Muggle Studies Lesson Two: True Love's Kiss the answer to Death
The school year seemed to just pass by so quickly, Josephina was flabbergasted that it was nearly over and that she was only one year away from the big four-oh. But yet, despite her real age, she was pretty sure that she felt younger than most of the current Hogwarts population. Honestly; they were barely eighteen, some of them not even teenagers - so then why were they acting eighty?! It was definitely that which led to her inspiration for today's topic.
Along with the large prop she had placed carefully on her desk (which was disillusioned shortly after students started to arrive due to the expressions).
Now all she needed was for these youngsters seniors to show up ... hopefully without any slips or falls.
ooc: as mentioned in the notice board, the lesson will actually begin tomorrow. Approximately 24 hours from the time of this post. Feel free to RP arriving and such .... =)

Classes after lunch were a mistake. Once Lex had had her fill there was very little that could keep her awake. Whining about not having food usually did it where Muggle Studies was concerned but see, she was stuffed now...or on her way to being stuffed and yes, she had taken some food wrapped in a napkin with her, for just in case reasons, obviously.
Entering the class she was proven right, there was no food here and she would have gotten hungry again at some point then starv--

Holy. Kneazle. Sweet mother of Circe. Merlin's BEARD. Alexa felt all the blood drain from her face as she caught sight of the COFFIN on the Professor's desk. For several minutes she stood there trying to find her voice but nothing was coming and the coffin seemed to be moving closer.
The BoG peeps said they were NOT going to die! What was this????????? ".....This isn't fair...."

Eagerly, Lux made her way into the Muggle Studies class. She was really looking forward to this lesson, and hoped that it would top the one where they went on the bumper cars. Would there be more muggle games to play?
Noticing the coffin on the Professor's desk, she stopped right where she was and stared at it. Sweet Circe, what was this lesson about? O_O No one was dying, were they?
"Professor... why...? The question spoke for itself, as the girl continued to stare at the coffin with large eyes.

Alec was trying his hardest not to think about... things. But try as he might, the thought was still lingering in his mind, popping up every now and then. A frown formed across his face as he made his slow journey towards the Muggle Studies classroom. Not that he needed this subject but... Hadley. That was a good enough reason to be here.
And speaking of Hadley... the boy stopped right outside the classroom and started rummaging around in his bag. It was here, right? He had packed it, yeah? Because the last thing he really wanted to do was have to head all the way back to his dorm just to retrieve this little thing. This little thing that was wrapped and... in his bag! He let out a sigh of relief and shook his head. Silly thing to be worrying about. Readjusting his grip on his bag, he looked at the door of the classroom and gulped. This... was it.
Deep breaths... deep breaths... and head into the--

... ... What?!
Grey eyes were wide and transfixed on the... the... why was there a COFFIN on Hadley's desk?! The Hufflepuff opened and closed his mouth several times but no words seem to come out. Just... why?! They weren't talking about death, right? Nobody was dying, right? This was going to be harder than he thought what with this coffin here and he didn't like this idea one bit. No.
But Hadley. "H-Hey, Professor," he said, trying to manage a small smile. This was going to be hard. Smiles were given to Candy, too, and the other Hufflepuff girl that he didn't know before Alec moved to sit down on an empty seat near the front of the classroom. His eyes landed back on the coffin which... he had questions about. Naturally.

When Sander finally made his way to the Muggle Studies classroom, he was totally breathless. As he entered he first noticed that there was only one other student there. Alexa. The next thing he noticed was his Head of House, Professor Hadley, and lastly....
What was a coffin doing here lying on the Professor's desk!! Was she trying to tell them something? Sander felt chills run down his spine and shuddered. Yes he knew he was getting old, but it didn't mean that he was going to di... No he wasn't going to think about that. No, nyet, nein!!
He walked up to the Professor forcing himself to ignore the thing..and smiled in greeting.
"Hello Professor. I'm glad we're having another Muggle Studies Lesson," Sander told the Professor before turning around and finding a seat in the front row. He pulled out his writing materials and placed them on his desk and waited for his friends to show up.

Alex arrived for Muggle Studies and noticed that the class was almost empty. Good, she could have her choice of seats. Intending to greet the Professor,she opened her mouth to say hello and then........????? Why was there a coffin on her desk? After a moment of stunned silence, she said, " Hello Professor". Still looking puzzled and a little disturbed, Alex spotted Lux and Sander. She went over to sit near her friends. " Hi guys. Do you know what's up with the coffin?"

Belly full and a happy snake, Beverly entered the her least favorite lesson. She didn't like not knowing stuff and that's what Muggle Studies meant for her. She knew zilch about non-magic stuff. SIGH. The life of a witch.
But she was in a good enough mood - for once - to greet the professor with a tiny grin. "Hello--"

Was it what she thought it was? It was. It really was.
Welp. Here come the locked-up feelings, though some were sketchy due to memory loss, but there was one Beverly would never forget; the loss of her mother. The looming thought of old age didn't help the situation either.
Shooting the professor a look of betrayal, she wibbled all the way to her desk. She wasn't crying. Just...sad, frustrated and....REALLY SAD.

