"No, no it's fine really" Alexa smiled this time truthfully. She didn't care anymore. He didn't obviously so why should she.
"I'm going to go get my files.....I should probably start doing my job" She got up and walked out of the room. She didn't realise she'd forgotten something.

Warren watched as Alexa took a sip of her coffee. He looked into her eyes and sighed inwardly. He had always loved her eyes. When Cassandra broke the tension with a question he pulled his look away and turned to Cassandra about to answer when Alexa beat him to it. He watched open mouthed as Alexa fled from the room. He looked down at the table and saw a notebook lying open on it. He thought he had seen Alexa writing in it and, figuring it was hers, picked it up with the intention of returning it when he noticed the writing on the page and read it.

His heart fell to his stomach a the words on the page. He stood up and looked at Cassandra, "I'm sorry...I...I have to go." With that he sped out of the break room to find Alexa.

Cassie opened her mouth to talk to Alexa but didn't get a chance to say anything as she ran from the breakroom. She looked at Warren, confusion showing on her face as he picked something up and read it. She looked at him and before she could even say anything, he left as well. Letting out a sigh, Cassie sat down at one of the tables and continued to drinking her coffee, thinking that the new aurors were, well, weird.

Egypt's hand was cramping from all the files she had to update, so she wandered into the break room. Nathan must be working, she thought to herself and as she looked over at the chair that he was usually asleep in. she saw a few people she didn't know as she walked over to the couch and sat down on it rubbing some ointment on her cramping hand

Alexa walked into breakroom, utterly calm after her spaz earlier. She saw Egypt and smiled at her as she walked into the room. Walking over to the coffee maker she poured herself a double shot black, no sugar and sat down. Spreading out her work she quietly began working in the silence of the room.

Warren stormed into the breakroom. Crazy old bat. He walked over and poured himself some coffee, not paying the slightest attention to who was in there and sat down in a corner by himself and picked up a copy of the Daily Prophet that was left on the table, though he knew that he wouldn't be able to focus on it. And now Alexa's mad...why I have no idea. It's not like I had a choice in the matter, if I had I wouldn't have stayed to watch the crazy old witch. Ruined my shoes... He looked down at his shoes and frowned.

Alexa finished the coffee, draining the last dregs from the bottom of the glass. The letter on the files were looking more mundane by the second. So she got up and went to get another glass. She put in the sugar and walked back, reading through a newspaper someone left on the bench. She choked on the coffee. The Ministry had put through more laws about the schools. Alexa sighed. Honestly.....
She sat back down, intently reading the paper. She had no idea who else was in the breakroom.

Warren looked up as he heard someone choking and saw Alexa sitting there reading a newspaper. He grabbed the Daily Prophet that he had not been reading and his still full coffee, and headed over to sit across from her. "Anything interesting?" He said quietly.

Beth walked into the breakroom and got a scone and some tea and put it on a plate and sat down to enjoy her break, the crime scene investigation was a nightmare and her suspect was being a pain.

Jake entered the breakroom, running his hands through his hair, todays newspaper under his arm. He swallowed, before getting himself a cup of coffee and looked around, before slipping into a seat, exhausted.

He twisted the wedding band on his finger nervously as he set the coffee and the paper down, before sighing and opening the paper, taking a sip of the hot liquid. He needed a break, despite not having done much. He was stressed to his limit.

"Hello," Beth said softly to the man who sat across from her. "I'm Beth Dumont." She introduced herself.

Startled at the sound of a female voice, Jake looked up, placing his cup back on the table. He nodded at the woman. 'Jake Samuels,' he replied after she introduced herself. He stopped his hand from spinning the ring further, sliding it under the table in the hope she wouldn't see or ask. 'Nice to meet you, Beth.'

"You look like you could use a friend." She mentioned softly. Her expression grew soft. She felt kind of lonely, which was easy to do when your spouse was a professor and gone for months at a time and with the new stupid rules about not being able to visit.

Use a friend? For a moment, Jake's cool facade slipped. He swallowed hard, turning his green gaze from Beth, his hand toying with the ring beneath the table again. 'It depends what you think I need the friend for.' So maybe he wasn't as cold as he was to anyone else, but this Beth had hit a nerve that not many had discovered. Not that he socialised a lot.

"I mean as a legitimate friend, someone to hang out with, talk to. Nothing more." She smiled. "I don't know what it is but something about you strikes a chord in me, I sense someone very cool who just needs a friend."

Jake raised his drink to his lip, swallowing several sips in one, ignoring the heat. Been a long time since you've had one of those, he thought as he drank. After a long moment, he looked up at Beth again. 'It's been a while,' he admitted. 'But as to what strikes a chord, and "someone very cool who needs a friend", well . . .'

What would he answer? He swallowed again, taking a mouthful of his drink. 'Tell me a bit about yourself.' Time to change the topic.

Beth smiled. "well I'm Beth Dumont, probably the youngest Auror here, soon to be a mother for the first time. My husband Antonio is Muggle studies professor at Cooper's, I like chocolate frogs and Old muggle movies. what else would you like to know?" She said softly.

'So how old are you?' he asked, curious. She couldn't be the younger auror; it took a lot of guts to be an auror, and most people under a certain age, he'd found, couldn't manage. Then again, he hadn't managed to keep a job for more than a month, so he couldn't really say.

A mother for the first time? Again, he swallowed hard, before taking a long sip from his drink and making it look as if he was thinking. The past three years had taught him how to quickly hide it when his stony face slipped. 'Cooper's?' he asked, confused. Wasn't it Hogwarts?

He shrugged at the question. 'Anything.' So long as it keeps the attention off myself.

"I'm 23 and Antonio was hired for Hogwarts, but then Minister Cooper and his beloved wife Clara Belle decided to close Hogwarts and split up the boys and girls and as I understand it they haven't even had a Hogsmeade weekend this term and things are just odd." Beth rubbed her slightly swollen belly. "So what do you do around here?" she asked.

Alexa felt Warren's presence and quietly turned to look at him. She composed herself letting none of her previous anger show and started to reply.
"Oh, the ministry's just reinstated some Education Decreee's" She said breezily. She cleared herthroat. He looked rather awkward and Alexa smiled, checking her watch.
"Oh shoot!" She whispered. "I think Edward was looking forme...." She said dismissively. And then turned to leave, leaving the paper on the desk.

Egypt walked back into the break room. She was tired and her feet hurt. they were swollen and her back was hurting. She put her hand on her pregnant stomach and went to the fridge to get her food.

Warren looked at Alexa and at her cool manner. He was about to say something when Alexa left hurriedly out of the break room. But I was just with Edward... Warren watched her walk away and was tempted to go after her. He sighed and turned to face the wall opposite him. Blight it. Glancing down he noticed she left the paper on the table. He picked it up and without a second thought walked out of the breakroom.

Beth looked up at a girl she didn't know. "Hi. You look tired. Why don't you come join us. I'd stand but getting up is a little hard after the 6th month." She gestured to her belly.

Egypt glanced over at the woman as she pulled a covered bowl of raspberries out of the fridge. She smiled at her, "Thank you." She walked over and sat down in the chair across from her. "Well its only my fifth month, but these are my 4th and 5th children so I used to it." She laughed.

"I am Egypt Greenwood." She introduced.

"Hi I'm Beth Dumont." Beth introduced herself, "And this is my first one. My husband is a professor and the thing I miss most is the foot rubs." She admitted.
