Wizengamot Administration Services

Welcome Wizengamot! You fine witches and wizards are our judges for every case the department can find. It is up to you all to decide on everything from minor misdemeanors and major murders. Overall, it is here that you will prepare your mind for your cases and then return to decide them. Each member gets a desk, of course, and there are bookshelves completely filled with law books.

Your department head might also pop in every now and again to visit...

Division head: Rebecca Todd (Becky)

drdoran 02-21-2008 02:28 AM

Judge Doran entered the law chamber and found his leather chair and desk. He walked over to it and sat down in the chair, glad to finally be at the Ministry of Magic. Seeing no one else yet present in the room, Judge Doran took out a book on the shelf behind him on contracts and opened it up to read, waiting for the other judges to arrive.

PharaohMan18 02-22-2008 01:53 AM

Syd wandered into the Wizengamot offices. His hands were in his pockets, his red vest buttoned and nicely ironed. He looked around the room, mane of hair shifting slightly as he did so. His lips were a bit pursed as he looked at the large, heavy desks that were all but empty. The recent hiring was taking a while it seemed, but that was alright. For now anyway. However, his gaze did land on one man.

"Na' don't tell me," he said, squinting a bit. "Judge Doran, right?"

His southern drawl was certainly unexpected in a British governmental organization and yet here it was coming from the head of the department.

drdoran 02-22-2008 02:00 AM

Judge Doran looked up as Syd walked into the offices. He could see in the man's face that he didn't look too pleased to see all the empty chairs. Judge Doran put his book down and put out his hand when Syd walked over to him.

"That would be me, Sir," said Judge Doran in a friendly manner, his half-moon spectacles glinting with the light of the chambers. "I would like to thank you for my job. I'm quite eager to get started with everything. How are the judgeship applications coming along?"

moonchic07 02-22-2008 02:06 AM

Cassandra was walking around, trying to find her division. She looked into one of the offices and noticed an elderly man and a younder one talking.
She walked in, hoping one of them would be able to help her out in finding the Auror offices.
"Excuse me, hi, I'm Cassandra Carter." Cassandra said as she came up to the two.

drdoran 02-22-2008 02:09 AM

Judge Doran looked over to the new approacher and smiled at her. He thought he had saw her somewhere before, but he wasn't quite sure where.

"Hello, Cassandra," said Judge Doran. "My name is Judge Doran. What brings you to the Wizengamot administration?"

moonchic07 02-22-2008 02:13 AM

Cassandra looked at the judge, he seemed familiar but it could've been her imagination.
"Hello Judge Doran, I'm actually on my way to the Auror department, I'm new and well, can't seem to be able to find my office." She said, a little embarrased by this.

drdoran 02-22-2008 02:17 AM

The judge could tell that she was embarrassed and felt bad for her.

"Well, you're in the right general area. It's just right down the hall from here. You look fairly young, though, to be an auror. Have you recently graduated from Hogwarts?"

Judge Doran took off his half-moon spectacles and put them down on top of the papers spread out all over his desk, waiting for a reply from the girl.

PharaohMan18 02-22-2008 02:21 AM

"Yeah, the applications are fine. Got 3 solid judges I think," he said as a woman entered the office.

The woman appeared lost and admitted to just such a thing. Syd remembered now. She was an auror... and just as he realized this, she, again, admitted it. She was pretty off, but it was the first day. It was like being at Hogwarts as a first year.

"Well you've wandered into the judges' chambers, I'm afraid, but that's just fine. The Aurors are juuust down the hall a ways. Door's marked, or should be anyway."

moonchic07 02-22-2008 02:24 AM

"Thank you sir. Not exactly, I graduated almost ten years ago, I'm 25." Cassandra told the elderly man.
She turned to the younger looking man. "Thank you. You're the head of the Law Enforcement, right?" She asked him.

drdoran 02-22-2008 02:31 AM

"Well, I'm glad to hear that I at least have two other colleagues. Have you hired a Chief Warlock yet?"

The judge had had his eye on the position for years now and was hoping to be the one to get it soon, but if he did not, he was at least glad to be where he was and had been for years under the old administration of Fudge.

--------------------------------

"Wow, I certainly thought you were younger. Well, you are still pretty young, and I'm glad to see that the younger generation are becoming more involved with law enforcement. I remember back in '99, we judges often complained of the lack of young people in law enforcement, especially in the Wizengamot itself. Most people get the misconception that a judgeship is just for the old. But what attracted you to being an auror, m'dear?"

Judge Doran had put his half-moon spectacles back on and looked at Cassandra curiously.

PharaohMan18 02-22-2008 02:34 AM

"Yes, I'm the head of this ole department," he said, smiling.

It was a warm-enough smile. Not exactly the most tender, but not ice cold. He sat took his hands out of his pockets and sat down on one of the desks, looking around the room.

"Yes, Miss Carter I think you should get to know Judge Doran here. It'll be less intimdatin' if you ever end up in court to testify."

He turned his attention to Doran as the question registered. Chief Warlock? Doran seemed a bit eager. A small smirk appeared on Syd's face.

"Chief? No, not yet. Though we'll see, now won't we Your Honor?"

moonchic07 02-22-2008 02:38 AM

Cassandra listened intently to the elerly judge, she was in awe about how long he had been a judge. She was almost shocked when he asked her a question.
"It had been my life long dream." Cassandra told him. "I always wanted to catch dark wizards."
She turned to the head of the Department. "Yes, that would come in useful." She said giving him a kind smile.

drdoran 02-22-2008 02:48 AM

Judge Doran folded his hands together and nodded in reply to the Head's response.

"I guess we shall," said the judge with anticipation. "Will you be taking age into consideration, sir? As they always say, wisdom comes with age."

Deciding not to look too desperate for the position, the judge turned his attention back to the auror, who seemed to be a bit apprehensive with him.

"Yes, the universal goal of all in the justice departments. A very good ambition that you have there, Miss Carter. Bring me the criminals, and I will make sure justice is served in the courtroom. And really, you need not feel intimidated by me. I may be old and, in the eyes of many, shrewd, but like I always say, such is needed within my field. I expect you are good in your studies?"

