The door to the Minister's office is heavy wood and quite imposing. Aside from being a carved masterpiece detailing the history of the founding of the Ministry of Magic, it was also charmed with innumberable spells intended to provide the man or woman inside the office with privacy and safety. It had worked, too, as no Minister had been killed or spied on within these walls in years. Outside of these walls... that was a totally different story.

Once inside the office, the furniture was dark wood and forest green leather. It was a somber place, but very dignified and important. The desk was massive, wrought with brass detailing and a variety of drawers with several locks each. The plate on the desk had scrolling letters:

Brennan A. Cooper, Minister of Magic

The most significant aspect of the office, though, was that it had the traditional magnificent view associated with a man of such rank. Two large windows looked out over the city. It took a careful eye to realize that the first view of London was much higher than any building should be, especially considering the office was underground. The second view revealed itself to not even be a view of London at all. It was Paris, as the Eiffel Tower was visible in the distance.

Brennan waited a moment before he threw the contents of his desk at the far wall. "Taylor! I need The Girl to clean my office."

Reagan hurried into the Minister's office and closed the door quietly behind her. To the Minister's request, Reagan replied quickly, "I'll send her in to clean it while you have lunch with Ms. Belle in the conference room." Reagan knew poor Bella had enough to do already, but she'd just have to find a way to make it happen. Reagan continued with the Minister, "Speaking of which, Ms. Belle has arrived and is waiting for you in my office. Shall I send her in here or would you prefer to meet her out there? And, I have not yet gotten a chance to meet with her about the details of the wedding, but I have asked Ms. Belle if there is a time when I can arrange to meet with her about such things, so I assure you that it will get done."

"I don't want to stare at this sty a moment longer," Brennan lurched to his feet and took several long steps to the door. "Has the invitation already gone to my sister? I find that I've changed my mind."

Reagan confirmed, "Then I'll send Bella in to take care of it right away. As for the invitation, it has not yet gone out to your sister. I was waiting to speak with Ms. Belle about the color scheme before finalizing any invitations. Shall I tell the liaison to the Department of Magical Education to cancel the task and inform the Department Head that her involvement is no longer needed?"

"If it can be undone, then let's undo it. Now, you said she's in the conference room?" He bowed shortly and exited his office with long strides.

Reagan stood in her spot a bit perplexed, thinking 'How on earth did the invitation go out when the details haven't been finalized yet? And how am I going to unsend an invitation? I suppose I could come up with a clever lie...' Breaking free from her thoughts, Reagan hurried behind the Minister and responded, "I'll attempt to undo the invitation somehow. As for Ms. Belle, she is sitting in the waiting area of my office, not yet in the conference room. I wasn't sure if you'd prefer to escort her to the conference room and didn't want her to be waiting at an empty table. And I'll check to see if the caterer has arrived with the food."

OOC: Oops! Don't know how that happened... lol!

Elijah came and knocked on the door. He was hoping the Minister was in ... with everything that happened in the Locked Room, he had to handle the situation carefully. Leaning against the wall, he waited anxiously. The wrong move could make everything end up in a disaster.

Reagan quickly scurried over the man, thanking Merlin that the Minister wasn't in his office. She spoke quickly, "The Minister is not in his office at the moment. He's in a lunch meeting. But perhap I can help you with something? Oh, and for future reference, if you ever need to see the Minister, I'll need you to stop at my desk first so that I can announce your arrival."

"Ah, sorry about that," Elijah nodded, half-distracted. Nothing personal against the Minister, but this was important. He was almost shuffling from foot to foot, he was so rushed to tell him.

"There was an accident of sorts in the Department of Mysteries, it needs to be handled immediatley. The Minister would like to know. Do you know, perhaps, where he'll be after his meeting?"

Elijah didn't not want to tell the woman - he just knew if the wrong people found out about the situation, it wouldn't be perceived well.

