This job requires you to THINK like a Muggle; that means completely forgetting about anything having to do with magic! Come up with a good news story, then submit it to the Head's office. | |

Ben found himself wandering towards the Muggle Worth Excuse Committee office, trying to find someone to talk to or something to do. Maddie had left out the little detail about how boring this job tended to be. There was nothing to do! He had unpacked everything, spoken to a few employees, and already organized that mess of papers that she had left him. Bleh. He was bored.
He knocked on the door and casually strolled inside, ducking a bit as he entered the office. "Hello, how's everything going in here?" he asked, his blue eyes scanning the room. "I'm just here to check up--you know, make sure everything is running smoothly and all that jazz."

On Wednesday, a herd of thestrals made their way into a muggle meat market and were set loose on the food. Pieces of meat are disappearing into thin air, causing Muggles to run around the street, screaming like loonies. A Miss Emily Waters, 26, even phoned the muggle police who have arrived on the scene and have no idea what to do.
Here are your tasks:
-Come up with an excuse to explain why the pieces of meat are disappearing in thin air
-Think of a cover story to explain yourselves to the muggle cops
-Figure out what to do with Emily Waters
(If this were a real mission, you would also be required to clear the scene of muggles and then call the Department for the Control and Regulation of Magical Creatures)
Be sure to send all information to Ben Cobblesten's inbox by whatever day you finish your mission.
"What d'you make of this?" Mona asked, peering at Brendon through her glasses, her eyes strangely magnified. "I'm leaning toward dementia."

Mona began pacing.

He was proud of his employees, bustling around and talking and discussing things--Mona obviously did a very good job as Division head. With that, he backed out of the office before Mona could make another snappy retort.

A memo flies into the office. Rather than being all decorated in an origami figure as usual, it's just a plain memo, with an "URGENT" stamp written across the front. Quote: ATTENTION!
All active employees of the Department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes are to report to the Level 3 Conference Room to discuss urgent developments in the Ministry. Please put all other missions/assignments on hold for the time being. Hopefully, this meeting will not take a lot of time out of your day. Please bring a parchment and quill as notes will be required and of the upmost importantance. Thank you.

Mona strode back into the office with her notes, a little disgruntled. The one about dragons was going to be tough.
"All right, chaps," she said. She looked at the wall for a moment, and with a wave of her wand, a board appeared on the wall. Their two assignments were on the wall with another wave. Quote:
Task 1: Gather all information concerning previous missions or assignments for each division (excluding mock missions)
Task 2 -Muggle Worthy Excuse Committee and Obliviators: Come up with numerous excuses or possible memory replacements for dragon sightings
Task 3 -Muggle Worthy Excuse Committee: Come up with excuses to feed to muggle newspapers as to WHY they can't chop down any more forests
"I'll complete the first," she said, which will be exceedingly brief. "The second one here is going to be a tough one. How does one explain away a dragon?" She leaned back on her desk and crossed her arms, staring at the second task, chewing on her bottom lip.

Juliet rushed in, nodding at Mona once. She had been sat at the very back of the conference room, listening everything, saying nothing. As far as to visible reactions, she had had none but to let her body sink deep in her chair. That was only natural, she was that kind of person who was good at doing whatever she had decided to, but no good when it came to decide things. Mona was her Division Head, and she trusted her. Now the only thing she had to do was to think of good excuses to the difficult assignments.
"Tough one, indeed" she said to herself as she walked to and fro "Muggles aren't stupid. They won't believe if we say it was their imagination, especially if it wasn't just one sighting." shighing loudly, she bit her lip. "Maybe... themed air shows? that wouldn't explain the fire, though. And we can't excuse it as a problem in the engines or something along those lines; It would cause panic." It seems that assignment would be a lot harder than the ones they had done before | |
