Reagan saw Elijah's face and it was so adorably priceless that she almost laughed right then and there. Almost. The corners of her lips twitched a bit, but she tried her hardest not to smile and managed fairly well. She asked, "What part of it do you think a legend? I firmly believe the Old Magic played a significant role in his defeat of Voldemort. Now, whether or not that power can be harnessed, I'm not sure. It seems that I've always done pretty poorly at harnessing love; it usually just takes over me and-" Reagan realized she was rambling, and about LOVE no less!

Trying to get back to where she'd intended the conversation to go, Reagan continued, "Even if the legend is not true, I still think that the power of love might be strong enough magic to use as a protection. And even if it does take years, I don't see that as any reason not to try. Every invention needs to start somewhere! Can you imagine if your Department and our Ministry were responsible for creating the most amazing protective gear in the world?

"But beyond that, the reason I think it necessary is to protect our Law Enforcement team and Aurors, and of course, the Minister. Think about all these foreign Ministers who will be coming to our Ministry soon and all the foottraffic that will be coming through the Ministry. All the worry we have to deal with that someone might try to harm our Minister? It would be nice to have the comfort of knowing he was safe..." Reagan trailed off. She didn't know what else to say and was beginning to wonder if she should have even bothered bringing it up in the first place.

"Mmm," he nodded, listening to each of her points. She was very right. With the Ministers pouring in, and so soon, they were each set to be targets... no matter how many Aurors were to be on the scene, that many people in such high ranking positions... it was dangerous. It wouldn't be the first time safety was mentioned at a convention. Not to say anything was going to happen, but it was always better to be safe than sorry, especially during a time like this.

Looking her over seriously, he suddenly jumped and strode across the room to his bookshelf. Reaching into the back, he pulled out a small, dusty box. Walking slowly back to his desk, he placed it in front of her, a few of the particles falling off in protest.

"If we were to put the love into something large, we'd have to worry about wizards from the Dark side acquiring it, and taking our idea... So say we could harness the power into something small, something that can stay hidden. Like..." he lifted the lid off. "A locket?"

Gently he pulled the gold-encrusted heart off of its velvety surface. It shone in the bright lights of the office, revealing the ruby centerpiece. He rubbed his thumb against it thoughtfully... could it be done? Could they really save a life with something so tiny? He even doubted the idea a little, but the wheels in his head were turning. It had to be possible...

Reagan stared at his facial expression as he reflected over her proposal and was startled when he jumped up from his seat. Her eyes followed him to his bookcase and back to his desk and finally laid upon the dusty box. As he spoke, Reagan kept her eyes on the box, curious as to what it held and eager to see what would be in front of her once opened.

Hearing the word 'locket', Reagan's eyes grew large as she looked over the vibrant ruby and shiny gold. She spoke quietly, more to herself than to Elijah, "Oh my, it is absolutely beautiful." Regaining her train of thought, Reagan added, "I don't object to the type of item we place it, though I think many of the male aurors may object to wearing such a feminine locket!" Reagan laughed lightly and continued, "But perhaps using a small object would be best. And maybe something a bit less conspicuous. Someone might want to steal something so beautiful just because of its beauty, and then they'll have access to such a power they would never have imagined. But if we put it into something so often ignored, like perhaps dull cuff links for the men, and maybe a less beautiful object for the women? Though for experimental purposes, the locket should work quite well."

She was quite right. "Cuff links, I never would've thought of that... I just thought, love, locket, it made sense... What about for the women... a necklace, or a bracelet?"

He picked at the sleeves of his shirt. He was getting antsy to see what the Division could come up with. He suspected, silently, that Kirk would be spewing out ideas the moment he presented the idea.

"So did you think of this yourself?" he asked Reagan, studying her. Whoever she was, really, she was ingenious. There was something quite different about her that he didn't understand, which was odd; he could normally figure out a person in a matter of minutes, if not seconds. He fidgeted with his arm more, trying to figure out what he couldn't understand.

Reagan contemplated Elijah's suggestions and replied, "Either of those certainly could work, but we'd have to be sure to have reinforced clasps to prevent losing them in battle. Another option might be an anklet or something that can be tucked into a sock and therefore not lost? I dunno... Perhaps you and your employees could contemplate the most effective object to channel that energy and power into. You all are certainly much better with these things than I am."

Reagan checked her watch and realized how late it was getting. She stood from her chair as Elijah was asking her a question and she replied with a small smile, "Yes, this was an original thought. It sort of just came to me once I'd heard about the International Conference. I hope something good comes of it." Reagan brushed her bangs from her eyes and then grabbed her briefcase. "Thank you for taking time to meet with me, Mr. Wright. I need to get back to my office, but if you'd like to discuss anything else, feel free to stop by my office on Level One. Please keep me posted as much as you're allowed." Reagan smiled a bit bigger and extended her hand to shake his.

