietly.
I raised my wand. “Don’t come near me, Malfoy,” I warned, voice shaking and very high-pitched.
“Or what?” he sneered. “ Expelliarmus!”
My wand shot from my grip. Malfoy smiled broadly at me as he caught the wand in his open hand. “Good thing you’re so good at quick thinking, Granger,” he jeered.
Gritting my jaw, I ordered, “Give that to me right now, Malfoy.”
“As if,” he retorted coolly, pocketing it and smirking.
Lifting my chin defiantly, I marched away.
“What are you doing? Get back here!” Malfoy hissed, loud enough only for me to hear.
“Since when did you start giving me orders?” I shot back at him, continuing.
But I felt a physical pull on my robes, dragging me backwards. I fought against the force, but all efforts were in vain. It was as though an invisible string were tied to my back with Malfoy as the puppet master.
I stopped with a thump of fabric on fabric. I was drawn up against him and could feel Malfoy’s cold breath in my ear. “Much better, Mudblood,” he whispered.
“Let go of me!” I struggled against his pale arms.
“Relax, Granger,” he purred.
For an instant, I felt the strength draw out of my body. This was not ordinary magic. Malfoy was using Dark magic. Or if it wasn’t Dark magic, it was something I could not recognize.
Gathering my wits about me, I managed to say, “What do you want, Malfoy?”
“I’m not entitled to let you know about my personal business,” he snarled. “But I want to tell you, Mudblood, that if I hear you breathing a word to anyone…” Slightly he loosened his grip on me.
Scoffing, I said, “As much as you like to think, Malfoy, you can’t be everywhere at once.”
“I have my ways of getting around,” he replied smoothly, and I could feel his grasp lessen more. It was my chance to escape.
In one swift motion I snatched my wand from his pocket and broke from his arms. To my surprise, he didn’t make a grab for me. Instead, he laughed quietly.
“Just remember, Fenrir is a pal of mine, and your parents won’t be hard if I hear a hint of you telling anyone of my whereabouts,” he called after me as I sprinted down the hallway.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Callisto Maven | Chapter 6 The next chapter!
~*~*~
His last words echoed in my ears. My mind flickered back to the time when Harry, Ron, and I had been spying on him in Borgin and Burke’s. A shiver swept through my body. I had no doubt in my mind that Malfoy would be true to his word.
I ran. I ran down the flights of stairs to the Great Hall. For a moment, I forgot what I was thinking about. The chatter of students met my ears and I dashed in, looking above everyone’s heads for Professor McGonagall. I have to tell someone.
She was sitting at the staff table, talking in a low voice to Professor Flitwick. There were large bags under her eyes and I felt a pang inside my chest.
Catching my eye, she gave me a questioning gaze. I hesitated, not knowing if I should interrupt. Opening my mouth, I started to tell her, but closed my mouth before any sound came out. I remembered what Malfoy had said.
“Is anything wrong, Miss Granger?” Professor McGonagall inquired.
Not able to speak, I shook my head and headed to the doors to exit. But the fact that I was in the Great Hall, supposed to be eating, occurred to me. I did not have any appetite anymore. But I wrapped some kippers and toast in napkins to give to Ron and Harry.
Thankfully I had an unhindered trip back to Gryffindor tower. Ron immediately pounced upon the food the moment I entered and wolfed it down, giving some to Harry. It seemed that the messy-haired boy finally got his appetite back, because he started eating as well. I couldn’t say the same for myself.
“You okay, ‘Mione?” Ron asked when he finished eating.
“I’m fine,” I lied, forcing a smile. Glancing outside, I caught sight of the shining sun upon the grounds. Going outside was temporarily forbidden; the dragons were not cooperating, choosing to blast anyone in their paths.
Harry was looking pensive again. Ron poked him in the side. “You okay, mate?”
“Yeah,” Harry assured him in an emotionless tone. He, too, managed a meager smile. I looked at him suspiciously. “I am, ‘Mione,” he said.
Pushing the thoughts away that were weighing me down, I suggested, “It’s a nice Saturday morning; why don’t we get some homew—“
“Exploding snap!” Ron instantly overrode my idea. “Sounds good to me. You up to it, Harry?”
Perking up, Harry nodded, the light returning to his eyes. “I’m up for it, Ron, if that doesn’t mean I’m doing homework.”
“Boys,” I muttered, stumping to my dormitory to get some work done.
I found that when I reached my dorm the strength and motivation left me, and I swayed on my feet. Malfoy’s voice was hissing in my head, echoing off the walls. Gripping my head, I fell onto my bed. My chest clenched up as reality crept into my being. The options were to tell someone about Malfoy’s presence in the school and send my parents to their deaths or to keep quiet about what I knew of Malfoy and spare my parent’s lives.
But what disaster would be wreaked if I told no one? Why was Malfoy here, anyways?
I decided that I couldn’t inform anyone just yet. I planned to, though.

-sarah No worries; I'm glad you love it! We'll see, won't we?
But here's yet another chapter!
