Calla liked Dora, she seemed very cheerful. She had a wonderful presence about her, almost like she was in love, or pregnant. “I love it”, Calla went on, “well, except I seem to get turned around easily.” She giggled at herself. “So, I’m guessing – mostly because Melanie told me I was her only employee – that you both work on the Invisibility Force. Are you all working on the Quiddich Cup as well?”

Dora smiled warmly at the girl and laughed whebn she said she got turned around easily. "Well, I trip over flat surfaces, so don't feel bad at all!" she patted the woman on the shoulder.

"Abby and I were both with the Invisibility Task Force before the two departments combined, yes. Abby here is division head. |The two seperate departments typically work on things together, but since we all have different skills we are working seperately on the Quidditch World Cup." Dora sighed dramatically! "The Quidditch World Cup!" she said dreamily then burst out laughing. "Do you love quidditch as much as I do?"

Dora was such a bubbly person! Calla couldn’t help but smile at her when she was talking. “Umm Quidditch…”, Calla trailed off a bit, she did not want to burst Dora’s bubble of joy – she obviously loved the sport. Calla looked away and down sheepishly, and then back up at Dora, “Err well it’s OK. I’m honestly not much of a sports enthusiast. I hope that helps me stay focused on this task. I won’t be distracted by trying to watch the game.” She stopped short, wondering if Dora was offended. She didn’t mean it that way, but as soon as the words left her lips she knew it could be taken poorly. Quickly she added, “I don’t mean anything by that you know. I’m just saying with it being my first task at the ministry I want to make sure I get it right. I’m pretty nervous. So,” Calla continued, “Do you all know if appartition or disapparation’ing will be allowed at the Quidditch Cup?”

Dora giggled a bit when Calla was obviously afraid she had offended her by not sharing her joy of Quidditch. "Don't worry, not everyone loves Quidditch the way I do! My...erm... friend, Silas thinks it's ghastly too. And to be quite frank I am not sure I am going to concentrate with the match going on." she told the girl. She screwed her face up a bit at the thought of Silas... was he really just her friend or was he more...hmmm. Dora's hair started to turn yellow while she was lost in happy thoughts.

As she snapped out of it she answered Calla's other question. "You know, I am not sure if apparation will be allowed. A majority of the spectators will arrive by Portkey, I would think. |I am simply speculating though, I am not sure on the particulars." with this Dora simply shrugged.

"Are you native to England? I was born and raised here. Went to Hogwart's and then ran off to join the Muggle Circus for 8 years. Just recently came back and joined the Ministry." Dora tried to keep a straight face when she said all of this. A |Muggle Circus?! she thought. Finally she cracked, "I went to work in the US Ministry for 8 years really. I don't think I'd fit into the Muggle world even in the circus." she exclaimed through hysterical fits of laughter.

Calla seemed to detect some confusion when Dora said the word ‘friend’, but dared not ask. Calla had only just met her after all. “A circus! That’s rich!” Calla really enjoyed Dora’s sense of humor. She continued, “No, I’m from Ireland. My father is welsh, and a muggle, and my mother is Irish and pureblood witch. I have a younger brother who is currently in his last year. I did graduate Hogwarts a few years ago. So, in short I am fairly new to London. I saw parts of it when I attend Hogwarts though, and by parts I mean Kings Cross!” Calla smiled. She didn’t want to cut the conversation short, she was having a great time, but thought it would not look good to be chatting it up with people instead of working – especially in her first week at work!

“Well, Dora, Abby, it was wonderful meeting you. And I’m looking forward to working with you both. I should get back to work.” Calla smiled warmly at the women and walked back to her seat.

As she made her way across the room she remembered something; it was a spell her mum had used to break her brother’s fall when he was climbing a willow tree when they were much younger. Calla had never heard the spell used any other time, but remembered that when Merritt fell to the ground it was as if he fell onto what felt like a lot of feathery pillows. The spell was mollis humus. Merritt landed with nothing more than a fluff sound. She sat down at her desk, got her wand out, pointed it at the floor of the office and said the muttered the words, “mollis humus.” The ground directly in front of her was soft, and fluffy, but it didn’t change appearances, it simply softened. Being satisfied with the results she also remembered the counter charm, “ferreus humus”. The ground was restored to its natural hard state. She was very pleased with this discovery, and continued to practice the charm.