As Isaac neared Elijah's office door, he quickly revised the notes he had taken during the recent conference. If there was one person the liaison felt the need to impress, it was most certainly this man. Stuffing the notes back in his pocket, he knocked at the door and stood back, waiting for a response.

As Elijah reached out to shake her hand, a knock sounded at his door. He briefly took her palm in his, met her eyes, then strode across the room, letting her out and the stranger in.

"Hi," he said, squinting at the man. He looked a bit familiar. Had he seen him around the office? "Can I help you?"

As Isaac made his way into the room, he waved to Miss. Taylor, wondering what she'd come here to do. When she had left, Isaac faced the head of the Department of Mysteries.

"Yes there is," Isaac answered Elijah "two things, in fact." As was his habit, Isaac took a quick glance around the room before speaking. Nothing had changed since the last time he had been here. The young liaison decided it would be best to start with the first, and simplest, of the two things he had been sent to explain. "It has to do with the International Wizarding Conference." he began, "You're probably aware that the Department of Mysteries can't just go around and show off its true activities. That's why the Senior Undersecretary to the Minister of Magic has asked me to tell you that absolutely no foreign minister is to know what happens in the Department of Mysteries... Or that there is a Department of Mysteries." he explained quickly, "Miss. Taylor wants the Department to come up with a new name, and if possible, a backstory as well. I believe she mentioned something along the lines of 'The Department of Peace and Prosperity'... Whatever will do." He looked into Elijah's eyes, making sure the man was catching all the information, before moving on: "If anyone asks any of the employees about the actual activities of this department, the employees are to explain that they are not at liberty to speak of whatever subject has been encountered."

As he finished, Isaac eyed the door, and made sure it was locked. The next thing he was about to discuss had to remain absolutely confidential, for reasons unknown to him. Couldn't just have a snoopy employee walking in the office or listening in on the conversation.

Elijah sat back in his chair, nodding as he listened to the man speak. It hit him: he had met this man before. He'd come into his office, discussing some other important business. Elijah slowly wondered what this man must know about his Department, and to what extent.

"Well, that makes sense," he agreed. It was bad enough liaisons within their own Ministry of Magic seemed to know about his Department; they didn't need the rest of the world involved. "I'll talk to my employees, let them know their Unspeakable-ness is going farther. But really... The Department of Peace and Prosperity?" he scoffed, thinking back to his and Reagan's conversation on the harnessing of Love. "I guess it fits, but it's going to make us sound like Aurors, don't you think?

Shrugging, he caught the man checking the door. "Is there something else, Mr... er ...?" he asked, realizing that if the man had introduced himself, he'd already forgotten his name.

Irene had hurried cautiously from The Brain Room, and stepped quietly up to Mr. Wright's Office. She heard voices from the inside, so she decided not to knock quite yet.

She took a harder grip on her black leather purse, glancing down the corridor almost nervously, anxious.

As Mr. Wright sat down, Isaac too pulled up a chair for himself. "I guess you could go with something even more ridiculous, say..." he thought for a second, "The Department of Nutrition? I don't think anyone would bother to investigate that."

When Elijah struggled with his name, Isaac blushed a slight shade of red. It was foolish of him to have forgotten to introduce himself. Proof that he was overworked. "It's Isaac, Isaac Belko," he finished off "I'm the liaison for your Department, sir." Only then did Isaac realise how little work he had done alongside the Department of Mysteries despite the many months he had spent with the Ministry of Magic.

Finally having introduced himself, the liaison focused once more on the matters at hand: "The minister wants the brain from a previous minister of magic to be investigated. He wants to know of anything relevant, emotions, facts, whatever... That the minister in question might have felt during a past international convention. Once that's been done, Miss Taylor asked that either I, or someone from the brain room bring her a confidential report of the findings." With that, Isaac rested on his chair, relieved he had finally relayed all the information he'd been asked to pass along.

Ah, right! Isaac. The name seemed to smack him in the face once he'd heard it. He should've known that. This man had worked closely with the Department of Mysteries for some time now.

"We've actually been doing something quite... close to this, Isaac," he said, nodding thoughtfully. "I can definitely see what we can have arranged. Can I ask, though... why do they want this done?"

Isaac was surprised that the Brain Room had already been working on such a project as digging into a Minister's brain, but he didn't inquire, knowing all too well what the Deparment of Mysteries stood for.

