Axis nodded, he knew what she was trying to put across, "You want us to use the basis of the Prior Incantato spell to find out what the last thoughts, if any Frank had?"

He placed his hands in his pockets as he studied the brain cylinder "A brain is different to a wand of course," he laughed "But I can't see why it can't be done"

"I see. And yes.. the Prior Incantato charm shows the last spell performed if pointed at a wand, if I'm correct." Carson recalled. It was a neat thing to study, and inventing a spell seemed interesting. Then he had an idea. "How about tying in Occlumency somehow?" he contributed, looking over at Alice and Axis. He observed the brain Alice had.

"Pretty much." Alice replied to them both, an amused smile on her face at Axis's comment. Obviously they'd each heard of the charm before, which was good. She'd never created a spell before, but she'd read about it...and from what Alice got there wasn't very much strategy to it. You just had to use your common sense.

Alice bit her lip, as Carson suggested the use of Occlumency. "That's a really good idea." she complimented him. "However, I'm not sure how it would work on a brain that has suffered this much damage. I'm afraid I haven't attempted the art of Legilimency." It wasn't exactly something she wished to learn how to do either. "Are either of you accomplished Legimens?" Alice asked.

It was rare, yes, but not absolutely unheard of.

"I agree.. would Occlumency even work on a brain?" Carson asked. He wasn't sure if the brain was still alive or not.

"Er, well, not exactly accomplished," he admitted, "But I do know a little. I'm no expert.. Axis?" he asked. Legimens was also good idea.. Carson gave Alice an approving nod.

Axis nodded, he didn't think of Legimens, it was a good idea. He looked at Alice then Carson "I know how it's done" he paused "I'm happy to give it a try"

He studied the brain cylinder "I can't see how it could shield itself with occlumency."

Jasper had a bit of a late start that morning. After everything going on with his family...if one could even called them that...he was mentally stretched. How appropriate for him to be working in the Brain Room? Since he was surely a head-case himself...Not that he ever let any of his distress show. Jasper didn't need others in his business trying to fix things. Only he, himself, could sort the mess out.

With a deep sigh, Jasper entered the room, stopping briefly to take in the employees who had already arrived. "Hello." He said as he continued into the room. He seemed calm and collected, not offering anymore than the simple greeting.

They certainly were eager... It seemed she was the only one there who wasn't willing to give it a try. It just wasn't a talent she wanted to learn, though, she did find the whole concept of Legimency and Occlumency interesting (she was the head of the Brain Room after all ). "Yes, well... You can go ahead and give it a try if you like. You can't just look for thought's on the surface though, for at the moment, it obviously won't be thinking anything." she pointed out, a little worried, though she wasn't sure why. It was just a feeling she got...

The division head literally, about jumped as she heard the door creak open, biting down on her lip. Stupid nerves, they always got the best of her... Hmpf. Alice looked over at the new arrival, managing a welcoming smile. "Hello, you'll be a new member of the Brain Room?" she asked him, getting right to the point. "I'm Alice Sumner." she added polietly.

Axis reached into his robe and pulled out his wand "You are right, it will be hard to find thoughts since as you put it" he gave Alice a warm smile "it doesnt really think anymore".

Axis pointed his wand at the brain cylinder, "Legilimens!". In the distance he heard someone enter the room.

Carson looked toward Axis with a sort of twisted smile. Eyebrows raised, he said, "You can go ahead and try first.."

He wasn't really as well a Legimens as he was Occlumens. And he didn't even know if you could call him an accomplished Occlumens. SO he didn't want to take any chances of making a complete fool of himself.. and Axis seemed to know a lot more than he did.

Carson craned his neck as someone else arrived in the room. He gave a sharp nod and turned back to the brain.

Alice watched, unsure of a way she could give instruction to a skill she'd never really learned herself. She watched attentively though, so she could apply it if the need came up in the future.

To tell truth there wasn't much else she could do. Alice glanced around at everyone else, to see if they were observing before her eyes went up to look at Axis. "Do you hear anything?" she asked curiously, raising a brow slightly, and slowly reaching for a piece of paper and a pencil to write down any observations.

