Alice's eyes darted back and forth as she watched the paper airplane swoop through the air, coming to her....almost as if it had eyes of it's own and could see her standing in it's wake. She grasped the note in her hands easily as it fell from the air reading the note easily, a smile flickering across her face as she read...

Excellent, they had consent.

She looked once more to her employees to the one who'd already finished and then to those that seemed to be still working along, her lips falling into a slight frown, wishing silently they'd hurry up a bit so they could get a move on.

The events of the day had only just begun...

Eleana walked into the Brain Room. It was the first day of her new job in the Ministry of Magic. She sat at her desk and waited for a memo to come to her, knowing one of them was for her.

Alice glanced over toward her employees as she finished reading the note, tucking it in her pocket, noticing they still weren't exactly getting a move on. Isabelle was the only one finished and the others didn't appear to have opened their containers yet.

She turned from her desk, standing up, and clearing her throat a little to get everyone's attention so she could speak."We're going to make a trip to the Death Chamber.... to collect...something. It's rather important. If you're not finished quite yet you can just come now, and leave your containers as they are, or come a bit later when you've finished. And if you have any questions of something goes wrong feel free to send me a note. We'll be right next door." she explained to the members of the Brain Room, taking a deep breath as she finished. Wow, she was doing much more talking than she normally did lately...

Alice started toward the door, but she stopped in her tracks, rocking back and forth a little, as she noted the woman seated at one of the desks. Either she was a new Brain Room employee, or she was a seriously confused Ministry worker who had somehow found a way into the Department of Mysteries, but either way the gas from Alice's & Isabelle's brain containers must have already died down because it seemed the atmosphere was having no effect on the other lady. Which was most definitely a good thing. She didn't want any employees harming themselves on her watch. Alice reached up with her wand and popped the bubble that had situated itself around her head so the bubble-head charm was no longer in effect on her. She indicated to the others it was okay to do likewise.

"Um, excuse me, Miss, are you a new addition to the Brain Room?" she asked warmly, as she reached the desk the woman was seated at. "I'm Alice, Alice Sumner, the Division Head for the Brain Room. Pleasure to meet you" she introduced herself politely, offering Elena a hand to shake. "We're about to go off to the Death Chamber. And you should come as well." she instructed her calmly, with an welcoming smile planted on her face. She wished they weren't so busy today and she could give her a bit more of a welcome...But the Elena would get the chance to meet new people from two divisions. That had to be a good thing, right?

Right.

As she finished speaking to her she looked back to the group as a whole once more, taking a few steps toward the door she'd been heading for to begin with.

"And now, everyone, we'll be off." she said simply, giving the others an enthusiastic grin, before rotating gracefully around on her heel to face the door to the Death Chamber. She knocked three times, rapping her knuckles against the door professionally, and waited patiently for Marina or one of her employees to answer.

"Hello, Miss. I'm Eleana Cullen, nice to meet you." Eleana said, shaking her hand. She stood up to follow her division head. The Death Chamber, huh?

Alice turned back around from the door, to speak to Elena again. "Yep, you too." she repeated, as she dropped her hand. "Sorry it's a little rushed." she apologized hastily, offering Elena a small smile. "Welcome to the Brain Room, though, Miss. Cullen." she said casually, gesturing to the room widely with her arms. "I'm sure you'll find you fit right in." Alice added, remembering how that one comment had relaxed her at her first job at the ministry. Ha. It must have been a year or so ago when she started working at the Ministry, but it felt like ages.

Isabelle smiled to herself when Alice mentioned going to the death chamber. "Today is going to be an interesting day" she thought to herself, and then turned to Eleana "hello Eleana" she said quietly and then smiled warmly "Im Isabelle Rain. I am rather new here to, but i already know that you never no what's going to happen when you work here. "
Isabelle then turned to Alice again and followed her as she walked towards the entrance of the death chamber. "speaking of surprises..." she thought to herself and than stared expectantly at the massive door.

As the room falls silent for a moment, something can be heard. The faint noise creeps slowly underneath the closed door, at first mute to the ear, as it crawls along the walls and begins to fill the room.

Suddenly the volume increases and it is more noticeable, but only just.

The buzzzZZZZZT noise begins to move across the room, flooding each and every crevice of the room with it's sound. Anyone and everyone can hear it. The noise fluctuates from loud to almost mute but it doesn't leave the room for a fraction of a second.

It was a foreign sound, not one of the Brain Room, though not unheard of elsewhere. It hasn't come from the perimeters of the Brain Room. Make of that what you may.

WZZZzzzzzt....BuuuuuuZZZZZtttTTtt... THWaaaack...

Alice walked into the Brain Room her footsteps echoing against the walls of the room. She took a sip of the coffee in her hand, letting out a small yawn which she stifled with her hand. To be honest, lately Ms. Sumner hadn't been feeling her best lately. Her first bet was that it was allergies…But gosh, she didn't have TIME to be sick.

