| | The Sculpture Exhibit What was once an abandoned room next to the arena down the corridor is now full of metal sculptures in the shapes of creatures. Labeled accordingly, most of them one could recognize as being more dark in nature, such as the hinkypunk and red cap. Others seem to be created due to sudden inspiration from the maker, such as the squirrel or swan. The door is usually unlocked, open to both student and staff. Don't panic if some of the sculptures seem more lifelike than you first thought. A twitch of a wing. Movement of a head. A chirp from a bird. Was that clabbert always hanging from there? Watch where you walk however. You may just run into a cobweb or two. OOC: All SS Board and School Rules apply

| be curious, not judgmental It had been Sophie's idea to meet in the sculpture exhibit because she had peered into the room plenty of times on the way to and from class, but she hadn't gotten to properly take a look at the various sculptures before. Upon entering, she sniffed a few times - it smelled kind of old and dusty. Did anyone ever even venture here often? Did Romanos forget the room existed? Why was it even there? What were all of the sculptures for? Who made them?
The second year had loads of questions looking around at the various metal creatures, but she ended up not worrying about them and decided to flop down on the floor on her stomach. Why stay standing and waste valuable energy waiting for Cat to show up? Sophie sprawled out her limbs and stretched them, sighing as her muscles ached and blowing apart a nearby cobweb in the process. So sore. So pathetic. She needed to start taking Mo's advice to cut back on training a little, but... she still didn't want to let him nor the team down. But mostly him.
She tried not to dwell on that too much now, though, and instead let herself be overcome with how much she missed her best friend. She was going to show up soon, right? Would the Slytherin know what sculpture room she was talking about?

Would the Slytherin know what sculpture room she was talking about? Cat wandered the room slowly, often getting distracted, but not exactly seeing Sophie around. She cradled the package in her arms and weaved around the sculptures - did that one just look at her?!
Meep.
This place was creepy. She decided immediately.
Where was Sophie?
Had something kidnapped her?
Oh.
There she was.
Cat stepped over Sophie carefully and sat down on the floor, brushing a few cobwebs away from the younger girl. "Were you overcome with excitement and suffered a fainting spell?" She otherwise couldn't see why Sophie was sprawled on the dusty floor. |

| be curious, not judgmental Sophie heard the shuffling of footsteps in the room, but she opted to let the sixth year wander and examine the sculptures at her leisure. She was just going to keep laying there till Cat stumbled upon her. No biggie.
As long as it WAS Cat... and not... one of the sculptures coming to life or some random student. That made her a little nervous, being in such a vulnerable position on the floor, but when the footsteps drew nearer, the Ravenclaw was relieved to see that it was Cat. A weight lifted from her chest and the world felt right again.
Resting her cheek back down on the cold floor, she tried to shake her head a little, "No. Just tired. I think... I'm sick. With what everyone else seems to have - you know? Everyone's turning into old people or something - all achy and talking about grey hairs and stuff, especially in classes, and..." Sophie pushed herself to a sitting position, her legs crossed in front of her. She gave Cat a hard, heartbroken look. "I found one today. It was in my hairbrush." Her eyes were faintly glossy with suppressed tears, but she hoped Cat wouldn't notice as she added somberly, "I'm only thirteen. A thirteen-year old with greying hair. Am I dying?"

Her eyes were faintly glossy with suppressed tears, but she hoped Cat wouldn't notice as she added somberly, "I'm only thirteen. A thirteen-year old with greying hair. Am I dying?" Yeah. She'd noticed. She'd been wondering why exactly it was happening too. Nothing was happening to HER, so what was affecting everyone else? She nodded to Sophie and sighed. "Yeah. Mo seems to have it too, I think. It's weird. Maybe it's some kind of odd Wizarding illness." Or maybe someone was putting aging potions in the food.
Not like something like THAT hadn't happened before.
Sophie's look completely and totally shattered her heart. She offered her arms to the girl, if she wanted to sit in her lap, or if she could manage to crawl off of the floor, even. "Oh, Soph." She really wanted to cuddle her and try to make her feel better, but she didn't know what else to say. She didn't know what was happening. "You are not dying. No." NO. Caterina would not allow it. No boyfriends dying or little sisters. Or anyone. No dying. "C'mere." She wiggled her fingers. |

