[StarShine]

The class looks the same with two little-but-effective changes: instead of stools, there are proper chairs with soft cushions to sit and lean back on. The Professor cares about his students' posture, apparently, because they are charmed to take the most comfortable shape and height once a student is seated.

The second change is the walls: they are now a soft, calming blue. He is desperate to avoid blasting cauldrons, and muggles claim this colour calms people down.

He opens the door 15 minutes before the class time and sits at his desk to wait for the students to arrive, with a neutral expression on his face.

OOC: Come in, take your seats! The class will resume approximately 7 hours later. You may chat among yourselves, but please don't go overboard with it. Thanks!

Potion progress
• 3 goose feathers (chopped WELL that they look like powder)
• 5 square centimetres of parasites (mycosis fungus)
• Roughly 2 square centimetres fire-crab shell (prepared)
• One fire slug
• 8 drops of salamander blood
• Some flobberworm mucus (depends on how much rigidity one wants)

1. Fill your cauldron 1/3 with water.
2. Add powdered goose feather. Stir clockwise until it looks homogenous and then turn the heater to high.
3. Get your pestle and mortar, crush the parasites for thirty seconds or so, fill the mortar with water, shake it for them to mix better and add it slowly to the potion.
4. Stir counter clock-wise for 7 times and turn off the heater. Let it cool until no vapour is seen. This should take about 5 minutes.
5. Take the fire crab shell but do not add it! Hold it with a metal spoon, lower it nicely into the potion just inside the surface—make sure it doesn’t splash water AT ALL—then start stirring 1 time clockwise, 1 time counter clockwise for 12 times in total. Each stir should take about ten seconds for it to spread thoroughly. Once done with stirring, get it out and put it away on a tissue.
6. Wait for another minute and cut the slug vertically into two in the meantime, add the pieces and stay away from the cauldron as far as you can. If you’ve done everything correctly, the surface should explode harmlessly and start burning. Put it out with your breath ONLY, so you’d better hurry before the fire spreads to the whole surface.
7. Add 8 drops of salamander blood. Alternate between two stirs counter-clock wise, two stirs clock-wise. Repeat for four times. (So you should stir 16 times in total.)
8. Add flobberworm’s mucus to keep it in your mouth better (no more than a tablespoon, not a must).
9. Enjoy.

Ian walks into the classroom grateful to be out of the hallway. He never was a big fan of strolling through the dungeon. While the Huffies lived underground, it didn't seem nearly as dismal as the dungeon. He nodded at the professor before settling in a seat on the side nearest the door toward the middle of the classroom. He began to lay out his required items before him to prepare for the instruction.

She sort of had to be, yeah? Given the badge and the fact that she'd already met this Professor over the summer. Ella wanted to continue the good impression she'd hoped she'd made and all, hoped being the operative word.

Smoothing her uniform, the eighteen year old stepped into the classroom and glanced around quickly. New chairs, cool. The color was a nice change as well but she didn't comment on either. Instead her eyes fell on the new potions professor and she smiled politely.

"Hello, Professor. Nice to see you again."

And with that, she headed to a seat in the front of the room. Smiles for Ian, too. Hello, little badger who we made choke at the feast. Still sorry. Yup.

Excited to attend her first lesson ever at Hogwarts, Lux had made sure that she left for class early. She was so early, that there were hardly any students inside as she walked in. Glancing around her surroundings, she noticed how nice and calming the wall colour appeared, and that there were comfy looking chairs.

Taking a seat near the front of the room, she cast her eyes over to her new Professor. "Hello, Professor!"

Melek came into the classroom and immediately looked at the professor, "Good day, Professor... It is a pleasure seeing you again." Yeah, she was basically lying through her teeth but she said it, faking honesty. A smile came that could probably melt some iced hearts. "I have been thinking about what you had said the other day..." She paused, "Though I had made this bag up before our little run-in." Melek held out a bag of chocolate frogs and other candies. True honesty was on her face at that, since she had made it before he was mean and took points away. "I hope you enjoy them."

Potions without Lafay. Wow, that was gonna be hard to imagine. It was kinda like...chocolate frogs that didn't hop. Not very good sounding. That's what she thought but she wasn't ready to discredit this man just yet. Nah. She had to go in and proper have him teach her first. Lex was willing to take things from there.

