Counterfeit Defensive Spells and Protective Objects Room Division head: Rebecca Todd (Becky) |
With her light white robes fluttering around her, billowing elegantly and lightly, Melody glided into the office. Desks surrounded her on all sides. She felt right at home; this looked rather like her old classroom, just with cubicals dividing spaces. This suited Mel just fine. Mel loved desk space, and she gazed around hopefully towards the larger cubicals. She wondered if it made a difference where she made home. Hoping that someone would inform her of her accommodations, Melody peered up through her thick and dark lashes. She examined the room astutely. |
Harmony tip-toed into the office. Gasping slightly, she glanced around the room. There were desks everywhere, yet somehow, the room was also full of walking space. She looked up, filing cabinets bigger than her were peering down onto her pale face, as if watching to see if she'd make any mistakes on her first day. Only then did she realize that she was not alone in the room. A girl, not much older than she was, was standing towards the end of the office, drinking in the surroundings as Harmony had been moments ago. (Sorry if I'm doing this completely wrong, I've never roleplayed before and "Peeves" just ruined my post! Twice! ><) |

"Hello there, are you part of the Counterfeit Defensive Spells and Protective Objects team?" Melody's soft, gentle voice called over the distance between the girls. When she had reached the girl, Mel rotated slightly on the spot where she stood. She looked curiously at the girl, who might just be her new co-worker. OOC: No worries. ^.^ Your post was perfect. Congrats on your first RP! |

The room was still. There was no sound except the sound of blood rushing from Harmony's heart, stopping in her ears. The two girls stood facing each other, Mel was still staring at Harmony, making her feel slightly uncomfortable. "Yes, I am," she replied finally, her voice barely a whisper. "Are you new here too? My name is Harmony Black." Adalia glanced sideways at Melody. Relaxing slightly, she smiled. OOC: I changed Adalia's name to Harmony, as I'm using Adalia for Hogwarts RPG. |
Syd wandered into what he called the Counterfeit Room. It was far easier to call it that than it's real name. Erin had seemed rather busy lately and hadn't mentioned this room yet, so he felt the need to help them out. "Afternoon, ladies," he said in his deep drawl. "Has your division head been in yet? Miss O'Connor?" |
After filing her details in the department filing cabinet, Vivienne found her way with the aid of a French-English dictionary to the division office she was assigned to. She quickly tucked the pocket-sized book into her robe pocket and smiled as she walked in but there was a man somewhat blocking her path to an empty desk. "Pardon," she smiled politely as she moved past the man and it was obvious that she wasn't English. Her thick French accent gave her away as she sat down at the vacant seat. "I 'ope zis zeet iz not een usze." |
Syd turned as a voice materialized behind him. He stepped aside and waited for the young woman to sit down before proceeding. "No, Miss... I'm sorry, I didn't catch your name," he said to her. Her accent was thick, but his drawl was sometimes no better. Well, he supposed learning another face wasn't bad. The assignment could wait a few more minutes. |
"Vivienne Beauvais," she smiled and relaxed a little. "From ze Parisian Miniztry." Perhaps her accent wasn't as thick as she thought. But then again, whenever she spoke English people gave her a quizzical look. |
Syd smiled his odd pleasant yet odd smile to the young woman. He set a sheet of parchment down on one of the desks. On it was a small talisman looking object. Something with red fringe and odd, intricate patterns on the body. "We've discovered these... trinkets... bein' sold out in Diagon. They're supposed to be defensive talisman things that protect the home, but they seem to be attractin' bad luck instead of protecting. I need ya'll to take a look at it and see if there's any dark magic on it." He walked slowly in front of the desks, hands in his pockets. "If there's nothing, we'll go and impose a fine. If there's anything- anything," he said, turning to the 3 members. "You make sure to report it so we can go out and get the vendor." |
Vivienne studied the parchment for several minutes. "What type of ze bad luck 'as 'appened? It may 'elp wiz zis task," she asked. "I would not want to uze ze wrong zpell to check for ze dark magic." She had good reason to ask - the wrong spell could be disastrous for the caster if this had any dark magic. The more she knew about the damage the talisman was causing, the easier it would be to pick the appropriate spells. |
Erin O'Connor walked into the office. "I do apologize for my Tardiness. I have been meeting with my other teams, I am so sorry." |
"Ah, Miss O'Connor. I was just helping you out here," he said, rocking on his heels a bit. "The bad luck," he said to the French woman, "are things like money loss, stolen items, broken items. Basically a continual bad day." |
"Thank you very much Mr. Wordsmith, I really appreciate your help." Erin smiledsoftly. |

"Yes, I'm Melody Venn. It's lovely to meet you, Harmony." Mel smiled pleasantly at Harmony and leaned on the closest desk. Quote:
"Hello Sir. No, we were just chatting about where we were supposed to set up. You are the only other person we've seen so far. I'm Melody. Melody Venn." She smiled at the man cheerfully. Quote:

"A continual bad day... Mmmmn. It could have an acerbus charm placed on it. Perhaps an affligo hex. We should strip it down and take a closer look." Melody turned her attention to the people around her with a questioning air. "Is there a desk assignment? I'd like to get started if it's alright with you." Melody's light brown eyes were sparkling in the excitement of a new project, Her face glowing with interest. |
"There is no desk assignment." Erin replied. "It seems as though you all have been given your first assignment, so I will just observe for a few monutes, then go check on my other teams. By the way, My anme is Erin O' Connor, and I'm the Division Head, if you need anything at all please feel free to come by my office in the Improper use of Magic Office." Erin smiled. |

He turned to Vivienne, hands in his pockets. He rocked on his heels a bit and smiled his odd smile. "Well I said a few things we were told. Items breaking, going missing, money loss. Think about when you have a bad day and what goes on there. Obviously the dark magic isn't strong enough to kill anyone. Maybe harm them superficially. Simple enough, no?" he said to Vivienne. She was French and her accent was heavy. Perhaps she had not understood him the first time. |
"I'm glad you are here actually boss, I need to talk to you about something." |
"You needed me, Miss O'Connor?" he asked, turning his attention from the talisman task to her. "Na' what is it that I can help you with?" Syd said, taking the few steps toward her. |
"I need your permission to approach Nicoli about a member of his team helping to apprehend the person behind some regurgutating toilets."Erin sad, tucking a stray hair back into her bun. |
"Oh yes, go right ahead. If he has anyone open right now, it shouldn't be a problem," Syd said, smiling to the woman. "Oh, Miss O'Connor, I might be needing Improper Use of Magic to analyze something later today. Think we could squeeze that in?" |
"Absolutely! All we're working on now is the school thing, but they could use a distraction." Erin smiled. "Would you care to join me for a coffee Boss?" |
Syd flicked his wrist to get his sleeve out of the way to check his watch. It was a good time for coffee, so he figured he could get something. "Coffee? Sure thing, I have some time." |
Erin smiled and Walked with Syd to the Break room |
