IC RULES
1. I tolerate a great many things. Tardiness is not one of them. If you are late, you will find the door shut. Should you choose to enter despite this, you will lose points.
2. That being said, I prefer that you show up late than not at all. Unexcused absences will add up and be subtracted from your total score on the final examinations. For OWL and NEWT students, be aware that I am not beyond subtracting these scores from your coursework module.
3. You are expected to be in your uniform and have the necessary equipment you in all lessons, unless I specifically say otherwise. If you are unable to afford the equipment, I expect you to inform me
before the lesson. Students fourth year onwards will be required to bring with them an abacus for theory lessons. Should you fail to meet these requirements, points will be taken.
4. You will
NOT, under any circumstances, take away from another student a learning opportunity. It is natural not to know the answer to every question I ask you. It is not fair for you to interrupt someone just before they understand the subject matter for themselves.
If you do not know the answer, make something up. You might surprise yourself with how close you are to the truth.
5. On that vein, come
prepared. I do not expect you to know everything, but I do expect you to read one chapter in advance of the lesson. I can lay to rest any doubts you have, but I do not have the time to read you the textbook.
6. Do remember that Astronomy lessons go on until relatively late. If you have trouble staying awake, I would recommend caffeine or some snacks with noiseless wrappers. Should you fall asleep in class, I can and will jinx you.
7. Ask questions, even if you think they're stupid. Actually, ask them especially if you think they're stupid. That's how you get a PhD.
OOC RULES:
1. All
SS and
SSRPG rules apply. At all times. No exceptions.
2. I'm not Professor Sandhu. Therefore, IC rulebreaking will result in IC punishment (points loss, detention, etc.) and OOC rulebreaking in OOC punishment (warnings, infractions, etc.).
3. Don't plagiarise -- I (and Professor Sandhu)
love to see how creatively you guys think. I can't tell you how to RP your characters, but if everyone were Hermione Granger, it'd be pretty boring. Also, wrong answers are always fun and provide a learning opportunity for everyone.
4. You can direct any questions or concerns or ideas you have to me via
PM (
laurange).
5. Have fun! I love you all. Can't wait to see you in class.
