The Office of Sophia Vivaldi - Dept Head Upon arriving at the end of the dark corridor, typical lighting for the Department of Mysteries, there is an even darker door which led to the office of the department head. Formerly belonging to Elijah Wright, there is a new name plate that now hung towards the top third, in the center of the door to allow people to identify that there was a new department head present. Department Head of Mysteries Upon entering Sophia's office, you have to do a double-take since like Elijah, the office is not ordinarily one you would expect to find in the Department of Mysteries. The room is brightly colored and creates the atmosphere of a certain warmness. Directly in front of you is the polished, wooden desk that once belonged to Mr Wright. On the desk sits a portrait of the Vivaldi family of nine - one of the few pictures that exist of her and her brothers and parents. To your left there is a bookshelf, which has many different books, but most are of the subject of potions and charms. Though there are two shelves completely void of any books: one has two picture frames sitting on the shelf; one picture is of Sophia smiling and hugging another girl. The other is of a young looking boy, clearly an old photograph. On the second shelf, there are an assortment of products from Madame Primpernelle's, a copy of the latest Witch Weekly magazine, and a single pink |
Daniel heard that the new Department head had arrived. He quickly left the Planet Room to his employees so he can have a look-see and also to introduce himself to the new boss. He knocked at the door. He noticed the new name on the plate at the door. Sophia A. Vivaldi. Now where did he hear that name. It is unusual but he is sure he had heard it somewhere. Oh well, might as well go in and check her out. He knocked at the door the second time. He straightened his robes and fixed his hair to make a good impression. |

Reaching inside her top drawer, she pulled out a small handheld mirror and double checked her makeup, running her hand once over her hair to ensure it was smooth. Setting her white designer handbag on the small table behind her desk, Sophia then smoothed her new sleek, black dress, as she took a seat in her executive chair and set to reviewing some documents that had been left behind by Elijah. Of course being Department of Mysteries, this also meant that unfortunately there was not much documents. And "Enter please," the young brunette said, curiosity peaked for who this was considering she had not really met many people yet. Nor had she told her few Hogwarts friends of this new position; they still thought she was a Curse Breaker actually. |

He then opened the door to the now unfamiliar Office. He was in Elijah's office a couple of time, but now it was very different. All that he had remembered about the former office of Elijah Wright was gone. Not a trace. He let himself in and smiled at the person behind the table. He approached her and stretched his hand, "I am Daniel Henry Smith of the Planet Room. Congratulations and Welcome to the Department of Mysteries" he said . "If you want something or need anything, just don't hesitate to call me."he said. Well that was the first agenda of his visit. But he is hesitating to do the second for it is only the first day of the new Head. |

