Lachlan the Lanky

As you crest the staircase coming up from the sixth floor, you'll notice a statue to your right. Lachlan the Lanky is a great, if not extremely old, landmark for a meeting place, because he has just enough space behind him for a firstie to squeeze in and hide.

Never underestimate the element of surprise when greeting your friends, and even more so when sneaking up on your enemies. This statue of a wizard innocently reading is anything but innocent.

She had taken to wandering again. She did like the common room and her dorm, but Evie felt like there was always so much more to see and find around the castle. This time, she had her little black kitty with her, padding along behind her as she walked down the corridor.

Evie paused when they came up to the statue and peered over it to see what he was reading. She didn't know who it was, but it was kind of weird.

The fifth year whistled his way down the corridor, casually glancing around at his surroundings until he spotted a head full of dark curls. He didn't remember the girl's name, but he remembered her and her hair from the feast opening night.

E-something?

"Hey." He moved up beside her with a smile and then looked at the statue. "Is he doin' somethin'?" Or where they just staring?

Hearing footsteps that did not belong to her cat, Evie turned just as she saw a familiar face come up beside her. She couldn't remember his name off the top of her head, but she knew it was kind of different. He was the one building the fork tower during the feast.

"Hey," she replied, returning the smile. Then she looked back at the statue. "No. I'm trying to see if he will, though, or if he's just a normal statue." Was anything really normal at Hogwarts, though?

Evie cleared her throat and shyly looked at him again. "Sorry, I forgot your name..." heh..?

When he realized she didn't remeber his name, he just smiled, feeling a little better about not being able to rememeber hers either. "'S okay. It's Paris. I forgot yours too..." It was very.... her. Whatever it was.

Oh. It wasn't a moving statue. Boring. Maybe not boring necessarily, but not particularly interesting. Maybe if she found out who he was and what he was reading and/or what he was famous for she'd be more interested. "Maybe," she agreed halfheartedly.

She was slightly relieved to hear that he hadn't remembered her name either. "Evie. Short for Evangeline." Paris sounded familiar now that he said it again.

They had introduced themselves at the feast, so that small talk was already not an option, but Evie decided that (so far) she liked this boy's company and didn't necessarily want him to go yet. "Where were you headed to?" she inquired. She didn't want to interrupt something.

She seemed disappointed by the fact that statues did nothing, and not that interested in getting someone to make them animated, which Paris was okay with. He thought enough things moved on its own accord in this castle, didn't need another.

"Evangeline." He let the name roll over his tongue thoughtfully before smiling. "I like your name. 'S nice." Pretty like her, but if she wanted to go by Evie, that's what he would call her. "I was just goin to get some food. Ya can join me if ya like, or..... stay here with the cat." Was it hers? Paris bent down to pet it.

She smiled at him when he said her name. And he thought it was nice. "Thanks." She liked his too, Paris. "You can call me whatever you want. Evie's just easier to say." She shrugged. A few people called her by the full Evangeline. Some called her Eve. She didn't mind any of them.

Oh, food? Evie liked food, especially Hogwarts food. She got notably more excited. "I'll come with you." Aww, did he like kitties? "Button will come, too. She follows me most places." Maybe not to the kitchen, if that's where they were going. The house elves probably didn't want animals in the kitchen.

That was good to know. It was also good to know that Paris didn't seem to mind cats. Button sure enjoyed the ear scratches and took to rubbing up against his leg before he went down the stairs. Evie followed him and the cat followed her. She had spent a lot of her day alone, so she was glad to have someone to spend time with. Good company, too.

"Ummm..." She paused and thought about his question, tucking some hair behind her ear as they went down the stairs. "I think so. It's a bit different than I thought it would be." If she was being honest. Which she was, most of the time.

With a bright orange spray paint can in his hand, Kevin didn't even bother concealing his identity this time. His signature was still outside and no one had bothered to remove it. So no one cared if he did this. But this time the Gryffindor didn't want to paint his signature on a random wall, instead he had walked down the staircase from the common room and as he entered the sixth floor corridor he turned to look at the statue standing in front of him.

He shook the spray can, covered his mouth with a scarf and with a hidden grin he began to paint on the statue's beard.

She would call a Professor? He laughed again but that laugh quickly turned in to a shout of pain when he felt a hit against his leg. Did she just KICK HIM?! He dropped the spray can on the floor and fell on his behind as he held his leg. "WHAT!" he shouted, anger rising up again. He knew that this was the time to learn and control his anger like Quigley had said but he didn't even remember his words at the moment. "WAS THAT FOR!?" He rubbed the area where she had KICKED HIM and glared up at the girl. He never broke eye contact as he stood back up on his feet and marched, flinching each time he set a step , towards the young Ravenclaw. "You want to get hurt or something?" he asked through gritted teeth. Even he didn't know if he was trying to scare her or was speaking the truth. "I should talk to your Head of House and tell him you go around kicking people!" a smirk played across his face as he said that.