After a few more moments of practice she felt confident in her idea. Melanie had not made her way back into the office yet, and it was drawing on quitting time. Calla took out some parchment and her quill to leave Melanie a before heading home. She stood up, stretched and gathered her things. Walked pasted Melanie’s desk and placed the note for Melanie would see it right off.



Calla walked towards the large doors, and as she approached them she decided she very much liked her new job, and her boss – as well as her co-workers from the Invisibility force. She heaved the doors open and made her way to the lift.

Dora giggled a bit at the new girl's reaction to her joke. Then nodding her head she said, "Ah, I see. Pretty new to the area indeed. Well, I hope you do enjoy it here. I look forward to working with you as well." Dora smiled brightly at Calla. She would have to be sure to invite her to lunch sometime and get to know her. She seemed quite nice.

Dora turned back to Abby and said, "Would you mind terribly if I took off for the evening? I will work on some more idea and have them ready for you tomorrow." Dora went over to her desk and started to gather up her things. She waited for Abby to give her the go ahead. She knew there were a ton of things to figure out and it looked like just the two of them were working on it.

She smiled and waved at Calla as she left the room. She seemed just as hapy as Dora.

Calla made her way through the heavy doors very late. She had a rough evening, and stopped at the Leaky Cauldron to have a hot meal. She didn’t eat dinner last night, and given the evening’s events that wasn’t a surprise. She scanned the room, surprised she didn’t see Melanie, Dora, or Abby. Were they in today? Calla made her way to her desk, and went over the charm she would present to Melanie when she saw her next. The office was quiet, which wasn’t such a bad thing.

Dora stumbled as she entered the office and sent the contents of herbag flying all over the floor. "Oi! For the love of Merlin!" she murmered. She knelt down and stated to gather her belongings unaware that anyone else was there. She would surely look like a paranoid if anyone glimpsed the contents of her bag. Decoy detonators, Peruvian instant darkness powder, sneakascopes, the whole lot of Defensive baubles. But after what had transpired at her house, who could blame her.

Once she had finally gotten all of her stuff back in her bag she stood up and looked around. She noticed Calla sitting at her desk and put on a weak smile and forced a chuckle, "Told you I tripped over flat surfaces." She tromped over to her desk and plopped down waiting on Abby to come to the office.

Making her way to the office for a hole new day, Melanie was bubbly as ever, she had returned pretty late to the office, and found the note Calla had left for her. She was feeling pretty excited about it.

She strolled into the office with a huge grin spread across her face " Goooooodmorning girls" she said happily, her belly dancing in front of her. She sat on her desk and took from her bag a small folder, with some ideas to create that foam charm Calla suggested yesterday.

Calla heard the large doors creeeeeek open, it was Dora. Before Calla could even greet Dora she tripped. Boy she wasn’t kidding was she! Calla couldn’t help but giggled to herself, as she did Dora was feverishly replacing things in her bag that had fallen out. She thought about getting up to help, but something told her that whatever it was Dora was not inclined to let anyone see. As Dora commented on her own clumsiness Calla called back, “Yes I see that.” She watched her get to her desk and sit down.

Not but a few seconds later Calla heard the door again, this time it was Melanie. Calla took special notice to the joyful mood Melanie was in. “Good morning!” Calla answered Melanie’s salutation. After allowing Melanie to settling in to her desk, Calla got up, took the 5 steps to Melanie’s desk and stopped. “I hope your evening well,” She gave Melanie an inquisitive grin. Calla then addressed the idea she had mentioned in the note “As you can see by your note, I had a revolution. I remembered a charm, and the counter charm my mum once used to save my brother’s next as he fell out of the tree.” Calla made a motion to the note, and then demonstrated the mollis humus and ferreus humus charms on the Ministry’s floor. “What do you think?”

