The door to the Minister's office is heavy wood and quite imposing. Aside from being a carved masterpiece detailing the history of the founding of the Ministry of Magic, it was also charmed with innumberable spells intended to provide the man or woman inside the office with privacy and safety. It had worked, too, as no Minister had been killed or spied on within these walls in years. Outside of these walls... that was a totally different story.

Once inside the office, the furniture was dark wood and forest green leather. It was a somber place, but very dignified and important. The desk was massive, wrought with brass detailing and a variety of drawers with several locks each. The plate on the desk had scrolling letters:

Brennan A. Cooper, Minister of Magic

The most significant aspect of the office, though, was that it had the traditional magnificent view associated with a man of such rank. Two large windows looked out over the city. It took a careful eye to realize that the first view of London was much higher than any building should be, especially considering the office was underground. The second view revealed itself to not even be a view of London at all. It was Paris, as the Eiffel Tower was visible in the distance.

Brennan did glance up then, his look hard and unforgiving. "I suggest you leave my office, then, Branxton. It's obvious you won't take my good will gesture, and I can't abide you speaking of things you don't know about." He stood, almost as if a gesture of politeness, but his hand was in his robe.

As an afterthought, he added, "Give my love to Cassandra and the girls. She has enough to worry about, so I don't think she needs to know about this conversation."

"And what of your plans for Hogwarts?" Doyle asked. Cooper's gesture not going unnoticed, Doyle's hand also slipped into his robes, grasping his wand. "Can we not put aside our misunderstanding of our relationships for business or are we still nothing more than a couple of schoolboys?"

"You act as if you are the only one at Hogwarts who wants her job, even if you deny that you want it. You aren't... and others don't have the need to be scrupulous as you do. I intend to exert my influence at Hogwarts, with or without your help." He let go of his wand and sat again. "But I can be reasonable." That charming smile reappeared.

Doyle relaxed his grip on his wand and decided that if Cooper was going to do this with or without him, he'd rather it happen with him. He could, at the very least, tell Cassandra what was going on and what to expect. "What is it exactly that you want me to do?"

"Start with a review of the curriculum. Is it age appropriate and Ministry-approved? I want your honest opinion... is Cassandra able to do her job? She has two small children with her all the time. Is she running our school into the ground? Keep an eye on her and report back to me."

"Written and oral?" Doyle asked for clarification. He didn't like this one bit and suspected that if he didn't give a poor report, Cooper would find someone who would.

"You can owl me if your... teaching duties get to be too much for you," Cooper grinned and offered his hand across the table. "I'll be expecting to hear from you soon, Doyle. Can't tell you what your help means to me."

"I'm sure," Doyle responded with a frown as he clasped hands with Cooper and shook. "Think about the visit, even under the guise of the Minister going to inspect the school."

"Tell her to set up an appointment with Miss Marin for lunch in Diagon Alley. At the new place down by Gringott's..." He couldn't remember the name, but it was very exclusive. Surely the Minister of Magic and the Headmistress of Hogwarts could get in.

"I will, thank you, Minister. If that is all, there are some things I need to attend to here before heading back to the school," Doyle said by way of asking permission to leave without actually asking for permission as he stood.

"Of course, Doyle. You're dismissed," Brennan picked up his quill again, his attention on his desk top.

Mackenzie knocked on the Minister's door and awaited his response. Mackenzie felt guilty for disturbing him once again, but he was quite the popular person today! Everyone wanted to see him for one reason or another and as such, she was required to let him know so. Even still, she hoped he wouldn't be too angry for her presence in his office yet again.

"Ah, Marin... good." Brennan crumpled up a bit of parchment and threw it in the trashcan. "I need to get back to Miss Belle regarding the press conference. Can you give me an update on how those arrangements are going?"

Mackenzie entered the Minister's office again and approached his desk. Getting to business promptly, Mackenzie answered, "Actually, sir, I have updates on several matters. In regards to the press conference, I sent that memo to Verona Nikoletti but have not yet received a return memo providing a time for the conference. Without that time, I have been unable to discuss with the cafeteria the catering arrangements, though I have been writing down ideas for the variety of foods we could have brought up to the conference room. Although, would you happen to know any of Ms. Belle's favorite foods? Perhaps any foods she had eaten at previous press conferences? I want to ensure that she is pleased with everything we offer her, whether it be food or information. Secondly, I received return letter from Madam Malkin's about your private fitting. Ms. Goldlin has said that she can either close down her shop to the public early tomorrow afternoon so that you may go there to have your fitting done privately anytime between 2-5pm, or she has graciously offered to come to you, here at the Ministry, if you so wish any time after 2pm. She had left the choice up to you. Thirdly, you have more people who wish to see you regarding their memos. First to arrive was Ms. Lia Black, liaison to the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures, and also Mr. Gerald Young is back with his second completed memo. How would you like me to send them in?"