"I have no idea," Isaac answered, pondering over the question, "they haven't told me. I'm only here to relay the information... I suppose the Minister must be stressed out about the upcoming international conference. He must want to know exactly what's coming at him, because this isn't something he'll want to mess up."

"Mmm," he nodded. "All right. I'll have them adjust the project to what the Minister is looking for. Should I owl you once we have the results, then have you come to my office, or come to you, or...?"

He trailed off, running his fingers through his hair. It had been an exceptionally long week. He, more than anything, needed a break.

Isaac nodded and stood up. After thanking Mr. Wright, he answered: "I suppose owling me would be the simplest way to do it." Before leaving, Isaac smiled at the Department Head, who looked to be under a tremendous amount of pressure. After all, he could only imagine how stressful a position like that would be, not including the fact that everything concerning the department had to remain hidden. No wonder the poor man had forgotten the liaison's name... "Thank you for your time." Isaac said before finally leaving the office.

Irene jumped as the man exited the office, and she stepped up to the door, knocking gently, so the sound would not carry through the hall.

She felt for the jar in her purse, just to make sure it was still there. She didn't know why she was so nervous, all she had to do now was give it to him, right? I mean, how could anyone mess up something like that, right??

Elijah watched the liaison leave and nodded to Irene, who was standing in the door frame. "Come in," he said, trying to relax from the other meeting that just ended. That was a lot to realize... he needed to give it all a good bit of thought, if he could ever have the time to sit back and really think about anything. Why would the Minister want these thoughts? He's glad, at least, he had a division that was fast to reply, and that they'd already been doing this anyway... ahh, the benefits of the Department of Mysteries. "Can I help you?"

Smiling slightly, she approached his desk, but not before shutting the door behind her, "Sir."

Unziping the purse, Irene pulled out the frosted glass jar, which had silver-blue whisps floating inside it. Setting it on the desk carefully, she stepped back a pace, "Do you know what they want to use them for, anyway?"

His eyes widened when he saw the bottle. So they'd really managed to do it? Extraordinary. Slowly, he reached out his hand and clasped it around the vial, hardly hearing what she was saying. This could contain... only who knew what kind of information.

"I believe they just want to use it for studies," he said, plastering on a straight face and clearing his throat. "I really appreciate you pushing to do this in such a timely manner. Did you have any difficulties during the procedure? Anything... odd happen?"

Any occurrence, little or small, could mean something to the Minister. Elijah needed to make sure he had all of his facts straight before going to present it to him.

Irene giggled slightly at his amazement--It was pretty extraordinary.

She thought for a moment...
Ought she to count that? Well...Sure. "Well, sir, I...thought I heard someone speaking, but...it was probably someone out in the corridor." It sounded a bit stupid, but what else could it have been? "You know how these halls echo horribly."

A moment's more thought, and she had a radical idea, pointing to the vial slowly, "You don't suppose...?"

It hit him what she was saying. "Do you mean... it was as if you could hear the thoughts as they were being bottled?"

His palms suddenly became sweaty. What if she heard something the Minister didn't want discovered? This was not a good place to be in... at the same time, it was fascinating. This was the first ever known time that memories had been extracted postmortem, and a side effect like that... His fingers itched to begin to take notes. The Minister was going to love this.

Irene had a bit of a break of character, and whispered "Cool...", before coming back to earth.

"Well, this is the Department of Mysteries, sir, and, as unspeakables, we are all very good at keeping things hidden...If you decide that the...situation at hand is definately not good, we could sweep it under the rug if we wanted to..."

Shifting her weight a bit, she continued her thought, "But, then again, if anyone found out after that, it would be...well, bad." Almost disregarding the idea, she smiled slightly, "I don't think anyone else heard them..."

He nodded thoughtfully. "Don't worry about it. We won't tell anyone that anything happened, besides the Minister, of course, but we don't need to let anyone in on it, either, aye?"

He carefully tucked the vial into his robes. "Thank you so much for retrieving this. You've done excellent."

"Of course.", she winked, smiling slightly.

"Not a problem, sir, I throughly enjoy my work." She nearly rolled her eyes, thinking, Now, how many employees have told their boss THAT, and actually meant it?? "If there's anything more I can do to help...?"

She had that on-a-roll feeling, but as soon as the words came out of her mouth, she knew that if she was him, he'd be thinking something along the lines of Suck up...

The clicking sound of Jimmy Choo's echoed on the floor as Vivienne approached Elijah Wright's office door. In her hand, she had the Ministry memorandum that acknowledged her transfer and promotion to division head of the Death Chamber. Back in France, she had dealt with the French version of the Department of Mysteries on occasion and so it was natural of her to be curious about the duties her new job entailed. Lifting her right hand, she knocked three times on the door and waited to be called inside.