The Gryffindor walked into the Potions Classroom.....EEEEEEEEEEPPPPPPPPPPP!!!!

"I love what you've done with the place Professor." BLUE! Was she the only one seeing it??? The walls weren't dreary and depressing but blue and this naturally brought a grin to her face. The other Professors should consider this. It would do wonders. Seriously.

"And hello Professor." Because she totes had manners. Yup. occasionally.

As sure as she now was that this man had good taste, she wasn't ready to commit to the front of the room. Instead, Lex took a seat somewhere in the middle on the new cushy chairs. Not sure she was a fan of these just yet. She'd always thought the stools gave the room a nice touch.

Bri walked into the Potions classroom. She hoped she wasn't late for her first class. The brunette let out a sigh of relief when she was that she was, in fact, early, there were only a few students sitting down. She smiled at them, before finding a seat near the front and sat down. The young Hufflepuff looked up the at Professor before giving a small smile and saying " Hello Professor Culloden." She said quietly,.

The change of the Potions classroom was evident the minute Adi stepped into the room. This was a good kind of change! He really liked the blue! And those chairs! They looked mighty comfortable!

The new Professor was seated at the desk. Adi was going to miss Lafay. "Hello, Professor,'' he said politely and he threw a smile in too. Now to try out one of those chairs! He grinned at Ian and Bri. This was Bri's first lesson. He hoped she was excited. Adi made himself comfortable. And that wasn't too hard considering the chairs were.

Emma walked into the potions room slowly, taking note of the fact that she had arrived earlier than most of the students there. Good. She wasn't going to give the professor reason to take points away, especially since they were in the negatives already. "Hello professor," She greeted the man, beaming up at him. Yes. Being friendly was certainly going to be the way to go here.

Oooh. New chairs. Soft looking chairs. And the walls! New paint job. A nice, calming blue color. Perfection. Emma loved it when the professors did stuff to liven up the place, especially since they were in the dungeons. It made her feel slightly less uncomfortable.

She walked over to the nearest seat, plopping down softly, crossing her legs as she laid out everything she could possibly need. Quills, check. Parchment, check. Wand? Ditto.

Now all she had to do was wait, and pray nothing would go wrong.

First lesson of the school term...and it was potions.

Ben might have been excited, had it been a subject that he actually enjoyed or at least was good at. If last term had been anything to go by, his next 6 years were going to be tough ones in the potions lab. Might have been why he hadn't been totally sure of helping Bart out...well with the making of anything. Regardless, the class was a requirement and there was a new professor so maybe there was a SLIM hope for him to be better.

Proper work clothes on, cauldron and supplies in hand, the second year trudged his way down to the dungeons. He entered the room and paused in step as he was slightly taken back, not by the fact that other students were there but the changes. A paint coat and some seemingly comfy chairs, that was a switch from Lafay's harder edge.

"Um...good day Professor," Ben greeted politely as he moved further inside, this time spotting a two familiar faces...the prefect and Adi from the train. "Hey..." he greeted, taking one of the workstations year the hufflepuff.

Adelaide entered the potions classroom...and man did it look different. The color of blue on the walls was absolutely one of her favorites. Not to mention those chairs looked a lot more comfortable than the stools that had been in the room previously.

Addi scanned around looking for the new professor because you know Lafay had left and all that. And there he was near the front of the classroom as usual. "Hello professor. I love what you've done with the place." Because who said the dungeons had to be nasty and disgusting? She much preferred the homey touch he seemed to be going for. She went and grabbed a seat near the front of the room.

Well, this was it. The first Potions class of the school year. Sophie had somewhat been dreading this moment, but it was bound to come sooner or later, so she might as well get it over with. Her grandfather had said her grandmother was the best at this, and Sophie wasn't too thrilled about her having been replaced.

Ehh... At least this new professor sounded promising when she'd visited him in his office. Sophie entered the room and just stopped, staring at the room in disbelief. Did he have to go and change everything?! Sigh. She looked up at him and said, "Hello, Professor." She could at least be nice about it. How else was she supposed to earn points?

She made her way throughout the room and chose a seat at a random table. Her eyes grew sort of wide when the chair suddenly shifted to form to her body. Whoaaa.

