Entrance

The Great Hall is flanked by two large, thick, wooden doors that often make a BANG! sound when flung open by dramatic students and/or staff. There are large, beautiful glass windows at the end of the Hall above the staff dais, the usual enchanted ceiling over everyone, and the four regular house tables lined up neatly in the middle.

Whether you make an entrance or choose to simply enter the Great Hall, you'll still be wowed by its size and architecture every time. You might also be pleased to notice the general upgrade in cleanliness, and perhaps a light, pleasantly clean scent from the candles floating above all the tables. Isn't it nice, what money can do for a school?

Marigold felt pretty off-kilter. Was is really the end of term feast? Already? They weren't under a spell, they weren't being attacked by creatures, only one student had died, and all in all, it was a pretty mellow term. It was weird, really, that the one year there were no Heads, nothing (besides Gregoire) had gone wrong. Marigold pushed her hair back and pinned it, then walked in to greet her badgers. She felt more maternal about them by each passing second.

Helena floated silently into the Entrance Hall, seeing a robed black and yellow striped back of a Hufflepuff girl that just disappeared into the Great Hall. Halting in front of the double doors she took her time to make sure she was presentable in front of one of the corridor windows. Helena always wanted to look at her best at the feasts even if the end of term ones always were a little sad.

Leah walked out of the Great Hall and into the Entrance Hall. She leaned against the cool wall and watched students from different Houses walk into the warmth of the Feast. Actually, it seemed like it wasn't just students who were making their entrance. The Ravenclaw House Ghost was in front of a window fixing her makeup - uh, making herself look prettier.

She approached the Grey Lady, careful not to walk into her. The Hufflepuff looked up and wondered if it was okay to speak to her. "Hello, ma'am," she said. "Hope I am not disturbing you." Meeting ghosts was pleasant as they were all so elegant. Except Peeves, but he shouldn't count.

Ethan took the opportunity to excuse himself from the Slytherin table, and walked out of the Great Hall to avoid Josie’s presence. He did pick a seat that was right across hers, and…though she did not see him earlier, he did and tried himself to hide behind little Brooklyn Andrews.

The last encounter was pretty awkard, and Ethan had to excuse himself so he could get ready for his Herbology practicals that afternoon. Now that OWLs are over, he’s got all the time in the world to think about what happened between him and Josie. The Slytherin situated himself on the steps of the Entrance Hall, and contemplated his next move…

There must have been so many glances she had given towards the Slytherin table to look for him, but it just seemed like he was almost nowhere to be found since their last meeeting & that was just..a disaster. But she tried her best not to let her house mates see any sign that she was upset, especially Sophie, that girl always knew what was up with Josie.

But she still couldn't help stealing another glance at his table & that was when her eyes lit up for just a moment to see Ethan walking out of the Great Hall. She bit her lower lip as she watched him walk away from everyone & disappear into the halls. Josie stood there for only a moment, but then she looked to Sophie & promised she'd be right back.

She said nothing more as she slowly made her way into the Entrance Hall & slowly took a glance to her right & to her left. That was when she looked to the stairs & found him sitting alone. Josette didn't know what to do. Perhaps, he might be upset? Should she go & ask? She nervously fidgeted with her fingers as she slowly began to approach him, unsure of what exactly her plans was going into this. At this point he might not even want to speak to her..it made sense, she hadn't seen him at the Masquerade because of her, so why would now change that?

Still..she couldn't help but ask, "D-Didn't want to s-say your last goodbyes?"

She WAS fixing her makeup after all. Leah watched as the ghost reflected in the glass pane reapplied lipstick. The Grey Lady did not show any sign that she heard her. It could be that she was focused on what she was doing, so Leah waited.

As she expected, she was soon acknowledged. "Uh no, I was just watching. I'm Leah Abbott," she said. "Are you excited for the Feast to begin?" The Grey Lady have been through so many of these, it must get boring once in a while. Leah only had three more End of term feasts until her last one.