The judge had to ask the question, for he was very advanced with his books and admired those who were as well. He believed that education was the key to a good and structured society.

moonchic07 02-22-2008 02:56 AM

Alex nodded to the judge, she wasn't intimidated by him, he seemed pretty friendly.
"I'm not that great." She told him. "I mean, I did get mostly Exceeds Expectations on my NEWTs, but education really isn't my field, that's more for my sister."

PharaohMan18 02-22-2008 02:59 AM

Syd's smirk was still on his lips as the man tried to focus on the girl. Subtle hints. Syd liked that. He liked it very much. Now Judge Doran was planted in his mind and once the staff grew, he'd know who to be on the watch for. If Doran could prove himself, Syd would be willing to make a deal.

He merely nodded his head to Doran's question, being slightly vague. The advice being given to Cassandra was good.

drdoran 02-22-2008 02:59 AM

Judge Doran could pick up on the fact that the Head understood his inner intentions and was glad he got through to him. But for the time being, Judge Doran thought he would show his boss that he could be extremely shrewd and analytic in the courtroom.

"I see," said the Judge in reply to Cassandra. "Well, with your field, you need to have more of skill than wit, anyway. But still, that is good. Do you know, I wasn't always a judge. I use to be a healer before I entered law."

The judge definitely thought Cassandra was pretty nice as well.

moonchic07 02-22-2008 03:05 AM

"Ah, healing, I'm not very good in the medical field but I do have much respect to the healers." Cassandra told him. She seemed very interested in the judge's past, something she never used to be interested in before.

drdoran 02-22-2008 03:11 AM

"Yes, and I also served as the Chief for quite a time."

Judge Doran glanced at his boss, hoping he would get the other hint. It could be said that Judge Doran was a pretty ambitious man and had always been for the major part of his life. He thanked his ambition for his successes, but others would say it was his diplomacy and shrewd abilities as an official of law.

"Yes, the medical field......such deference I have for it as well. But, Miss Carter, I wonder, how many crooks have you caught so far in your lifetime? I personally convicted at least 10,000 people in my lifetime for small demeanors to large situations. I served in numerous courts over seas as well."

moonchic07 02-22-2008 03:18 AM

"Wow, you must've been a really great healer." Cassandra said to him, she was intrigued by him. "Since I'm new here and everything, I haven't caught any dark wizards, but I'm willing to prove myself." She told him, her main goal right now would be to become the next head of the Auror Department and she was willing to do anything to prove she could get the job.

drdoran 02-22-2008 03:24 AM

"I was knowledgeable in my field," replied Judge Doran, fiddling with his gavel that he had on top of his law books. "I enjoyed the thrill of the hospital, but I decided to take up law because we didn't have many judges back then on the board. My heart will always lie with healing, but it has definitely grown onto law."

Judge Doran put the book he had been reading earlier back onto the shelf behind him and put his hands flat on his desk and looked at Cassandra, who seemed to want to hear more about the judge.

"Well, Miss Carter, I am afraid to say this, but I have an important meeting with an old colleague of mine to attend to. So, I'll be back in the office tomorrow morning. Maybe we can have a cup of coffee in the lounge or something?"

Judge Doran put his hand out to Miss Carter and shook her hand.

"See you tomorrow, then?"

(OOC: Khristina, I'm gonna get off for tonight. I have class tomorrow, but I'll be on again tomorrow night. I'll talk to ya then.)

moonchic07 02-22-2008 03:30 AM

Cassandra noddded. "I should probably get to the Auror office anyway." She said as she shook the judge's hand. "I'll meet you tomorrow in the breakroom. It was nice to meet you, and you Mr. Wordsmith" She said waving goodbye and leaving the room and headed for the Auror Headquarters.

PharaohMan18 02-22-2008 03:33 AM

Syd just smiled to Doran and got up from the desk as Miss Carter was about to be ushered out. He nodded politely to both parties.

"Nice to meet you both personally," he said before starting to leave.

He gave Doran's shoulder a little pat followed by a squeeze and exited the offices.

Zoe 02-23-2008 03:31 AM

Shane Dalton's purple snakeskin shoes went click, clack, click as she walked into the Wizenagmont Administration Services office, her purple robes making swishing noises as she walked step by step. Around her neck she wore the Akhu Amulet, a family symbol of the Dalton's that had been passed on for generations.

A smile appeared on her face when she saw Syd Wordsmith, the Department of Magical Law Enforcement Head, exit the offices. Wonder why he was down here, she thought, walking straight toward him. "Hello, Mr. Wordsmith!" Shane said, giving him the biggest smile she could possibly make. "What brought you down here today?"

PharaohMan18 02-23-2008 03:47 AM

Syd stopped as the woman in purple heels walked right toward him. He looked her over, trying to put the face to the application. Dalton.

"Well, Miss Dalton," he said with that warm, yet offputting smile of his. "I came down here to see you judges. As you may know, I'm a pretty famous prosecutor."

Zoe 02-23-2008 04:05 AM

Shane stood up straight on her heels, making herself look impressive and just a little scary. Well, quite a bit scary. Hopefully it wouldn't be necessary at the moment until she was in the courtroom. She didn't even think she could do scary. Oh well.

"Right, Mr. Wordsmith," she replied with a quick wink.

PharaohMan18 02-23-2008 04:13 AM

Syd chuckled a bit and put his hands in his pockets. Apparently Ms. Dalton was showing off too. Well he'd judge their character in court soon enough since he planned on prosecuting cases despite his new job.

"So are you excited to start tryin' cases?" he asked, voice low and drawl a little more apparent because of it.

Zoe 02-23-2008 04:31 AM

"Excited?" Shane asked, a puzzled look on her face that quickly turned into a bright and cheerful one. "I've pretty much been born ready for them cases. I mean, I wouldn't be here if I wasn't ready now would I, Mr. Wordsmith? I didn't go through years of schooling and preparation for nothing, you know."