Apparently the turnover rate is pretty high. Or high enough anyway, considering fifty percent of her heads would be new. Like herself. Taking his outstretched hand politely, the young woman shook it and made a note to use some of the sanitizer on her desk when he left. Not that she didn't trust him, but she was a bit of a germ freak too. "Pleasure to meet you Daniel Henry Smith of the Planet Room," she commented, knowing that name sounded familiar. "Thank you and yes, I am Sophia Anne Vivaldi. Would you prefer to be addressed as Mr Smith or Daniel or something else?" Oh! Planet Room! Yessss!! Daniel was one of her division heads who had NOT decided to leave just before her arrival. Want something or need something? What? Because she was female did he not think she could handle on her own? Actually, she was quite strongwilled and PREFERRED to figure things out on her own. He would learn soon enough. "Well I should be okay, but thank you for the offer," she replied, attempting to keep her tone level. "So how are things down in the planet room? Any status updates that I should be aware of?" Astronomy was not one of her strong points, so she would probably try to not get too involved there unless necessary. |
Quote:
DH almost laughed when he heard the next question, Status report well that is what he had in mind. The status report. "Ah, yes. The status report. After the burst incident that incidentally happened, we are almost through with the further detail research of the planet Pluto." he said and then sighed. "Although almost all employees of mine are on AWOL, some that remained and myself are able to finish the job and straighten the whole mess up." he continued. He then looked straight to her and said, "I will have the paperworks by tomorrow with all the details of the incident." he continued. |
sorry for the delay!! ooc: I'm trying not to get too far ahead as i wait for the 3 new divi heads to be added =) Quote:
Noticing his expression though at status reports, Sophia wondered too if she had jumped to business too quickly. Nah, that's what he is here for. He is a division head, she decided. Oh! The planet Pluto!! Yes, she remembered that at least from Astronomy lessons, most of which she had slept through. But wasn't that like a dwarf planet or something? "Burst incident?" the young woman raised a manicured eyebrow curiously. AWOL? That definitely was not an Astronomy term. Pressing her lips, she tried to maybe think of what that could mean... Wasn't there like some abbreviation guide in the Department Head manual? Oh wait; there was no manual. But given the context, because she had always been able to figure things out like that, she judged it had something to do with his employees being absent without his knowledge or consent. "Well then, perhaps you could include a list of currently active employees with your report and then I will see about putting up an advertisement for prospective new workers," Sophia nodded, thinking on ideas for advertisements that might lure people in. |
that's alright Quote:
DH was explaining things to the new Department head and at the same time measure the attitude and character that he was about to be serving for the days to come. He then smiled as she commented on the name he wanted to called to him. Burst that is what he called the incident that happened a few weeks ago in the Planet Room. "Yes, that was what I called the incident that happened in the Planet Room" he said and then cleared his throat and continued, "I was running over the files of the Planet Room that was left by the former Head, when that incident happened. A burst of blinding light messed the order of the room and after the said incident, the Planet Room was left with a mess and a lost information on the Planets." he said and sighed. "I wanted to tell you more about it, but I think that will be tackled on the report more thoroughly." he said. He doesn't want to bore the lady Head on the story of the Division. He then scratched his chin and counted in his head the number of employees he have now working actively on the Planet Room. "Yes, Ma'am. I will indicate the active employees I have and those that have became missing or just caught in the Veil of the Death Chamber." he said satirically with a smile on his face, to release the tension in the air. |
Quote:
Ah . . . DH was jumping into the explanation of the 'Burst incident', in which she kept her chocolate brown eyes focused on him. Lost information? Oh that must be terrible . . . and curious as to why or what that blinding light was. Perhaps related to the mysteriousness that drove the French woman from the Death Chamber. "Well that does sound ... interesting," she pursed her lips again, thinking if this was the right choice of words. "But yes, the report I trust your judgment will be more detailed. Thank you though for the brief synopsis. I also trust that you're including research as to what might be the root of this powerful light to cause such chaos." The last comment was not a question, but mere a way of Sophia requesting it be done, in her own way. Caught in the veil of the Death Chamber? Truthfully, Sophia had never really been around to the different rooms the Department of Mysteries had to offer, and so she knew little of what each room contained. "Sounds good, but do I dare ask why your employees might have been down in the Death Chamber?" It sounded awry to her; a place she wouldn't go except to investigate first-hand what each room had to offer. Initial impressions of Level Nine. |
Quote:
He inhaled a hefty amount of air and exhaled with a sigh. "Ahhh, yes. The cause of the incident was still unknown but I theorize that what happened to the other division was linked to the Mysterious thing that happened to the Planet Room." he said and cleared his thought. Did he really used Mysterious? This is the Department of Mysteries and no thing in here isn't mysterious. He nodded a little and continued, "I have decided that we must first start to fill the missing information on the Planets and then proceed with an in-depth and thorough search for the cause or culprit behind the incident." he said. He almost smirked when she asked if why did he think his employee will be on the Veil of the Death Chamber. He shook his head and said, "Oh no, I'm sorry. But that was only a satirical statement we have here when employees are gone missing. That they got caught by the veil" DH hoped the Department Head would take it lightly. |
Coming straight from her position right by the veil, Alyss strode up to the new department head's door. Raising her small hand, she knocked twice. The whole fact that they'd lost their department head, and the new division head for the Death Chamber hadn't turned up yet, was a teeny bit vexing, and for someone with a bit of a Napoleon complex, it was easy to get vexed. |
Quote:
Oh. Well that was silly of her. The blood rushed to her cheeks as the Planet Division head informed her of 'the joke' when employees went missing. "Oh. Well that's ... good to know." She gulped, clearly embarrassed, but also amused too. "Caught by the veil..." she whispered, repeating his words. "Clever." Something that Sophia-Anne was clearly not. Quote:
Speaking of which, Sophia turned back to Daniel Henry. "So, Mr DH..." she half smiled now. "Anything else you wish to speak to me about? Of course I do have one request to make of you..." |
Quote:
"I'm afraid that's just it." he said clearing his throat. Then he heard a knock on the door, he quickly looked at it and then turned to Ms. Department head. "All that is left is the report that I will hand to you as soon as I am finished with it." he said with a smile. A request? Sure he can do anything. "Sure. What would be your request?" he said with a quizzical look. |
Quote:
Sighing, a part of her wanted to do that, but at the same time, she couldn't. The truth was that even if some stupid guy got between the two, Sophia was a friend first and foremost. Even if she was still bitter over something that happened more than ten years ago - she was a professional now. A professional who had someone in her office right now, waiting for a response. Oh snap! "Oh. Right, well then, if that's all..." Her gaze flickered inconspicuously back to DH. "My request is simple. Later today or tomorrow, I will be making my way around the Department of Mysteries and getting acquainted with the different rooms the department has to offer. So just wanted to forewarn you to prepare your employees and then perhaps give me a tour of the Planet Room, if you'd be so gracious?" |
Quote:
He looked around and eyed the door and returned his gaze towards the Department Head. And then there was the request. DH thought it would be a grave one and would make an effort doing the request. But instead it is just a simple help of touring the Department and giving the word to the employees. "Is that all, Ms. Vivaldi? I would love to make a grand tour of the Planet Room for you." he said and then cleared his throat. "Is that all, Ma'am?" he said in a chivalrous manner. He then turned and acted as if he was about to leave. |
Kris strolled down the hallway with his hands in his pockets on his way out of inspecting the Time Room. He still hadn't met the Department Head, which was a bad thing to him at least. It was proper to introduce himself before he really started cracking down on everything, anyway. Arriving at the place of the office he was looking for, he found two women standing outside, presumably waiting to talk to the new Department Head as well. He nodded politely and also smiled at them. "Ladies." He began to lean against the wall and folded his arms, looking around the corridor. |
Quote:
Nodding lightly when he confirmed that was all, she half smiled again, "Yes, that will be all. Thank you. For the anticipated tour and for stopping by, DH." She said politely. "Oh and if you would send whoever was next into my office on your way out, then it would be appreciated, thank you." |
Stacey-Ann walked up the corridor of the department of mysteries and saw a few people waiting outside the department head's office so she took a seat and hoped that she would be seen quickly she was desperate to get back to work |
A well folded, light beige color parchment passed through the light crack opening of the Office door of the department Head of Mysteries Ms. Sophia Vivaldi, Containing the neat and legible handwriting of Brian Lee, Department head of Maintenance and Security. Quote:

