Accidental Breakroom

Located here is the breakroom for all employees within the Department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes (Department of MAC). Come in and relax your mind or take a break and eat a Chocolate Frog or two. Remember to clean up after yourselves when you're finished.

"If you two drink up with enough time for me to do it." He grinned and drank his own tea. A moment later, he put the hot cup down and started chomping on his snoodle-doodles. "You're from Romania aren't ya Ivan?" He chomped into one, part of it slipping from his fingers, falling to the table. He licked off a finger and then picked up the piece he dropped.

Yusuke started sipping his tea. He swirled the liquid around a bit and watching the leaves start to turn to a muddy mess.

He looked up at Ivan, curious to know more about this man.

Ivan nodded. Although he had a public-school quality English accent, he was fluent in Romanian, his native language and had lived there the first eleven years of his life. And every so often he still missed it. Or rather, his family -most of the time. There were some longstanding differences of opinion that made going home sometimes more burden than joy.

He downed his tea the, wincing at the way the hot water scalded his tongue and throat. His eyes slid over to Yusuke. Yusuke didn't seem very American to Ivan - he was just so...polite. But then, Ivan hadn't met many Americans. And Yusuke was quick on the draw. And friendly. Very, very friendly. Of course, he amended to himself. Trism was friendly too. Far more so than a typical Brit.

Ivan started to get a headache. Figuring out people - not something he did well. Ivan gave up. "So," he pushed his cup to Trism, "show us?"

Yusuke downed his tea as well. He seemed to blush a bit to the other two though. From the heat of the tea? No... More from the mental image of his father, admonishing him for chugging his tea and not sipping it.

This isn't Japan, dad!! he thought to himself.

"Oh right, yes, I'm done too," he said, snapping back to reality.

He snatched up Ivan's teacup, swirled it 3 times clockwise, turned it over, and tapped the top 3 times with his finger. He picked it back up and then peered inside of it. "Mmm...a bee." He turned the cup to the left. "A guitar." He titled it up, then down and finally put the cup down on the table and looked u pat Ivan. "A hat and a moon."

Yusuke looked at Ivan after Trism explained what he saw. They all seemed incredibly unrelated, but he knew better than to question the man.

"Well those are... quite interesting."

Ivan blinked. "Uh..." He looked over at Yusuke, blank faced. Was he supposed to know what that meant. [i]I should have paid more attienton in Divinations instead of reading all those history books during class. Trism was looking back, placid, serene and holding knowledge. Ivan swallowed. If he wanted to know, apparently he'd have to ask. So he did. "I don't know what that means, mate." He looked hopefully at Trism. Illuminate me?

Melanie stepped into the breakroom, sat in a chair, flicked her wand and made a cup of coffee appear on the table. She took a sip and breathed deeply, taking in the atmosphere. Then she noticed her other workmates were there. She wasn't in the mood to talk to anyone, yet she didn't want to seem rude. "Um... hello everyone." She smiled sweetly

Yusuke looked at Ivan, shrugging as Ivan struggled to come up with what his tea leaves meant. Yusuke also looked at Trism, awaiting his response. He noticed a woman walk in and sit down. He bowed his head politely to her and offered a warm smile.

Trism waved absent mindedly with a hand upon hearing the word 'hello.' He was too deep in thought about the tea reading to take it in. "The bee. Well what do bee's do? They float to the flower, learning new things, taking new things in, making friends with the flowers, just like you are currently floating around the ministry doing." He took a deep breath and continued. "The guitar was placed rather close to the hat indicating that a new work situation might bring love your way - perhaps you should practice a nice Romanian love song?" He chuckled a this joke winking at Ivan. "And the moon, well it was a half moon up near the rim of the cup meaning the love situation will come on your soon and with out warning."

Yusuke gave Ivan a, 'Who Knew?' look and smiled. He gave Trism a pat on the back and shrugged his shoulders.

"I don't know how you manage to memorize all that stuff, but you're amazin'," he chuckled and handed him his tea cup. "Now what about me?"

ooc- I gotta head to bed. Keep goin' like I'm still here, I'll get the messages later.