| be curious, not judgmental Cat got a frown and a sigh out of Soph when she mentioned Mo. The poor guy. "Yeah. I know whatever it is is affecting him, too. He doesn't have the agility and flexibility and endurance he had last term. Practices are hard on all of us." Sophie WAS glad that Cat said she felt okay. That was a relief. But... made her confused. What was the common denominator between Sophie and Mo that didn't involve Cat? Quidditch players? Ravenclaws? Was something in the air of the common room? Did Mo and Sophie take a class Cat didn't? Or eat certain foods? Or sit in certain desks or touch a certain book???? What was going ON?
"Maybe. I thought when people were first complaining about it maybe there was just contaminated water changing people's hair lighter, like maybe some kind of chemical was almost like bleaching it or something in the showers, but... with all these other common symptoms and stuff among us, I don't even know," she complained, pulling all her hair over one shoulder and brushing through it with her fingers thoughtfully. "Jus' doesn't make any sense."
Cat's reaction to her question made her feel even more upset, and the tears that had threatened to pool in her eyes couldn't be stopped as the older girl opened her arms. Obediently, Sophie gathered the strength to scoot over and cuddled up close to Cat, leaning into her and resting her head against the crook of her neck, trying to quickly blink back the tears. "Then what's gonna hap-," she began, but her voice caught in her throat and she was all wibbly. Nooooooope. She wasn't going to openly bawl in front of Cat. No. She was supposed to be her cool, tough little Soph. So she tried again, "...Okay. Yeah. That's good. No dying. I have plans and stuff. Gotta be a Wandmaker some day, y'know? I've got places to see and adventures to go on and boys to kiss and birthdays to celebrate with youuu," she found herself grinning as she tried to make herself feel better, but a few tears had escaped and she squeezed her eyes shut.
Still not pulling away from her, Sophie asked lightly, "Are you back to full health? Are you feeling okay? Body and heart and mind and everything?"

Still not pulling away from her, Sophie asked lightly, "Are you back to full health? Are you feeling okay? Body and heart and mind and everything?" "It doesn't make sense to me at all." Cat made a face about that. She didn't like not knowing things. Especially when those things were affecting people that she loved in a bad way. That was something she never wanted to happen at ALL, even more so when there was nothing that she could do to fix it.
She cradled Sophie like a baby, doing a very good job of not crying a little when Sophie got wibbly at her. She was so broken hearted over this, Sophie thought she was dying and that was just an awful thing to have on your shoulders, especially so young. "No dying, little love. Someone will find out what's going on and everyone will be okay." She wiped away the tears and kissed Sophie's forehead, just as if she were a little baby. She wasn't, she was a big girl, but Cat couldn't do anything but comfort her. So that was what she was trying to do. "Kissing boys is great, Soph. And birthdays are the best, and you have loads of different foods to try too. You're going to do it all." For sure.
Cat smiled, touched that even though Sophie was feeling bad, she still asked about her. "Fully recovered and all healed." |

| be curious, not judgmental It didn't make sense to Sophie either, which BOTHERED her. She liked to know everything, and currently... there were no real leads to what the cause was. It was slightly comforting that no one else seemed to know what was going on, though, unless the professors were withholding information from them and were plotting behind the scenes. It was kind of odd that none of them were addressing the matter and encouraging the students that it was going to be okay, though, wasn't it? Did that mean... they didn't know if everything was going to be okay? Were they all going to die?
Still wibbling in Cat's arms, Sophie held onto the older girl tightly, curling into her like a thirteen-year old baby. "They'd better. They needa call in some reinforcements, like, Ministry people or something to figure out what's going on. Run some tests and take samples or something. Have you seen poor Professor Flamsteed these days?" The poor guy looked dreadful. "I hope I don't end up as bad as him. And Mo, I hope he doesn't either." Though... minus the fact no one knew what was going on and they could all be dying, it was kind of funny to imagine athletic, spunky Mo looking like an elderly man. The thought almost made her laugh a little.
But then the severity of the topic struck her in the chest again, and she squeezed Cat's arm gently, a smile creeping back onto her face when the Slytherin kissed her forehead. "Is kissing boys great? I don't really understand it, but you and Mo look cute when you do it, so maybe I'll learn some day. S'just weird, though, pressing your face against someone else's." Her voice was muffled and quavering slightly, and she sniffed hard to keep any snot from dripping onto poor Cat.
"I'm glad you're all better. Someone's gotta be in good health to take care of me and Mo, and I'm glad it's you. I woulda tried my hardest to make you guys feel better if it was you two, though, but you're more of a... nurturer." The mum of the group. Which was... kind of weird, since Cat was Mo's girlfriend, not his mother, so she didn't say that part aloud. "I don't think I woulda done a really good job - I'd probably have just tried to make you guys laugh and thrown sweets at you and stuff. I dunno how to handle it when people have problems. S'awkward. Don't wanna make it worse. But you do a good job." Hence the grin that was on the little second year's face now. Being with Cat made everything better.

Caterina simply nodded along to Sophie as she spoke and she grabbed at the subject of kissing because kissing wasn't sad and Cat was horrible at being sad. She was much more helpful when she wasn't sad. "I think it's more about how kissing makes you feel, especially when you're kissing someone that you really like, or love." It was sort of a weird thing when you thought about it. Like who was the first person to smush their face into someone else's face and call it a kiss? "You'll know what I mean someday, though. I promise."
She stroked Sophie's hair and smiled. "It's not an easy thing to know what to do in certain situations. Most of the time, I just do whatever I possibly can to make the person feel better. I sort of feel like a bit of a failure this time, though. There's not a whole lot I can do about this one." She didn't mean to tell Sophie that, Soph was a baby still, she didn't need the burden of knowing that Cat was upset and frustrated in her own way over all this. Cat was meant to be the older sister person and make her feel better, but sometimes it was easy to forget that Sophie was younger. "Anyway, in the mean time, how about you and I go do something fun? We could go shopping. Hogsmeade? Just us girls." Cat smiled again and nodded. They totally needed to get out of this creepy place, anyway. |