Upon hearing mention of an accident in the Department of Mysteries, Reagan's eyes grew large and she let out a soft, "Oh dear." She was quite aware of the powerful magic that the Mysteries Department dealt with and any accident there was never good. She spoke quickly and quietly, not wanting anyone else to be able to hear their conversation, "The Minister's lunch meeting should be coming to close quite soon and he'll be returning back to his office shortly thereafter. Why don't you take a seat in my office and as soon as he returns, I'll let him know you've come to see him on a very important matter."

"Thank you so much," he said softly. He appreciated that she understood the situation; few would handle it as she did. With a polite nod of the head, he exited and headed towards her office, hoping for the Minister to arrive soon.

Brennan seated himself at the desk, ready for Wright to tell him all about the next big disaster he needed to handle. Honestly, everyone here was hopeless.

Elijah coolly approached the Minister's door and followed him inside. Once he'd had time to compose himself, he'd begun to look at the situation in a new light. Fascinated by the whole ordeal, he nodded firmly to show he was ready to begin explaining. "There was an accident in the Locked Room. The storage room was burst open; the Division Head, Kirk, was smothered in the contents ... and hasn't been seen since."

He stared intently at the Minister, who looked overworked and in need of sleep. What were they going to do?

"And what system do you have in place to get this right? What resources are you here to beg from me? I expect each department to regulate itself. If you cannot handle this situation..." He left the implications in the air. Let the man sweat.

"That's not the issue and you know it," Elijah growled. There was no time today for the Minister's games, despite how ready or unready the Department of Mysteries was for this. "We have a man missing due to our top secret organizations; what are we supposed to tell his family? The press? We can't explain what goes on in there without giving away things we don't want everyone else to know."

By this point, his arms were firmly crossed in defiance. Elijah had already taken care of the Division the best he could with Kirk's absence, but rumors would start. This could, and would, mean bad exposure for the Ministry of Magic.

Elijah shook his head, taken aback. His mouth gaped open a little bit. "What?" What did that have to do with anything? He tried not to become furious. "Congratulations, Minister, really. But... what about my Division?"

"Clara Belle. Beautiful woman. Strong and independent. Editor-in-Chief of the Daily Prophet. I don't really worry about bad publicity anymore. As for the man's family... what do you know? Wife? Children? How much money will make this go away? You've done the research surely."

Ah...it clicked. "So pretend it didn't happen?"

His eyes narrowed, but he knew it was the right choice. "No report to the Department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes? What if he comes back? And what to tell the employees that saw him vanish?"

Elijah wasn't one for deception, but growing up in the Ministry, and working in the most secretive department, he figured he should maybe start getting used to it. Another question lingering in the back of his mind had to be asked, too. "What if this is the start of something more serious? It wouldn't be the first time it's happened."

"If you have a recurring issue, then you have a problem. Do what needs to be done to prevent it from happening. Shut down the division. Double up security measures." He tapped his fingers. "Send the report, though, and call it an unforseeable accident. Word it so that it sounds like a freak that shouldn't have happened an will never happen again. We'll make sure it gets buried in red tape. Tell your staff that we're handling it and working for their good. Make them feel comforted. Offer them all a small bonus if they make some noise."

He shut his eyes as he listened to his words, and then nodded once more. "Yes, sir." A million different things raced through his head as he slowly headed back out the door. "It will be handled, and promptly. I'll owl you once the Division reopens, all right?"

He bit his lip as he turned and shook the Minister's hand good-bye; maybe, hopefully, it could smooth over as easily as Brennan made it sound. Elijah hoped so.

Reagan had completely bypassed her own desk and headed straight for the Minister's office door. She knocked twice to let him know she was entering and then opened the door. She briskly entered the office and informed the Minister, "I've just finished my meeting with Ms. Belle and nearly all the details are settled but one. She has left the decision of the honeymoon location to you, hoping it to be a surprise. So where would you like to take Ms. Belle on your honeymoon? I'll make the arrangements straight away once you tell me exactly where and if you plan to leave right from the wedding reception."

"Excellent, Taylor. I want reservations at the Krup's Paw Bed and Breakfast for the evening after the reception. Buy out the entire place. I don't want any other guests to detract from our service. I want a two week reservation at Walford's Wizarding Resort in Egypt. We'll need a full suite on the Nile and spa treatments for Clara."