Ivan nodded at Melanie and gave her slight wave. However, he was more interested at the moment in what Trism had said. Romance? That would be nice... Ivan could count the months since his last romance. Which, for Ivan, was rather a long time. Why this should be so when he was so often so clueless about people was one of those mysteries in life.

And then, "Oh, yes. Tell us about Yusuke! Will he be having any romances? Promotions?" Ivan winked at Yusuke, wondering if any of this would come true. At the very least, it was entertaining. He looked over at Melanie again. "If you get some tea, maybe Trism here can read for you."

He turned the cup to the left until the handle bumped his wrist. "Grapes and a pipe." The cup tipped down. "A thistle and ooo the rare 5th symbol. A shoe."

Ivan leaned towards the girl, "Trism here is reading our tea leaves. They're--" Ivan looked around and then lowered his voice, "...from the Department of Mysteries." He added a grave nod and a wink, to let her know to keep that on the 'down-low' around the water-fountain gossipfest.

Ivan beckoned her over with his hand. The more the merrier. Then he turned back to Yusuke. "A donkey? Ivan leaned forward, trying to see into the cup. All he could make out was wet, clumpy leaves resembling miniature cooked spinich. What on earth did a donkey mean? And were condolences in order?

Yusuke shrugged to Ivan and the girl. Trism was the expert here, not him. But, he could see a donkey in the leaves... well... maybe. It sort of looked like a donkey, but it could have been anything to him.

ooc- Trism, we're all wanted in our proper room in the Dept for our assignments if you didn't know. >_>

Unlike with Ivan's cup, Trism didn't put Yusuke's cup down, but instead kept turning the cup around and around in his hands as he talked. "The donkey is actually a beast of patience, so - I suggest you display patience in something, perhaps work, considering the donkey is also a beast of burden." He took a deep breath before he continued. "But the, the pile of grapes is rather close to the donkey's nose, and the grapes indicate friendship, perhaps he patience is needed in the realm of a particular relationship." He glanced up. Blue eyes flicked from Ivan to Yusuke and then back down into the cup.

"Now, the pipe. The pipe indicates new ideas. Have you been inspired lately?" He didn't wait for an answer but instead plowed on. "Although, it's rather close to the thistle perhaps these ideas bring on ambition and the shoe. Well the mysterious 5th symbol of the shoe runs out of the thistle and the pipe, but is near the bottom of the cup and I would guess you just had a career change."

He finally set the cup down and started eating his snoodle-doodles again.

"Oh, well, I...well this job is new... and I am learning to make new friends... o I guess that was pretty accurate! Thanks bud," he smiled patting Trism on the shoulder.

Ivan blinked several times. He got all that and I got 'possible romance'? Somehow Ivan felt jipped. He looked at Yusuke with somethng akin to envy. Without thinking, Ivan snagged a snoodle-doodle and popped it into his mouth. "So...how..uh, accurate are these predictions of yours?"

Yusuke flushed a bit and rubbed his head as Ivan looked a tad disappointed. He did get possible romance after all... much better than learning about a new job in Yusuke's opinion. But cest la vie (sp?), he thought.

"Well, depends on how you look at it, or how you interpret it. The prediction I mean. They don't always work out the way they come out." He popped another snoodle-doodle into his mouth, chewed, swallowed and then picked up his tea cup and took a long drink.

Yusuke nodded and sat down. He leaned back in his chair and looked up at the ceiling.

"And I guess we never know if its right til stuff happens," he said to no one in particular.

Ivan nodded and sighed. Well, a romance would be nice. Just having someone to talk to about the book he was reading would be nice. Writing letters to his brother or even to friends from the past wasn't quite the same as a real live person to have eyes glaze over as Ivan expounded on the theories of magical dating of ancient dragon egg shell remanents.

Behind Ivan, on the wall, the breakroom clock's big hand clicked to 'Get Back to Work!' and a small enchanted wooden faerie popped up and did a little dance.
