It's A Slytherin Party

Its the first Friday night of term and the common room has been decorated for a party, but not just any party- its a welcome party for all the Slytherin students old and new. The theme is Slytherin pride of course, so the decorations are green and silver. Plenty of balloons and snake-y streamers are hanging all around. A large banner hangs on the wall with the words 'Welcome to Slytherin' in large, ornate letters.

Music is playing loud enough to be festive but moderately enough that conversation can still be heard over it. There is also plenty of food, also themed and either shaped like snakes or colored Slytherin green. The baked goods, made by certain Slytherin girls, take pride of place. Is that silver frosting on that cake?

Of course this party has a theme, Slytherin pride! So do make sure you're wearing your colors!

Annabel walked into the common room...ready for a party. It was quite empty, but she didn't mind. She was dressed in a green silk robe, with silver edging. Did her brother know that she was going to be in Slytherin. She grabbed a seat and waited for others to show up.

Decorating done! Cassia wiped the non-existent sweat on her forehead with the back of her hand and stood triumphantly her eyes flickering around checking if everything was out of place. She wasn't by herself of course, this was a group job! And they got it done well, yeah?

Her hands automatically lifted to fix her hair and try to smooth it down while she plopped down on one of the armchairs. She was just working on inflating the pillows. Despite being happy that her friends and her got it done and were hosting this thing, she couldn't help not miss other older snakes and hope they were present with them.

The sixth-year's nostrils were drawn to the smell of the delicious goods made by the best bakers in the dungeons. Her doormmates, yo! Could she start already? They probably had to wait.

And so she waited for people to arrive . last time she checked it was five to seven. So now, any second!

And their first arriving guest.

The blond couldn't help but beam at the first-year, "Enjoyed your first feast, Anna?" she asked conversationally. Also, lady Cassia approved of the girl's clothing.

After finishing setting things up with his friends, West disappeared to shower and get ready himself. Not that it took all that long, he might have been the sort to make effort when it came to how he presented himself but West could do it quickly enough. The tall Slytherin bounded back into the common room and had to force himself not to go straight for the baked goods. Because seriously. Yum.

Ahem. Instead he gave that little firstie an approving smile at her outfit. Slytherin spirit, she had it already.

"Did you enjoy the feast tonight as well?" Anna asked. After the girl replied, she asked "did you do this by yourself?"

Theo was actually very excited to host this party with his two best pals, because Slytherin was the best company to keep so nothing could possibly go wrong. He had helped where he could with the setting up, which wasn't as much as he had first thought, then went upstairs to rummage through his trunk. Course, all his smart stuff was stuffed at the bottom of his trunk, so he just pulled out the first green thing he could find, which was a posh green Fred Perry t-shirt that he got for his birthday.

Though he wasn't sure why his parents thought he'd want clothing for his birthday. Much more important things out there, you know, like a Game Boy or something.

Next up was jeans, and the pair that he had found first were kinda green, so they'd do perfectly. And finally, Theo put on a pair of new shoes that he had also gotten for his last birthday. He did appreciate those. After a moment of checking himself out and feeling totally self-conscious about his fashion choices, he pinned his prefect badge onto his shirt and slowly made his way back to the common room. He grabbed a drink then moved straight in on West.

"Hey... mate... does this look okay?" He whispered. Better get advice from his fashion superior before all of the students arrived.

Astrid was here, by the way. Because party! Who didn't wanna party? It was also a good way to get to know people, right? She would be spending a lot of time in Slytherin and, until she graduates, she'd have to know a few of them. Well, actually she already knew some of them. Like, by their appearance you know. Not by name. She did know some of them but yeah. It'd be better to know more people because it'd be nice and stuff. Yeah. Okay.

After making really important decisions, she finally chose an outfit. Well, yeah... she could really get indecisive sometimes. But she liked this one, so why not? She got out of her dormitory and joined the others at the welcome party that the Slytherin student leaders planned out. Not much people... but sure. She could wait a little bit more before getting her hands on the food over there.