PharaohMan18 02-23-2008 04:38 AM

Syd smirked and nodded to the girl. She was good. He pulled one hand out of his pocket to run it through his hair, chuckling a bit.

"Yes, I suppose you're right, Miss Dalton," he said, nodding. "Well I hope to be in your courtroom one day, trying a case. That way I get to truly see you in action."

Zoe 02-23-2008 04:50 AM

"I'm sure that you'll see me in the courtroom someday soon, Mr. Wordsmith," Shane replied, clicking her purple heels together gently. "Hopefully sooner than later."

"I suppose that we both have other work to get to than just chit chat," she continued with a slight shrug of her shoulders, holding out her hand and reaching for Syd's. "It was a pleasure talking with you, Mr. Wordsmith. I hope we'll meet again sometime soon."

PharaohMan18 02-23-2008 05:00 AM

Syd gripped Shane's hand, giving it a good shake. He looked into her eyes as he did so, smirk still on his face as he shook. Yes, he'd be seeing her soon. He was already a great prosecutor and he was going to make that known to these new judges.

"I'll just be getting back to my office na'," he said, heading for the door again.

Zoe 02-23-2008 05:15 AM

Shane lt go of his hand and her smile grew even wider. "See you around, Mr. Wordsmith," she said, as he walked out the door. "Don't work to hard."

She giggled and turned around, facing her fellow co-workers. It was time to get to know some of them. From the looks of it, she didn't even know half of them. Lots a new guys this time around, she thought as she walked away from the door and toward her co-workers. She smiled at each of them and said, "Hello! I'm Shane Dalton, in case you didn't know that." She quickly looked down and straightened her purple robes, she smiled as she looked down at her shiny purple boots.

Tommehbell 04-03-2008 03:19 AM

Egypt got off the lifts and stared down the long halfway. She was nervous, and she smoothed the wrinkles out of her simple black robes. She had changed on the lifts, she didn't know if the bright yellow ones she had worn would be appropriate for a Judge to be wearing.

She had worn conservative heels that day and she was glad for it, it was a long walk down to the office. She threw her shoulders back and pushed open the door. It was beautiful, big beautiful desks. She peeked around looking for hers.

It was in the back near a wall magicked to look like a window, and it was showing a lightening storm, but Egypt didn't care, she quickly sat down in her chair and swiveled it around.

This was her first real job and she was excited to get started on it.

harrys_other_broom 04-04-2008 03:39 PM

Zoey walked in and looked around. She saw a desk and walked over to it. She summened a piece of paper and a pen. She scribbled down
To any Judges:
Mr. Wordsmith would like to know if any of you are ready and would like a court room prepped because he has a case ready for trial.
Thank you
Zoey Cambridge

Tommehbell 04-04-2008 07:16 PM

Egypt looked at the note that was posted. She was excited about the prospect of a actually case. She had been itching to get into the courtroom and work on a actual case

Nathan wandered sheepishly into the Wizengamot. He felt rather uncomfortable in here – the atmosphere was rather intimidating. He scratched his head uncomfortably and brushed his hair out his eyes as he looked around. He felt (and looked) very out of place, but had heard rumour that a Miss Egypt Riddle had started work here; as a judge no less! He had come here to check to see if that the rumour was indeed true. If so, she had done far better with her application than she anticipated - but this was not unexpected to Nathan. On their meeting the other day, it was clear to him that she was a woman of ambition and stature – not one to be chasing around after petty criminals - that was a job to be left up to the Nathaniel Greenwoods of this world. He wandered to the centre of the room and looked around, taking everything in… So this is where it all happened – where countless peoples fates were decided… for better or for worse. Scary stuff indeed.

The last time he had seen Egypt, the conversation had flowed freely and easily. He had been completely relaxed in her company… so why was he so nervous about seeing her again? - he was feeling tense just being in this room and it wasn’t helping matters. He willed himself to appear relaxed on the outside as he looked around. And then, he saw her. Sitting by the window, wearing plain black robes. For a moment, he thought about turning and walking away before she saw him – would she really want to see him again? He cleared his throat nervously and sauntered as casually as possible in her direction. “Miss Riddle” He said quietly as he came to a halt in front of her desk. “Just thought I’d drop by and wish you congratulations on the new job.” He gave her a warm smile, but unsure whether she would actually welcome his presence in her place of work.

Egypt was reading over some ancient parchments, from the Roman wizard's court proceedings. She had been the first person in that day. She was the new girl in the camp and she wanted to show that she more than deserved to be there. She was not paying any attention to the going ons around her. They were to get ready for a case and Egypt did not want to make a mistake or ask a silly question.

She looked up when she heard her name, expecting a fellow judge to ask her something. It was Nathan. She didn't think she would see him again, she had made such a fool or herself, she just knew that she had made a bad impression.

"Nathan." she said her manuscripts forgotten. She stood up quickly and knocked over all her papers. "Oh no," she bent to pick them up, forgetting that using her wand would have been a much faster way to collect her papers. He made her nervous.

"Thank you." She said loving the sheepish smile that he gave her. "I just started yesterday." She told him. She looked around there was no place to talk in private. "Do you want to grab a gilly water in the break room?" she asked, hoping he wanted to spend time with her as badly as she did him.

Shane jumped when she saw that Miss Cambridge had walked in with a note. She ran over to the desk and read the note. Yes! Yes! Yes! Shane thought, nearly jumping in her purple heels. I'm so ready for this!

She quickly set the note down on the desk. She turned on her heel and ran right out the door. This sure is professional, she thought sarcasticly. Oh well.

Nathan smiled as the papers flew everywhere. Egypt seemed very jumpy – probably second day nerves. He bent down to help her pick them up. “You alright there, love?” Maybe Nate had overstepped the line by coming and seeing her here. It was obvious he wasn’t helping her relax. They would have run into each other sooner or later in the cafeteria… or somewhere within the department. But maybe Nathan couldn’t wait that long to see her again.