She'd considered skipping this lesson for lots of reasons but the biggest being that the thought of saying goodbye to Hadley was extremely hard to swallow. Ella just barely survived the scene with Airey and repeating something like that was just..nope. She wasn't eager to do that. In the end she couldn't do it, though. Couldn't skip and so the eighteen year old slowly and begrudgingly made her way to the classroom. It took her longer for more reasons than the old age plaguing her but eventually she arrived.

Ella had been thinking about death a lot lately. Not only because of what was said in the BoG room but because of things going on at home with her Gran. So yeah, the subject wasn't something she was unfamiliar with these days but to see the coffin... Well the Head Girl stopped dead in her tracks and stared at it. Yeah, she really should have skipped this lesson. Her eyes teared up slightly and she tore her gaze away, deciding she needed a moment before greeting the professor. She didn't even care that she was blocking the entry way.
Eventually shaking her head to compose herself, Ella took a deep breath and glanced at Hadley. "H-hey Professor." She was fine. She'd be fine. She just...yeah. Sore subject is all.
She could take comfort in the fact that Alec was here and when she finished her greeting, she headed to the seat next to his. When she was seated, she chanced a glance at him and bit her lip. "Hey."

The blonde strolled into the classroom and then stopped short in his step when he saw what was on professor Hadley's desk. His eyebrows furrowed close together, his eyes squinting. What in the world? That was a rather creepy and disturbing thought. Where had she even gotten that? And why did she think it was safe enough to have in the class? Aging or not, no one wanted to see a coffin. Ever.
Oichi hobbled her way into the muggle studies classroom and upon entering her jaw dropped, "Professor, why? This is, no, I don't even want to think.... This is just wrong, so many of us fear the worst, how is this okay?", Oichi asked quite a bit flustered and then took a seat at the closest possible seat, she felt light headed and completely freaked all at the same time. Well she knew she was not falling asleep this lesson but she might pass out.
Nigel was expecting an interesting class and Hadley did not disappoint. A huge coffin in the front of the class. Not something Nigel was ever expecting in a classroom. Or in his distant future. Let his love ones take care of that. Though unless he wanted a cool custom coffin. Back to school reltated stuff. Nigel remembered they did learn that dead person spell in HoM a couple years back.
But other than that, not much on death.
"Hello Professor Hadley, anyone in the coffin?"
Someone had to ask.

Right, classes. Penelope really didn't feel like focusing on them these days, but she knew she ought to because of NEWTs next year. It seemed far away, but the end of term was actually approaching pretty quickly, so it wasn't really that long until she'd be a seventh year. And she really shouldn't procrastinate on studying for them since she'd heard they were harder than OWLs. Ugh.

Adi hobbled his way into Muggle Studies class. Despite the aches he was in good spirits. Nothing can keep this Puffer down!
"Hallo, Professor Hadley!'' he said to the lady but then froze when he saw what was next to her. "Er...'' Was someone dieing? Deciding he wasn't going to say anything else, Adi shot a weak grin at the Professor and went off to find a seat.
Finally a class he could probably stay awake in for most of it. Slowly making his way towards the classroom, Jun had hoped it was nothing to do with them slowly dying lately. Thankfully, no one had dropped yet. Dragging himself into the class, he nodded at the professor. "Hello, professor," Jun headed towards an empty desk, but noticed something on her professor's. Doing a double take, he rolled his eyes and huffed. "Why didn't I stay in bed today?" he whispered to himself and sat down.
The professor was preparing them for their funerals already. This was going to be a looooooong lesson.

Honestly, she was just ready for term to be over already. She was missing home and her friends and she was sick of looking around and feeling like she'd accidentally wondered into an old-folks home. This last reason was why she'd been rather reluctant to climb out of bed the past few days. But she had to do what she had to do and she had to eat and go to classes. Now, if only she could take her classes like she took her meals. Outside and away from old people.
And now there was this. Walking into the Muggle Studies classroom it was really hard to miss the COFFIN sitting on the professor's desk. Well, this class was going to be uncomfortable.
Needless to say, Layla sat as far away from the thing as she could and tried not to stare.

Merlin. She acted like she was dying, she felt like she was dying, she looked like she was dying. The last thing Alice needed was a coffin to confirm it.
Hobbling into the classroom and limping when her minimal weight was on her bad knee, the seventh year sunk into a chair and just observed the thing at the front of the room. It seemed to be causing a lot of ruckus among everyone, didn't it? Needless to say, she was as far from the object as she could get and didn't plan on getting any closer. If she did, it was very likely she'd be inside.
"Professor? Which one of us is that thing for?" Yeah. Fess up, Hadley.

If Michael didn't find Muggle Studies fascinating he wouldn't have bothered showing up for class. How the Professor's could expect them to keep coming to class in their condition was beyond him.
But eh this was Hogwarts, you had to accept these things.
He stepped inside the classroom and of course the first thing his eyes laid on was the huge coffin. He looked at the wooden box and then to the Professor with raised eyebrows. "You trying to tell us something Professor?" Like is that where the ageing students were headed?