Good sign, that was. Cassia tried to remember what happened at her first feast and how did she feel back then but man that was like ages ago. She could remember very well that she was very excited. "It wasn't bad," Cassia answered with a nod. Though starting feast were mostly all good. The before leaving ones that usually ....sucked? Not all, of course, depending on what had happened during the year.

"Not by myself," She said. "My two friends helped," she said pointing out Theo and West who, by the way, were looking cool! Wasn't hard since there wasn't that much people yet. "They're the other prefect and the Quidditch Captain." Bonus information.

More people were arriving! Cassia noticed the other young kid who just came in. She examined her style and approved of it. Could have gone better with sandals or flats, she thoughts. But maybe the lil' kid was aiming for irony or complexity. or she had nothing else..

Cassia found that so far she really was enjoying was styles! You could learn a lot about someone judging by how they dressed. That she believed in. Subtely and non-too obviously, the blond sized up the girl who just entered. And she received a high rank. Telling her though might be a bit weird.

"Hi, you're new right?" Obviously she knew that, but a way to drum up a convorsation. "I'm Cassia," First things first. Maybe at the end of the party she could ask her where she got her top from. Maybe.

What a way to start the term out, than with a Welcoming party for the Slytherins. Asher came back down to the common room, dressed up and ready for the party. Green and silver everywhere. One thing that never left him since he left was he sense of house spirit.

He seen West and Theo, and give them a what's up nod. He didn't want to be the first to gobble down the food so he leaned against the wall, coolly and watched the others with a huge grin on his face.

Paaarty. Derry's favourite. ... Not. But at least it was just a Slytherin party, so most of her friends would be here. ... And all the new kids. Hmmm...

Derry got changed into something silvery, shrugged on her Slytherin jacket, left her ginger mane to do it's own thing since she couldn't be bothered trying to tame it right now, and wandered down into the common room. Right. Music, good. Food, good. People... mostly good it seemed. She picked up a snake cookie and bit it's head off, still trying to get used to suddenly being back around all these people again.

Caleb wasn't exactly sure how to dress for this party other than to just wear green. That was all they needed, right? Just to wear green? Well, that was what he had done. He was wearing a nice pair of dark jeans, a green button down over a plain gray t-shirt, and green converse shoes. Very Slytherin, yeah?

Since Cass had been the one to invite him, he walked up to her and smiled. "The place looks great!" he said with a grin. Feeling a stomach growl coming on, he reached over and grabbed one of the baked goods on the nearby table. Munching on it, he turned back to the lady prefect and smiled again.

"So what's it like? Having the badge and all that? Feel all powerful and stuff?" he asked.

He noticed someone nearby, standing quietly and just watching people. He'd seen him in class, doing the same thing. He didn't talk much did he? That was mainly why Caleb had avoided him - quiet people didn't get along with him. Because he was loud and talkative.

But he also knew that this boy was the Quidditch captain, and since Caleb had made the GRAND mistake of signing up for those, he decided to go chat with him.

"Hi, you're the Quidditch Captain, yes?" he held out a hand for a shake. "Caleb Newell. I signed up for tryouts," he informed him, even though he was sure the boy had checked the board already and seen all the hopefuls who'd written their names down.

Caterina had gravitated immediately towards the food. Mostly because she liked being near food, but also because she wanted to check on the things she'd made and make double sure that everything was still looking good.

Pft. Of course it was looking good. It was Moretti food.

From her spot, she saw Cassia and West and Theo and Derry. These people needed to be eating food. FOOD WAS GOOD. She selected a plate of treats and took it to them, bouncing up to where the boys were standing, "Food?" C'mon. You know you want fooood.

Amber didn't have much in the way of green clothing and it had taken a considerable amount of digging in her trunk to actually find something that could pass for Slytherin house colours. She had her precious green boots, of course, but it seemed a little underwhelming to turn up with just that one small nod towards house pride. She eventually found a pair of muted green jeans she had completely forgotten about and threw them on together with the first top she found. 'There. That would do.'