Dora smiled weakly at Melanie blowing a stray bit of her black hair out of her face. "Morning Mel, morning Calla. How goes it? Dora said with little enthusiasm. She rummaged around in her bag for the notes she had been keeping. Pulling them out she flattened the parchment out on her desk and read them to herself.

She began scratching the tip of her nose absentmidedly with the end of her quill.

Calla continued, "While you review the charm I though if you don't mind I'm going to go stretch my legs for a bit. I haven't had much time to see what all this place has to hold. I think I saw a store on the 8th floor..." Calla thought for a minute, "Seeing as though it's October, I might drop in there and see if there's anything festive I can pick up for decorating my desk." Calla smiled cheerfully, gave a wave to Dora and Melanie as she headed out the doors to the lifts. "See you in a bit!" She yelled back at them.

Dora forced a smile at Calla and returned her wave. Holidays... bah! Dora was in no mood for even her favorite things after the debacle at her house. With time she was sure she would get back to normal. Maybe she would perform a cheering charm on herself later she thought. She twirled her wand around and a miniature jack- o- lantern appeared on Calla's desk. Dora smiled a bit in earnest then. Hopefully Calla would like that. She then sighed and returned to her work.

Melanie watched the effects the spell Calla used. She touched it with her hand, forced her body into it, and apparently, no matter the pressure the ground looked firm, but was as soft as a sponge, and completely and utterly absorbed the force she made. She smiled, pleased at the ground, then up at Calla nodding "I'll see you in a bit, this looks, positively workable" she said nodding, experimenting throwing a small object at the ground, only to see it's fall being smoothed by the ground.

Melanie got up from the spot she was kneeling and circled the area affected by the charm to try and throw things from a higher distance. She noticed Dora's good bubbly humour vanishing as time passed, she peeked at her from under one of the tables and tilted her head. "Is everything ok Dora?" she ended up asking, a little awkwardly, trying not to pry.

Dora's head snapped up as Melanie said her name. She cringed internally as she asked her if everything was okay. She knew she was not herself but she smiled anyway and said, "Oh, yeah! Everything is great, I just had some issues at my new house, but it's all worked out." She gave Mel a look as to say Not here, not now. And went back to her work.

Mel smiled a little embarrassed and said " glad it's all working out fairly ok then... maybe we could go for some butterbeer later at the Leaky Cauldron.." she ended up suggesting, with an apologetic smile " or maybe some chocolate... I'm craving for some chocolate right now.." she said patting her stomach.

Calla made her way to the 3rd level. Found the office straight away, and was very proud of the fact she didn’t get turned around again. She pushed open the doors just in time to hear Melanie wish she had some chocolate. “Well, then I have a deal for you!” Calla exclaimed. She trotted over to Melanie’s desk gave her the chocolate frogs and placed an enchanted pumpkin on her desk. And then with a broad smile waved her hand in front of the pumpkin and it followed with “HAPPY HALLOWEEN”. "Melanie I'm glad the charm seems to working! I hope it turns out we can use it at the Quidditch match!" Calla then walked past her desk and noticed a pumpkin on her desk, “Oi! Who got me the pumpkin? THANKS!” Calla loved the holidays. She then made her way to Dora’s desk. Calla could tell she wasn’t in a very festive mood, so instead of assuming she wanted the goodies, she asked. “Would you like an enchanted pumpkin for your desk? I also have every flavor jelly beans and acid pops if you’re interested. I’m not much on sweets, but I thought you all might want some.”

"Sorry I am being a bit grumpy lately, Mel! I just have a lot on my plate. Dora said and smiled apologetically. "A drink at the Leaky Cauldron sounds great, just let me know when you want to meet and I'll be there."


"I noticed you seemed pretty stoked about the Holidays so I conjured that up for you. And an enchanted pumpkin would be great Calla. Thanks. I am not much for sweets normally, but thank you anyway." Dora smiled warmly at the girl. She really needed to get her head on straight and get back to normal before everyone thought she was too morose.