“Alright.” he replied, relieved when she suggested going to the break room - it was so quiet in here that your voice echoed even if you talked in a whisper. “A judge, Miss Riddle. I’m truly impressed.” he said brightly. He hoped to hell that the other Wizengamot judges would make her feel welcome. It was always hard being the new person. Nathan had had the advantage of starting at the same time as his colleagues, so they had all been pretty much in the same boat on their first day. “How are you finding it so far?” he asked as they began walking towards the door.

Egypt took a deep breathe to calm herself down, she was going to go bat crazy if he kept calling her love, but she found out from another person that was just the way he talked to all the women in Ministry. She was disappointed by that, but she still loved that word coming from his mouth nonetheless. She smiled at him again, willing him to understand how much she liked him.

"Thank you Nathan, I am impressed myself." She told him, she reached over for her change purse that was sitting behind her desk on the shelf, as she extended her leg the back of her skirt hiked up to reveal a scorpion tattoo blazoned up her thigh. "Oh, its going great. We are getting ready for a case in a couple of days."

She stood up straight and turned and walked over to the door with Nathan.

ooc: next post in the breakroom

Tommehbell 04-19-2008 12:10 AM

Egypt walked into the office. Her head hurt a little, she let Nathan take her out drinking and it wasn't going so well with her being awake at 7am. She was wearing a deep orange robe with red heels. Her hair was pulled into a tight bun. She had some more paperwork to go over. She wondered when the trials would be starting.

She walked over to her desk and prepared for another day at the office.

Zoe 04-27-2008 12:39 AM

Shane walked back into the office and sat down at her desk. She had just finished her lunch and had decided to go and sit at her desk. Maybe she would write a letter to home if she didn't have a huge pile of work to do that had been waiting for her to finish a while ago.

She waved at Egypt when she walked past her desk. "Hello, Egypt," Shane said quickly, stopping by her desk before heading back to her own.

SuperSteve16 04-27-2008 12:45 AM

Steven pressed te wrong button on the lift and had found his self here in this room. He exaimed it and saw that it looked a lot like a court room. Pehaps, their was a case on today. Steven pushed the button so that the elevator would come back down. This room gave him the creeps so he wanted to get out of here as soon as possible.

Egypt looked up from her desk as Shane spoke to her, "Hi Shane." She said with a bright smile. "Have a good lunch?"

ooc: sorry i just saw ur post :(

Zoe 05-02-2008 03:51 AM

Shane smiled at Egypt. "Oh yes. I did have a good lunch. ... So, how was your night? Looks to me like you had a little party or something." Shane giggled to herself. Parties were fun.

"I totally love those deep orange robes," she continued. "And those heels! So adorable."

OOC: It's alright, love. :)

Tommehbell 05-05-2008 05:41 AM

Egypt gave her a small smile, "Me and my boyfriend Nathan Greenwood had a little too much ale last night." That was the first time she had drunk ale and it was not agreeing with her.

"Well thank you, my sisters Ireland and Irish make all my robes for me. I can send you a couple of you want."

Zoe 05-06-2008 01:11 AM

"Ah. I see," Shane said with a smile. "At least you had fun. That's all that really matters, I guess. As well as being safe too. Glad you had fun."

Her eyes widened. She would die to have some properly made robes, not that anything was wrong with her set of them. "That would be quite lovely, actually. I've had these things," she said, pointing at her purple robes that seemed brand new, "for quite a while. Don't look a thing like they used to. Think you could get them in purple?" She rolled her eyes at herself. Everything has to be purple with you, Shane. Sheesh!

Tommehbell 05-07-2008 04:14 AM

"Well thank you, if you ever see us in the Raven's Claw pull up a chair and have a drink." she said with a smile Shane did really seem like a nice woman to get to know after work.

"Oh my sisters can give you any color to match anything. They even make mood robes. They change color to match your mood. I can bring some in for you tomorrow." She told her brightly

"Hmm. Sounds like fun. I'll have to head over there sometime when work is over or something," Shane smiled brightly. "Having a nice break from work wouldn't give me to much pain, so I'll totally head over one day."

"Mood robes?" she asked. "Interesting. I guess a pair of mood robes would be neat as well. It'll be interesting to see how quickly my mood changes each day." She made a little giggle. A little too interesting, actually.

Tommehbell 05-12-2008 06:49 PM

"Oh its a nice little pub, lots of muggles though, but they are nice chaps mostly." she told her. "I'll bring you some purple sets of robes too. I have boxes and boxes of robes they send me to try out." She shrugged.

Zoe 05-21-2008 10:31 PM

"That sounds great!" Shane said, with a wide smile on her face. "A Muggle pub? ... Interesting. Very interesting."

She turned to look at her desk, seeing the huge pile of work waiting for her. Shane's smile turned into a quick frown until she had an idea. I guess it wouldn't hurt to move over here and complete the work. Just signing my name and stuff. She flicked her wand at the pile of work at her desk and motioned the pile to land gently by Egypt's desk. "I hope you don't mind me working a bit here. I have to get it done, but I'm having such a great time talking with you. No harm in multi-tasking."

Tommehbell 05-21-2008 10:41 PM

"Yes me and Nathan have to best times there. Muggles aren't so bad, well until they get drunk that is." She said with a laugh.

"Oh no. You are fine." she went back over to her desk with her water in her hand and sat down. She had been letting the paperwork pile up on her desk for a few days. No one ever came in the office and checked on them , so they had cart blanch to come and go as they pleased. It was only when court was in session did they really have to do any work. She went to work on her own stack of parchments. Many of them being requests for new court dates. Or getting visitation rights at Azkaban.

"So Shane do you like working here?"
She asked her signing off on something.

Zoe 05-24-2008 06:57 PM

Shane smiled. She figured that it would be alright to work at Egypt's desk, even if it was a bit crowded. She opened up one of the many files in her pile and read its contents. Every now and then, she bit her lip and then scratched her signature on one of the lines. She then closed the file and went to another.

