"That sounds great!" Shane said, with a wide smile on her face. "A Muggle pub? ... Interesting. Very interesting." She turned to look at her desk, seeing the huge pile of work waiting for her. Shane's smile turned into a quick frown until she had an idea. I guess it wouldn't hurt to move over here and complete the work. Just signing my name and stuff. She flicked her wand at the pile of work at her desk and motioned the pile to land gently by Egypt's desk. "I hope you don't mind me working a bit here. I have to get it done, but I'm having such a great time talking with you. No harm in multi-tasking." |
"Yes me and Nathan have to best times there. Muggles aren't so bad, well until they get drunk that is." She said with a laugh. "Oh no. You are fine." she went back over to her desk with her water in her hand and sat down. She had been letting the paperwork pile up on her desk for a few days. No one ever came in the office and checked on them , so they had cart blanch to come and go as they pleased. It was only when court was in session did they really have to do any work. She went to work on her own stack of parchments. Many of them being requests for new court dates. Or getting visitation rights at Azkaban. "So Shane do you like working here?" She asked her signing off on something. |
Shane smiled. She figured that it would be alright to work at Egypt's desk, even if it was a bit crowded. She opened up one of the many files in her pile and read its contents. Every now and then, she bit her lip and then scratched her signature on one of the lines. She then closed the file and went to another. Through the middle of reading a paper, she heard Egypt asking her something. She giggled slightly at Egypt's question. Not that it was funny or anything, but she thought that the answer was quite obvious. "Do I like working here? ... I quite love it here. I practically live here, if you know what I mean. But there are times that get quite difficult of me, but I manage to get through. Actually, the difficult times are the most interesting. A lot better than just sitting around signing papers." She giggled and then asked, "Do you like it here?" |
They worked in silence for a few minutes. A witch wanted to haul her nephew before the court because he had his father's will and didn't want to let the family read it. She looked at a calender and gave the witch a court date. She dropped the notice in the outgoing mail box and moved no to another file. They had a lot of backlogged cases to get through. "It is growing on me. I love reading through all the old trials and case files." She told Shane, she had spent house pouring over those things. So she would be prepared for whatever case she would be called to judge. "I am eager to get into the courtroom though. I have been reading about British law and court proceedings, but it different to actually be a part of it." |
Shane opened yet another file. A wizard living in Bristol wanted to sue against his neighbor for turning all of his Muggle lawn gnomes into real gnomes. Apparently, these gnomes were destroying his property. Looking up from the file, Shane glanced over at the calender and set a resonable date to hold the court session. The nerve of some people ... She almost didn't hear Egypt speak, seeming she had opening another file. This file was a little more interesting. Looking up, she saw that Egypt was talking. "Oh. Well that's good," she said with a smile. "It is quite a different story once you get into the courtroom. But it's totally worth every minute you're in there." |
She had the biggest stack out of all the judges, it seemed they were making the new girl pick up all the extra stack. When they finally got to court it seemed they were going to be very busy. "Oh yes of course I understand." She picked up a file and read through it laughing at the case. "Shane listen to this. A wizard in Surry wants to drag the Minister himself before the court because last year he lost his hearing and says the Minister announcing the Quidditch Cup caused his hearing loss." She said between giggles. This was by far the funniest case she had come across. |
Shane giggled when Egypt read off the file. "That's really ... sad," she said between giggles. "Umm ... I suggest writing back to that person, instead of making a court date. I'm sure that this is not the Minister's fault." She rolled her eyes quickly. What is going on with the world today? She gave Egypt another smiled and returned back to her files. She opened another and read its contents. |
Egypt pulled out a piece of parchment and tried to stop giggling enough to write a proper response to smooth this over. "Yes this poor man. He may just be looking for someone to blame." She said between sentences. She finished the letter and dropped it in the out box. She went on to the next file. Merlin's beard they were backlogged! |
"The nerve of some people these days," Shane said, shaking her head with disappointment. "They'll never learn to stop and think about things like this. They just go with what they think is right." She picked up her last file and read through it. After she finished reading it, she signed it and set it aside. She then looked at Egypt's pile of files and saw that she had quite a few left. "Would you like some help getting those files signed?" |
Syd walked in, carrying the sheet of paper from earlier that afternoon. He saw Egypt and Shane talking to each other about... files? "Afternoon ladies," he said, sitting on the edge of one of the desks. "I have everything I need to start a trial if either... or both of you... are interested. Nothing too big though." |