How was he supposed to deal with a very awkward situation??? Term will technically be over in a few hours, and his issue with Josie isn't settled yet.

Does he say sorry? Sorry...with flowers? Pssh, who was he kidding. The flower was a disaster! Ethan sighed as he massaged his temples and tried to drown the noise that came from the Hall behind him.

The sixteen year inhaled...and exhaled slowly when he heard the all too familiar voice of Josette Edayson. "No...not when I need to settle some things first..." he said as he looked around and smiled sheepishly at Josie. "Hi."

Merlin help him. "This is harder than OWLs..."

[Nearly Headless Nick]

Taking extra care readying himself for the feast, Sir Nicholas puffed out his chest a bit more as he glided through the corridors towards the entrance to the Great Hall. The House Ghost usually opted to make his grand entrance through the centre of the Gryffindor table, this evening he had elected other means in hopes of floating into Helena along the way.

And it seemed is intuition and keen observations had been spot on.

"How dost thou, m'lady," he greeted with a bow towards the Ravenclaw ghost. "Delighted to see you as well, Lady Leah. Or would you prefer I call you simply Leah?" And then, upon hearing the young Hufflepuff's inquiry, added. "Should not be too much longer before the Headmistress gives her speech, but there is still time to linger if you are not wishing to sit down just yet."

He noted the presence of two other students, but said nothing to greet the pair. Seemed as though the young lady was quivering like a bowl of elderflower jelly on the back of a carriage riding over cobblestone.

But while doing so, she heard Ethan speak & she quickly whipped her head back around to pay attention to what he said, which included settling some things first. "O-Oh..I-I see...I-I can leave..i-if you'd like.." She was fully prepared to turn around, but she stopped herself when he looked at her & smiled.

That was unexpected.

If it was any other occasion she would have asked for a pulling head off performance, but the Gryffindor house ghost seemed like he wanted to talk to the Grey lady. "Nah, I should go back and take a seat. Hope you have a nice time!" Leah directed her words to both ghosts and skipped back to her puff friends.

"Then Leah it shall be," he chuckled whilst toying with his semitransparent moustache. "And in return if you would be so kind as to refer to me as Sir Nicholas, please."

Oh? Leaving so soon? Sir Nicholas felt as though he must have interrupted a conversation between ladies. "Be sure to have some of the Yorkshire pudding and roast beef on my behalf!" he called after the Hufflepuff as she departed.

Which only reminded him he needed to seek the aid of a willing Gryffindor once again this term.

"Doing quite splendidly," he replied with a smile while fidgeting some more with his goatee to make sure not a ghostly hair was out of place. "Will not deny I had hoped for a third year of a crimson and gold decorated Great Hall." What House Ghost did not wish for their house to be bestowed the honour at the end of term? "But one must count their blessings, I suppose. No Gryffindors parted the world of the living this term."

Floating a bit more towards the center of the open doorway, the ghost took a peek inside and smiled humbly at all the activity.

"I'll be visiting the Gryffindor common room, as per usual," he nodded, venturing a glance towards the house table. Was that a....the ghost chuckled suddenly and with no explanation for Helena. Good to see that the lions were having a bit of fun on their last night in the castle. "Have a few parting words to share with the graduates."

If he was in a better mood, he would have summoned his lute and played it for the two of them, but alas, that's not the case.

Ethan stood up as he diverted his attention to Josie once more. "Hey..." Merlin, so awkard! "Would you like to...join me here?" the Slytherin asked softly. She looked like she was about to go back, which made the sixteen year old wonder why she's there in the first place. Did she...see him and followed him outside?

Her eyes briefly traveled to the floor beneath her feet as she awkwardly stood there. But she suddenly heard movement & she quickly lifted her head to see Ethan standing up all the while looking at her.

'Would you like to...join me here?'

