Around the corner from the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom is a cozy little nook that could almost be easily missed, in which sits a quaint little waiting area for all those who wish to visit Professor Romanos. There are a variety of dark reddish-brown leather chairs for those to sit comfortably on, surrounding a low, rich colored mahogany table that has been conveniently stacked with a few magazines for enjoyment while waiting. Underneath sits a soft carpet that matches the rest of the décor, giving the area a rustic and inviting place to be in. Right next to the door sits a little perch where a working little metal made snidget sits; most of the time. It does truly love to have the spotlight on him and will bug you if it isn't. If one wishes to visit the professor, all they have to do is knock. Keep in mind though, there may be others already in the office and if that's the case, feel free to make yourself comfortable. Fall asleep if you must. The Professor doesn't mind; just as long as you aren't missing any lessons.
OOC: Please post here first by having your character knocking on the door.
The Ravenclaw sixth year was all excited for not-so-obvious reasons. Curling herself into one of the chairs outside of Professor Romanos’ office she just waited. Excitedly. She wanted to try the dueling thing she’d never done that before exactly. And this, even though it might have made her look a bit jittery she wasn’t nervous…nope, she was excited. And not bouncy in the least bit.
Sixth years weren’t bouncy.
They could be excitable when it came to practicing dueling but no. She was never bouncy. She was almost vibrating with excitement. She just hoped that Professor Romanos would accept her plea to duel with a seventh year guy. Transfer boy was going down...

Sander made his way to the Defense Against the Dark Arts Professor's office. His goal was to get permission to practice dueling. He that students could do that here.
Sander had an opponent in mind. Mika Johanssen. Yep! That Puff in The Hair girl was going down. He grinned when he saw that she had beaten him to the office. That would be the last time she beat him.
Grinning down at her, he walked past her and knocked on the office door.
Now all he had to do was sit and wait for the Professor to come out.

Already overcome with the missing warmth and playfulness of her precious kitties, Medea was tapping her quill against her desk mindlessly thinking about them rather than going over lesson plans like she should have been doing. That is, until she heard the knock upon her door. Distraction! Yes! Heading through her office, she opened the door, just enough to lean against the frame and see who...or possible what...it was.
Oh, one she knew...and one she didn't. "Good day." she smiled towards the older students. "Certainly not in trouble already, are ve?"

"Good afternoon." she greeted warmly. "Vos there something you needed?"

Alex decided that she would try to be ahead of the game as much as possible this year. She definitely wanted to do well in her favorite class, Defense Against the Dark Arts. Alex thought that it would be good to practice dueling, if she was allowed to do it.
She arrived at Professor Romanos' office and took a seat in the waiting area. She hoped that the Professor would allow her to practice dueling.

Amelia was almost offended when Professor Romanos asked if she had gotten in trouble already this term. She just sat there in the comfy chair for a moment her jaw dropped – and not for comical effect. Seriously she was nearly offended when had she ever gotten in trouble…except for last term and almost every class with Professor Flamsteed but that was beside the point.
“I can’t believe you think I got in trouble” she gasped out – well more half whispered. “I’m actually here to ask your permission to duel this guy – the transfer student here” she nodded in Sander’s direction. “Seeing I want to become and auror I thought it a smart idea to use the dueling arena at least once in my time here at Hogwarts” she admitted with a large smile.
That and she wanted to try out some funny duel-esque spells on people.

Sander bowed...for that's what they did in Durmstrang, to show respect to their staff. He belatedly realized he had not checked to see whether his shoes were clean and quickly stopped walking any further, lifted up each of his feet to examine his shoes. He didn't want to be trekking any mud or dirt in this nice place.
Good...so far so good...clean...
Hoping that the Professor hadn't seen his awkward shoe checking balancing act, Sander approached her desk and greeted her and introduced himself.
"Good morning, Professor. My name is Aleksander Strand and I'm a Seventh year transfer from Durmstrang. If you don't mind calling students by their nicknames, you can call me Sander."
Okay Sander stop beating around the bush...so Sander immediately told her the reason why he was here.
Yes..yes nodding at what Mika was saying....and then a frown. She was here to challenge him to a duel?
No he hasn't done anything wrong...yet!!
"Professor, I would like permission to practice dueling with other students in the arena. The dummies would be useful but I think in order to hone ones dueling skills, it is best to duel with someone."
..... Yes someone who will attack back. Dummies can't do that.
"You have my word that no curses, jinxes or charms will be used that will cause permanent and painful injury to my opponent." Sander added that promise.
"I have spoken with two older students who have agreed to duel with me. They are Alexandra Delaine and Theresa Hedge " he told her
"In fact, Alex is here now too." Sander waved hi to his other Ravenclaw friend who had joined them in the sitting area.
.....but back to Mika....
"and now I guess her too." Sander frowned back at Mika.
Then he stopped talking and waited to hear what the Professor had to say...for yes he had said too much without even allowing her a word in.