~*~*~
“Look outside!” Colin Creevey squealed excitedly, pulling out his camera and snapping pictures out the window. “The dragons are being carted away!”
Everyone peeked over in interest. Indeed, the dragons were being flown away. Some were still battling against the dragon trainers on the ground.
“At least we can go outside now,” Ron commented, peering outside, where the sun was streaming down.
I looked around the common room. “Where’s Harry?”
“Went to talk to McGonagall,” Ron informed me absentmindedly, still looking outside. “Do you think they’ll let us outside by today?”
Shrugging, I answered, “Perhaps. They’ll have a lot of cleaning up to do, though. And Ron, remember we have our potions and astronomy essays due.”
Ron wrinkled his nose and looked curiously at me. “You sure you’re all right, ‘Mione? This morning you didn’t look so well.”
“Don’t worry about me, Ron,” I said through gritted teeth. “I can’t deny that I’m feeling rather antsy about what’s happening these days, but it’s natural, right?”
Gathering me up in his arms, Ron assured me, “Of course it is.” He perked up. “Do you want to play some Wizard’s Chess?”
I shook my head. “I’m going to find Harry.” Worry was edging its way into me again.
“I’ll come with you,” Ron said, springing at the idea.
We made out way toward the Headmistress’ office. The gargoyles were stationary in their stone forms. I bit my lip.
“Good to know we walked all the way for nothing,” Ron commented, glaring at the gargoyles.
But just then the doorway opened and Harry and Professor McGonagall stepped out.
“Granger, Weasley, what are you doing here?” the Headmistress exclaimed, arching her eyebrows.
For a moment I wanted to request a private audience with her and tell her about Malfoy, but Harry’s questioning expression stopped me. “We were just seeing if Harry was out yet,” Ron explained.
Professor McGonagall’s eyes swept over us and lingered on me, as if knowing that I wanted to say something. “Is that all, then?” she asked, lips thin and pursed as ever.
I nodded mutely and the three of us headed back towards Gryffindor Tower.
As we passed the library, I remembered that I needed a few books for my astronomy paper, so I pulled Harry and Ron along. “I’m not wandering the school hallways alone,” I explained. “You can sleep at the tables if you want—I’ll be there for just a short while.”
Rolling their eyes, Ron and Harry sat down at a study table. Neither took my suggestion and instead chose to stare absentmindedly around.
There were two books I had in mind. Professor Sinistra had recommended them. “Don’t take too long,” Ron grumbled after me. He and Harry knew full well that when I told them I was going to the library for a ‘little bit’, that meant two hours—minimum. But I promised that I would be faster this time.
I walked to the other end of the library, which took ten minutes in itself. Finally, I found the section I was looking for. Now I just had to find the books. Dust rose around my head as I examined the spines of many texts.
“Fancy meeting you here, Granger.”
My blood turned to ice once more. I didn’t want to turn around to face him. Instead, he came around and looked me in the eye.
It was the first time I’d seen him close up. His eyes were still steely and pale blue, but there was a hardness in them that I hadn’t seen before. The shape of his jaw line was more pronounced and there were slight bags under his eyes.
Bending his head down close to mine so he wouldn’t be heard, he whispered, “You haven’t told anyone yet, have you?”
“Why should I tell you?” I countered, glaring at him.
He placed a pale finger on my lips, sending an icy sensation on my mouth. I jerked away. “Don’t touch me.”
“Then shut it.” Lightning flashed through his eyes for a second and then he surveyed me. I felt like he was sifting through the thoughts in my head. “You were thinking of telling McGonagall, though.” His voice was in an undertone again.
My heart stopped. How did he know? Did he know? Or was he just toying with my mind, trying to get me to confess something in the process?
He chuckled, eyes still boring into mine. I couldn’t look away. “I like toying with your mind, Granger,” he hissed in my ear. “Good guess.” With a triumphant smile, he straightened up and smoothed his hands over his robes.
He could read my mind. Literally. I couldn’t take it any more. I ran. I ran back to Harry and Ron, with whom I would be safe.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Callisto Maven | Chapter 8 More... ~*~*~
“Do you ever get the feeling that someone can read your mind?” I asked casually later that week in the Gryffindor common room.
Harry nodded. “Snape used to do it to me all the time.”
“The git,” Ron added with extreme dislike.
I inhaled a deep breath. I had to ask Harry to teach me. The books at the library were impossible to learn from. I’d already tried. “I think you should teach me occlumency, Harry,” I said in a rush.
“What?” he asked, bewildered. “Why would you want to learn that?” He eyed me suspiciously.
I stuttered, “I thought it’d—it’d be a good tool to use against the enemy, against V-Voldemort. Wouldn’t you agree?” I was desperate. I couldn’t risk Malfoy probing my mind again.
“Sure, but I’m rubbish at it,” Harry reasoned. “I gave up trying to learn it back in fifth year. It’s not as easy as it sounds.”
“I’m sure I could learn it with practice,” I pressed. “Could you at least teach me the basics?”