Through the middle of reading a paper, she heard Egypt asking her something. She giggled slightly at Egypt's question. Not that it was funny or anything, but she thought that the answer was quite obvious. "Do I like working here? ... I quite love it here. I practically live here, if you know what I mean. But there are times that get quite difficult of me, but I manage to get through. Actually, the difficult times are the most interesting. A lot better than just sitting around signing papers." She giggled and then asked, "Do you like it here?"

Tommehbell 05-27-2008 03:40 AM

They worked in silence for a few minutes. A witch wanted to haul her nephew before the court because he had his father's will and didn't want to let the family read it. She looked at a calender and gave the witch a court date. She dropped the notice in the outgoing mail box and moved no to another file. They had a lot of backlogged cases to get through.

"It is growing on me. I love reading through all the old trials and case files." She told Shane, she had spent house pouring over those things. So she would be prepared for whatever case she would be called to judge. "I am eager to get into the courtroom though. I have been reading about British law and court proceedings, but it different to actually be a part of it."

Zoe 05-27-2008 06:08 AM

Shane opened yet another file. A wizard living in Bristol wanted to sue against his neighbor for turning all of his Muggle lawn gnomes into real gnomes. Apparently, these gnomes were destroying his property. Looking up from the file, Shane glanced over at the calender and set a resonable date to hold the court session. The nerve of some people ...

She almost didn't hear Egypt speak, seeming she had opening another file. This file was a little more interesting. Looking up, she saw that Egypt was talking. "Oh. Well that's good," she said with a smile. "It is quite a different story once you get into the courtroom. But it's totally worth every minute you're in there."

Tommehbell 05-27-2008 06:25 AM

She had the biggest stack out of all the judges, it seemed they were making the new girl pick up all the extra stack. When they finally got to court it seemed they were going to be very busy.

"Oh yes of course I understand." She picked up a file and read through it laughing at the case. "Shane listen to this. A wizard in Surry wants to drag the Minister himself before the court because last year he lost his hearing and says the Minister announcing the Quidditch Cup caused his hearing loss." She said between giggles. This was by far the funniest case she had come across.

Zoe 05-27-2008 07:50 AM

Shane giggled when Egypt read off the file. "That's really ... sad," she said between giggles. "Umm ... I suggest writing back to that person, instead of making a court date. I'm sure that this is not the Minister's fault." She rolled her eyes quickly. What is going on with the world today?

She gave Egypt another smiled and returned back to her files. She opened another and read its contents.

Tommehbell 05-28-2008 08:14 PM

Egypt pulled out a piece of parchment and tried to stop giggling enough to write a proper response to smooth this over. "Yes this poor man. He may just be looking for someone to blame." She said between sentences. She finished the letter and dropped it in the out box.

She went on to the next file. Merlin's beard they were backlogged!

Zoe 05-29-2008 05:03 AM

"The nerve of some people these days," Shane said, shaking her head with disappointment. "They'll never learn to stop and think about things like this. They just go with what they think is right."

She picked up her last file and read through it. After she finished reading it, she signed it and set it aside. She then looked at Egypt's pile of files and saw that she had quite a few left. "Would you like some help getting those files signed?"

PharaohMan18 06-01-2008 12:40 AM

Syd walked in, carrying the sheet of paper from earlier that afternoon. He saw Egypt and Shane talking to each other about... files?

"Afternoon ladies," he said, sitting on the edge of one of the desks. "I have everything I need to start a trial if either... or both of you... are interested. Nothing too big though."

Tommehbell 06-01-2008 04:36 AM

"Yes they feel like they have a right to drag anyone into court these days." She said shaking her head. She looked up at Shane when she offered to help her with her stack of files. "Oh no Shane I want to pull my weight around here. Thank you so much for the offer though." She told her giving her a smile.

Egypt looked up at her Department Head, she had never met the man before. "I am interested sir. If that is all right." She said respectfully.

Zoe 06-01-2008 04:43 AM

Shane's eyes widened when she saw that Syd had walked in. She thought that it was quite humourous that he had walked right in when they were discussing files. She smiled at him and walked a few steps forward toward him.

"Good evening, Mr. Wordsmith," Shane said, with a quick nod of her head. "I'm interested as well, sir. Egypt and I have been waiting for ages for a trail to come up." She giggled and gave a quick wink at Egypt.

Tommehbell 06-01-2008 04:48 AM

"Yes sir we have." She commented giving Shane a smile, she would hate for either of them to be left out of anything.

Mrs. Weasley 06-01-2008 08:49 PM

Edward makes his way to the offices of the Wizenganot and finds an empty desk. He finds it funny that he's going to have a desk in this department before he has one in the auror office. Edward guesses it comes with wearing two hats. He gets his desk set up and goes over the evidence Forrester sent him in the Evidence Room.

PharaohMan18 06-02-2008 01:17 AM

Syd watched Lestrange come in and sit down at the desk he had claimed for himself. He turned back to the women and nodded to them. They really were eager beavers.

"Well ladies, Lestrange," he said, motioning to the man, "and I have been given a case. It's important, but no murder or anything. If you'd both like to participate I'm fine with that."

Zoe 06-02-2008 01:53 AM

Shane looked at the man who had just came in to the office and foudn a desk. Lestrange, she thought before Syd had intorduced the man to them. They, Lestrange and she, had never met before but Shane knew him on the spot - she clearly kept taps on everyone in the department and a few others here and there.

"Evening, Mr. Lestrange," she said, waving gracefully at him. She then turned to Syd. "Sure thing, Mr. Wordsmith. I think that Egypt and I iwll take this one on together. Shall we get going then?" She smiled. She was ready.

Tommehbell 06-02-2008 01:59 AM

She looked at Mr. Wordsmith, they hadn't had a case since she started working and she was itching to get downstairs to Level 10 and get into that courtroom.