Was she serious?! "So because i'm rude i deserve violence?" he asked as he continued to glare back at her. "You know, i might be all that what you just said but i DON'T hurt someone like that" He usually hurt people with words, not actions.

He turned back around and walked back to his spray can and picked it up, it was leaking though and his hand got covered with the orange paint. "Look what you did!" he shouted again but then laughed as he marched back to the girl. "Really?" he asked as he cocked his head to the side. "Who do you think he'll support? [Peeves]

Peeves had been torturing helping some first years when the portraits of the sixth floor started yelling. The noise was so annoying he just had to fly to the seventh floor to get away. He had his sights set on one of the common rooms. There had to be something fun to do there.

That's when he saw it. Someone painting the statue. TWO SOMEONES!!!


"Oh what do we have here? Students painting school property with muggle things?"

This was going to be fun he swooped down to grab the can.

She didn't even falter. Even after what he had threatened. She was either really confident in her case or she didn't even belong in those Ravenclaw robes. "Alright then, let's make a bet" he grinned. "We'll go to his office right now and each tell our stories. The one who loses will have to carry the other's school books for a whole week, deal?" he wanted to hold out his hand for her to shake but instead he heard a voice he knew from anywhere.

Peeves.

Anger bubbled up inside of him again when he watched the poltergeist swoop down to grab his spray can. Forgetting about the girl, Kevin made fists of his hands as he held them by his side. "PEEEEEEEVES!" He shouted , his voice that already started to sound lower than normal fourth years, was booming through the corridor "I am NOT in a good mood right now" his eyes were glaring daggers at him. "So give that back RIGHT NOW! or i'll make sure you'll regret it, got it?!"

Yeah, he was totally zen right now....

Kevin made a movement to grab his wand from out of his wrist holster and wanted to point it at the poltergeist but he was gone. Hearing movement behind him, the Gryffindor couldn't feel the paint being sprayed on the back of his robes but he wasn't stupid and he knew what had happened.

"YA!" He shouted as he turned around. "If someone deserves to be painted on it should be HER!" He pointed with his wand towards Abby and grinned.

[Peeves]

Spraying the boys robes Peeves cackled and looked towards the girl as he floated back up. Flipping the can a few times and catching it before it got too close to the ground.

"Who's going to get in trouble, who's going to get in troooouble. Peeves is going to go give the can to a professors."


He cackled spraying at both students hair before flying with the can out toward the staircase.

"GET BACK HERE YOU STUPID GHOST!" Kevin screamed, loudly, as Peeves sprayed orange paint in to his and Abby's hair. He had completely forgotten their little fight earlier and he even ran after the Poltergeist but it was too fast and he had to stop.

Moving back in to the corridor, Kevin kicked the orange beard statue before grabbing his wand. He pointed it at the statue and waved his wand. "Scourgify!" he shouted and watched the paint vanish from the beard. Next he pointed his wand at his hair but stopped... and lowered his wand. What if something went wrong and he accidentally hurt himself? UGH. What to doooo?! "OI! you're a ravenclaw, how do i get this paint off of me!?" he demanded as he looked at Abby. Come on!, help him out here, he couldn't risk another detention!

"Tora?" Adrienne called out loudly (oblivious to the possibility that she might be disturbing anyone), approaching the statue. She clicked her tongue disparagingly when she realised that her friend - well, ex-friend - wasn't anywhere to be seen. This was definitely the weird statue nearby the Common Room, making it definitely the place that the note she'd been passed in class told her they were to meet. Cryptic would have been too strong an adjective to describe it, but it had been clear that the other girl wasn't going to divulge any information about her intentions in wanting to talk to Adrienne until the meeting itself.

She sighed and crossed her arms, leaning against the wall. Typical of Tora to be late for her own appointments. Honestly, once she'd thought her friend could do no wrong, but ever since they'd fought she'd noticed more and more how annoying and disrespectful and not to mention easily ticked off she was. Ugh, how had they ever gotten along?

"Hello? Is there anyone around?" She rolled her eyes at the lack of response, and told herself firmly that she'd wait five minutes and then go if Tora didn't show up. It was already awkward enough avoiding her and meals and in the Common Room, she wasn't about to subject herself to this.