OOC- You guys can be as creative as you like with the results, about what you can hear or whether you can't hear anything at all. :] MissMarilyn I see from the bio that your character also has abilities of the mind & Carson said he may try, so feel to RP doing so if you wish. <3 Thanks go to all of you for staying active in the division.

Axis distantly heard Alice ask him a question. But he was too wrapped up in his spell. Both Alice and Carson were right, this was hard work.

He dove deeper, he had to concentrate with all his might to keep the connection. Since there were no concious thoughts, it made the spell harder to hold.

...he lowered his wand, breaking the connection. "He might not have been able to move, but he thought" He glanced at Carson and Jasper then at Alice

Looking at Axis intently, Carson felt a bit of disappointment as Axis reported his findings. "Shall I give it a try?" He wanted to look hard for something fascinating.. and once he was intrigued, there was no turning back. He looked a bit nervously toward the others.

Axis nodded, he knew there was no reason why Carson should not try. Axis moved away from the brain cylinder, giving Carson some room.

"Go ahead" Axis smiled, they might find the same thing. Better Carson had a look then for Axis to tell him what he found.

Carson nodded, then stepped up toward the brain. He closed his eyes and put his mind deep to it. Nothing happened at first.. his mind was blank..

Then some sort of bright orange circle seemed in view. He couldn't tell what it - oh! the sun. He tried to look for some clue associated with it. Why the sun? Something must be behind why the sun was one of the man's last thoughts. He closed his eyes a bit tighter, deeper in concentration. He was straining for any last hint, some sort of gesture or picture..

But soon the orange seemed to fade away, and the black of his eyelids was visible again. He opened his eyes slowly, adjusting back to the scene. "Well.. I think I saw a sun. Some sort of orange circle, all right." he informed them. Maybe giving it another go would help..

He turned to look at Alice and Axis, then to Jasper.

Alice observed interestedly, leaning forward, her elbow on her desk, and her head on her closed fist. She peered at Axis for a what seemed a while while he peered into the thoughts brain's thoughts. When he responded she looked slightly amazed, but at the same time pitying of the mind. on the file, she scribbled down three words: Recent Brain Activity.

The division head gave Carson an encouraging nod, but said nothing as he turned to attempt Legimency. She waited anxiously, once more, her brown eyes now directed at the Brain. Then they moved up to Carson. As he finished and told of his discovery, she nodded approvingly. "That makes sense. the last thing he saw must have been the light of the sun...or some other light." alice replied thoughtfully, tapping her chin with her quill and accidentally giving herself what appeared to be an ink goatee before scribbling a few more things down in the file...

"Would you like to give it a try Jasper?" she asked the other member of the division, as she finally looked up from her writing.

"Hello, my name is Montez. Could anyone point me in the right direction? It's my first day." Montez pushed his brown hair out of his deep green eyes. It was just barely past his ears, but it was definetly time for a haircut. Not that it would do much good, it would only be back next week.

"Hello, Montez," Carson greeted, holding out his hand. "We were just trying to use Legimens to find out what the last thoughts of this brain was." He gestured to the brain, then continued, "So far we found out that one of the last things he may have seen was the sun."

Carson hoped that summarized what had happened pretty well, then decided to give it another try. Brows knit in concentration, he closed his eyes and put his all into it.

Opening his eyes, he took a deep breath and said, "He was watching a sunset, I think, because I saw the sun above water. He must've been at a beach, or lived in a beach house." he concluded, things finally beginning to make sense. He thought of some theories on how he may have died.. maybe dragged into the water. There were endless possibilities.

Alice turned her head around as she heard he door open, curious as to who it could be. When she spotted someone she didn't recognize, Alice tilted her head slightly wondering just what was going on here. the confusion didn't last long though... Checking a note she'd received from Becca that morning Alice realized that she wasn't supposed to be getting 3 new workers today...but 4. It was utterly unlike her for her not to notice something like that, so Alice was... a little shocked.

"Hi Montez. I believe you're int he right spot. Alice Sumner, the Brain Room's Division Head." she said shortly, nodding her head in greeting. She probably would have went on longer...with a welcome of some sort, but Carson was clearly concentrated on the experiment and she didn't want to break that concentration. Plus, he'd explained what they were doing quite well to the newcomer.

