Isabella walked into the break room for the second floor. She hoped she wouldn't get in trouble for exploring. She wanted to know her way around.

Warren looked up when a man entered and sat down to smoke a pipe. He nodded to the man as he was given the thumbs up and decided to walk over and get to know someone. He sat down across from him and set down his cup, "Hi, I'm Warren."

Egypt cast a cold eye on the guy who started up his pipe in the office. There wasn't any smoking allowed in the Ministry. She was itching to send a freezing charm straight at his pipe. That would serve him right. She gave him another cold stare and returned her attention back to her magazine. She didn't really have to be in the office today.

Nathan sauntered into the breakroom, hands shoved in pockets. He needed a break after yet another hectic morning. He got himself a mug of foul coffee and pinched a biscuit from the tin someone had left there. He sniffed the air. “Odd.” He thought. He looked over at a couple of blokes he’d never seen before… smoking pipes! He’d seen it all now. “Unbelievable.” He thought. “Er… excuse me.” He said casually yet friendlily. “There’s no smoking in here. I think you’d need to take it outside.” He nodded in the direction of the door.

Warren looked up at the man who had approached and had asked them? I wouldn't be caught dead smoking. To stop smoking. He frowned slightly it never had bothered him much but then again he had spent so much time with the Russian's he was used to it. "Maybe you should put it out." Warren told the man he had sat across from. "Wouldn't want to start a fight now would we." Though his eyes said differently, it had been awhile since he was in a good fight but then again most didn't try him since he looked so intimidating.

Nathan was taken aback by the man’s words. ‘A fight?’ He raised an eyebrow. He was just giving the man a friendly warning. Nathan was hardly the type to go around looking for fights – that incident in the Raven’s Claw had been a complete one off. He saw the look in the man’s eyes – ‘well this isn’t good.’ He thought. He looked the older man up and down, deciding it would probably best to continue along the friendly route… because friendly was what Nathan did best. He couldn’t abide conflict. “Nathan Greenwood, MLES.” He introduced himself extending his hand in welcoming. “Are you two new around here?” He asked looking at both men. Least Nathan could swing a mean muggle style right hook if it became necessary... which it wouldn't... he hoped.

He glanced around the room and grinned when he spotted Egypt, looking very bored and unimpressed. “That there’s Egypt Riddle.” He pointed to the pretty petite African woman. “My better half. She works in the Wizengamot.” He gestured for her to come join them. It was about time she made some friends in the Ministry… if these men decided to be friendly that was. The poor woman couldn’t spend her entire time around Nathan. He would eventually drive her bananas.

Warren looked up at Nathan and smirked, Boy, old man you need to get your head on straight. After all this isn't Russia anymore. Warren shook his head slightly to clear it and extended his hand. "Warren Rodemiere, Auror. Sorry about my friend here I'm sure he didn't know." As a matter of fact Warren didn't even know his name. Warren looked over his shoulder and nodded invitingly at the women Nathan had called Egypt.

Nathan shook the man’s hand and inwardly breathed a sigh of relief. This fella was a lot bigger…and broader than Nate. Judging by that scar by his eye, he looked like he was used to getting into brawls. “Pleased to meet you, mate.” Nathan replied as he studied the man. ‘Another Auror?’ The Ministry seemed to be breeding them…. And they were getting bigger, and scarier.

Warren’s physical appearance maybe intimidating but he seemed friendly enough. “Mind if I sit?” Nathan asked, plonking himself down before he received an answer. He dunked his stolen biscuit in his coffee, hoping that it hadn’t belonged to Warren – be great to be used as target practice over stealing a custard cream.

“I’m sure he didn’t.” Nathan said looking at the other man. “Just thought I’d warn him before any of the heads walked in.” He smirked at the other man.

“Been an Auror long?” Nathan asked Warren conversationally and sipped at his coffee.

Nicoli burst out laughing. He couldn't help it. Obviously, there was something more to the strained times when they met, but for him, of all people to ask such a question? It was amazing. Was Forrester trying to take over his job? No. Was he acting like he was above Nicoli? Yes. But he wasn't going to say that outright. Not yet anyway.

"True," he said, recovering from his laughing fit. "Some of the cases in particular come into both of our fields. Not to mention we're both short of staff. Some seem to think it's alright to be fashionably late for work."

Nicoli nodded. He should have known. He had a chance to relax for a while in any case, which he did, sinking into one of the armchairs and sipping the coffee. At least he didn't use the stuff they had here. The Conjured Coffee was much, much better.

Elwood exhaled a perfect smoke ring, then dumped and cleaned his pipe.
"I'm sorry, I didn't see the sign." he said standing up and extending his right hand, "I'm Elwood Blues, an Auror."

"Yes I'm Alexa Black" She said. Staring him straight in the eye.
"You needed me?" Across the room she caught sight of her smoking fiend-Elswood, getting a harsh reprimand from the other departments. SHe smiled. This was going to be an interesting year.

"It's my first day here, but I've been an Auror for about twenty years. I worked in Russia and Germany for a time." Warren picked up his coffee and took a sip, "How about you? Been working here long?"

Warren extended his hand. "Warren Rodemiere, also an Auror."

“Twenty years?” Nathan whistled. “That’s a long time.” Nearly as long as Nathan had been on this planet in fact. “You must have seen some eye opening stuff in your time.” He commented, secretly wanting to hear the gory details. "Me? I'm fairly new here too. This is my first job in Law."