Oops. The stuttering and the why questions were ones she could handle, but THAT face. The expression on the young Snake was enough to break her heart and despite the coffin just being for show, Hadley realized at seeing the girl's face that it WAS too much. The girl could possibly BREAK, and it would be her fault and she would feel guilty. Because that face was one that was only evident when someone had lost someone; truly lost someone.
"I'm sorry..." she whispered. And before she could think against it she quickly disillusioned the coffin. There.

Seeing Penelope walk in and then walk out ... well that was just ... wow. Frowning after the sixth year in confusion, she shook it off a moment later and turned toward the class. "And I thought Gryffindors were the brave ones." As in, a topic like death, were they really scared of it?

Merlin. She acted like she was dying, she felt like she was dying, she looked like she was dying. The last thing Alice needed was a coffin to confirm it.
Hobbling into the classroom and limping when her minimal weight was on her bad knee, the seventh year sunk into a chair and just observed the thing at the front of the room. It seemed to be causing a lot of ruckus among everyone, didn't it? Needless to say, she was as far from the object as she could get and didn't plan on getting any closer. If she did, it was very likely she'd be inside.
"Professor? Which one of us is that thing for?" Yeah. Fess up, Hadley.
Oh good, at least some Gryffindors still had the bravery thing down. Even if the captain still sat as far away as possible.

He stepped inside the classroom and of course the first thing his eyes laid on was the huge coffin. He looked at the wooden box and then to the Professor with raised eyebrows. "You trying to tell us something Professor?" Like is that where the ageing students were headed?
Trying to ... what? Hadley shook her head at the young third year. "The only thing I am trying to tell you is that if any student dies on my watch ... well, I'll feel like a failure of a professor. I'm here to keep you safe." That was her promise when she took the position twelve years ago and she still holds to this day.
"Yes. We are going to be talking about a serious topic, but its one that is inevitable and I believe its important for you to know about and not be afraid of it, but rest assured, many of you have experiences you've yet to have and thus hopefully, you have decades more of life." Despite how old many of them looked. "There are healers looking into your ... dilemma and I'm confident that you will be returned to your normal teenage selves soon enough."
ooc: yes. the coffin is disillusioned (per reply to Beverly). again, 12 hours till we officially begin. Yes this is a serious topic, as Hadley said, but I think its one that is reasonable to teach about - however, if you're uncomfortable, I understand. We'll try and make this as comfortable as possible *nods* <33

Delilah was standing by the door, just staring at the... thing. REALLY? The girl's eyes widened a little before her eyes shifted to look at the professor, suddenly feeling extremely scared and panicky. No, she definitely did NOT want to be attending this lesson but she wasn't sure if she just wanted to walk away. Hadley did say they were going to be learning about something important.. Sigh.
She quietly made her way to a seat near the front of the classroom and sat down, just looking down at her desk. If the lesson got a little too weird, she was just going to leave. Yes.

THAT'S what wasn't fair, it wasn't fair at all and the Gryffindor was sufficiently put off of her food she'd brought to class. Lex trudged over to a seat and threw herself in it, shoving the food to the corner of her desk. So much for stuffing her face.
Despite the coffin being 'gone' she couldn't take her eyes off the desk. This was like having dementors flying around all over again.

Oops. The stuttering and the why questions were ones she could handle, but THAT face. The expression on the young Snake was enough to break her heart and despite the coffin just being for show, Hadley realized at seeing the girl's face that it WAS too much. The girl could possibly BREAK, and it would be her fault and she would feel guilty. Because that face was one that was only evident when someone had lost someone; truly lost someone.
"I'm sorry..." she whispered. And before she could think against it she quickly disillusioned the coffin. There.

Beverly's respect for the woman multiplied the moment the coffin disappeared from view. To show her gratitude she sent the professor a small nod. It was appreciated that she didn't have to speak to show how she felt. And now she was wibbling because professor Hadley was really generous. Welp. It was the sensitivity of a little-old-woman-child.
But it was enough with the feels. The coffin was out of view and she needed to behave and be a good student. Putting on a brave face, she clasped her hands in front of her. Maybe she could brace herself before the lesson started. >__<

Sander was glad that his other friends had shown up for class. At least he would be among friends and did not have to be alone on this macabre setting. When Bay asked him what was going on, he hesitantly glanced over at the coffin again before worriedly turning to look at Bay and shrugging his shoulders in reply.
Then Professor Hadley made the coffin disappear and Sander breathed a sigh of relief...for the moment. From what Professor Hadley was saying to a third year student, he suspected that the topic of today's lesson had something to do with the D word and he still felt uncomfortable about it, but at least the coffin was gone.
Sander thought to himself. He knew that he wasn't immortal and that one day he would pass on to the next realm. But he would rather have thaf happen in the long and distant future. The Professor was right. He still had much to accomplish in life and he didn't want to die before at least accomplishing some of them.
Kace finally made it to Muggle Studies. This was one of his favorite classes. He liked learning things from a wizards point of view. As he entered the room, he noticed a coffin was in the front of the room. He gave it a quizzical look and kind of knew what they were gonna be learning today. He saw the professor and waved to her. "Hello Professor! How are you today?"
After he said his greeting, he made his way to his seat. He got out his notebook and started to do his doodles.