Harry gripped his head in slight frustration. “I dunno, ‘Mione. Well…” he sighed. “I don’t really remember. You just have to close your mind. That’s what I did. But I never did get the hang of it.”
Sighing, I sifted through my book bag. “Thanks for the help, anyways. I’d better work on this essay. Ron, Harry, you should as well.”
~
The next morning, Harry was gone. Just like that. Ron told me when I arrived at the main common room from my dormitory. He handed me a note from Harry to us. Ron and Hermione,
I’ve gone to Godric’s Hollow. Don’t come looking for me; I don’t want to drag you into anything. I’ll be okay—don’t worry.
Harry
Sinking into the armchair behind me, I willed myself to stay calm. “Okay, we must tell Professor McGonagall before doing anything else,” I concluded, rising to my feet. Ron nodded stiffly. His face was white.
Thankfully, it was still breakfast time in the Great Hall, so finding the Headmistress would not be too difficult. However, when we entered, she was nowhere in sight. My blood ran cold.
“You don’t think she’s gone off too, do you?” Ron whimpered beside me, standing stock-still.
“Don’t be silly, Ron,” I heard myself say. “Of course she’s not…well, we can’t jump to conclusions yet.” Briskly walking over to the staff table, I tapped Hagrid on the shoulder.
He turned around, and seeing the frightened faces of Ron and me, dropped his toast. “’Smatter, ‘Mione?”
“Where’s Professor McGonagall?” I asked urgently in an undertone, trying to remain calm at the same time. It wasn’t working. My hair around my face seemed to get frizzier by the second.
Hagrid looked at us suspiciously. “Gone on business, can’t tell yer more ‘n that.” His row suddenly furrowed when he noticed the absence of the third member of our party. “Where’s ‘Arry?”
I bit my lip, restraining tears.
“He’s gone—gone to his parents’ place,” Ron burst out, but thankfully not too loudly.
“Merlin’s beard!” Hagrid exclaimed in his throaty voice. He glanced around to make sure no one was watching. “You two stay put, you here? I’ll sort this out, don’ you worry.”
With that, he pushed back his chair and stumped out of the Great Hall.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Callisto Maven | Chapter 9 And because I feel like it, another chapter... ~*~*~
“Ron, for the last time, stop fretting!” I reprimanded shrilly, feeling like the hypocrite I was at the moment. Working on my arithmancy homework was not working, as my hands were shaking badly from everything that had happened.
Glaring at me, Ron shot back, “Don’t even tell me to calm down, Hermione.” His red hair was standing on end as he paced the common room. He let out what sounded almost like a strangled sob and looked at me painfully. “Why would he do that? He knows that we’d go with him. He can’t do it by himself.” He kicked the side of the fireplace.
I threw my quill down and rubbed the side of my head. “Don’t ask me, Ron,” I moaned, closing my eyes and sinking deeper into the armchair I was sitting on.
“Well, you should be used to it by now, me asking you everything. You’re supposed to know everything, right?” he said angrily, rubbing his toe where he’d hit the fireplace.
Opening my eyes, I sat up straighter. “Stop being irrational. Right now is not the time.”
“Don’t you use that mother voice with me!” Ron’s voice grew louder.
I huffed, “Then stop acting like a child!”
“You can stop acting like a git, then! Why don’t you just join Malfoy, because you’re sure acting like him.”
The silence was ringing in our ears. I opened my mouth, but closed it. I underwent the feeling of teetering the point of crying and shouting all at once.
“Sorry,” Ron muttered, staring pointedly at the floor.
“Me too,” I mumbled, sighing. “Let’s take a stroll along the grounds. I can’t concentrate on homework now, anyways. It’ll do us both some good.” My brainpower seemed to have left me that morning.
Ron silently agreed and we left the confines of the common room, which was getting too stuffy anyways. “I’m really sorry about just now,” Ron repeated, placing a hand hesitantly on my waist.
“It wasn’t entirely your fault,” I responded, leaning into him. “We’re both on the edge now that Harry’s gone. But we have to get ourselves together; he wouldn’t want us to be like this, would he?”
Nodding, Ron steered me out the doors and into the fresh outdoors. The sun seemed unsure of its placement in the sky, peeking out of the clouds now and then. We automatically traipsed to the tree by the river, under which we spent many memorable afternoons studying for exams.
“Let’s just forget about all of it, okay?” Ron pleaded, sliding his arm around my shoulders right now. “Just for a bit.”
I didn’t have the strength to deny him his wish. Willingly closing my eyes, I rested my weary head on his shoulder. I could feel his fingers running through my hair gently as he kissed me on the forehead. I opened my eyes a crack and smiled, kissing his cheek, and settling back into my former position. All was well as I watched the motionless lake, but something was brought to my attention within my peripheral vision.
“Just a second,” I informed Ron, who nodded and yawned.
Rising quickly from my grassy position and dusting the blades of grass from my clothing, I walked briskly towards a concealed wall where I’d seen Malfoy dash.