That made sense, since kissing in its most concrete sense didn't seem appealing. But maybe one day Sophie would get to follow the crowd and press her lips against someone else's and find out exactly what Cat meant. Maybe. "So do you like Mo, or do you..." a grin spread across her face as she pulled away from Cat and gave her a pointed look, "looooove him?" Hehehehe. "Are there more fireworks when you kiss someone that you love? Even more of those feelings?" She was getting ahead of herself, but she had already made up her mind that Cat totally loved Mo. Duh.
Sophie was back to clinging to Cat's arm when she said she thought she was a failure. "But you're not, you're good at this! Y'just being here to talk to and have you listen and give hugs and smiles and encouragement helps. You always know what to do. You kinda have... a warm, comforting presence, y'know what I mean?" Her head tilted to the side and a hand had raised, palm facing up questioningly as if she wanted an answer. "That's always enough - you don't have to solve anyone's problems, you just gotta... be you. You've got a sorta infectious... light in side of you or something. You're a ray of sunshine," she giggled and lightly poked Cat in the side a few times, exaggerating on purpose with every hope of inflating the Slytherin's head or heart or something.
HOGSMEADE. Sophie's eyes lit up and she nodded a bunch, "Can we? Really? I've never been to Hogsmeade before - it'll be my first time, so you'll have to show me everything fun." The Ravenclaw looked at her empty wrist, then turned her gaze up to the walls of the room, searching for a clock - she had no idea what time it was, but, "Can we really go? Right now?" She wasn't going to stand up till Cat said YES. No false hope or anything.

She thought for a moment about what Mo would say if Sophie had asked him. Was this something he wouldn't want to talk to Sophie too much about? So as to not... influence her? Was she thinking about this question way too much? "Personally, I think there's loads more fireworks when you kiss someone you love." Did that answer her question? Cat grinned.
It was interesting to her that both Sophie and Mo had used the ray of sunshine line on her. Did Ravenclaws have a certain hang up on sunshine? Or was it just true? Did Cat have sunshine in her? If Mo and Sophie both said so, it had to be true. She kissed the girl's head again, "And you are a doll. I adore you, Sophie Brown."
She nudged Soph so that she would sit up, "Yep, we can really go. We'll walk out right now. You need to get your coat first, though. I can't let you catching a cold on my watch." |

Offering Cat a bashful smile, Sophie looked on at her with raised eyebrows, awaiting a proper answer - ah-ha! "Does it happen every time you kiss Mo, then? I mean... I think you guys probably kiss a lot - is it always magical? Or... just sometimes in certain circumstances?" She just honestly really wanted to know how it worked. A totally innocent, casual question.
From being previously wibbly, the second year could feel those feelings return at Cat's kind gesture and words. "Nuh uh," was all she said in defiance to mask how much she enjoyed hearing those words from the one person who meant just as much to her as her own family.
Understanding the nudge and pushing herself up to a proper sitting position, Sophie grinned big, scrambled to her feet, and extended her hand, wanting to hold Cat's. "Are you sure I have to go get my jacket? How long's the trip to Hogsmeade? I don't wanna go all the way upstairs again. S'too much work." Pause. "D'you have an extra in your dorm?" She tried to sound totally casual about it, but on the inside she was NERVOUS about asking because she wanted to wear something of Cat's SO BADLY. She had always wanted a big sister, especially for the purpose of getting to borrow clothes. Hehe. So since the opportunity was presenting itself... Sophie gave the Slytherin big pleading puppy dog eyes. Pleeeeeeeease?

Cat nudged Sophie to stand and got up herself, brushing her legs to make sure there were no cobwebs clinging to them. She just grinned at Sophie and shook her head, "I feel like I should not be answering these questions." She hadn't been thinking about kissing boys when she was Sophie's age. Cat had been thinking about ways to beat them at anything she possibly could. "You most definitely need one, yes." She tilted her head and considered the younger girl for a moment, "Alright, I'm sure you'll fit in mine. Might be a little bit big, but it'll do. I have to get one for myself anyway." She offered her hand and grinned, "Let's get out of this creepy place, though." |

Sophie tried not to look at all hurt by the Slytherin deciding not to answer her questions further, but she was a little bummed nonetheless. She thought Cat would tell her all about the mysteries of life. "Okay," she tried to throw out casually and accompanied it with a shrug. Shruuuuug. Okay, Caterina. Go ahead and keep secrets.
Heeeeeehehehe. Sophie's mood brightened considerably at the older girl's allowance of her to wear her coat instead. "I'm sure it'll be fine, you're not THAT much bigger than me." She stood on her tippy-toes to accentuate her point. "Thanks," she beamed and bounced a little in excitement, grasping Cat's hand cheerfully and pulling her toward the door. "Let's goooooooo." THERE WAS FUN TO BE HAD.