A snowy white owl suddenly flies into the room, heading for the Department Head's desk and dropping off the following message - http://i199.photobucket.com/albums/a...eira/PARrr.jpg |
Of course Brian provided quite appropriate staffing for the polling locations on level ten and Gringotts, considering the voting all went off without a hitch. Sophia was now trying to sort out some of the employee concerns that had been brought to her attention when a snowy white owl flew into the room. Eww! It better not poop on these papers! She narrowed her eyes at the creature as she delicately picked the parchment from her desk and unfolding it. Pursing her lips she made a duplicate notice to post on her bulletin board outside her office. A female Minister . . . this should be interesting. Go Reagan! Once the notice about Reagan was done, Sophia added on a little addendum; celebrations were in order with the election of this new minister. The applications for Donovan's replacement can wait . . . . as can the ones just for employment ;) |
Connor walked up the corridor towards the Department Head's office, but noticed a line outside the door. Connor was annoyed at this because he was anxious enough already without having to wait. However, Connor did not want to make a scene on his first day, so he sighed and sat down next to woman who looked as annoyed as he did. Connor smiled at the woman and.. 'Hi, I'm Connor Renaudo,' he said, extending his hand... |

Sophia's eyebrows narrowed as no one seemed to be following DH into her officer; she was sure that there had been at least one knock while she was talking with her Planet Room Head, but yet not one person seemed interested in speaking with her. Shaking her head, she rose from her black executive chair and smoothed her tight pencil skirt down as she quickly went to her door. Celebration in the break room over Reagan's new promotion was as good as time as any to meet her employees. "Break room," she nonchalantly informed the four or so employees that were outside her office door. Locking the door behind her with a swift motion of her wand, she slipped it back into her designer holster and made her way towards the break room. |
She was going to pronounce the woman's name wrong, she just knew it. Standing outside of the door, with the memo curled around her fingertips, Alyss just stood there for a few moments. It couldn't be anything bad, she'd canceled that out on the short walk from the Death Chamber to where she was now, but... How could it be anything good? It wasn't as if she was going to get promoted or anything. Maybe it was just to.. Talk. Oh god no. If the woman just wanted to have her in her office for a few hours to have a "good old yarn" then Alyss was quitting. Small talk didn't generate well from her. It was like she'd be born without being able to keep truths that you weren't meant to bring up in a conversation in. Eventually making up her mind, Alyss folded up the memo, placed it in the breast pocket of her shirt, raised the hand that the piece of parchment had just recently been in, and knocked on the door. Heck. |
Quote:
Besides, the woman was on her way now so there was no backing out now. She couldn't just say 'I'm sorry, I was going to promote you but given your unhappy attitude towards me and the competition you present me with, I've changed my mind'. Nope; Sophia, no matter how much she wanted to do that, she couldn't. And there it was... the knock she had been expecting. Pretend she's not there? Tempting. Adjusting some papers spewed across her desk, she instead drew a deep breath. "Come in please," she called through the wood. |