"That was very thoughtful, thank you." Calla responded. "I'll put the candies in my top desk drawer, incase you find a need for them, help yourself." Calla smiled at Dora, she could sense Dora wasn't much for attention or conversation right now. She turned and headed toward her desk. She opened the top drawer, placed the candies inside, shut it and sat down. She now looked closer at the pumpkin Dora had put on her desk, her mind drifted to her father. He loved pumpkins. His muggle doctor has told Calla and her mom last night that we would be lucky if dad made it through Halloween. Calla had intended to make this the very best Halloween for him and made a mental note to stop by the gift shop on her way home and pick up some festive things to cheer the family up. She pulled out her quill and parchment and made a list of things to pick up.

Melanie nearly gave a girlish jump when she saw Calla placing an enchanted pumpkin on her table as well as a few chocolate frogs, she immediately opened one and bit his leg off " this is great, really" she said, her mouth full of chocolate. After she satisfied herself she cleaned her lips with a tissue and smiled " This spell will be it, I'm almost done, Ben will be so pleased with this achievement.." she smiled broadly at Calla and began eating another chocolate frog.

"Thank you so much for giving me these, when I get cravings it's complicated... Craig has ran into the street in the middle of the night to get me the strangest things" she shrugged " I'm spoiled " and gave a small laugh. She turned to Dora " Tonight will be just fine if you don't mind, after dinner, for drinks, just us girls.. it will be fun" and she winked in her direction,

Calla beamed with pride, "I'm so glad the spell will work." She couldn't wait until she got home to share the news. "And I'm very happy Craig spoils you! Everyone needs someone like that" She added as she winked at Melanie.

Realizing what time it was she gathered her things, "Well, I'm off. I hope you both have super evenings!" She was in such a good mood she was nearly skipping on her way out. Just as she was about to slip through the door she had an idea, "If you all want, I'll bring breakfast in the morning - any requests?"

Dora smiled and nodded at Mel and said, "That sounds great. I am going to take off and see if I can talk Silas into grabbing a bite to eat with me before we meet at the Leaky Cauldron" She gave Mel a quick wink."Just send an owl to let me know what time." she said to Mel and gave her a quick hug.

Calla seemed to be a great girl, really lovely. "Breakfast isn't necessary for me dear, but thank you so much. You are very gracious!" She stepped forward and patted her on the arm and smiling widely. "Mel, I will see you later. Calla, see you tomorrow. We will have to get together sometime too!" With that Dora gathered up her belongings and drifted out the door.

Calla smiled at Dora, who looked slightly troubled. "Of course, we'll most certainly have to get drinks sometime!" She finished inching out the door, and on to her way home.

Dora walked back into the office to see if she could catch Mel before she left, but no such luck. She sighed and pulled out a piece of parchment and wrote a note to Mel and Abby.



After laying the note out where they could find it easily she turned to leave. She would go find Silas and tell him... see you soon.

Abigail looked down at her watch and gasped. She was suppose to be having dinner with her sister tonight and SHE WAS RUNNING LATE! "Dora, I'm sorry, but I got to be going now. I have been planning to have dinner with my sister for weeks now and I'm sort of running late," she exclaimed as she scribbled some words down on her paper. "I'll get back with you on this question tomorrow." She stood up once she was done talking and placed all her stuff inside her bag and, then, she quickly dashed out the door after giving everyone a little wave goodbye.

I apologize for the short notice, but I have some urgent business to attend to right away. I will be gone for no more than a day or two, but hope to wrap this up sooner. Mel, I am sorry to run off on our girl's night, but I will explain further upon my return.

Abigail walked into her office after eating her lunch planning on talking about the Quidditch World Cup with Dora. She placed her cup of water on her desk and was about the sit down until she saw a piece of paper sitting nearby. Walking over to it, she picked it up and read over the letter that was left by Dora. After reading it over twice, she walked over to Mel's desk and placed the letter on there so that her friend was able to read over it. This was sad that she wasn't going to get to see Dora for a day or two, but she must work on the planning for the Quidditch World Cup even if Dora wasn't here to help.

She walked back over to her desk and took a set before she started figuring out how many people they would need to cast the charm over the stadium.