"Good evening Mr. Lestrange." She said to him with a big smile. She hadn't met too many people on Level 2 and she was keen to meet more of them. She smiled at Shane when she said they could get going. "Yes we can get going." She told her

caseym 06-02-2008 11:18 AM

Brianna entered and looked around, she wasn't sure what the person who had sent her the memo looked like, so she wasn't quite sure whom she was supposed to be meeting. "Excuse me," she said, "Can someone tell me where I can find," she looked down at the memo in her hand, "Edward Lestrange?"

Mrs. Weasley 06-02-2008 10:46 PM

Edward has his head buried in the sworn statement Syd had brought him. He really has a lot of work to get done if he was going to be ready for this trial. Edward is definitely out of his element. He's used to building cases against dark wizards, not defending them.

Edward is right in the middle of reading Piper Underwood's statement when he hears two female voices. He looks up to see Syd talking to two women. They say hello to him. Edward smiles. "Hello, how are you doing?" He doesn't wait for an answer burying his head back into Piper's statement. "Piper Underwood, why does that name sound familar," Edward wonders. "Of course, she's the Experimental Charms specialist Forrest brought in to create spells for the Australia mission. Forrester said she was tops in her field. He was very impressed with her. Forrester rarely is impressed with people unless they are extradinary." Edward continues to read her statement. "If she's such a hot shot Charms creater, why doesn't she know how to perform an Imperius Curse."

Quote:

"But something seemed strange with Royda as if she was under a spell maybe confunded, but with the signs she showed I might say she under the Imperius Curse....

I'm not sure as well if Miss Dame was under the Imperius Curse, but the signs indicate that... I mean the blank eyes.... The confussion... The moment of hesitation and especially Mrs. Melvick... You see Mrs. Melvick isn't the type of people that just sit down and and hear what people have to say... She always finds a way to interfer as I noticed... But when Royda was being questioned she was quiet as a rock... If you take that into consideration you will find that the only reason why Mrs. Melvick would stay quiet is that she didn't want to loose concentration over Miss Dame," Piper replies.
Edward remembers the first time he performed the Imperius Curse. A curious shot down his arm, a feeling of tingling warmth that seemed to flow from his mind, down the sinews and veins connecting him to the wand and the curse it had casted. He remembered watching Mr. Wainwright doing cartwheels up and down the beach ending with an Irish Jig. After Edward had removed the curse, Mr. Wainwright said he had had such a reaction because of the Lestrange's powers are so strong. Edward searches his brain concerning how you perform the Imperius Curse. Edward had performed and taught it over a thousand times, and he never remembers needing constant concentration for the curse to work. Either Piper doesn't know how to perform the Imperius Curse, or she's lying to implicate Mrs. Melvic. Before Edward can decide which one is right, he hears someone calling his name. He looks up and sees a woman standing in the middle of the office. Edward gets up and walks over. "I'm Edward Lestrange. Can I help you?"

Phoenixis 06-03-2008 11:53 AM

Piper enters the winzenmagot administration services, where she was asked to meet with a Mr. Edward Lestrange, an auror she had already met in the aurors HQ.
Inside the office, she noticed that on the contrary of the auror HQ, the winzenmagot wasn't as large in space as the experimental charms office.
Spotting Mr.Lestrange and her boss, she moved quickly towards them.
"Hello Mr. Weasley, Miss Brianna" Piper greeted when she was near Mr. Edward office.
"Mr. Edward did you want me in something because I'm still working on that Charm?" Piper asked as she took a look at her boss. "I hope I'm not taking to much time and I need to return to the office?" Piper asked her boss.

Mrs. Weasley 06-03-2008 07:52 PM

"Hello Miss Underwood, Edward says. You still have time to perfect that charm. Forrester hasn't made the assignments for the mission yet. I need to talk to you about the Melvick case. I'm acting as temporary defense attorney for the Wizengamot until they can find a permanent one. If you'll can come to my desk, we can get started. I have a few questions to ask you concerning what happened."

Phoenixis 06-03-2008 08:06 PM

"Oh the charm is going great" Piper said. "Well not great but I'm almost done. I had the idea of manipulating the silencio charm so that it would turn down only the accent of the caster and use a kind of modification charm to modify the accent and here we go but I still have to test it." she added.
"And please anything... I would answer anything"

Mrs. Weasley 06-04-2008 02:18 AM

"Well, have a seat and we can get started."

caseym 06-04-2008 03:55 PM

"I'm Brianna Faser, Division Head for the Committee on Experimental Charms," Brianna said to Mr. Lestrange as Piper entered. She gave her a small smile, glad to see that she was looking well and it sounded like she was doing admirably in helping the other Departments. She sat after he offered to get started and mentally sighed, would it ever be over?

Mrs. Weasley 06-05-2008 02:36 AM

"Nice to meet you, Ms. Fraser. I'm Edward Lestrange. Thank you for coming so soon. I know you'll both have be questioned several times about the Melvick case. I've read you'll sworn statements several time too. I have few additional questions concerning your statements. Now, who would like to go first?"

Tommehbell 06-05-2008 02:44 AM

Egypt didn't know what was going on, but she remained silent and listened to what was going. She wondered if this was all part of what Mr. Syd was talking to her and Shane about.

PharaohMan18 06-05-2008 03:58 PM

"Why don't we just head downstairs," Syd said, ushering the girls out of the room.

He smiled to Edward and walked toward the stairs. Edward needed his time alone to question the witnesses anyway. Somehow Syd knew this wasn't going to be an open and shut case. Hopefully Edward wasn't like a certain someone else...

Mrs. Weasley 06-06-2008 04:29 AM

"No problem for me. Shall we begin." Edward takes out his wand and performs the Muffiato Charm on both Brianna and the room. Having just a cubicle doesn't afford you much privacy. "Let me get my notes." Edward moves papers around his desk trying to find just the ones he's looking for. "Here we are."

"Mrs. Melvick's application says her experimental charm was called a Specific Concealment Charm. Have you had a chance to study this charm? If so, in your opinion do you think it would have ever performed properly?"

"In your statement you made some less than kind comments about Mrs. Melvick's personality. Please don't misunderstand me. She's one of the most difficult people I've ever had to deal with. I would like your opinion on her abilities as a witch. Mrs. Melvick has told me over and over again when I spoke with her what a powerful witch she is. Do you think she would be capable of creating a spell like the one she submitted for approval?"