She discarded the styrofoam cup in a trash bin by her desk as she finished up the remains of her coffee. Then Alice set to work, searching through a few files for the brains recently transferred in the Brain Room. The division head smiled to herself as she finally tugged them out of a drawer and slapped them down on top of her desk.

The Brain Room employees would be here in a matter of mere moments and she was ready to get to work. Hopefully they'd be as enthusiastic about their latest task as she was.

Carson arrived in the Brain Room after quite some hassle.. his first day here and he had wound himself up in some other section of the Ministry. Finally arriving where he was supposed to, he approached a quite attractive woman who looked like she could help him out with what exactly he had to do.

"Morning, ma'am," he greeted with a sort of salute, wondering where that came from, "First day here." He was hoping that she could lead him on from there.

Wellllll, she didn't have to wait to long.

Alice smiled warmly at the guy as he entered the room. "Hey there." she said kindly, in response. Ahhh, he was new then? Good. They could use some new employees int he Department of Mysteries. "Welcome to the Brain Room. What's your name?" she asked him curiously. After all, they had two new employees in the brain room today. She knew the rest of the Brain Room population...

"I'm Alice Sumner, Division head of the Brain Room." Alice said politely, offering a small smile as well as her hand to shake.

They may as well make conversation while they waited for the rest of the Brain Room to show up.

"And I'm Carson King," he introduced, returning the handshake and smile, "Charmed to meet you, Alice." He looked around the room to see no one else there. So, despite his troubles, he had made it early. It was pure luck.

"There are still more to arrive, aren't there?" he asked. Asking the obvious to stir up some conversation. Woooohooo.

"Nice to meet you, Mr. King. You'll be happy to know you're in the right place." Just in case he hadn't noticed the Brains floating around in the big container in the middle of the room. Duh, he was in the right place. She wasn't sure why she even bothered to add that. There was only one thing missing and that was all the other people.

"Yeah." she replied. "There should be some more people here soon." Alice shrugged slightly. If no one else showed up soon they could go ahead and start without. She was hoping for a few more people though...

Alice decided to start up a conversation, figuring that she might as well get to know him. not to mention, how awkward would it be if they sat there in silence? "Have you worked in the ministry before, or is this you're first job here?" she asked, pushing a piece of hair out of her eyes.

Carson nodded. "The brains were the only reason I recognized this place." The Brain Room. BRAINS. He wondered what exactly they did with the brains. He got some really gruesome thoughts, then pushed them away to speak to Alice. But he still cringed.

"Indeed, it is my first time working. The only time I've been here before was a time when my father worked here. I think he worked somewhere in Level Five." he explained. Now he thought he might be rambling, like he did oh so often, so he decided to move the conversation to her. "What about you? How long have you worked here?" he asked. "Not quite long, probably.. you look pretty young." he complimented with a grin. Not to say she lacked experience. He was known for his charm. Bringing back those old school memories.. sigh..

"They're kinda hard to miss." she agreed, a slightly amused look on her face as she noticed his expression of disgust. She hoped the sight of the Brains wasn't the reason he looked so appalled though. After all, a job in the Brain Room wasn't exactly the best for one who was easily disgusted. "Would you like me to tell you more about what you to here?" she inquired. It was coming sooner or later anyway.

Oh, he was new to the ministry! "Welcome, then!" Alice said warmly, smiling at him. "I've worked here for about a year and a half. I used to work in the Department of Magical Education though. I probably worked there for about two years. Before then I just had odd jobs." she explained, shrugging a little. The division head blushed just slightly when he said she looked young. When was the last time someone said that? She wasn't really that young compared to the other people who worked here, and she didn't think she looked that much younger than most of them... but it didn't do her any bad to hear it every once in a while anyway. "Thank You." she answered, nodding.

"Yeah, that'd be great," he said with a grateful smile. He couldn't wait to learn exactly what he was supposed to do. The brains didn't look all that appealing, but he could deal with it. He probably had to handle them a lot, his position explained that much.

Nodding, Carson said, "That's interesting. Would you mind telling me what other jobs you had?" That was Carson.. always curious.

"Okay, well there's a variety of things that we do in here." she started, taking a deep breath like she was about to recite a speech. "We transfer the Brains from the Death Chamber to the Brain Room. Then we have to preserve them, and clean them. Usually whats going on in here, is experiments though. Some of it is hands on, other parts not." Alice explained, stopping when she was pretty satisfied she'd covered most of it.

She wasn't if she really wanted too, but she would. "Nothing really that special... I scooped ice cream, worked ticket booths, sold stuff in department stores..." she replied. "Basically anything that I could think of to work as before I got a job in the Ministry." Alice added, shrugging as if what she was saying was of little to no importance.

"Oh, all right. So do you want to go ahead and start or wait for a couple more people?" Carson asked. He wondered if they transferred the brains by hand.. probably. Well, he'd ask Alice later. And experiments sounded cool. What kind of experiments, though? He was no scientist. He'd have to ask Alice later, or else he'd probably seem overly excited. Even though he kind of was.