Hannah wondered how she was going to like the new professor. Lafay was tough, but she was her head of house for the last six years, and she couldn't help but miss the woman. Upon walking into to the classroom she couldn't help but to notice several changes. The walls were blue. This room actually seemed inviting and calming almost. She spotted the professor and figured it would be rude not to say hello. "Hello and welcome professor."

The seventh year went and grabbed a seat towards the front and was immediately amazed. "These seats are amazing!" she exclaimed to no one in particular. They felt like heaven and Hannah could definitely get used to this.

It wasn't that Sophie hadn't liked Lafay. It was just... the woman had made her skin crawl. And she wasn't exactly happy that the woman was gone... she was just excited for this new guy. He didn't LOOK too scary at the feast, but he had been far away and hadn't been at the front of a classroom. So she tried not to take that first impression too much to heart.

Upon entering the Potions classroom, however, Sophie actually sighed. A big ol' sigh of relief. She even smiled. The walls were a happy shade of blue and things looked less rickety - there were even new chairs! Sophie liked the new professor already and he hadn't even said anything to them yet - speaking too soon? Perhaps. But the second year couldn't wipe the grin off her face despite the professor's neutral expression as she took a seat and set her cauldron full of supplies on the tabletop.

"G'day, professor," she chimed, bowing her head slightly in greeting as she unpacked her class materials - then her eyes bugged and she wiggled her bottom as she realized the seat had just morphed to fit her figure perfectly.

Tobias had missed the whole fandango at the end of term feast before summer, so of course he had absolutely no idea that there was going to be a change in teacher for this class.

He really should start listening to the speeches at the start of term.

So when Tobias entered, he kind of stopped in his tracks, blinking around at the walls. This was... different. And not a very 'Lafay' choice. Or was it? Maybe he just had a really skewed perception of the woman.

Speaking of Lafay, where was she? The small Hufflepuff looked up to the front of the room and... his jaw kind of dropped.

Who was THAT?

It took a moment or two for Toby to realise he was staring, and yet another before he could cajole his body into properly entering the room and taking a seat. An extremely comfortable seat.

The Hufflepuff sat there for a second, before realising he was staring again. At least this time his mouth was shut and he no longer looked like a stunned fish. But he'd been rude, hadn't even greeted the professor.

"...................... hi."

That... would have to do.

New Professor alert. Which meant that there were bound to be other changes too, right? Maybe.

But there were changes, which were immediately brought to the eighteen year old's attention when he headed into the Potions classroom. The boy grinned at the colour of the walls. Blue! That was much better than... whatever colour they had had before. He couldn't really remember. But blue... blue was a really great colour. And the seats? They were nice too. And much comfier, by the looks of it.

His grey-blue eyes wandered around the classroom before landing on the Professor. "Hello Professor!" he called, giving the man a smile. And head over towards a seat? Yeah. He wasn't going to show it but this Hufflepuff was quite eager to have something a little more comfortable than the stools around. Plus, standing by the door was very awkward behaviour.

Alec headed over towards an empty seat and sat-- ... Whoa! Did the seat morph to fit his tall frame? AWESOME.

Fern marveled at how light her cauldron was. She remembered what a pain it had been last term, hauling the hulking piece of pewter from her common room to the classroom. But this term, Fern figured if she hadn't stored her potions textbook and other supplies in the cauldron, she might have been able to hold it with one hand. The Hufflepuff smiled to herself, confident that this could only mean one thing. She was getting fabulously toned arms and sleeveless robes that would show them off were clearly in her future.

This exciting development replaced Fern's disappointment about the loss of Professor Lafay's kneezle, which had been making her think Potions would be her least favorite class this term, and caused her to offer the new professor a cheerful "Hello!" instead of a grudging 'Hi...'

Taking a seat next to Head Girl Ella, Fern was about to give the Hufflepuff teenager a very mature nod, when her chair started changing. The 12-year-old was completely caught off guard, and she let out a very immature squeal before she could stop herself. Flushing in humiliation, Fern turned away from Ella and focused on removing her potions kit from her cauldron.

