Located at the far end of the Atrium opposite the visitors entrance, the security desk is positioned next to the Golden Gates that allow admittance to the Elevator Lobby. The security desk is always manned by at least one Security Guard.
A sign on the front of the desk proclaims: Quote:

Sophie walked over to the Security Desk, and was disturbed to find it empty. Sure it was still early, but surely at least one of her Atrium Security Guards should be here by now? Thumping the desk slightly in a sign of frustration, she put her walkthrough of the Atrium on hold and took a seat behind the desk, tapping her foot against the desk absentmindedly.

Sam ran through the atrium. He skidded to a halt infront of the desk. He wasn't late, his watch said he was on time. He saw his boss behind the desk. "Erm...hello Maam," he muttered.

Esh had had a tough time getting to the ministry, what with being held back by Donald because he wanted more firewhisky and his broom going out of commission. He ran through the atrium - by god, he was going to be late! Hoping that his head of Dept. was not going to be ticked off at him, he sped up. He had another couple of minutes left to get to work on time. He stopped at the desk where a lady was sitting. He supposed this was her Dept. head.
"Um... Top of the morning to you ma'am", he said looking at his watch. He was bang on time - Thank god.

Satisfied that she had relayed all the pertinent information to Sam and Esh, sophie nodded at the pair and walked through the Security Gates into the Elevator Lobby.

Persephone entered the atrium and strolled over to the security desk. Remembering she had to register her wand she quickly wrote down her wand characteristics (13 inch, Chimaera Scale Core ,Yew wood) on a scrap piece of parchment and waited patiently for the girl behind the desk to assist her.

The Ministers now stood before the desk, fidgeting nervously with their respective robes, they stood in silence waiting to be greeted. When that failed, Minister Tatou decided to give it a shot.
"Eh--Bonjour," he interrupted one of the guards. "We are 'ere to meet with ze 'Ead of International Coo--"
He didn't bother finishing his sentence for the German Minister besides him was snickering in a most rude manner. Glaring was much more easier than speaking English. | |

He gave them a warm smile and said, "Thank you very much sir. Your wands have now been registered. You may proceed. Have a pleasant day at the ministry."

Esh looked ahead at the once again nearly deserted atrium. He decided that he'd head off to the cafetaria for a bite. He was wondering where the other security guard, Sam was, as he strode off towards the cafetaria.

Sam woke up from his daze, he had completely missed the French and German person. He shook his head and nodded, "Yeah I am Sam. You must be Esh if I am right?"
He felt slightly ashamed at himself. How could he nod off during duty? Must've been the lack of sleep, he must sleep more, or do less night duty.

But I was told that I would be better being a muscle kind of guy, so I joined the Army." Sam glanced around the lobby. "So you just graduated, must've been a shock to get straight into the Ministry, I know I nearly died of shock in the army. The change from being cared for in Hogwarts, and then having to actually do some work, it's hard."