"Ice cream?" Carson asked with a grin. That never failed to get his attention. But that didn't exactly matter that much. So he added before she could reply, "Well, that's interesting. This is my third or fourth job.. I worked at some Muggle stores when I was a bit younger." He had worked at a nearby shopping mall. He wanted to get into the conversation somehow.

Axis walked into the brain roomed and looked around stunned. The rumors of this room were true, an unknown magic feeled the room and he could feel it. He was happy he would get the chance to study them.

He walked further into the room and glanced around hoping to find his division head.

Alice checked her watch, before looking back at him, and shrugging slightly. "We'll start soon." she replied simply, letting her wrist drop back to her side. There should be at least one more person coming...very soon.

Of course that would be the thing that registered. "Yes, ice cream." she replied, a smile of amusement on her face. Alice merely nodded as he said that this was his third or fourth job. "So are you muggleborn then?" she asked curiously.

Alice turned her head as she heard the door open, a smile smiling across her face, as she noticed the shocked looking face of the man. Excellent. If she was right in assuming...which she usually was....this was another new Brain Room Employee.

"Hello, I'm Alice Sumner." she called over to him politely, taking a step or so away from her desk so she was in his line of view. "Is it safe to assume you're Mr. SunSoar?" she inquired hopefully. If so they could start! And... it was always good to see new faces. She'd been hoping Becca would hire some more people for the Brain Room...

Carson nodded. "Alright." He looked around expenctantly, as if someone was going to pop in any second now.

"Yes, I am. But I've always found the Wizarding world quite intriguing," he said with a slight chuckle. Then someone walked in, and he introduced himself after Alice. "I'm Carson."

Axis turned and walked towards Alice Sumner "That is safe to assume" he laughed "I am indeed Axis SunSoar" sticking out his hand. He glanced around room, he was excited to get into some magical research.

"I spoke to Becca" he smiled "And she told me to report to my Division Head, I assume that is yourself?" he asked politely.

Alice couldn't help but smirk slightly as she saw the guy walk in. It was like she was a seer or something...

Hehe.

Once more Alice didn't comment. she merely nodded she she kinda understood. It was sorta odd how it happened. Even before she'd received her letter from Hogwarts she'd had a sort of "fascination" with fictional stories of magical happening. Fairy Tales. And funnily enough even after she got used to being a witch and everything that came with it, she never really lost the interest...

Yes. It was nice to be a witch.


Welllllll, good. they could get started then. "Great." she cracked a smile as he laughed, returning the handshake. "I'm looking forward to getting to know you Mr. SunSoar." No, she never really got out of the habit of being both formal and polite nearly all the time, after living with her distinguished parents for the first 17 years of her life.

This was definitely the right person then, if he had already talked to Becca. "That would be correct." she replied with a nod.

And then Alice looked to them both, taking a deep breath. She was clearly pleased to be beginning for the day. "Ready to start?" Alice asked them, making her way over to her desk and grabbing the file she'd been looking for earlier. "This is the file of a man named Frank Joseph Caverly. We're going to study his brain today." she started, reading off of the file. The she looked up at them once more. "Frank was the first man in history to ever have a brain-body transplant. Either of you heard of him?" Alice asked as she looked up.

"Alright." Smacking his hands together in preperation, Carson nodded. "I think I've heard his name before. But I can't remember from where." So they'd be studying a guy's brain. Pretty intriguing..

Axis nodded at Carson and smiled, he was stoked to be getting into his work straight away. "His name rings a bell" he stepped forward "So this man had a brain body transplant, he will be interesting to look at then"

Right. So they'd heard his name before, but didn't have a description to match. She'd fix that.

Looking a little solemn, Alice walked purposefully over to the shelves closest to the door to the Death Chamber, lifting a brain cylinder from the top shelf, and carrying it back over to the others, setting it upon her desk with a BANG. Her shoulder visibly relaxing as she let go of the weight, Alice twisted around to address them once more. "This is the Brain of Mr. Caverly." she explained, gulping a little. Pity. "The body was "alive" after the feat of a brain transplant was attempted. However to some extent it wasn't. You can't see now, but many of the brain nerves were damaged during the attempt. The man died a month afterward." she paused for a moment, looking at the two others in the room. "It was determined he couldn't move because of the nerve damage. What we're going to try and figure out, is whether Frank had ... any thoughts after the transplant. To see if he could think while he was paralyzed or if Frank was completely and utterly brain dead." she explained, in the simplest way the could think of to do so, biting her lip slightly. Alice was nervous but...rather excited. "In other words we're trying to figure out if anything was thought by the brain recently."

"We'll need to invent a spell." she went on, "I have a vague idea of what sort of spell to base it off of. Are you guys familiar with the Prior Incantato charm?" she asked them hopefully.