"Yes they feel like they have a right to drag anyone into court these days." She said shaking her head. She looked up at Shane when she offered to help her with her stack of files. "Oh no Shane I want to pull my weight around here. Thank you so much for the offer though." She told her giving her a smile. Egypt looked up at her Department Head, she had never met the man before. "I am interested sir. If that is all right." She said respectfully. |
Shane's eyes widened when she saw that Syd had walked in. She thought that it was quite humourous that he had walked right in when they were discussing files. She smiled at him and walked a few steps forward toward him. "Good evening, Mr. Wordsmith," Shane said, with a quick nod of her head. "I'm interested as well, sir. Egypt and I have been waiting for ages for a trail to come up." She giggled and gave a quick wink at Egypt. |
"Yes sir we have." She commented giving Shane a smile, she would hate for either of them to be left out of anything. |
Edward makes his way to the offices of the Wizenganot and finds an empty desk. He finds it funny that he's going to have a desk in this department before he has one in the auror office. Edward guesses it comes with wearing two hats. He gets his desk set up and goes over the evidence Forrester sent him in the Evidence Room. |
Syd watched Lestrange come in and sit down at the desk he had claimed for himself. He turned back to the women and nodded to them. They really were eager beavers. "Well ladies, Lestrange," he said, motioning to the man, "and I have been given a case. It's important, but no murder or anything. If you'd both like to participate I'm fine with that." |
Shane looked at the man who had just came in to the office and foudn a desk. Lestrange, she thought before Syd had intorduced the man to them. They, Lestrange and she, had never met before but Shane knew him on the spot - she clearly kept taps on everyone in the department and a few others here and there. "Evening, Mr. Lestrange," she said, waving gracefully at him. She then turned to Syd. "Sure thing, Mr. Wordsmith. I think that Egypt and I iwll take this one on together. Shall we get going then?" She smiled. She was ready. |
She looked at Mr. Wordsmith, they hadn't had a case since she started working and she was itching to get downstairs to Level 10 and get into that courtroom. "Good evening Mr. Lestrange." She said to him with a big smile. She hadn't met too many people on Level 2 and she was keen to meet more of them. She smiled at Shane when she said they could get going. "Yes we can get going." She told her |
Brianna entered and looked around, she wasn't sure what the person who had sent her the memo looked like, so she wasn't quite sure whom she was supposed to be meeting. "Excuse me," she said, "Can someone tell me where I can find," she looked down at the memo in her hand, "Edward Lestrange?" |
Edward has his head buried in the sworn statement Syd had brought him. He really has a lot of work to get done if he was going to be ready for this trial. Edward is definitely out of his element. He's used to building cases against dark wizards, not defending them. Edward is right in the middle of reading Piper Underwood's statement when he hears two female voices. He looks up to see Syd talking to two women. They say hello to him. Edward smiles. "Hello, how are you doing?" He doesn't wait for an answer burying his head back into Piper's statement. "Piper Underwood, why does that name sound familar," Edward wonders. "Of course, she's the Experimental Charms specialist Forrest brought in to create spells for the Australia mission. Forrester said she was tops in her field. He was very impressed with her. Forrester rarely is impressed with people unless they are extradinary." Edward continues to read her statement. "If she's such a hot shot Charms creater, why doesn't she know how to perform an Imperius Curse." Quote:

Piper enters the winzenmagot administration services, where she was asked to meet with a Mr. Edward Lestrange, an auror she had already met in the aurors HQ. Inside the office, she noticed that on the contrary of the auror HQ, the winzenmagot wasn't as large in space as the experimental charms office. Spotting Mr.Lestrange and her boss, she moved quickly towards them. "Hello Mr. Weasley, Miss Brianna" Piper greeted when she was near Mr. Edward office. "Mr. Edward did you want me in something because I'm still working on that Charm?" Piper asked as she took a look at her boss. "I hope I'm not taking to much time and I need to return to the office?" Piper asked her boss. |
"Hello Miss Underwood, Edward says. You still have time to perfect that charm. Forrester hasn't made the assignments for the mission yet. I need to talk to you about the Melvick case. I'm acting as temporary defense attorney for the Wizengamot until they can find a permanent one. If you'll can come to my desk, we can get started. I have a few questions to ask you concerning what happened." |
"Oh the charm is going great" Piper said. "Well not great but I'm almost done. I had the idea of manipulating the silencio charm so that it would turn down only the accent of the caster and use a kind of modification charm to modify the accent and here we go but I still have to test it." she added. "And please anything... I would answer anything" |
"Well, have a seat and we can get started." |
"I'm Brianna Faser, Division Head for the Committee on Experimental Charms," Brianna said to Mr. Lestrange as Piper entered. She gave her a small smile, glad to see that she was looking well and it sounded like she was doing admirably in helping the other Departments. She sat after he offered to get started and mentally sighed, would it ever be over? |
"Nice to meet you, Ms. Fraser. I'm Edward Lestrange. Thank you for coming so soon. I know you'll both have be questioned several times about the Melvick case. I've read you'll sworn statements several time too. I have few additional questions concerning your statements. Now, who would like to go first?" |