"According to your statement Mrs. Melvick forceably brought Miss Dames to your office. You also said you had to use a Silencing Charm on her. What were they arguing about? Did it have anything to do with Miss Dames having her shopping interrupted?"

"You said you saw Mrs. Melvick perform the Imperius Curse on Miss Dames and may I add you gave a very good description of it being performed. Did Mrs. Melvick do this before Brianna started questioning her? I would like you to give my your opinion as to why Mrs. Melvick used the Imperius Curse on Miss Dames. Do you think Mrs. Melvick was afraid Miss Dames would not give her spell a favorable review? If Mrs. Melvick felt the need to control the results of her test on Miss Dames, would that lead you to believe that the spell did not work in the first place?"

"If Mrs. Melvick had to use the Imperius Curse on Miss Dames to make sure she said she could not see her, that leaves me with the impression Mrs. Melvick wasn't too confident her spell would work. If that was the case, how would you explain Brianna saying that Mrs. Melvick used the same spell to destroy your office?"

"I also see in your statement that you performed a cloning charm because you did not trust Miss Melvick. You were very fortunate not to have drank the beverage. It was laced with aconite. A particularly deadly potion when administered in large doses. The beverage only had a small dose of the poison. Not enough to kill, but enough to make anyone who drank it sick. Since you did not injest the poison, your head was clear, can you tell me what happened after Mrs. Melvick served the beverage?"

Brianna's statement says as soon as Mrs. Melvick performed the charm everything being destroyed. Now I am confused. Did Mrs. Melvick perform the charm before or after she served the beverage? When I read your statement, it sounded like the total mayhem started after Mrs. Melvick served her beverage.

"Yes I had a chance to study the structure of the charm to check if it would have worked if anyone worked properly on it. Well Mr. Edward I guess you don't know the theory behind concealement charms. A concealement charm is a very interesting charm because it is one of the spells that work on the enviroment around the object and not the object itself and by modifiying certain properties to that enviroment that the charm works. Mrs.Melvick's charm uses the same theory but that the charm would only work on a specific person and not just conceal an object or a person from everyone eyes. I tried to get it to work but no matter what I did the charm just could achieve stability.. Prove that Mrs. Melvicks charm only destroyed stuff" Piper replied.

"I have witnessed Mrs. Melvick's magical power and arrived to the conclusion that she is a pretty tough which, she was able to fight all the employees of our division with some of the ministry security. And yes I would say she would be able to create a charm to get it submitted to approval. Actually everyone does if they work on their charm"

"Well they were arguing about pretty much Miss Dames coming to the ministry after she was dragged from one her shopping days or something. Mrs. Melvicks came in and she was dragging Miss Dames behind her. The poor woman was so frightened that she just kept on screaming so I had to use a silencing charm to get her to stop.

"I never said I saw her use it... I just said I thought that she had all the signs of a caster who is using an imperius curse with the concentration and everything. And yes I mean Mrs. Melvicks charm would never had worked and would never have even showed a sign of success but she needed a witness and the strange thing is that she only chose the only person that seemed the weakest... She said about her other witness that he was on vacation and nowhere to be found... Maybe that person never existed"

"Well you see half of the charms that are created poorly end up with the same effect. Destroying things up... I guess it's a rule" Piper revealed. "And I guess that Mrs. Melvick's charm was one of those charms that just end up with blowing things up... Actually I thing she made several things blow up... Maybe it would have been better if she decided to apply her charm for a destruction one instead of a concealment one"

I stayed in the charms office of course after I destroyed my clone and I saw how Mrs. Melvicks started to cast spells after charms after hexes and use potion... I guess one of them were a love potion... Well she completely destroyed the office and we had to work for days to restablish it"

Mrs. Weasley 06-08-2008 03:04 AM

Eric checks to make sure the Quick Quill is working correctly. "Let's see:"

"Aproximately how many spells, charms, curses, and hexes did you see Mrs. Melvick perform?"

"Did she perform any nonverbal spells?"

"Would you allow Forrester Hufflepuff to perform the Prior Incantato Charm on your wand?"

Phoenixis 06-08-2008 09:06 AM

"Oh well I can't count them exactly one by one but I'd say they were a lot I mean have the time I was thinking of a way to stop her so between my shield charms and her incatantation I'd say there was a bunch... Any nonverbal spells I can't remember any she might when I was out of the office.
Oh Mr. Forrester already made a Prior Incantatam Cham on my wand I guess it must be there between your stuff and notes but you didn't find it."

Mrs. Weasley 06-09-2008 03:27 AM

"I see. I must have miss understood you earlier. I thought you said you were in the office during the entire atttack." An owl flies into the office carrying a note for Edward. He takes it from the bird and reads it quickly.

"I see Piper. Well I can get that information from Forrester if I need it." Edward sees that the quick quill has finished with the dictation. "If you would sign this statement, that should take care of everything. I want to thank you for coming. You have been most helpful."

Shane smiled at Syd. They were actually going to do this. She was going to do her very first case in the British Ministry of Magic. She couldn't wait. She was pumped!

"Alright then," Shane said to Syd and walked out of the room. She waited for Egypt and Syd to come out of the room as well before heading down the stairs with them. I wonder what he was talking about with Lestrange ...

"Edward can I ask you something?" Piper suddenly said before she would decide to leave.

Mrs. Weasley 06-14-2008 04:53 PM

"Certainly, fire away."

Phoenixis 06-14-2008 08:22 PM

"I just want to know something? What is wrong with mr. Forrester you seem to know him very well? Why does he seem mean sometimes and the other he is as tender as a baby? And is he really a Hufflepuff?" Piper asked.

Mrs. Weasley 06-15-2008 03:54 AM

Edward smiles. Piper is interested in Forrester. "Yes he is a Hufflepuff a descendant of Helga Hufflepuff I believe." Edward gives Piper the once over. Shame all the cute ones go for Forrester. "His personality...what did you do to upset him? Forrester is usually very polite with the nonauror personel. He saves hid grumpy bear routine for us."