She was actually surprised once more when he had asked her that. She did not expect that, but it's not as if she were complaining. The fourteen year old was actually relieved he wasn't casting her away, at least not yet. But still, the girl gave him a nod before she took the few steps to reach him.

Taking a seat beside him, her eyes traveled to look up at him as he stood, silently waiting for him to sit. She had no idea what was about to happen, but it was making her internally freak out. Which obviously could not be shown. What were these things that had to be settled? Could it be that he wished to longer be friends with her? Did he not wish to be around her?

That confidence however was swept away as soon as the thought crossed his mind. How...on earth will he tell her that after what happened? Ethan cleared his throat, and sat next to her. The Slytherin clasped both of his hands in front of him and stared at it for a few seconds. No matter how awkward the situation is at the moment, Ethan can't help but feel happy. Why? Josie's just inches away from him, and despite what happened, he doesn't feel any hate at all.

"I'm sorry, I failed to ask you last time..." he started as he winced at his words. Awkward, awkward, awkward. "I knew you were...uhm. Not okay? I saw...your eyes..." he trailed off as he gestured to his eyes.

Ethan inhaled and exhaled, and thought that he was going nowhere with the conversation. "I don't know if...that has something to do with me. But, I want to know..." So...was he the reason why she cried?

Actually come to think of it, at this point it really wouldn't surprise her now if she were to start crying, particularly in front of Ethan, because lets face it, almost everything awkward happens in front of him especially & at the WORST times.

He finally sat beside her & she felt a knot in her stomach.

There’s no way he’d hurt Josie. Ethan simply cannot put himself to be mad and be irrational towards her. With that in mind, he was ready to hear words from Josie. He was prepared to get hurt, because he made her cry and that didn’t sit well with him. He maintained his calm just like how he did in his OWL practical exams.

All of his composure were thrown out of the window the moment Josie started talking.

She was upset because of what happened back at the Masque…and it’s his fault. Ethan opened his mouth to talk, and closed it again as soon as he realized that there’s no one else to blame but the spell that was over the place during the event. The realization made the Slytherin upset because he can’t get back at an actual person, and tell him or her that s/he ruined their night. Ethan moved closer to her and hesitated to touch her shoulder. It dawned on him that he could have done something about it. He’s a capable wizard after all.

I want everyone to see how beautiful you are, Jo.” At this point, Ethan’s hand found hers, and held it reassuringly. “I’m sorry I didn’t do anything about it.” The sixteen year old hung his head, feeling the rush of blood rise up to his head. “I’m…really…really sorry.” The Slytherin released her hand and moved away from her. Ethan’s pretty sure that Josie hates him more than anything right now…

She really wished this crying emotional thing could be controlled. It was almost as if her emotions had a mind of their own. There was no stopping these tears. It even felt as if someone had compelled her to do so, like a sort of mean joke for their own enjoyment? It really was something she had to do some research on, perhaps during her time away from school?

But enough of that plan, here she was practically balling her eyes out in front of Ethan & there was no way she could stop herself. That was until she felt him touch her hair, which did make her jump a bit & she realized he was tucking it behind her ear. He was waiting for her? "..Y-You were?" He hadn't been embarrassed by her? She stared at him intently, as her tears began to stop flowing, thank Merlin.

His next choice of words were something she did not anticipate hearing at all.
He wanted to be with her? Josie procssedd that & it made something register in her brain by the next thing he said, but all she managed to ask was, "..Y-You t-think I'm...b-beautiful?" She looked down at their hands as he was holding hers & her face was feeling very hot now. Josie looked back at Ethan & kept replaying what he said in her brain over & over again.

This reminded her of the lovers she was reading about again, in the scene where the heroic warrior & his fair maiden overcame their obstacles to be with one another, or was it her father who tried to trick the fair maiden's mind into believing her heroic warrior was just a dangerous brute?