And off to the party she went..

Ah ha! People. Lots of people the little Slytherin didn't know! Oh, there was the Elven boy from the feast... boy prefect and--was that the girl prefect?

Oh and there was Grace! Amber sidled up to her new friend and just sort of hovered behind her... then tapped her on the shoulder. "Hiii." She greeted with a funny little smile.

Grace looked niiiice.

Grace had made en effort.

As a rule, Slytherin's held good parties. At least in Ascanius' experience with it.

So the fact that the Slytherin badged people and their Head of House had thrown it together, well, Ascanius was there, yeah? Just not exactly on time 'cause being the first guy there was never fun. Better to walk in when everything was already in full swing. People were always more relaxed and hopefully his friends were already there.

Derry was just observing, eating her cookie, when she heard that familiar voice... Didn't match? Well duh. Derry looked down at herself before staring back at Ascanius with wide eyes. "Whatever will I do?! I swear I was wearing catwalk fashion five minutes ago!" she exclaimed, clutching at her heart... before bursting into laughter.

"It's the only silver thing I had." she said with a grin, glancing down at her dress. "Except pyjamas. And apparently that's not socially acceptable."

Marissa walked into the common room and looked around she saw some of the quidditch players from last term and waved as she made her way over to one of the armchairs. She smoothed her green dress down as she sat down.

"Thanks. You can borrow it any time." Really, Theo knew by now he had free access to West's extensive wardrobe, even if these days they often had to charm things to fit since they'd filled out in different directions.

"Thanks Cat! It looks good. You and Adelaide outdid yourselves. Again." And he was definitely keen to stuff his face. He picked up a cookie immediately and bit into it, making appreciative noises and inhaling it in seconds.

Oooh. Person. Older Person. Older girl. Grace smiled at her. It was nice of people to come say hello. Because she just felt little to be honest. Even littler that little. Because she was a first year, and she was tiny. She was sure she was tiny for a first year. So that really didn't help. So she liked people coming to say hi. "Oh... THank you." Oooh. Someone was behind her. She could have sworn that she felt someone behind her. You know like a sixth sense. She nearly jumped as someone tapped her on the shoulder. That was not good. She twisted around, but then smiled. "heyyy." It was her friend. Amber! She smiled at her. That was okay. She knew that Amber didn't really mean to scare her. Unless she really wanted to be a scary slytherin.

"It's good isn't it?" She murmured, looking at her friend properly. "A party! The food smells so good!" Could they go get some now?

Before making it out of the dorms, Bev peeked at the common room. Slytherins were already gathering. This was like a sort of meet-and-greet, no? It was the perfect opportunity to jump out of her little shell and have fun. Thing was, she liked her little shell...but she did want to experience this fun.

Cautiously, she walked into the common room and tugged the letterman jacket across her chest. Said letterman jacket was huge on the third year. She'd asked her brother to send her something quick that was Slytherin-ish for the party. Of course, being a dude Kennedy thought a letterman jacket did it.

It was nice.

Although, she might be confused for an Escalante as the back of the jacket said in bold letters: ESCALANTE #16. She felt good in it, though. She could hide in it if the occasion called for it. :3

He bit off the top of his cookie before half-swallowing and talking, "Since when do you care about socially acceptable?" Hadn't she been the same person who had broke out into song in the Common Room- Vanessa Carlton actually (because Ascanius did NOT join in, pfft)? And the same girl who was all Iron Man'd out? Yeah. He didn't KNOW a socially acceptable Derry.

Why was Asher standing in the corner leaning on the wall like some antisocial monk? Normally he was such a party animal. But there he was watching the other talk, and eat they were having fun. Plus he was starting to get pretty hungry now, and the food looked yummy.

He walked on over the crowd and food. Time to eat and socialize, Romalotti.