Phoenixis 06-16-2008 09:10 AM

"Ow impressive... No I understand now because when he is with me, he is so sweet and caring but when he is talking to you guys... I mean he is a different person" Piper replied.
"Oh do you know if he is seeing anyone?"

Mrs. Weasley 06-16-2008 07:37 PM

"Hey, slow down a minute. I'm not even sure we're on the same page. Forrester is a great guy, and he's generally congenial with everyone. He just gets authoritative when he's giving orders and such. Does this have anything to do with you going on the undercover assignment?" Edward doesn't like to pull rank on Forrester, but he sees now he needs to have a long talk with the bossman.

Phoenixis 06-16-2008 08:05 PM

"Well actually no... I am on the undercover mission because I need to be on the undercover mission... I can't just teach you that spell it's unapproved and only I have the permission to cast it" Piper replied. "You haven't replied to my last question is he seeing anyone?"

Mrs. Weasley 06-17-2008 02:15 AM

"And Forrester agreed to let you go without a fight?" Edward wasn't going to let her have what she wanted without giving him nothing in return. "I've only been back for a few weeks, so I can't be 100% sure. I don't think he's serious with anyone at the moment. Don't you think you should be asking him that question?"

Phoenixis 06-18-2008 08:37 AM

"You can say that I am a bit afraid and shy.... I mean I can't just go and ask him... And what do you mean by fight?" Piper asked.

Mrs. Weasley 06-19-2008 03:56 AM

How do I get myself in these situations? What do I look like advice to the love lorn? I have brief encounters. I don't have romances. It's hard to get serious when you're on an island with recuits and staff. I taught Forrester the two commandments for being an auror. Never let civilians go on an undercover mission, and never fall in love with someone you work with or against. Then Edward remembers Maddie. She broke all the rules. I never followed the rules, so why should Forrester and Piper.

"Fight? I umm, I'm just concerned for your safety. You've never been on an under cover mission. Things can get hairy out there. I know it's a good idea for you to be in the field. Something could go wrong with the spells you're using, and they are experimental. You should talk things over with Forrester first. Get an idea of what you're getting yourself into." Edward, you are a genuis. "I understand you being shy. Forrester is a very private person. He rarely lets people see the real him. You should talk to him before the mission. Why don't you ask him to have a cup of coffee with you away from his office. He gets too many interuptions there. Forrester is already impressed with your abilities. He needs to see you as someone other than the experimental charms genius. I know it's a ridiculous idea, but you're dealling with an idot when it comes to love."

"He thinks I'm a charm genius and he is impressed with my abilities. What abilities?" Piper asked as she looked at Edward. It was right that she was good at charms and creating them but half of them were usually just garbge.
"Yeah maybe you are right maybe I should go and ask him about all of this" Piper replied. "Do you need anything at all from me?"

A paper airplane note flew in through the door and landed lightly on one of the empty desks in the room. It flipped a bit and unfolded itself, revealing the familiar cursive-print hybrid handwriting:

Morning everyone,

The Ministry is going to be holding a world convention soon. As sucj, we have a lot to do. I need you judges to start thinking and maybe drafting some form of World Court. You'll be dealing with judges from all over the world so you'll have to think of everyone. It's a big job, but it has to be done.

Also, if Lestrange is still there, tell him we need to wrap up the Melvicks case before the convention comes. Our courtrooms are going to be needed for this convention.

Egypt had been sitting at her desk going over some old case files when she saw the note fly into the office. She watched it unfold itself. She stood up from desk and walked over to read it. A world court? They want us to form a world court? That was a new one. They magical community around the world couldn't agree on a standard cauldron bottom thickness but we can come together for a world court. Well this was going to interesting, Egypt thought to herself. This would be a challenge. She wondered what Mr. Wordsmith wanted them to do exactly. She made her way over to his office to ask him.

Shane sighed quietly at her desk. Her desk was finally a mess and the work day seemed to be going by really slow. Normally the work day went by pretty fast, but today was a different day. That was a sign that work was to be done.

Shane started to clean her desk so she could actually see it. What if Syd had came in to this? That certainly wouldn't be good at all. That was when she heard a paper airplane whiz by her head. It nearly hit her too!

She glanced up and noticed that it was at an empty desk. Egypt was already on the case, reading the note. What was this about? They got tons of notices each day, but it looked like this was from Syd. She could tell by the cursive-print hybrid handwriting that belonged to the Head of the Department.

She walked over to the desk with the notice. By the time she was half-way there, Egypt had dashed right past her. She had a bit of a confused look on her face, but Shane still had no idea what was going on. She then printed the rest of the way over to the notice and read:

Shane read over the notice about three times before it started to make sense in her head. They were going to host a world convention and judges from around the world would be here. This was a total shocker! She never expected it. But what exactly did they have to do? That must've been why Egypt was in a hury to run over there. She was going to see Syd.

Shane sighed. This was going to be something big for sure. She'd make sure the ask Egypt what this was all about when she came back from Syd's office. It was probably best to let one judge ask him what they were to do. Anyway, there are another bit of an assignment for someone to tell Edward Lestrange to finish the Melvicks case. She could do that.

Taking a quick look around the room, she could see that Lestrange was still talking with Piper Underwood. She put down the notice on the desk and walked over to where the two were. Hopefully she wouldn't be interrupting anything.

"Excuse me," Shane began softly. "Mr. Lestrange, we just got a notice from Mr. Wordsmith saying that there's going to be a world convention soon and he wanted to let you know that the Melvicks case needs to be wrapped up before the convention comes."

"No, you've given me all the information I need." Edward smiles at her. "Don't sell yourself short. You helped me plan my defense for this case. You're a genius in my book too."

"Oh thank you I better get going then" Piper replied as she got up. "I will tell you what will happen to me okey" She added as she made it towards the exist. She was now confident that she could start a relation with Forrester.