New professor. Ohey. Taking in the colour change of the walls, Elodie gave him a wiggly-fingered wave and a grin. "Nice colour, Professor." Very Ravenclaw of the classroom now. Not that the Hufflepuff generally complained. She supposed she liked a few 'claws. A few. Very few. She could count them on her fingers. But...that was how it went with all the houses, so it didn't matter much.

She sat herself a row behind Alexa, after giving her a smile. Yep.

Nope. Not ok. Caleb did not approve of this change.

Why did this professor have to mess up the room?! Wasn't potions associated with dark, drippy, cold dungeons and such? So that was how it should stay, he didn't want it to change! THEY NEEDED LAFAY BACK RIGHT NOW. If this was only a sign of what was to come - Caleb was going to consider boycotting this class.

"I don't think I like the blue," he whispered to Sophie as he sat down next to her. OH. But these chairs. These chairs were nice.

"The chairs though, I think I can get used to," he said a little louder. Huh. Maybe this wouldn't be TOOOO bad.

He still didn't like the blue though.

It was very creepy down here. Absolutely dank & creepy. Why was class down here?! It was really scary! Which was why the little first year kept coming up with many different scenarios in her frantic brain as she cautiously made her way through the dungeons. 'What if there was something locked down in these dungeons?! What if she never found the classroom?! What if she got lost in these dungeons?! What if she couldn't get out?! WHAT IF-'

...Oh...

Josette breathed a sigh of relief as she anxiously made her way towards the door, taking no time to enter the classroom. She did stop though in the doorway to take a look around the very..blue looking classroom. Well, it was certainly a lot different than those dungeons outside of the classroom, so that was definitely a plus for the eleven year old. She took a final look behind her at the scary dungeons before she turned walking further into the classroom.

Slowly making her way down the aisle of desks, her blue eyes rested upon the man in front of the entire class. Josette had noticed other people greeting him as they entered, which made her wonder if she should do the same. Granted yes, he was a stranger...but he did not look entirely dangerous, like her father had made everyone in the world out to be. So perhaps she should she give him a kind good morning.

....If only words would come out of her mouth..

Her mouth opened up to say something, but there was just silence. It felt as if her throat had closed up staring at the much taller man & she felt frozen where she stood. It must have been a few more seconds before she suddenly closed her mouth & quickly bowed to the tall man. Then before another moment of hesitation could befall her, she quickly turned scurrying to a seat in the middle of the classroom.

She was early it seemed. Beverly took that as a good omen. Walking in, she inhaled every little detail. Her mind was like that; analyzing, analyzing. The walls had a soothing texture to them, or maybe it was just her mind. The rest of the classroom seemed nice. Not what she had expected since Kennedy went over and over about how his girlfriend's mother's classroom looked like.

Taking a seat at the front, she neatly set her parchment and quill, side to side, directly in front of her. Now...to wait for the lesson to start.

Suddenly it hit her this was her first time in a real classroom. With real students. With a professor. Miles and miles away from home. Her hands grew clammy and she kept her gaze down. Eye contact would only make her more nervous.

The first thing Haruka did after the entered the classroom was to quickly find a table. She examined the room as she set up her things. The walls were a calming blue color, and the chairs looked rather comfortable.

When she was satisfied with the placement of her things, Haruka figured that she should go introduce herself to the Professor. She took that path that seemed to lead her into the least amount of people's way. She breathed and smiled up at the man. "Hello, sir. I'm Haruka Kaze. It's nice to meet you." She smiled at him again before returning to her seat and waiting for class to begin.

Ian looked up when others began to filter in. It was only then he noticed that his chair was different than when he sat down. It seemed to have formed to fix his posture. As he had gotten taller, he began to slouch more. He shifted back and for hand was pleased that the chair worked with his body to maintain a proper posture. Another thing his mum would be pleased with.

He returned the smile of the huffie headgirl.

The room was calming and decidedly un-dungeon-like, and Mo approved of the change. It was almost like the room was warmer and drier now that it didn't look like a hole in the ground.

The seats, on the other hand, looked kind of flammable, and Mo wasn't sure how comfortable he was lighting fires in a chair that was likely to go up in flames. He prodded it gently with one finger before unpacking his satchel and taking a seat. Okay, flammable but comfortable. Very comfortable.

Oh, yeah... "Good day, Professor."