Clearly, he was getting results. Carson was talking about a beach... "That would make sense. His lived by the water before the surgery... Perhaps Frank was seeing a fleeting memory, that he treasured..." she trailed off thoughtfully. "Just the fact you can see what he was thinking though... I find that quite amazing. Frank was conscious of what was going on. It means he was capable of putting together thought, recording memory, and remembering things that occurred before he took on the transplant." Alice wasn't lying. She was actually feeling a little giddy. She gave both Axis and Carson cheerful smiles. They were each responsible for the feat, after all. Axis had found it had thoughts, and Carson has discovered that Frank had his memory perfectly intact. "Excellent job, guys." Alice scribbled a few extra notes on the file before shutting it and depositing it on top of her desk, to be filed later. She left the brain where it sat in it's cylindrical container, deciding to wait until the others were gone to toss it back into it's usual big rectangular confinements.

She checked her watch, and then she looked up at the others brightly. "I'll give you guys a choice. You can work at becoming more practiced at the art of Legimency." Yeah, that included her. She was against it, and it even scared her a little, ... but Alice wasn't stupid. She knew perfectly well that, working in a section of the ministry of the called the Brain Room, having a skill like Legimency could be highly beneficial. "Or, we can try and create a simpler spell than Legimency, to be used similar tot he Prior Incantato charm, to be used strictly within the walls of this division." She leaned against her desk, waiting for a response.

Carson stroked his jaw interestedly and nodded as Alice wrote down the notes. They had figured out many things about Frank by the use of Legimens, and perhaps a bit more could be figured out by the use of it. But the Prior Incantato charm seemed like it would be good use to them all. There were countless ways Frank could have died, and it would be pretty intriguing to find out if he was dueling someone at the time of his death, or if it was natural. Maybe his death was suicidal, or it could have even been a mistake.

"Thank you." Carson appreciated the compliment - Legimency was a hard thing to master, and Carson was no pro. He had his fair share of experience, though, and it had payed off well.

Carson was deciding whether to continue or not. "I think we should give the Prior Incantato charm a go. We can try Legimency only so many times. I think we should experience a bit." He looked over up at Alice. "What do you think, Axis? Alice?" Their opinions mattered as much as his did.

"Welcome." Alice calmly a small smile forming on her lips. She appreciated manners. Legimancy was a talent, and one not easily learned. He'd done good.

Alice couldn't help but feel slightly pleased at his response to her inquiry. After all, if that was what they chose, then she'd be able to see what had occurred the man's head as well. No matter though, when it came down to it, she'd leave the choice to them. "I'd prefer to attempt to alter the charm to our purposes." she said, shrugging her shoulders. "It's up to you guys though." Alice added, peering at the others in the room quizzically.

Carson nodded approvingly. "I agree with Alice. I think that we should try the Prior Incantato charm and see where this goes." He looked around at the others and wondered what their opinions were. They had figured out a great deal already, and anything more that they figured out would be a great achievement for all of them.

Despite the experiments they were doing on Frank's brain, Carson had a question in the back of his mind that kept nagging him, and finally he asked Alice, "Alice, why do we want to figure out the thoughts of this brain? Does it have to do with a Ministry project?" Carson was thinking there would be a very interesting explanation for why they were doing the job. Maybe his death was a mystery, and the Ministry needed to know the cause of it? Or maybe it was all part of a secret.. His mind had the tendency to wander and think very imaginatively. There had always been that creative spark to him.

"Not really. It's more of a uhhh... Brain Room project." Way to state the obvious, Alice. "I mean, we already know how he died, and we now know he had thoughts and a memory, after the experiment. Other thoughts may help us determine what other parts of his brain were able to function, and therefore help people know what to do differently should the surgery be attempted once more." she explained. "Good question." Alice added, giving Carson a small smile.

Yeah, yeah, so they were agreed then. It was time to try to make a spell. Whether or not they would be successful, was yet to be seen. "Have any of you ever created or... attempted to create a spell?" she asked. It would probably surprise her. However, if there was one thing she had learned from working in the Department of Mysteries- from her magical education, it was to expect the unexpected. "Or, if not, do you have any guesses what the different methods that are used to do so?" Alice inquired, reaching for her wand, and twisting it around between her fingers as she waited for an answer.