He looked over at the other man and smiled as he cleaned his pipe. Nate felt a little guilty but he knew for a fact that smoking was not allowed on Ministry property. Better to be warned by Nathan rather than one of the heads of department.

He turned his attention back two the two men. "Have you always wanted to work in law enforcement? Or did you have a secret desire that never pulled through?" Warren sighed at the thought remembering his dream of becoming a quidditch player that had almost come true.

Egypt hadn't seen Nathan walk in, she was too busy being upset about the man smoking, but she wasn't one to dig into people unlike her sisters. She stood up and walked over to Nathan smiling. "Hello gentlemen," She said giving them a smile, and extending her hand to both of them. "Welcome to level two."

She gave the man a raised eyebrow, she didn't like how he looked at her. "Yes I'm Nathan's better half," She said with a small smile to drive home the fact to Warren that she was taken.

Warren smiled, "So he has told me. Don't worry, I'm no threat." He gave her a wink so that she would loosen up a bit. "I'm Warren Rodemiere by the way."

“I may take you up on that offer.” He nodded. When he needed an excuse to escape the hectic MLES office anyway. Looking at posters of convicted felons was Nathan’s idea of a great time… not. Warren obviously wasn’t going to give away any of the details of what he’d had to deal with in the past.

“No.” he replied. “I wanted to work with magical creatures actually… dragons.” To be precise. “I spent some time doing voluntary work with them… but it lead to nothing. It’s a job in demand. Besides.” He shrugged. “The pay’s terrible. …It was either that or run a muggle bar in Australia.” Yep… and drink all the profits while he was at it. “What about yourself?” He asked Warren.

Nate smiled at Egypt. “Hello love.” He said, gesturing for her to sit next to him. He noticed how she reacted to Warren and thought it was a little strange… was he missing something here? And then Warren winked at her! ...Did he see that right? Nah. No way. lack of sleep was obviously getting to him. He kissed her cheek and pulled her into a one armed hug leaving his arm around her …just in case. “How has work been this morning?” he asked her.

Warren chuckled to himself, sure he hadn't been with anyone in...well awhile...but surely they couldn't think he would break up their relationship. That wasn't his style anyway. "Actually, I wanted to be a quidditch player. Almost made it too, until a bludger incident blew my chances." He pointed at the scar by his eye that still looked wicked despite the years it's been, "that's were I acquired this nice souvenir." Sure he had several scars from his Auror days but most people don't see those first.

“Quidditch?” Nathan repeated brightly removing his arm from Egypt - he was being paranoid. He winced as the man pointed to his scar. “Ouch. Nasty.” He said. Nathan had just assumed the scar a side effect that came with being an Auror.

“I used to play beater on the school team… was captain in my final year, but I was no where near professional standard.” Nathan too, had suffered a nasty blow to the head by a bludger. It earned him a few days in the hospital wing - his last game ever and he missed it. ..But he didn’t want to bore Egypt with that particular story again. “Do you play at all these days?” he asked the older man.

Warren winced slightly, "Ah, no. After I was out for three months and missed the beginning of the season, which meant I didn't get drafted as I had hoped, I never had the heart to try again. Not to mention I now have an aversion to things flying at my head." It was this aversion that had really kept Warren from playing again.

She smiled at he talked about dragons, he loved them so much. It was a shame he didn't get to work with them like he wanted to do. She leaned in and accepted his kiss on the cheek.

She sat and listened to them talk about quidditch. She was never played for her school, even though she was a good chaser. Her sisters were crazy about quidditch more than she was.

Forrester was a fascinating guy and he quickly breifed her on all the rules and regulations about the job. He left her in peace and she walked across the room towards Warren.
"Long time no see..." She stared at him in her usual mysterious way before sitting down. He was sitting with several people. A petite afrcican woman who was encircled in a hug by one young man. Alexa conjured up a chair and sat down

Warren glanced up as he saw Alexa walk toward him. "Alexa, haven't seen you in awhile. This here is Egypt, Nathan and Elwood." He smiled handsomely at Alexa, "What have you been up to lately?"

He was exactly how she had remembered him. The rough around the edges look. His charming smile almost caught her, but she was older--wiser now. She offered her hand.
"Training. Studying hard. How about you? Last time I heard from Susan she said you were out cold in a hospital bead. She said you'd gotten into a nasty duel with a serial killer."
She politely shook hands with Nathan, Egypt and Elswood the pipe smoking auror. She was so curious about what Warren had been doing since the time she'd last seen him that she wasn't as inclined to talk to Egypt althought the woman seemed quite comfortable in the hands of Nathan.

Warren shook his head, he had forgotten that, of course he had forgotten much of that encounter. "Ahh...yes the Yolesha case. I don't remember much about that actually. Probably for the best Robert, my partner at the time, said it wasn't a pretty sight to see. Apparently I came out on top in that one, albeit rather the worse for the wear. Acquired a new scar here now." He pointed to his chest just below the rib cage.
"I've moved back, obviously, decided I liked London a lot better. Now I get to play newbie in the Auror's office. What are you studying and training for?" He still couldn't believe that she was here but then again he shouldn't be all that surprised, she always was a strong one. Part of the reason he had been attracted to her in the first place.