Tessa walked up to the waiting area of the office. She had promised Sander she would get permission to duel, and she was quite looking forward to it. A chance to practice her spells against an opponent. She was a bit rusty, but she figured it would come back pretty quickly.
She had just reached the waiting area and was about to sit down when she saw a familiar figure already speaking to the Professor. And had just said her name... her full name. Ugh.
"It's Tessa, if you please," she called out, before taking a seat nearby. She would wait her turn, after all, she was behind a few others who were waiting. But, if they were already talking about her, she would stay close if she were needed.

Oh dear.
"A joke, Miss Johanson." Her smile lessened slightly. "Forgive me."
BUT on the bright side, despite having missed the shoe checking balancing act, she got to put a name to a face before lessons started. Mister Aleksander Strand, seventh year, and in the Hufflepuff house from the looks of it. Duly noted. "I trust my older students vith dueling, Mister Strand, but thank you...for your vord." she gave the lad a nod, taking notice of the other two students who had arrived.
Erm...ahem. Well, alrighty then. They were ALL here for dueling? Not that she minded.
"Miss Delaine, Miss Hedge...vos there something you needed other than dueling permission?" Or had Aleksander beat them to it?

Aleksander smiled and then quickly tried to hide it. He was glad that he now had permission to duel with Tessa, Alex and Mika. Now all they had to do was schedule when and where.
He was grateful that the Professor had given her permission and so thanked her.
"Thank you, Professor. Maybe you could sometime come down and watch us. I would be grateful for any pointers you can share with me to improve my skills." Sander told her.

Tessa looked up as the Professor addressed her and gave a smile and shake of her head. "No Professor, that should be it," she said with a warm smile. "Pleasure to meet you, by the way," she added with a grin. At least they would each have faces to the other's name, since she hadn't taken a class with the Professor yet.

Yes she would be his best critic.
She glanced over at Sander's words and nodded. "Yes, that would be greatly appreciated! We would more than welcome your input," she agreed, shooting Sander a smile before turning back to the Professor. "Thanks again!"

Alex heaved a sigh of relief when Sander's request was approved. Addressing the Professor, she responded to her question. "No Professor, I was only here to request permission to duel. Thank you very much for allowing us to practice."

During break time, Leah the first year girl bounced to the first floor and found herself facing the DADA Classroom. Then it hit her that she was here to visit the Defense Professor. She had met her during the first Gobstones match of the year and thought it would be polite to introduce herself while asking some questions more formally before her first lesson with the Professor.
Knock knock.
Was there someone already in there with the Professor? Leah sat down in a comfortable looking chair, looking around. What was this Defense subject about, anyway?

Standing up from her desk, Medea checked her watch...only to unhook it's clasp and place it upon the tea table on her way to the door. The device was definitely busted. "Good afternoon...Oh! Miss Abbott." Little bit of a surprise. "Is everything alright?"

Leah stood up from the chair immediately when she heard footsteps from the office. A little bit nervous, as this was the first time visiting a professor personally in her office, the girl wiped some sweat from her forehead with her sleeve before the door opened. "Good afternoon to you too, professor. I'm fine, thanks." She said. Good to know that the professor remembered her.
"Um, I wanted to ask you a few stuff, about this subject, mostly. I heard about the dueling on this floor," Leah said, pointing at the dueling arena. "And that it can earn house points. Not that I only consider earning points important but," she paused for a moment, "I'm a first year, and I don't know anything about defense. I was wondering what we are learning this year, and could you give me some extra information on how to improve?" Because defense is important.

Phew. She managed to finish her "speech".
An eager student. Merlin knew they needed a bit more of those in the school. There apparently was just something about when a student hit third year, their enthusiasm for school evaporated. With a delighted smile, she opened the door a bit more and moved out of the way. "Vhy don't you come inside and ve can talk."