"You can send both Black and Young in at the same time. No need to see them one by one. I'll stop by Malkin's on my own time tomorrow, so tell Goldlin to hold me a spot at 4:30." He scratched his chin and considered the catering issue. "I'm sure whatever you decide for the press conference will be sufficient, but keep in mind that it should be snacks and cold beverages, rather than elaborate food. Just something to munch on while we're chatting and having the photographs done." He'd have to prompt Nikoletti to hurry up on her response himself.

Mackenzie nodded to each of the Minister's requests. "I'll send word to Ms. Goldlin right away, sir, and I'll continue to develop the list of snacks and beverages until I hear back from Nikoletti. I'll send Ms. Black and Mr. Young in right away." With that said, Mackenzie turned from the Minister's desk and walked to the door. Opening it quickly but not fully, Mackenzie slid through the opening and exited Minister Cooper's office.

Gerald entered the room again along with Lia Black and his warm "Excuse me Sir". It was his second visit since his posting. He gave a smile to him and said, " Sir, the second memo to the Department of Magical Sports and Games, reagarding the brooms endorsement is waiting for your approval. If you give the green signal I'll send it immediately". He handed over the MEMO to the Minister.
"And we're not yet received the reply to our first memo from that department so far. If you want me to visit in person to know the reason, I'll do it", he quickly summed up his statement.

Lia Black entered shily with Gerald Young and waited for him to finish his statement.She was kind of new,so she was hoping she didn't do anything wrong.As hard as she tried to act as cool as Gerald,it didn't actually do anything for her.
"Hello Sir.I too,finished my memo for the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures.Here."she said smiling and handing the memo to the Minister.His blue eyes were quite intimidating,but they were almost the same color as hers.This coincidence was somehow giving her confidence.

Brennan read both of the memos with some impatience. What was taking Nikoletti so long? Clara would want her press conference, whether they cooperated fully or not. "No, no..." He shook his head, ready to reject both memos without giving them more than a basic glance.

After a moment, he flattened the sheets against the desk, giving them a quick look-over. "Yes, these are satisfactory. Please continue to follow up on all memos we haven't heard back on."

"Okies,sir."Lia Black said and bowed.She took the memo back and got out to deliver it.The mInister seemed quite disturbed,she wanted to help him,but she didn't think it was apropiate.

Just after Ms. Black exited the Minister's office, Mackenzie knocked on the slightly ajar door and peeked her head in to the office. "Sir, you have more people requesting your attention. Firstly, Ms. Rhiannon Knight, the Death Chamber Division head is here to see you concerning an urgent matter that has presented itself in the Department of Mysteries. Also, Susan Peters, the liaison to the Department of Magical Transportation, has arrived to discuss a memo. Finally, I sent again the interoffice memorandum directly to Verona Nikoletti's office, instead of her inbox, but it doesn't seem to have attracted her attention either. How would you like me to proceed with this matter?"

"We'll have to set up the meeting with Miss Belle from the Prophet without the Department of Law Enforcement. I must say that I am disappointed in their participation in this highly time sensitive matter." He shook his head, still feeling irritable over his meeting with Branxton. "Send Ms. Knight in, and you are welcome to check over that memo to Transportation for me. If all looks well, send it on. I'll look at it if you have any questions."

Mackenzie nodded as Minister Cooper gave his instructions on each of the three matters. In response to the first, Mackenzie asked, "How shall I contact Ms. Belle and when would you prefer I schedule the press conference?" Mackenzie could sense the Minister's disappointment regarding the Department of Law Enforcement's lack of involvement in this important matter. She, too, felt disappointed and slightly irritated that people would neglect certain aspects of their job. Of course, Mackenzie tried not to show her emotions and made her face completely unreadable. In response to the second and third matters, Mackenzie replied, "I'll send Ms. Knight in and I'll get right on proofreading that memo." Mackenzie waited by the door for the Minister's response to her question before she would send in the Unspeakable from the Department of Mysteries.