Just then, Ethan suddenly aplogized to her & he released her hand, even so much as turn away from her this time. Josie was still processing what he had said to her once again & she looked down at her hand that was being held by his only moments ago. It was making sense now. She scooted closer to him & slowly reached out to reach for his hand this time. Josie held his hand for a few moments before speaking softly, "..E-Ethan..." She hesitated before she leaned herself forward to whisper into his ear, [/B]"..I-I forgive you.."[/B] That was when she did something she NEVER anticipated happening. Just about the most unexpected thing that even surprised her, was to place her lips softly against his cheek.

He was forgiven, AND got a kiss. “Uhm…” Ethan looked away, scratched his head trying to hide the good awkward from his face, and gave Josie a grin. “Thanks.” For what? For forgiving him? For the kiss? Both? Yeah, yeah. Both. “Jo…” Ethan started as he fully faced her and wore his serious face. “You are beautiful, okay? Don’t let others tell you otherwise.” Or he’ll hex them in the face if they did. The Slytherin hugged the Ravenclaw affectionately. “Are we okay now?” he asked as softly as possible.

Floating a bit more towards the center of the open doorway, the ghost took a peek inside and smiled humbly at all the activity.

Adjusting the pins in her wavy brown hair Helena replied as she inspected her fingernails calmly. "There will come new years with the Great Hall decorated in crimson and gold I’m sure. I hope the claws will do better next term. Fourth is not a position in the cup race that I covet. We deserve a better position."

Gliding over to float in the centre of the open doorway next to Sir Nicholas she took in all the activity at the tables. Helena blew out a breath as she answered humbly, glancing sideways at Sir Nick. "Yes we should count our blessings and be grateful on this feast night. No Ravenclaw's parted the world of the living either." A fact Helena was very glad for.

Eyes trailing over to where her eagles were chattering amongst themselves in good companionship it seemed at the house table Helena nodded. "I have the same plans. I wish to say good bye to the eagle graduates and wish everyone else a fun filled summer."

Josie looked at him intently as he told her he wasn't the only who could see that she was beautiful. That was a bit scary to think about, which only made her wonder who else he was talking about that saw her that way too.

She immediately leaned away after she had just kissed him on his cheek, unsure of what was about to happen. Was he going to freak out? Should she leave? Was she going to regret doing such a thing? Was he going to be upset because she had done that? Should she have asked for his permission before she had done that? Drats. The very shocked look on his face was a bit scary & it was more frightening as his head slowly turned to look at her. He only said one word & it was okay? Was it okay that she had forgiven him? He suddenly looked away again & she tried to follow his gaze, but before she could figure out what he was looking at, he was smiling at her again. Now he was thanking her? Was he thanking her for the...kiss?

Josie was about to say your welcome for some reason, but didn't get the chance to when he said her name. "..Y-Yes?" The fourteen year old watched as he turned to fully face her & was now looking serious. She listened to what he said next & she felt her heart skip a beat again when he had told her she was beautiful again. Her face was feeling very warm again. But she nodded to what he said. Suddenly his arms were around & she tensed up for a brief moment, but quickly relaxed before slowly wrapping her arms around his torso. Josie heard him ask if they were okay & she nodded slowly, "Mhmm.."

Ethan can’t help but feel happy...and confused. It’s always a good feeling when things get solved between friends, right? But he’s baffled still about the stolen kiss. What was that about?

...Maybe he should ask Simon if he’s kissable. Wait, what???

Pushing aside the thought for a moment, Ethan released Josie from his hug and held her hands. “That’s great to hear.” He said as he smiled at her. “Uhm...is there any other reason why you’re upset?” he asked, “You can tell me things, you know.” He said giving her a reassuring nod. Ethan wanted to take Josie out of her shell gently, just like how he did with Simon two terms ago. He wanted the Ravenclaw to be not afraid of people, and he wanted her stronger self come out. She’s an eagle for crying out loud.

“By the way, will you be joining the summer trip?” They can all use some downtime, yes? They definitely deserve a break of some sort, especially the rising sixth years. OWL year's been tough and all.
